I went to a tournament today at court one and the tournament organizer were cool, calm and collected. Everything felt really well organized from ball storage, court assignments and communication. I’m impressed!

Court One is an all around fantastic spot for staying active. It’s the best in the greater Lansing area for tennis and pickleball! The courts are well-maintained and the atmosphere feels supportive. Monday night spinning and yoga are also my favorite!!! Plus membership prices are reasonable.

This is a fantastic gym. The people leaving 1-star reviews are those who feel that they are above the rules and policies of the gym. I’ve been a member for years and have never had a negative experience. Leave the entitlement and negativity at home where it belongs. I will be a member and patron as long as I reside in the area.

I began personal training with Kaitlin to learn how to lift weights with proper form. I was also hoping I would be able to become more fit to improve how fast and far I could run. I am glad I decided to begin personal training sessions as Kaitlin is a wonderful personal trainer! Kaitlin created a nice plan that would work for me as she taught me the basics first and then worked in more advanced exercises as each week went by. As a beginner, I felt no judgement from Kaitlin or anyone else at Court One.
One aspect I really appreciated was that Kaitlin consistently asked and discussed the pace at which we worked. There are a lot of muscle groups you can work and multiple exercises for each. Kaitlin often discussed with me whether I would like my next session to be about learning new exercises or working on exercises previously discussed to ensure proper form. It was nice to work at a speed I was comfortable with without feeling any kind of pressure.
Kaitlin put in a lot of effort to ensure I felt like a valued client. Kaitlin was always prepared to teach me new exercises to work out a new muscle group or to help add variety to my workouts. I also appreciated that Kaitlin knew not every exercise is for everyone. Therefore, we did not continue with an exercise if there was an exercise I did not like for whatever reason.
One of the nicest actions Kaitlin did for me was create a monthly workout plan. Kaitlin provided input and let me decide if I wanted to spend my workouts working on a particular muscle group (e.g. arm day or leg day), conducting a full body workout working all muscle groups, or developing a hybrid schedule. Based on my decision, Kaitlin developed a monthly plan for me detailing what exercises and how many sets and reps to perform each time I planned on being at the gym. This helped me stay on a schedule where I was not working out too much or too little. Kaitlin made clear to me that this monthly plan was flexible and she would work with me anytime to develop a plan that worked well for me.
Kaitlin is very knowledgeable about everything related to working out. Kaitlin was able to provide me with information about my diet including how much protein I should be eating and what foods I can eat to obtain more protein. For example, Kaitlin provided recommendations on what brands of protein bars I could purchase so I could find the brand I liked. Kaitlin also provided me with numerous tips about stretching. Working out can lead to some aches and pains of a particular muscle group and Kaitlin provided me with several stretching exercises for each muscle group that may help alleviate these aches and pains.
Court One has a machine that will capture your weight and determine how much of your weight is attributable to muscle mass for various parts of your body (e.g. right arm, left arm, right leg, left leg, chest). This was a useful tool Kaitlin had access to that would allow you to track your progress to determine if you are gaining muscle and inform you if you are gaining muscle proportionally on each side of your body. Based on these results, you can adjust your workout plan accordingly.
One of my favorite parts of working with Kaitlin was her encouragement. It was so nice to have someone make positive comments about noticing how much hard work you are putting into exercising and the improvements they notice over time.
I am very happy Kaitlin is my personal trainer as Kaitlin provided me with all the tools I needed to begin working out and reaching my personal goals. If you are committed to putting in the work, Kaitlin will help you achieve your goals. Performing too much cardio can make building muscle difficult. However, I was able to achieve my personal goals of both. Over the course of half a year, I was able to gain a couple pounds of muscle, beat my personal best 5k time by over 2 minutes, and comfortably run an additional 2 miles. I would highly recommend Kaitlin as a personal trainer to anyone!

We’ve been members since 2020. Over that time we’ve used their facilities and been the subject of unfair treatment on multiple occasions. Most recently we were informed about a rule that children under 14 had to be with an adult in weight room. This was not posted anywhere at the time and since we’ve gone here our children’s friends and teammates have always used the weight room freely. So we were unaware the rule existed. When the employee informed our older son, we immediately came to supervise our 13 year old, who normally works out with his dad, but had also worked out solo on occasions prior to this. While supervising him, I noticed his schoolmate, also 13, using the weights without a parent present. I confronted the worker and had my son record it for evidence. I told her to that she wasn’t enforcing the rule the same and it was not surprising that the child who was allowed to workout freely was white and my child was black. I let the lady know that I did feel like her rule enforcement was racially motivated, since I had another unpleasant experience with her the year before with my daughter during tennis lessons.
Immediately after I left, my child’s schoolmate sent him a text that the woman had called her manager to share the situation.
The next day I received and email from Corey Randall saying he’d look into the situation. The email was long and the majority of it dealt with the fact that I was creating a hostile and unsafe workplace for his employee by having my son record our conversation, where I caught her lying. He claimed he’d look into it though.
The next day he emailed another long email stating how responsible my son was and that he’d consider changing the rule maybe in the future. He also admitted that during video footage the rule was not being enforced the same, he never apologized though.
I responded back, answering his questions and ultimately told him that our family wanted to simply be treated like everyone else.
His latest email he told me that he had continued to watch my 13 year old son and commented on his squat technique. I found it repulsive that the ceo used an opportunity where his employees were clearly not enforcing rules fairly to invade upon my sons privacy and spend hours watching him. My son did nothing wrong, when he was asked to not use weights he immediately stopped and Mr. Randall even commented on his responsible behavior, yet continued to watch footage of him in order to comment on his technique.
He also invited us to get our money and leave the club, since we weren’t happy about being made to follow a rule that others clearly weren’t also following. Instead of apologizing and offering a month on them, he told us they are not a childcare center and recommend we have our son see their trainer.
I did not ask for any of this. When the rule nobody else seems to follow was brought to my attention I followed it. But the condescending emails and invasion of privacy on my son that took place afterwards is disgusting.
He did say they’d hang signs up with rules in the area ( which should have been done), but other than that nothing else was done. He apologized only after I pointed out he hadn’t and then followed it up with further accusations.
Our sons need somewhere to play basketball when not practicing with a team, but after they are of age we will gladly be taking our business elsewhere.
There’s a lot more that I can’t include because it’s already long, but simply put this business doesn’t value their black customers. We have spoken to other black gym members who have felt the same way when dealing with certain workers & my dealings with the ceo just show that this sentiment is coming from and supported by the top up. They don’t even want us at their club, so they do what they can do to make it hard and then invite us to leave. I have emails supporting all of this.
So if you aren’t in need of basketball courts, go elsewhere!! If you need basketball courts and can pay the MAC price, go there! Our son goes with a friend and they’ve never had a problem.

Been going here for years and the rules have changed a lot over the years to revolve around other guests and play favorites,I've seen grown men get in fights and lead to someone bleeding from his head before as well as grown men trying to get into fights with children and calling the kids very vulgar words even though it's the grown men causing the problems most of the time from what I've seen and the staff are rude a lot of the times

I have never left a review before, and I feel an obligation to review my experience at Court One. We called ahead before driving across town to come play pickleball. Over the phone no details were shared that all participants over 18 needed to present ID. When we arrived, most of our party did not have IDs since we drove together. The man behind the desk was highly unprofessional and rude in stating without an ID, there’s no entry. Fair enough rule for liability, however this should be communicated clearly on the website and over the phone. We were very surprised to find out the man behind the desk was the manager given his poor customer service and arrogant attitude. The rude responses back to others’ reviews reinforce and reflect the poor customer service we experienced. Court One lost our business.

If I could give this place zero stars I would, but that’s not an option. Manager was rude, unprofessional, and down right degrading. When we called they didn’t say anything about bringing ids for non members, but when we got there they said we had to have them. We were willing to sign waivers, but he says that ids are required and that they just figured everyone would have their ids on them. Was very condescending about the whole thing. Unprofessional and very unhelpful. Good way to make sure people never come back.

Heads up!!! Requires an ID from all people before playing pickleball on their courts. We called ahead of time before we made a 30 minute drive to play and the person that answered the phone did not let us know this was a requirement to enter. All 6 of our players were willing to sign waivers to help ease their liability concerns but that wasn’t good enough.
The manager was rude and downright unfriendly about the whole situation. Will not be back.

The treatment by management and staff at this location is becoming unbearable. I can't take my mask off even on the sidelines, but if I cross over to the pickle ball side I can watch without my mask 🤦🏼♂️ we have 47 people in our private FB group🧐 that we use for communicating about when we want to play together. We were playing 3-5 days a week prior to the pandemic. We Just Want To Play Ball and this is how it's going to be. Maybe it's time for a change?

Unless you want to get COVID I would not even come close to this place! They have anywhere between 5-20 people playing pickleball not wearing any type of mask and no concerns for the general publics health.
In addition- the reply & information provided below is false- I have evidence of 15/20 people using the same ball playing pickleball with ZERO mask- meanwhile myself & 3 others playing basketball have our mask on... local law enforcement will be notified by the others to ensure safety protocols are met by these business’

My family and i love this facility. My daughter is ten and because of her meds she is overweight. Its hard to find a place where i can workout beside her. She could use all the cardio equipment with me right by her side cheering her on. It made her feel so much better about herself. The staff is very informative and friendly. The child care option is great for the little ones and with the huge glass wall, my son is always able to see mommy is not far away. I would recommend this facility to anyone as it fits the needs for everyone! Thank you again corey!

I have been a member for years. Over the years structural improvements as well as equipment upgrades have been made. My reasons for belonging are:
1. Quietness. I do not go to the frequent classes that are very popular. I enjoy working out myself and it is quiet! No excessive talking. Those working out are serious and focus on the task at hand and do not stand around talking.
2. Equipment has been upgraded and easy to use. If you need help on using the various machines....the training staff is happy to instruct the correct usage.
3. The staff is friendly and very helpful.
4. Trainers are well trained, enthusiast, helpful, and explain WHY they are asking you to master various exercises.
Are there issues...yes. But over the years suggestions by members have been valued .
On my own wish list is a blood pressure machine for participants use.
I do not play tennis but the program looks to be extremely successful.
I congratulate them for a relationship they have with a special needs program where, along with a job coach, these special young adults work around the gym cleaning .
The membership fees are fair as are the rates for long term lockers.
So, if you are looking for a friendly, effective , and reasonable price health club....this is it.

The facility in East Lansing is of decent quality (much better than Okemos other than the hot tub/indoor pool because it doesn't have these). However the staff do not treat everyone fairly. My family was constantly harassed on our unique arrangement. This gym is very biased in their definition of a family household. We showed them our lease and that should have been it. My family and I did not feel welcome when working out here . The staff typically chats among themselves at the entrance. Seldom even a friendly hello or goodbye. Coffee was subpar. For what you pay, you get bare minimum - a gym and the occasional exercise class.

Our family has been a Court One member for 25 years! I play tennis with two travel teams. They are the greatest group of welcoming women you could find. I highly recommend joining if you are a tennis player. The club is not too big, and not too small but just right. You can take advantage of the many exercise classes - pilates, yoga, spinning without feeling you are being judged. I love the outdoor swimming pool in the summer. When I developed Plantar Fasciitis, Kirk, the physical trainer, cured me with special massages. Hey, this is the best kept secret in town!

I was once a member here. They continuously tried to over charge me and I had issues with my membership the entire time as one of my family members passes would never work. I have not been back since. Also, my kid got hurt once when they were watching her and they had no idea what happened. Despite this, I was thinking of trying it one more time (mostly due to convenience of the location). They tried to charge me more than 50% more per month than what they used to charge me and I would have to repay the application fee, again. No thanks...

Have been here for over 2 years now and love the gym. The staff is friendly and everything is kept exceptionally clean. The membership is fair and contains access to both gyms and almost all of the amenities (minus some tennis/pickelball stuff). It's cheaper then the mac but more a little more then powerhouse. However, its quiet for the most part and you never have to wait long for any workout equipment.

I was a member for several years about 20 years ago. I moved up north for all that time so had to drop...I recently moved back to the area and joined up again. I did check out other health clubs, but Court 1 North is 8 minutes away, it's a beautiful facility, the membership includes fitness classes, and there is a pool. The studio where the classes are held can be used when there is nothing scheduled in there - we use it all the time to work on gymnastics. The basketball court is very nice. We play occasionally. There is something for everyone, child care at peak times (and it's a very cool room!), of course racket sports and classes, summer camps for kids (east). We plan on heading to the east side facility to use the beatiful indoor pool. The hours of operation are convenient for about anyone's schedule. It's clean, the staff is friendly and helpful...I just can't say enough about how pleased I am with Court 1 AND the membersip is very reasonable. We just love it!!
