I cannot say enough good things about Counterpoint! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease. Elizabeth is not only highly knowledgeable and skilled but also incredibly attentive, ensuring each class is tailored to your needs and fitness level.

Elizabeth is the real deal! My sister took private classes with her throughout her pregnancy with incredible result 10 years ago. So when I found out I need a serious spinal fusion (T4-Pelvis) this summer for my scoliosis (I’m 46 for context), I knew I needed to get as long and strong as possible to prepare for it.
In the last 3.4 months, meeting with Elizabeth twice a week & specialized PT once a week is not only slowly getting me stronger, but it has helped to reduce the degree of both my spinal curves, significantly. This will help make this brutal surgery a little easier on my surgeon AND on me. She hasn’t seen the before Pilates xray and the current one (she’s going to be shocked)…taking it the next class we have.
I plan to continue Pilates after my surgery once I'm cleared to exercise. There’s no better investment than working on a sting body. Elizabeth is also really compassionate and understanding: I have Crohn’s and some other health challenges that sometimes create scheduling issues. She works through them with me.
Aside from her vast knowledge of Anatomy (I’m a nurse and she could teach a graduate level course!), her personality is the icing on the cake.
She also has group classes. I just prefer a more one on one environment. If you’re on the fence about trying Pilates…do it at Counterpoint.

Highly recommend Counterpoint! Owner Elizabeth is a wonderful person and knowledgeable instructor who takes time and care to teach the fundamentals to beginners and challenge more advanced participants. The studio is outfitted with all the traditional Pilates equipment and more.

Counterpoint was my go-to for regular exercise during pregnancy, and Elizabeth is a great instructor - experienced and knowledgeable about anatomy and physiology, and how to customize workouts for safe and effective routines. Definitely recommend!

I've been doing Pilates for years, and Counterpoint Pilates in Kalamazoo has been my go-to studio since June 2021. Liz, the owner and my instructor, is phenomenal. She's incredibly knowledgeable about form and technique, and she’s a genius at modifying exercises to accommodate injuries or special needs.
I especially love working on the reformer and the Cadillac, but Liz has made the chair, barrel, and mat work just as enjoyable. I go at least twice a week when I'm in town, and the benefits are beyond just physical fitness – it’s been amazing for my mental health, too. Liz is not just an exceptional instructor but also a great listener who creates a welcoming and supportive environment.
The other regulars in my classes feel like family. We cheer each other on, ask about one another's lives, and support each other through ups and downs. We're a diverse group with a shared passion for Pilates, and Liz is at the heart of it all.
If you're looking for a studio where you'll be challenged, supported, and leave every session feeling stronger both physically and mentally, Counterpoint Pilates is the place to be. Highly recommend!

Elizabeth has become an integral part of our family starting by helping my mother regain and retain strength in her eighties through instructing my granddaughter, since age nine, who is now a professional dancer.
Two years ago I personally came into her beautiful studio bent over, using a cane, and in a great deal of pain. Today: no cane, no pain, and standing tall. Thank-you, Elizabeth!

Liz is an exceptionally talented and brilliant practitioner, one of the best kept secrets in body health, in Kalamazoo. I had never tried Pilates before meeting her, and she pulled me in with fabulous personality, humor, and extensive knowledge of the body.
When I met Liz, I was going to physically therapy, as well, but found her approach & techniques more affective than my physically therapy work.
I’m a sucker for positive reinforcement, & Liz has such a talent for disarming you with her kindness, sense of humor, and lots of positive, and helpful feedback.
I also appreciate how Liz’s thirst for knowledge, and how she frequently keeps up with the latest in education in her field.

I was visiting from out of town and just started Pilates, so I signed up for a class at Counterpoint. While I enjoy my home studio, the one class I took here was the most helpful in understanding Pilates fundamentals. The instructor was very thorough and great at explaining/demonstrating proper form. I’ve continued to use the principles I learned from the one class I took at counterpoint at my home studio and my Pilates practice has improved greatly. Will definitely return when I’m in the area again.
