I just recently joined AF at the 14 & Campbell (Madison Heights) location, but this one is more convenient for me. The Madison Heights one is definitely bigger and has more equipment, but this one is newer. I came from a larger gym, The Edge, where I was at for two years. This location is nice! I like how clean and new it is. You can tell the new ownership and management team made the place better. I was a little skeptical at first due to the initial bad reviews, but I think those concerns have been addressed that I have noticed since working out here. The only thing I would suggest for improvement is a few of the TVs seem to be off all day. And of course, like any gym, more equipment would be nice! But this is a great location if you want to get a good workout at a clean and new place! :-)

I give it two stars because it is super clean. It's tiny, has one shower, and a manager with an attitude problem. I saw that you could bring a friend. The advertising doesn't mention only during day time hours. The manager complained to me like an angry racist uncle. So I added my friend to my membership. I was thinking since he is on my membership it shouldn't be a big deal if we walk in together. I was wrong. He had a fit about that. Two days later nobody can tell me why my membership is cancelled.

Although I like this one, it isn’t super clean. Constantly out of cleaning wipes, there was once a dead bat in the middle of the floor, and the water filter has been on red (bad,dirty) for atleast 4 months now. Only thing I like it’s the size cause it’s smaller and the people (guest) that come regularly are chill.

Please change the water filter tho, I’d like to be able to refill my water here, as the membership itself is a littler over priced, and not have to constantly bring spares from home

Very nice new gym. It's clean and has a lot for it's size. Lots of fresh equipment, tv's, music, foam rollers, hand wipes, treadmills and bikes, 2 restrooms, a shower room, locker area for gym bags, etc. Only machines I saw missing are a bicep and glute machine. Minor things that weren't installed yet for the shower like a mirror and hand dryer/paper towels and trash and a shower curtain and rug to step on to avoid slipping when you get out. There was also no grab bar. But they are still brand new and revamping the area, I'm sure! I'm excited this gym was put in this location and have high hopes for it. I'd recommend visiting it.

Update: it's been 2 months and none of those minor amenities have been updated. I don't recommend a sweaty gym sesh here because they don't have basic shower necessities. For example, the soap dispenser has been empty since they started the gym up. It's minor things again, but necessary to maintain and keep your customers and keep them happy. Like others have said, it's lacking in some areas so maybe try different anytime.

Very nice. brand new equipment. Friendly staff (Dirk). However, this place will be out of business in a year. they are simply too expensive. $20 every 2 weeks is just too much for a club this size that lacks amenities such as a locker room, sauna, pool, tanning..etc. Its just too small..
