I lived in GR for 5 years from 2018-2023 and just came back for one more summer to work. I started with CKO in GR the last 3 years I was living there and then had to go back for the 6 weeks I was back! I took my lacrosse team for some team workouts and that was such a fun experience for all of us & then I became a member myself because I immediately loved it. Shelby is one of the most amazing business owners I’ve ever had the pleasure to get to know. The workouts are awesome, the instructors are tough but inclusive & welcoming. Shelby is the GOAT, she manages to push you harder than you think you can go whilst also making you feel confident that you’re exactly where you should be. My schedule also lead me to Corey’s classes a lot & I loved him. He’s such a good coach & incorporates a lot of thorough fundamentals while keeping up a great pace. Cami is another baller instructor & I was always excited when I could make her classes. The other instructors I just didn’t get the opportunity to cross paths with as often but anytime I did I was not disappointed. This place, this staff, these workouts…amazing stuff!!!! I am so grateful that I went here, it was an unreal addition to my life. One of the parts of GR I will miss the absolute most when I move. GO GO GO, you won’t be sorry!!!!

I've been a member since CKO Opened 8 years ago. It is always a great workout. Every trainer offers a variety of moves and combos. The schedule has tons of options from early morning, afternoon and evening along with weekend classes. Best value and investment in me that I've ever made. 🥊

Once upon a time I couldn't kick and I certainly didn't know how to box. Now, I can do both at the same time. Even an old dog can learn new tricks. RUFF!
It never would have happened without the good people at CKO Kickboxing in Grand Rapids. Every time I attend a class, I'm reminded why I'm so glad I became a member.
No one really wants to hear someone's exercise stories. It's like going to a dinner party and showing people photos of your cats in their Halloween costumes. Yes, we smile and nod, but we are secretly judging you. Cats don't eat Twix!!!!!
But folks, listen you must to my exercise saga: I've never done anything that compares to kickboxing as a full-body workout. And I enjoy doing it. For years I've been a runner. For years I've concentrated on cardio, cardio, and more cardio. For years I've been a nincompoop.
That's because kickboxing is cross-training. It's not just punching and tossing your smelly feet at a bag (though that's great fun). It's also what you do to warmup, and the intervals you do between pounding the bag, like cardio, and weight training, and flexibility, and much more. Hey, and it's accessible for anyone, because you can go at your own pace, and the instructors will help you.
Every part of my body is better off for going to CKO. My legs, my arms, I swear maybe even my eyelids are stronger and in better shape. And we all know how we can let our eyelids get flabby.
I got hooked (kickboxing term) thanks to Annarella: she's a very kind person and also an excellent instructor. I can't imagine her ever getting cross (kickboxing term). I recommend her highly. She made me a customer. But, I'm certain you will enjoy any instructor at CKO.
I joined CKO for weight loss, and so far in three weeks, I'm down five pounds. I'm confident I'll reach my goals. And when I do, I'm sure I'll feel wonderful, look great, and be so fit that I will outlive my enemies.

The entire CKO community, from trainers to the athletes, are all phenomenal people. It's honestly one of my favorite stuff to do in GR. I am always looking forward to the next class and it never disappointed me. I wish we had one back home in Italy...

I am an open water swimmer and have engaged in a myriad of sporting activities just to be able to enter the water somewhat fit at the beginning of the season. I suffer while jogging/hiking/cycling but this sport is the greatest land sport I have ever tried. The team is exceptional. Classes are offered for every work and life schedule. I can throw punches with the best of them. All right-maybe not as fast but everyone profits from the corporeal and ceberal coordination.

To be clear, this is NOT a Kickboxing class. This is just a HIT class that happens to include a punching bag. Don’t expect to learn kickboxing, or be instructed on boxing techniques etc. it’s literally just a High intensity cardio workout class like any others offered at most workout facilities. I was expecting actual kickboxing lessons, not loud rap music and random cardio.

I've never done kickboxing before in my life but CKO made it super easy and fun to get into. The staff is extremely nice and helpful and I felt welcomed the second I walked in! I've been taking classes for about a month now and enjoy it more and more each time. Nick is an energetic and fun instructor. His classes are a blast to take! While I've never had any other instructor, if they're even half as good as Nick then you're without a doubt in good hands. If this is something you've been wanting to try for the first time, CKO is the place to go!

If you're looking for a gym and classes that offer you a total variety. This is the place! Every instructor is a little bit different. There are so many different class times and two locations. It's truly a total body workout. With body weight training, high intensity intervals, and you get to hit things to relieve stress. I've been a member since they opened, going on four years now. And it's still challenges me every single time!

I've been a member since December 2017 and this is easily my all-time favorite place to workout and the only place I've been able to consistently stick with. Each instructor brings their own unique twist to the classes (plus killer playlists) so I'm always being challenged, and I've never been in better shape. I always look forward to going to class! Plus, even though they are closed during COVID quarantine, they are still posting video workouts that have been just as challenging and fun. I absolutely love CKO.

I began kickboxing with CKO regularly around October 2019. This was my first experience with the sport and I became addicted to the highly intense and varied workout structure. Not only is CKO's staff friendly, they know your name after going a few times (which can't be easy with the amount of people that go) and even challenge you during workouts!
After a few months of going here 3 to 4 times a week I noticed changes in my cardio, balance, form, and even a few changes to my body when looking in the mirror. I would recommend signing up to anyone; you will be happier after every workout!

We really like CKO. My wife and I previously kickboxed in and relocated to GR from Iowa – so we’ve experienced other programs. This one is great. No “gymtimidation” here – newcomers welcomed immediately. This is a solid and meaningful workout – cardio, heavy bag striking and core. I personally love the heavy bag work. Terrific instructors get the best out of you regardless of your initial condition, skill level or age - and we’re just turning 60 so we know. Great workout. Great environment. Great workout family.

Whether you do the 45 minute class or 1 hour class, you are getting the most efficient workout in (better calorie burn in less time than going to the gym by yourself). Where can I begin to convey my LOVE for CKO Kickboxing Grand Rapids Downtown?! I have been a proud CKO addict since April 2016 and never looked back. I was always an active person, but nothing has really kept my interest until this!
Being at CKO helps me to de-stress, especially when I’m having a bad day or just need to get away. I have lost an entire dress size since joining CKO and what’s more, I no longer do wimpy push-ups!! CKO is now an integral part of my life. Thank you Shelby for bringing CKO to Grand Rapids and all the wonderful trainers there who push us to our limit and help us to achieve our fitness goals! It’s one of the BEST gyms out there for a great, sweaty, full body workout. My cardio, endurance and strength have increased drastically over the past years. I can attend classes every day of the week and one of the instructors would still give you a killer workout that result in sore muscles the next couple of days. I also love the CKO app, endless awesome soundtracks and all the holiday special 75 CRUSHER classes!

I've been taking classes here since January of 2018. CKO has a wide variety of instructors that are all focused on creating a positive environment that pushes you as much as you want without creating a judgemental atmosphere. CKO is great for three reasons. 1) Loud/energetic music 2) Get to beat the hell out of a bag 3) Instructors encourage you to go as hard as you can. I also like that with a monthly membership I can engage in this behavior as many times per week as I want.

Kickboxing is an efficient use of an hour at the gym. Full body workout, with an element of stress relief. I took a couple pad training courses with Chad to learn how to kick and throw properly, I HIGHLY recommend doing that. I paid in full for the year, which averages out to less than a YMCA membership. Yes it is only a class vs the whole place, but if you're like me, you'll just end up in the sauna. Kickboxing has shown immediate results for me, I love it!

Kickboxing is cardio, strength, core and endurance all wrapped in one. Group classes aren't usually my thing. The thing I love most about CKO is that you get the energy of a large group and the instructor, but you get to be in your own zone with the bag in front of you. I prefer the 45-minute KBX classes, which are high-intensity cardio workouts with plenty of upper and lower body bag work. The variety of class times and instructors means I can "change it up" whenever things start feeling a little stale. Wish I had discovered kickboxing earlier in life.

To tell you the truth, working out is typically not something I enjoy or can muster the energy to do. Well 30 hit and as we all know, hormones play a huge role in our lives. Making it harder to maintain my "naturally" thin figure. So I now I have to do something... Kickboxing has got me excited! I actually look forward to it, weird right 😜💪🏼 it is Super fun, high energy, explosives workout! You do not have to have experience or training. The teachers are great and help you along the way. If you stick to this work out, you will start to see results at a faster pace than other workouts. It kicks your metabolism up, tones your body all while reliving stress. I would highly recommend this to anyone trying to find their way, in order to maintain a healthy body and mind ✌🏼️❤️💪🏼
