Be Nice is a welcoming, unpretentious studio. The instructors offer varying focuses, interests, styles, and vibes -- so you should test out a few class styles/instructors and find what works for you. Some that work best for my schedule and preferences are Monica's Abhyasa, and Caitlin's, Esmerelda's, and Shannon's Vinyasa classes.

I love this place! I bought a package a few weeks ago to try out the different classes offered since it had been a bit since going to a class. I first went to Lindsey's Hatha yoga class on Wesnesday's at 6:45. It was the PERFECT class to help me get back into the swing of things! She is a wonderful instructor with a calming nature. I also went to Caitlin's Restorative yoga class on Monday's at 6:45 as well. This was also an fantastic class! I was just getting over being sick and it was such a soothing practice. Caitlin is very informative with her instruction during this class. I left feeling invigorated with a new & positive mindset. I especially enjoy that this studio does not have the pretentious vibe that you can often experience at other studios in the metro Detroit area. All instructors are very helpful, encouraging & welcoming. Highly recommend!

Thursday, February 26 2015 I attended my first class (Abhyasa) @ Be Nice and it will be the LAST. Worst yoga experience ever and I've practiced Vinyasa, Ashtanga, and Bikram all over the US (Denver, Washington D.C., Charlotte, Chicago, Wilmington). Front desk attendant rudely approached me in the parking lot saying "keep your voice down there's a yoga class going on upstairs" after I cheerfully shared I'm new/visiting.

Upon entering the studio the front desk attendant exemplified nothing close to "Being Nice" as she was not welcoming, zero studio etiquette, never offered class packages, never thanked me for coming....but was scolded after class for not writing my name on a sheet.

Silly me, I thought the two page information sheet I filled out at beginning of class was enough. Again, no direction from functionary at the front desk. Namaste...Now- must-go

This is such a great yoga studio! I honestly never expected to fall in love with the yoga practice as much as I did, but it has quickly became an essential part of my life. The owner of BE NICE yoga, Monica, actually hosts yoga sessions at my college, so I was first exposed to it there, and I love her teaching style. She made it easy for a total beginner to not feel bad for not getting a pose right on the first try, and to not worry about what anyone else is doing and really make the practice your own. When I finally got the chance to take a class at her studio I was amazed at how much of a difference it made to practice there versus at home or in a classroom. I was able to take a vinyasa class with Monica, as well as some more relaxing, slow paced classes that Caitlin teaches and all of them were great! I left feeling calm, relaxed, well stretched out and ready to tackle the rest of my day. I also love the fact that compared to some of the studios I have looked into in the past, this one is much more affordable, because lets face it, for a college student that matters. So if you are in the metro-detroit area, I HIGHLY recommend stopping in to check this place out!

My favorite place to practice Yoga! I attended classes for years here and have recently moved away. I miss this place dearly. The instructors are fantastic and has the best view in the city! I highly recommend practicing here.

I am extremely impressed with Be Nice yoga. I don't really enjoy practicing at cookie cutter yoga studios that emphasize burning calories, play distracting easy listening music, and sell overpriced designer yoga pants. Be Nice embodies the essentials of the practice, from it's open, simple, lovely windowed studio to the kindness and patience from every instructor. As a second-time beginner, I don't feel rushed or behind in practice, and I feel there is a balanced emphasis on meditation and breathing as well as the body and movement. I have come back to yoga for more reasons than just exercise, and for this, I feel at home in this studio. It is also convenient because I am a resident of New Center, and the Midtown Detroit location is close by and safe.

I am confident that owner and instructor Monica Breen knows what she is doing and is operating the studio for the right reasons. I highly recommend it.

BE NICE Yoga is the best Yoga Studio I have had the pleasure of taking classes in. It is an incredibly friendly, safe and nurturing environment. They offer a variety of classes that vary in intensity and can be taken by any student, regardless of your level. The instructors and students are wonderful and I feel welcomed and accepted, even though I am new to yoga. I love that the instructors offer modifications and never push you to do something you are not comfortable doing. I definitely recommend taking a class here.

I have been going to Be Nice Yoga for almost a year. At that time I had recently moved to the Downtown Detroit area and I wanted to practice at a location that was close to home. Since I have been attending classes, I have found myself becoming stronger, more flexible and more confident with each class. The environment is non-competitive and it allows me to grow at my own pace.

There are a variety of class types for a variety of levels. I enjoy Tuesday and Thursday classes because I enjoy the intensity of VINYASA, but there is also a less intense class right after. Totally <3 it!

You are going to love the opportunity to honor your body, yourself, your life and your practice. Be Nice yoga is my favorite in the whole metro area. I tried several other places in the area before I found this studio and it finally felt like I found a place to come home to. You will not only feel like you took care of your body but also your life and left the world around you to be a little bit of a nicer place.
