I checked this place out as I thought it was conveniently located for work, although it’s quite small. I went ahead with a 7 day trial, but was surprised at how high their membership rates are. The lowest being $30 if you commit to 1-yr vs $60 for month to month. I’d understand if this gym had more amenities (sauna, locker rooms, pool, etc) but that rate is too high for a dozen cardio machines, and I don’t want to commit to a whole year. Those $30 get you premium treatment almost anywhere else. On top of it, the place is tacky and messy. Ima take my coins elsewhere.

NOT HAPPY. I was very displeased with my first experience coming in never been in before. The Caldean/ Lebanesse woman working the front was very rude and standoffish. Gave smirky ansewrs and when i inquired about what certifications i would need if i wanted to apply as a personal trainer she was unknowledable. Even tho the branch is convinent to where i live i will not support or work for Said gym. Disappointed

Never sign a contract with this establishment.

I was charged $780 in unauthorized charges after cancellation of my membership.

Although the cancellation process itself was already senselessly difficult, I jumped through the hoops necessary to cancel my membership 9/2016. This process entailed sending a cancellation email to the club confirming the cancellation I had already done in person.

From this point forward I was charged monthly to date, totalling $780. In an attempt to dispute these charges, I peeled back the onion of intentional dissassociation that defines this organizaiton and it's goal to trap people into contracts, and not have responsibility to resolve customer service issues.

Anytime Detroit's billing is handled by a company called ABC. This third party company strictly handles charges and payments. For this reason, they are able to completley eschew any responsibility they have in customer/club financial disputes. Conversely, the club itself is able to leverage this relationship to also deny culpability in such matters.

Digging a bit further, I contacted the "corporate" structure of Anytime Fitness (SE Brands) to request aid. As they explained, every club location is an independent franchise in which they have no authority or governance and thus they too cannot help me resolve this problem.

After repeated attempts to contact the Detroit location, I was finally able to speak to an associate who informed me that the person who processed my cancellation "no longer was with the company", "was fired on bad terms", and "probably deleted the cancellation email". Luckily, I had saved this email which proved to be the saving piece of evidence I had to support my case. She told me that the owner would contact me in five days to discuss the matter. Five days...

I was finally contacted by Dimitrius (manager) who was apologetic, admitted fault, and promised a refund within one week. I asked at the conclusion of the phone conversation that he send an email to confirm the details discussed. It has been over a week and I am yet to hear back from him. I have contacted the club a number of times where I am told he is unavailible and I am met with rudeness, unprofessional behavior, and shortness.

My advice: NEVER sign a contract with this club. The management is clearly uninvolved or does not care about members and the staff is either incompetant to resolve issues or incapacitated by the ownerships lack of resolve. Quicken Loans team members: save yourself a headache and go to the One Woodward Gym. If for whatever reason you are compelled to join after reading this, keep all documentation, block the billing agency via your credit card provider after cancellation, and check your statements for charges that occur after cancellation.

The manager here ( i forget her name) always makes the visit so pleasant. Very tentative to all gym needs when she's there. Shes Always looking for feedback on the facility. Very clean. Easy access. Awesome place.

HORRIBLE customer service. GROSSLY overpriced. Despite the latter, I tried to give them my money. That proved too hard, because there was no one to take it.

Not very safe before or after hours. Key fob entry, but people walk right in as members come and go. I walked in, stood up front for 5 minutes looking through stuff, then roamed the facility aimlessly for 10 minutes, not once stopped by anyone. A couple trainers saw me and chose to ignore me. After 20 minutes I approached a trainer who said the office worker was roaming somewhere. He gave me a 7 day pass and promised to be in at 630am to let me in the door the next day so i could workout. I showed up. He didn't. Nice. Couldn't get in until a member came or went.

Speaking of trainers... Ridiculously overpriced. More than NYC trainers. True rip off.

Lost an easy customer in me. I wanted to pay a year in advance for an overpriced, undersized, unsecure gym only to work out with my wife, who goes there because of its proximity to her job.

Steer clear if possible.

Something for everyone. Classes. Machines. Personal Training. Very Clean and cute. Very friendly staff. The staff is present and willing to help and answer questions during normal business hours. The location is great for working out on your lunch break in Downtown Detroit or if you live Downtown, you can come anytime, no pun intended.

They are huge crooks. They will keep on taking money out of your account even after your contract is over. I sat there and talked to them about it being my last month and they sat there acting like it was just going to go away..... WRONG they will keep charging you until you call and say you no longer want to use them even though your contract is up and of course they don't tell you there going to keep charging you until after they charge you. Trying to steal your money from right under your nose.
