Updated review - sticking with the 5 star rating. The faculty, the staff, and the entire philosophy on how they work with the kids is top notch. Class sizes remain smaller with the student to teacher ratio, which is perfect since this allows equal focus for each student to learn and not feel left out or only partially taught like some other places we've used in the past.

Big Blue Swim School on Hall Road ! I love this swimming school. I love the fact you get a trial lesson , it helps you as a parent see if this is a right fit for you and your kid. Also the staff is amazing very polite, professional and always ready and able to address any concerns you may have, the swimming progress updates are great too. As parents we want the not but the best for our kids so I’m happy I shopped around before deciding on going with BBSS. I believe it was the best choice. The only thing I would suggest is to maybe have showers for families (they do have showers for girls and boys) but this is a very very very small concern. Overall BBSS is top notch, if you decide to trust the staff with teaching you kiddos to swim I believe you won’t regret it.

Overall I would say the experience here was good. The staff was always very friendly, the instructors were great. There are a few critiques I would make would be possibly a little more training for the new instructors before they have a class with the smaller aged children (beginners) there was a lot of water in the children's mouth because of not waiting for them to close their mouth before submersions. Also many of the lessons and progression steps for children in the beginning levels seem almost impossible to accomplish. I mean how can a 3 month-3 year old child do a wall crawl WITHOUT assistance,across an entire side of a pool? Lolll so besides those couple things this was a good experience and I would do it again.

We used to love it here. But they are not equipped to deal with kids who are a little different. My son had ADHD and they are not able to deal with this well. They yell and punish him for his inability to think the same as others. It’s very sad and heartbreaking to watch him go to loving it here to not. They need better training and one of the assistant managers needs to think about how she talks to kids and watch her tone.

Joining swim class helped build my son’s confidence in swimming. Last summer he was two and wouldn’t let me go when we went swimming. One month of lessons and he was swimming all by himself! I am amazed with how well-run and organized this place is. Every detail is thought of, from entering the pool area, time efficiency so you get every bit of lesson that you pay for squeezed into that half hour, as well as exiting the pool with showers and back to the changing room.
Changing rooms are huge and have more than enough room for a child with parent. Every single one has a diaper changing station and a bench for sitting.
Cubbies are available to stash your things.
Parents have full view of their child's lesson. The observation room is very large and it's so nice and quiet, they even have peaceful music playing. It's a nice break for parents, lol! And you get to watch your child be trained in swimming. I like the chairs they have for observation, and they even have a counter where you could bring your laptop to work and charge if absolutely necessary.

After or before lesson there are fun gym mats that kids love to run and jump around on too. It's great to get the wiggles out for younger kids. They have giant connect four and a coloring table too.

The only cons we've experienced, and the cons are are small, is the size of the lanes and the speed at which they let kids progress through the classes. The lanes are a little tight for four children (which is their max class size). I also felt like my kids could have progressed a little quicker through their benchmarks but I suppose that comes down to theory. They want your child to have perfect swimming form but I just kind of want them to be able to swim. It all depends on your preference.
Bottom line, you get what you pay for. This is a fantastic swim school.

We love Big Blue. We have been to other swim schools, but the service we receive from the staff both in and out of the pool is much better. Staff is more helpful and not too busy. They explain the policies well. The instructors give more time attention to each student. The facility is clean and bright and more open. The prices are really good too. Just everything we like so much better. Our instructor is Spencer and he is so kind and interacts really well with the kids. They seem to have fun while learning skills and swim safety. I highly recommend Big Blue Swim School.

My main issue is 4 kids to one instructor. When my child was making progress, the next lesson felt wasted because he was placed with a smaller child who needed a lot more attention. The staff was great though and my last issue is their cancellation policy. I asked to be unenrolled and no one returned my call or text until 10 days later. I wanted a refund seeing as my child didn’t attend classes for the month, the month that was paid. Sometimes people may not be able to give a 30 day notice to stop attending lessons. I don’t like this policy at all. I wouldn’t recommend

I’m not sure what the negative reviews are about. My daughter has been attending swim lessons here for almost 2 months and we’ve not had anything short than a wonderful experience. Polite staff, clean facilities and water. You also get a 1 on 1 with an instructor that provides you a break down on how your child did after every single class. My daughter is advancing here. Both of my kids love it there. They treat my kids with love and care and treat us like family. I love that you can see progress in the app and that they also give you progress reports in person. My kids love also that they give coloring pages and actually post it on the wall when the kids give it back to them, it is something to look forward too for them. The staff at Big Blue wholeheartedly embrace our son with special needs and are so patient and positive with him even though he needs one-on-one support and it takes him longer to learn new skills. They all know his name and how his progress is going and always have an encouraging word. And they listen to parent feedback, share it with all employees, and incorporate it into the lessons. It's been encouraging seeing our son go from a four-pack assisted swimming device to a two-pack and even a one-pack sometimes. Our son loves his lessons. We are very grateful we found Big Blue. We recommend it to all child development staff and therapists so other parents know they have a resource.
