Founded on Krishnamacharya's belief that 'if you can breathe, you can do yoga', we are a very welcoming studio, offering a variety of in-person and online movement-based yoga classes, as well as Pilates, meditation, special events and workshops, where the goal is to heal through the practice of connecting mind, body and breath to come back to the joyful essence of you truly are! Located in a beautifully renovated historic building in downtown Chelsea, Breathe is a space of connection and community, where you are invited to discover just how good you can feel!

I’m so grateful for Breathe Yoga Chelsea! I used to follow YouTube videos, but practicing in person here has made such a difference. It’s a super welcoming space, whether you’re new to yoga or have been doing it for years. Amy and the other instructors are amazing, and I’ve learned so much since joining the studio two years ago. I can’t recommend enough!

Breathe Yoga offers a great variety of classes with knowledgeable and considerate instructors. The instructors do a great job making their classes adaptable and welcoming for any skill level, offering accommodations for special considerations, and creating options to advance or vary your practice. The class schedule is thoughtfully organized with different classes at different times, making it accessible to busy individual schedules. The space is beautifully organized and maintained and the atmosphere is kind, encouraging, and welcoming. I always feel good walking into a class at Breathe, and I feel even better afterward!

I have only just started my journey with Breath Yoga—today was my fourth visit—and already I can feel the impact it’s having on my life.
As someone who spends most of the day in a fast-paced kitchen, constantly thinking ahead and taking care of others, it’s rare to find a space where I’m encouraged to simply be. Breath Yoga has offered that from day one. There’s a grounded, welcoming energy in the studio that immediately puts you at ease, no matter your experience level or how your day’s been.
Each class has felt like a gentle reset—physically, mentally, emotionally. The instruction is clear, thoughtful, creating space for each person to move and breathe at their own pace. And for me, that’s been everything. I walk out of each session feeling lighter, more present, and incredibly grateful.
I’m still new, but I can already tell this is going to be an important part of my rhythm. A little sanctuary in the heart of Chelsea.
Thank you to Breath for creating such a meaningful space just sorry it has taken so long to come by.

Breathe Yoga Chelsea is a unique studio with an array of classes—something for beginner yogis, and more difficult classes for seasoned yogis seeking a challenge. No matter your level of yoga experience (I'm 68 and by far not a daily practitioner), you will feel comfortable here. The atmosphere is soothing, teachers are personable and accommodating, and classes small. Sue Whitmarsh, the original owner and still a current teacher, is offering a 4 week Intro to Yoga for beginners starting in September. You will not find a better opportunity to learn. At a minimum you will walk away with a smile after listening to Sue's lovely British accent for an hour. A small business offering big benefits to your physical, mental, and emotional health.

So today I went to Susan Whitmarsh is rest and restore class. It was nothing short of amazing. In fact I actually teared up a few times because my body had such a release with this restorative class. Breathe as you know, is one of the premiere yoga studios in Washtenaw County, and they never ever disappoint. The studio just keeps getting stronger with more offerings if you’ve never taken a restorative class or perhaps a yoga Nidra you’re in for a treat. All the classes at Breathe are top-notch but rest and restore is one of the new classes I will add to my yoga practice.🙏

Breathe is an absolute gem! As a former studio owner, I have a huge appreciation for the thoughtful extra touches and personal attention (and warm welcome) Breathe offers it’s students. It’s a real gift to find a new “home” studio in our new town.
This studio truly welcomes everyone at every level, with a carefully curated schedule and a wide array of offerings. I can’t recommend the Restorative and Yin classes enough, especially easing back into practice after an extended time off (and in my case postpartum). It is just what I’ve been looking for to start my mornings with self care.

I LOVE Breathe Yoga and I love it because all the yogi’s are awesome. I have learned so much about myself, my body, my mind, my endurance, my limits and my new found abilities. Nothing makes me happier then when I feel I did a pose or a flow to my best ability. It is a practice and that means I don’t need to be perfect but keep working at my own ability. I feel part of a community of people who are all working at their own level, but in unison on the mat. I also love my mat. Try it, I think you will love it.

I love starting my weeks with a class at Breathe. I could do virtual yoga classes through a different exercise membership at home (already paid for), but I'd rather be in the studio with Amy and the Breathe community. Breathe was the first yoga studio I ever went to and, as a newbie to yoga, I felt so welcomed by Sue and the instructors. There are several beginner-friendly classes and more challenging ones as well. Even with the pandemic, Sue has managed to offer a great variety of classes virtually and outdoors (during the warmer months). I’ve been taking classes with Breathe for over a year now and am so happy — I think the virtual classes are one of the reasons I’ve stayed sane throughout the pandemic!

Breathe Yoga is the go-to place for yoga practice in the Chelsea area. The owner, Sue, and all of the instructors, provide a safe space for yoga practice with no judgement about ability or body image. The studio space is beautiful with gleeming wood floors and a cool, historic brick wall. Always clean and well ventilated. Virtual classes create an engaging, comfortable practice in your own space. Whether you are experienced in your yoga practice or brand new, instructors provide cues for adaptations of poses for those of us with joint issues. A great workout and a chill space to clear your mind and rejuvenate your spirit. Highly recommend Breathe Yoga.

I love Breathe Yoga! The space is so warm and inviting, complete with all the creature comforts for a luxurious practice. I have attended several amazing events at Breathe, including Full Moon Flow, Yin with Gong Sound Healing, and Yoga Nidra with Sue, whose voice is like a gentle hug. Meanwhile, Transformational Breathwork with Christian feels like an express train to cathartic bliss! I have so much enjoyed my time at Breathe that I recently took my Yin Teacher Training there too. In all, it’s a wonderfully welcoming and safe space to take a deep dive inward.

My favorite yoga studio of all time. It's hard not to compare other studios to them but the classes are great, no matter the level. The teachers are amazing at offering advanced options or modifications. They are experts at balancing meditation with the flow and providing a very peaceful and relaxing environment. Many teachers at other studios can't speak calmly enough to walk you through the poses. These teachers know how to allow you to close your eyes and all you have to do is follow they directions they give, listen to their voice, and simply flow. Quite exceptional work.
