The first time I tried to book a class here they called me incessantly which is a problem because I work at the hospital and my calls are important. I asked them to please not call, but when I went to book a class the second time they called again and then texted when I didn't pick up. I finally booked a class that was two weeks out because their trial classes were all full. I never even got to take the class because they texted me the day before to say there are three available spots and would I like to bring a friend. I had two friends say they were interested so I texted the coach their information. The coach texted one of my friends a confirmation and the other was texted that they were on the waitlist. This was all right because we figured someone else had grabbed two spots. The next day they told me *both* my friends were on the waitlist, which means they bumped my friend off the list and onto the waitlist. This was told to me an hour before the class was set to start. My friend had already gotten ready and was excited at the prospect, but when she heard she was bumped to the waitlist she didn't want to drive 20 minutes in the snow to possibly not get into the class. Also they got my name wrong twice even though I spelled it for them. Overall the communication was poor and unprofessional.

I really love both Ann Arbor studios. I only join for a couple months at a time and have done this twice now. I get the unlimited package, which allows me to take as many classes as I want. The downside of the unlimited package is that it still limits how many classes you can book at a time but it seemed to work out.

Club Pilates has been amazing! I took a free intro class on a whim (without knowing much about Pilates) and quickly fell in love. The staff and instructors are thorough and kind. I leave every class feeling even better than the last - both physically and mentally. I also have a very busy schedule and appreciate how many classes are offered at various times during the week.

Club Pilates in Ann Arbor is amazing! Challenging classes and warm inviting instructors. I especially enjoy Charlene’s classes. She takes the time to learn each member’s name and work on our form individually. Would 100% recommend this studio.

After getting an ad on social media, I decided to try the free intro class offered by the studio. The instructor was kind and helpful, and I really appreciated getting a chance to get to know the equipment and some of the movements before paying to walk blindly into a full class. After 12 more classes, I'm hooked! I've never been able to keep a workout routine like I have been with pilates. It's a tough workout, but feels gentle on the body, as you're often lying down and supported by the reformer and the resistance it provides. The studio itself is clean and well maintained. Most of the classes I have been to are with Lynn. She's tough, but she's great at ensuring you're doing the movements correctly, both for your safety and for the effectiveness of your workout. I've already noticed myself getting stronger, and I'm excited to continue with classes here!

They have a cancelation policy where you have to notify them 1 month in advance to cancel.
1. The front desk person did not explain this to me when signing up.
2. When I emailed the person telling that I was not notified of this policy when signing up, she kept saying she did notify me. Why would I not know this if I was clearly informed?

I was going to stop for a month after the first month and come back to continue but I was totally turned off by the dishonesty and attitude of the person name Megan. How she did not admit her mistake and instead blame the customer.

I really wanted to continue but I am quitting after the FORCED 2nd month.

On a whim, I decided to stop by Club Pilates (Washtenaw Ave.) to learn more about the program. I fell hook, line and sinker for the program after my intro class. Everyone was so nice-Grace, Marybeth and Charlene were so welcoming. I enjoy Marybeth (works you out honey) and Charlene (the Pilates Guru) classes and they are AMAZING instructors! They are inspirational! I am doing my best not to become addicted to this BUT IT IS VERY HARD because I enjoy it so much! I’m grateful!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this studio <3 Each instructor brings something unique but all are incredibly knowledgeable, supportive, and encouraging. Every single class I've been to has been different, which is important to me because I need variety to stick with something. Pilates connects me to, and works my body in ways other forms of exercise don't. It forces me to be present and mindful, and I carry that with me into the rest of my day. They truly care about you here and want to give you the best possible experience. Try an introductory class, and you'll be hooked!

Great experience in the class, but then when we were leaving we heard the instructor and woman working the front desk talking badly about my friend and me. We were respectful and quiet the whole time so it was very surprising to hear the people who were so kind to us being so rude behind our backs.

UPDATE- I still have not been reimbursed for charges incurred after I cancelled my membership. This place was closed during the months I got charged. I quit on March 7th 2020 and had to pay for March, April, May, and June. Their policy is 1 month notice, but I shouldn't have had to pay for May and June. They weren't even open in May or June! I had to initiate a stop payment to get charges to stop. They offered online classes that I never took (I get free online classes as a benefit from my work). I disputed this transaction, but they wouldn't reply to my calls/emails and they still charged me. I found out this happened to many others as well. Now the owner Nick is falsely claiming account is in collections (maybe if he discredits me my review seems less valid but there are other similar reviews here). Really dirty business practices! I am all about supporting small businesses but being scammed is something I will not forgive. I think it is important to warn others. There are Pilates classes elsewhere- save your money and don't give any cash to these crooks!

ORIGINAL REVIEW- This place will continue to charge you after you cancel. Then they will not return calls or try to resolve. Instructors are good but customer service is terrible. I was a member for several years and they treated me so bad. I reported them to Better Business Bureau.

I have enjoyed my first month at Club Pilates(Washtenaw branch)! I always feel refreshed after the class. This being my first month, I can only attend reformer level 1 classes, but I think it is fair. It helps you get acquainted with the pilates equipment. Looking forward to move to the next level :)
The studio is kept clean by sanitizing all used equipments after every class. All the stations are well spaced and well equipped.

UPDATE- I still have not been reimbursed for charges incurred after I cancelled my membership. This place was closed during the months I got charged. I reported this place to Better Business Bureau, and next I will report fraud to Federal Trade Commission. The owner will not return calls or emails, and he just keeps doing this to people again and again- do your research!

Just a warning- don't join Club Pilates (aka Club Pirates) in Ann Arbor. They ripped me off badly - don't let this happen to you. They do not cancel your membership after you fill out the paperwork to leave in the club. I quit on March 7th and had to pay for March, April, May, and June. Their policy is 1 month notice, but I shouldn't have had to pay for May and June. They weren't even open in May or June! UPDATE: They reached out and they said they lost my cancelation form "we had someone working here that was unreliable"... said they will follow up, now wont return a phone call or email.

Place is a scam. Signed up for the 3-month trial and was not able to use it much, so called to cancel. They continued to charge me, so i called again and emailed (for documentation) 2 months later, no email reply or returned phone call. of course tried again, to no avail. Continued to charge me for 8 months until i just cancelled the credit card. and they i received an email that I'm past due since the card on file was not working! Maybe I'll get a response now?!

I've had a full membership for this studio for several years. I have not ever had an instructor or class that I did not love! The variation in teaching styles and personalities keeps the experience fun and fresh. The workout is great and my body is very much missing the classes I attend several times a week (Covid closures about to relax soon). The front desk and management teams are friendly and unintimidating, which is important when you're starting a new workout. You become part of the family fast. The studio is kept very clean and the equipment in great condition. I can only believe that people who write poor reviews of the studio are going to have negative comments about any business they patronize.

UPDATE: My response to the owner regarding my FB review:

Nick, I am unhappy for multiple reasons. My experience with your gym has been a learning experience. I should have read the fine print closer when I signed. I was of the belief I signed for 3 months only, as this was what I understood to be signing for at the time I so naively committed to your establishment.

However, the contract was for longer. Your contract/subscription seems to mimic a Planet Fitness for Pilates. I don’t agree with this type of subscription business model which requires a signature to cancel and a notice as lengthy as 30 days. I will not sign with one in the future.

My frustration is with the transparency of your cancelation process which I felt to not be clear which added to my confusion and added charges which I did not wish to incur and felt unfair. In the future, I encourage you to put the cancelation policy upfront and center at your establishment/on your website and have the forms readily available to make the cancelation policy easier for your members. I would also recommend you do away with the 30 day notice cancelation requirement, as a member should be able to cancel at any time. You charge ahead for the next month not behind for a prior month so this really shouldn’t cause any problems with your business or billing besides giving the customer the freedom to not be charged for another month they do not want nor intend to use. Third, I recommend that if a customer has not used your service in an extended amount of time and they cancel (due to moving, etc) that you refund some of the charge and allow an automatic cancelation once requested (no 30 day notice).

I really wish my experience had been better with your facility but I am happy to have gained this experience so that I do not make these costly (almost $700 but I negotiated down to $398, yikes) mistakes again.

ORIGINAL
I moved away from this location MONTHS ago and have called this location to have them STOP CHARGING my card. I am ending up having to go through my card collections agency to report them and get the charges canceled and refunded. “Supposedly” the manager was supposed to “call me back” when I attempted cancelation in the past. Don’t waste your money because they’ll just end up stealing it from you in the end.

I can’t give this location low enough stars honestly. You can learn a lot about the quality of a business by how they handle themselves when costumers want to discontinue service. This business is BAD BUSINESS.

Class choices are limited and difficult to get in. Joined with a friend and was told we could discontinue after 90 day trial with 30 day notice. I have been attending classes at Club Pilates Washtenaw since August 2017, and I am thrilled with my experiences there. The classes are great, and there is a ton of variety.

The instructors are incredible and take the time to get to know you and what your body is capable of - all the while encouraging you to push yourself to your level of comfort.

What I especially like is the clientele - there are people of all ages and sizes and there is no judgement.

Lastly, the studio is clean, the support staff is SO friendly and helpful, and there are thoughtful touches throughout (like feminine supplies in the restrooms).

I've been coming for about a month and I am addicted! For those who like to feel sore / see results but don't enjoy tons of sweaty cardio, reformer Pilates is awesome - you get a hard workout LAYING DOWN! I have NEVER been big on working out, but I've been making it to class at Club Pilates almost every day, even on weekend mornings - that's how much I love this studio and their instructors. Each instructor has a different style which is refreshing, but its not hard to pick your favorite and still find plenty of classes to go to with that instructor. The schedule is generally accommodating with before and after work options. As another reviewer mentioned, weekend classes fill up FAST so I recommend scheduling well ahead of time. And, definitely take the Intro class if you are new to reformer Pilates or need a refresher - they show you how to use all of the equipment so you are ready to go for your first class.

Dear Club Pilates. . . PLEASE stop taking money out of my account. I called to cancel in December.

Nice people to your face when you are there, but if you don't their paperwork quite right, that is not easily available, you have to make sure you get in contact with the right person at the right time (don't just leave a message w another staff and think they will call back), apparently they do not cancel your account and you end up in a long struggle where the corporation wins. MISERABLE EXPERIENCE and STILL HAPPENING!

The place is nice, and smells sterile, which I appreciate. The instructor knew what she was doing. All was well. Until the sales pitch began. Yikes!

After the class, a guy came and gave his schpeel, fine by me, it was a free class. Then they texted a day or so later to see if I wanted to sign up, since I got to “feel it”.... I expected that contact too. I let them know I didn’t really “feel” much (and I’m super out of shape). So I said I’d be willing to sign up for a drop-in...$25 bucks, but worth it to see if I like it before spending more...they offered me a free additional class... fine by me.... I signed up for Saturday... then THREE more (daily) calls came telling me their “deal” is ending Thursday.... the days leading up to this Thursday, today... three days before trying a class that may work better.

I sold cars for a decade and never exerted the pressure on anyone these people are floating by, and I was plenty successful at my job.

It’s a turnoff.

Add to that, the price point isn’t great. When the guy was pitching to us the night of the intro class, he told us they weren’t as cheap, and some of their instructors worked at other places locally, but they had better equipment at Club.

That information really just drove me to be better at shopping around, which I did.

This place would totally be five stars if they gave people some place, and had a regular intro rate for new people without constant pressure to grab up some ending deal, but until that day comes, it’s three stars.

Part of getting people to take advantage of a deal is having a really good deal to offer. Signing up for three months before I know if it’s something I even want to do seems silly.
