We absolutely love Aqua Tots! Every single person here is amazing and makes the experience so welcoming and fun. Morgan, Kasey, and Melita at the counter are always friendly (and smiling) and do such a great job remembering everyone’s names and making us feel at home.

The swim coaches — Madalyn, Ayriana, Rileigh, Audrey, Nate, Dani, and Chris — are incredible (I'm sure they are all great, but these are the ones we've had)! They are patient, encouraging, and know how to keep the kids engaged while still making safety the top priority. Our daughter has ADHD, and they go above and beyond to keep her focused, supported, and excited about learning to swim.

Sending our son to Aquatots Portage has been one of our best parenting decisions. Our son loves the water now and LOVES coach Lauren! Starting our daughter at 6 months old and she is currently 20 months old, we can’t thank Aqua-Tots enough for pushing our kiddo in the parent/baby classes! She can hold her breath for over 5 seconds, touch the bottom of the pool mostly unassisted, and LOVES all of the coaches! I have been taking two of my grandtreasures to swimming lessons at Aqua-tots for the last two+ years (now 5 yrs & 3 yrs). My youngest grandtreasure (18mos) is also now enrolled with her parents. We participate in weekly lessons as well as the open swim times for extra practice and fun. All of them love their coaches! Every coach, without exception, has been warm, engaging, encouraging and supportive. Aqua-tots has created a welcoming, “can do” culture there that makes us WANT TO go to swimming lessons instead of HAVE TO go to swimming lessons. My son was asked not to return because he was talking about Jesus with one of the other children who were waiting their turn. They gave no warning that they would not except free speech. The other child was interested in what Aaron was saying. --- I never thought this would happen in America in my lifetime.
Then, in an e-mail, they asked for feedback. When I wrote something similar to the above, they responded by attacking my husband's character. They claimed my husband encouraged my son to behave poorly. They also claimed that he was unavailable to the instructors even though he never left the building during the lesson. Now, 2 months later, they texted me with a link asking for a Google review. They really need to check the quality control of their autimated feedback requests. I can't imagine they wanted me to post this, but here it is. The positive: when we chose to remove our other 2 children from classes, they did not require a 30 day notice. There, at the end, we did not have to pay for the classes we chose not to take despite the policy. That was decent of them. Also, my daughter was really making progress. I would love to find her another swim instructor.

It would be nice to get the full half hour that we pay for. The instructors always start late and end early. Also you close the pool for cleaning and Don’t offer a credit for the class that is canceled. I would never recommend you to anyone. When we signed up we said we only wanted a month and because we didn’t tell you on the first we are charged for classes for the next month. Aqua Tots in Portage, Mi is a fantastic place to help develop your child’s water safety skills and confidence as a swimmer. The staff is literally incredible, I’d name drop each and everyone of them if space allowed, they are extremely welcoming and are flexible if something comes up and you’re not able to make it to a class, by adding a “make up” date to your account. Also, the actual operation is truly impressive, in groups of 2-4 kids per 30 minute class, you’ll arrive, check in, wait for your name to be called, 30 min training, quick rinse off and a 2 minute 1 on 1 after EACH CLASS with coach, as they share what techniques to work on. Definitely worth the investment into your kids future water safety.

I have been beyond happy with our experiences so far with Aqua-Tots in Portage. The price is a bit steep, however, my husband and I wanted to try this out because our youngest (who turned 5 in January) has been so nervous around water. Previous to us starting at Aqua-Tots we were at another program for almost a year, and he refused to put his face or head in the water, would not jump in, would struggle with swimming on his back. Our kiddo loves the idea of water and would want to go in the water but was just so nervous about it. We started Aqua-Tots in mid-December, and I have just been so very happy with my kiddos progress. The instructors are so calm and engaging, the class size is small (I have only seen 3 kids in class together, but I think they can go up to 4), and they encourage the kids to get more comfortable with the water. Now my kiddo intentionally puts his face in the water, will swim under water to retrieve a ring, and is getting more and more comfortable on his back. He is still working on getting comfortable in the pool and learning how to swim unassisted, but in the two months we have been going to Aqua-Tots (only once a week because that is all we can afford currently), I have seen IMMENSE progress. I would HIGHLY recommend Aqua-Tots for anyone who wants their child to get more comfortable with the water - especially if you have a nervous kiddo!

It’s a great environment very positive staff and instructors. BUT, we’ve been members for only two months and class has been canceled more than we’ve been. Plus we registered for a 1:40 pm class on 1st day they looked at me like I made the error in scheduling. No one apologized they just treated me like it was my fault. There WASN’T a 1:40 class but NO ONE contacted us. I’m really not happy with this school at all.

This place is a racket, they have a structure that is supposed to reward the kids as they progress, however between having a different coach each lesson, and sharing a half hour lesson with multiple kids, the rate of progress is slow at best. Then they use the idea of being "close" to the next level to string you along with the hopes of actually achieving something. After 6 months in the program, our child still has not even been taught the basics of treading water.

If that's not enough, they cancel lessons at the drop of a hat, then force you into rescheduling at other times which is inconvenient, or you loose the lesson entirely that you already have been charged for. Quitting is a feat similar to leaving a gym membership, hope you read the 30 day notice fine print...Stay away and try a different program.

Both are my kids started recently, and so were at the same level but with different instructors. My youngest got more "stars" for progressing, and I wondered if she'd be advanced to next level before older sibling since I could see oldest was doing just as well. I talked to the teacher and the person on deck that day took the time to check the oldest's skill levels in a separate lane and he was promoted that very day! His confidence in himself soared. Soon after, my youngest got a "play date" with coach Bethany to work 1-on-1 because after a couple of classes it was always this just one skill to work on and having that individual attention helped, so was promoted right after that. I'm glad they took the time to assess individual skill levels and help my kids build confidence, along with safety and swim skills.

Our instructor Lori went over and above our expectations this week. Our daughter was having a rough time at the beginning of class, and Lori was able to give her a few extra minutes to calm her down and get her focused. She did not have to do that as she has an entire class to teach. But the fact that she took time to do so really made my husband and I, trust her even more. Lori is AMAZING and she is a blessing to Aqua Tots and the families!

A good friend of ours told us about this place as we mentioned we were looking for other swim options for our two younger girls. After hearing about their success woth it figured would gi d it a try and we absolutely love it. Our 3 yr old and 6 yr old both enjoy coming every week and the flexibility in the schedule makes it a very realistic experience for any family looking to get swim classes in for the kids.

The customer service has always been very helpful as well when we needed any information or changes to be made. Absolutely wonderful experience and excited to have our girls continue classes for years to come.

Aqua-tots is a great place. My son loves going and knows every Thursday that he is going! He usually loves his coaches. I will say my only complaint is that the coaches change so frequently. We switched classes to be with a certain coach and without notification he now has a different coach. They have to start all over learning my sons ability which means he doesn't always get to progress.

Can't say enough great things about Aqua tots, the desk staff is always super friendly and helpful with a smile. Sean and Bethanie are the best, you can't go wrong with any of the instructors they are all great. The pool is warm, like really warm, the kids aren't shivering with blue lips when they come out. Miss a class? It's OK you can schedule a makeup easily on the app. Did I mention the open swim? Love the open swim.

Highly recommend, I am so impressed with AquaTots. The facilities are sparkling clean, staff has been incredibly kind and patient with me and my grandson and we have not been easy! I have my 1.5 year old and 2.5 year old in classes. My oldest had done swim classes before but they were more to get used to the water. The way AquaTots classes are structured have made such a difference already, just a few classes in. I already feel so much safer and confident with my kids around my in-laws pool this summer. I highly recommend starting these classes with your kids. We were able to jump right in with both kids ages, no issues with starting either kid with no experience regardless of their age.

My kids have become much better and more confident swimmers in the past year at Aqua Tots. Shout out to Coach Roe who we've been with since Aqua Tots opened. He is encouraging and hilarious, and spot on with his feedback of swimmer performance. We're currently in one of the last classes of the day, and just this week, he made eye contact with my kids through the glass panel after lessons and did an extra stunt for them in the water. All around great experience thus far!

We have had a great experience at Aqua-Tots portage! Our girls, particularly love Coach Roe. He is always encouraging them and pushing them when he knows they need it, but also, he is so nurturing and kind when they are feeling apprehensive. When we started a year ago, our six-year-old still needed a life jacket. She is now jumping and retrieving things at the bottom of the pool, swimming the breaststroke, And honestly swims better than her dad and I! Highly recommend

The staff at Aqua Tots in Portage are phenomenal. There have been times that kiddos have been challenging (my own included) and staff are all SO good about following the lead of the parent in terms of how to handle each unique situation. Being a psychological therapist myself, I tend to be observant of how folks handle emotional situations and all of the staff here are so good with children AND adults. I don't know how they do it. I have seen desk staff members and others step in to help and hold a kiddos hand or gently reassure or comfort them. As a parent it means so much to see folks go the extra mile for kids. They will encourage kids in a loving and respectful manner but also be respectful of boundaries or when a kiddo just needs a different approach. I cannot say enough about ALL of the staff here. They have a superb team! Strong work everyone! We appreciate you!

We love Aqua-Tots and highly recommend them for any family! The coaches are patient and kind, the class sizes are never more than 4 so the kids are getting a lot of time in the water, the building and pool is always clean, and the staff is so friendly. We love taking advantage of the Otter Club for free swim whenever we can, such a great option. I appreciate their focus on water safety while also letting the kids have fun. Extra bonus is there are plenty of levels for the kid to continue to grow their skills and enjoy lessons!

The supposed “general manager” refused to listen to the complaints I have, kept interrupting me, got loud with me, wouldn’t give me a different number to file a complaint with someone else and then hung up on me.
All I was looking for was understanding in why we felt the need to cancel my daughter’s swim lesson: the teacher blatantly didn’t speak with me after the lessons about my daughters progress like she did with other parents, spent less time with my daughter on tasks (my daughter clearly wasn’t a favorite and others were), my daughter has adhd and sensory processing disorder so swimming has been difficult for her and she was just getting disregarded. I mentioned a refund for this month, after I thought I canceled on the app, as well as paying for last month and not attending, that’s when they got loud and kept interrupting me. I am not quick to cry, but I was crushed to be treated this way and feel like my daughter didn’t matter. The money is one thing, but the complete disregard for human emotion? While working with children? Save your money, don’t enroll.

I love Aqua Tots more than I ever thought I would. With all the lakes and water that is everywhere in Michigan, I think it is critical that children learn to swim as soon as possible to prevent accidents. It is a great weekly outing for my grandson and I, and he looks so forward to our "swimming date" every week. I love the staff at the Portage Aqua Tots. I have never had any type of issue with any of them, but near and dear to my grandson, Frank Fowler, and myself we simply adore Miss Kaycee who works at the front desk. She is incredible with the children and Frank looks forward to seeing her all week. It is a great place to go and I am thankful they opened one in Portage.

We started aqua tots about 3 months ago. I was nervous at first for when I hear the word tot I think of toddlers, but I placed my 5 year old and my 7 year old in it, and they love it! Just in the 3 months my oldest now has improved her skills in free style and backstroke and holding her breath longer then my 5 year old can now float and reach down to the bottom of the pool! I wanted them to be in swim lessons for with are outside alot and swim alot and this was the best decision we could have made! The staff is great, and with the app, they make everything convenient.

We love Coach Isabella and could not be happier with Aqua Tots! Our daughter has been going for 6 months now and we are so excited about the progress she has made. After a month of swim class we have really enjoyed everything about Aqua Tots. The swim coaches all follow the same curriculum so if you need to make up a class with a different teacher it doesn’t interrupt learning. The facility is new, clean and an inviting environment. The staff are amazing and VERY good with the kids. The amount of time they spend with the kids is only 30 minutes, but that's exactly the amount of time most kids can keep their attention on one task and they do an amazing job keeping their attention.
