Uechi karate does not do sparing. Big factor missing in kids karate. My son is getting bored of karate but i sincerely do not want him to quit.

The correct way to study real Okinawan karate, taught by the people who have been there many times since the dojo opened in 1974.

This is a great karate dojo. My daughter was hesitant to start but this quickly changed to being excited about going. If you are considering karate for your child you should absolutely give this school a trial. Sensei Ed and Sensai Jean are highly credentialed, have been teaching Karate for decades and somehow perfectly balance a kind and gentle approach with instilling discipline and confidence. I couldn’t be any more satisfied!

Amazing dojo! The passion and dedication is unmatched. We have enjoyed watching our son grow and learn. I attended for many years as a child myself.

I started going to this dojo when I was 10 years old and have never left. Ed and Jean DeCosta are amazing at what they do, and are both Okinawan certified. They teach authentic Okinawan karate at very reasonable rates, and the atmosphere is very accepting. Learning this style of karate with them has taught me discipline and confidence, not to mention it has proven to be a great way to deal with stress. I highly recommend it to anyone thinking about learning karate.

I am so glad I found this karate school. A friend of mine suggested I check it out because my son , who is very shy,(age 8) wanted to try karate and has been a victim of bullying in the pass. It has not happened and because of the accepting attitude demonstrated by the instructors, I don’t believe it will ever happen. They have been doing this a long time, they know kids and are very clear in their expectations of what is acceptable behavior while in the dojo and what is not.

The instructors are great and the classes are small so that he doesn’t get lost in the crowd. He loves it!!

The class for his age meets once a week, but as he advances he will be able to attend more classes. I understand from talking with other parents that some schools have contracts and hidden fees. They don’t have that here and prices here are very reasonable. These people are great...check them out.

I studied under Mr DeCosta for a few years as a teen. It was time well spent, If you are looking for a more traditional school, I highly recommend you visit.
