I could not recommend Pillars of Health more highly. Jonathan is an extremely knowledgeable and skilled trainer, and he cultivates a welcoming and supportive training atmosphere for all of his clients. I appreciated Jonathan's style of gentle encouragement while also pushing me to reach my goals. He helped create a training regimen that was tailored to my individual needs and appropriate for my skill level. My experience at Pillars of Health changed my relationship to fitness--this was the first time in my life that I enjoyed working out!

I have had the privilege of working with Jonathan Carroll since 2013. I first met him early in his career while he was working at a gym in Cambridge. Except for the time he was working in another state, I have followed him wherever he has worked as a personal trainer. Jonathan is not only an exceptional person but also outstanding at what he does. Over the past decade, he has been attentive and thoughtful in developing a program tailored to the unique needs of my body and overall well-being. Working with him has significantly improved my strength, balance, and stamina, while also eliminating aches and pains that have developed over time. Jonathan has a remarkable ability to understand and address individual needs, and a special gift for making people feel truly seen and heard. I started training with Jonathan in my early 60’s with the initial goal of eliminating occasional back spasms, and then I continued in order to improve strength, flexibility and health generally. My goals have been exceeded in ways that I could not have predicted. Jonathan’s awareness of the connections between the body, movement and strength have led to unexpected workouts with positive results that I notice even in daily tasks. Now, training twice a week, I can notice continual improvements, including heart health.

I especially like Jonathan’s sensitivity and responsiveness to every issue of the moment…a sore knee or elbow will lead to changes in the routine on the spot, with adjustments usually having a direct and immediate effect.

Location and parking are convenient, gym is clean, bright and quiet, and Jonathan is always introducing new features, equipment or other items to enhance the experience.

This is the perfect gym for anyone who has resistance to working out and is interested in a wholistic approach. After years of starting and stopping various exercise programs, I started working out with Jonathan 6 months ago, and I love it. I now go twice a week, once on my own and once with a friend for a joint session. The gym is, simply, a very appealing place to be. It's open, airy, and very clean. Jonathan and Chris are warm, knowledgable, prepared, and keep things challenging without making it stressful. It's actually fun, while at the same time being serious. After 6 months, I am much stronger and fitter, and I've learned quite a bit about the benefits of exercise and about health in general. Highly recommend.
