It’s so.nIce to practice yoga in such a welcoming space. Spira always makes you feel cared for. I’ve been practicing at this studio for almost a year now and couldn’t imagine doing yoga anywhere else. Sign up for a class, you won’t be disappointed!

The Embody school is such a positive and welcoming environment. It has been a space where I have felt so comfortable to start doing yoga as a beginner and continue to grow. Have been attending classes here for almost a year now and absolutely love it!

I booked a 4:30pm Friday class, got there at 4:29 and read a sign that said “deep breath, try again another day if we are locked and you’re late”. I knocked, because I wasn't late, and no one came to let me in. How nice of them to do this after already taking my money. Also in a small, decrepit building. Very disappointed and had my Friday plans ruined.
Update: the school responded, and I have timestamps of me calling at 4:31pm (calls were ignored) when my two minutes of knocking on the classroom door also went ignored. The security footage statement is false. From the amount of shoes outside, it looked like four people were in the class. Someone arriving at 4:29pm should not be ignored and turned away. Not everyone has the time (or truly the need) to read a confirmation email. If I book a class online, it’s expected I show up when the class if about to begin.

Embody is my weekend treat - every Saturday I join Deirdre’s Ashtanga class. It’s just what I need after a long week. My brain shuts off and we go through our series without thinking - truly moving meditation. At the end of our practice, I feel like I’ve had a full body massage. Deirdre, Loula, and Spira are all phenomenal teachers! So glad I found this studio after having to leave my beloved teachers in Tennessee ❤️

The Embody school is a friendly and fantastic yoga studio. Classes are small and the instructors know your name. I especially love the somatic yoga on Fridays which blends yoga with somatic experiencing techniques. It’s the perfect way to transition from the work week to the weekend and has been a great addition to my continuing trauma healing journey

I took a trauma release exercise (TRE) workshop with Spira, and it was excellent. Great space, and super welcoming team, and her insights around the different trauma treatments and how we store stress feels like someone finally gets it. They host somatic yoga sessions as well, great for anyone also exploring IFS based therapy or somatic experiencing.

This place helped me get out of my low-energy depressive state. Thanks to the different techniques, I returned to myself, started playing squash, lost some weight, and generally kicked off a healthier lifestyle—big thanks to Spira for her kindness and openness.

The Embody School is such a grounding and positive space. The instructors are knowledgeable, approachable, and great at offering adjustments to fit all levels. I always appreciate how each class strikes the right balance between challenge and mindfulness — it leaves me feeling both strong and refreshed.
The atmosphere is welcoming and not intimidating, which makes it easy to just show up, move, and breathe. Whether you’re just starting out or have been practicing for years, this place is worth checking out.

The Embody School is a true neighborhood gem. What I appreciate most is the warmth and hospitality from the owner Spira who immediately makes you feel part of the community. Every space of the intimate studio is designed with intention and meraki <3. The instructors are genuinely caring and passionate about yoga, offering not just expert guidance but a sense of warmth and welcome that makes every class special. I love the variety of props, which help make the practice accessible for everyone. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a welcoming, down-to-earth yoga experience!

The Embody School is a beautiful yoga studio and more... recent events have included sound baths, art + meditation, and TRE and reiki healing. Highly recommend the instructors, who each bring their own approaches. Can't say enough about Spira Politis, who has created a community of new and experienced yogis, and a wonderful space!

There are several teachers here , and I have yet to experience a bad class. Or even a “meh” class. There’s personal loving attention for every person. I leave feeling refreshed and renewed every time. Plus, my achy knees aren’t so achy any more. Highly recommend.

This place is amazing and the owner too, a super welcoming person. The location is in a calm street although very close to main points like Galeria Mall and Lechmere. The place is beautifully decorated bringing a calm atmosphere. Many times you can get the sun rising or setting and birds chirping outside. They have a great variety of classes offered and you can always find one that suits you. I love it here!

I was in East Cambridge for the summer and feeling generally ungrounded and anxious in my life. Coming to the Embody School every week was so healing and transformative for my mind/body/spirit. The classes offered a great mix of theory and practice for a yoga novice such as myself. I loved exploring the spiritual and philosophical dimensions of yogic experience, allowing me a respite to escape the spin of my egoic inner-monologue and find my center in breath and the present moment. The Embody School is more than your typical Western-style workout/leisure dojo; Spira has created a community space where healing and creative expression can flourish. One week, we even went on a field trip to the Lowell Folk Festival, Spira's hometown, after a class and spent the afternoon connecting over food and music. What a gift to East Cambridge and all who find themselves amidst such beautiful, compassionate people. I feel fortunate to have stumbled in the door last summer and hope to come back to visit, move, breathe, and play in the near future!

This studio is an oasis. Every detail of this place was carefully crafted. From the moment you walk in the door there is welcoming energy. I tried the New Student Pass to explore as many classes as I could. I know that the slow flows and yins will be my favorite. I cannot wait for the outdoor classes this summer. Thank you for creating a sense of community in the heart of Cambridge. <3

The Embody School is wonderful! Spira is so warm and welcoming, and she's made me so glad to have given yoga a shot. I'd been hesitant for a while because yoga is typically very expensive and daunting to begin for the first time. The pricing Spira's studio offers is very reasonable and she teaches all levels, so I decided to get a monthly pass and try it out. She has been a supportive, patient, and kind teacher, which is exactly what I needed! I'd recommend this studio to everyone. It's a small but inviting space and Spira is really focused on building community. I love her overall mission and inclusiveness — she really makes you feel like a friend and valued student.

I cannot say enough good things about yoga with Spira! She is so passionate and patient, attentive and encouraging! She makes everyone feel comfortable even if they have never sat on a yoga mat before. Joining in from home couldn’t be more accessible. There is no excuse for missing an hour of much needed self care! She is especially great at catering to everyone’s particular aches or concerns. Mine is usually my lower back - she knows just how to ease my pain. When we do twists she says it is like wringing out your spine - it is so true. Spira teaches yoga because she is passionate about helping people and it really shows!
