The front desk staff at this location are great however the GM was very off putting. I was told by the GM that the guest policy is somehow different at this Crunch Gym in Farmington. When I signed up for my membership, I was never told that any guest I bring must show a physical ID every single visit—even if I’m the account holder and I’m standing right there with them. This would have been important information to share upfront during the membership purchase.

What makes this even more inconvenient is that things happen—people lose their IDs or have them stolen, and sometimes they’re just waiting for a replacement to arrive. In situations like that, it would be reasonable to verify the guest in another way or at least offer a temporary solution. Instead, guests are turned away at the door, which defeats the purpose of having a membership that includes guest privileges.

This is the ONLY crunch out of the 3 previous ones I have visited this year (even in different states) that has required this form of identification. If this is a policy, in which, I have read through and not seen any mention of it in member policy documents which leads me to believe their may have a been a bigger issue involving discrimination. Regardless, this lack of communication is unreasonable and unacceptable as a paying member/customer of any company would rightly feel.

Extremely Frustrating Experience with Crunch Fitness

I am beyond frustrated with the way Crunch Fitness has handled my membership cancellation and the subsequent charges. Here’s the breakdown:
* On November 7th, I called to confirm that my membership had been cancelled. I was reassured that it had been.
* Yet, on November 11th, I was charged the yearly membership fee.

Naturally, I called on November 14th to address the issue. The representative admitted that this was completely Crunch's fault, but their solution was to file an appeal with Crunch Financial. The problem? There was no email confirmation that they received the appeal, and I never received any follow-up about their decision.

I was simply told that I would either get my money back or I wouldn't. That’s it. No transparency, no updates, and no clear path to resolution.

I am incredibly disappointed with the lack of customer service and communication from Crunch Fitness. This has been a stressful and time-consuming experience that could have been easily avoided with proper handling. I would highly advise potential members to be wary of these practices.

I’m not gone lie. I got no problems with this crew. Coming to this Crunch from day one I was met with warm smiles and people who were willing to listen to understand. Coming from out of town I had a crunch subscription that only allowed me to use one gym and the way it was set up made it difficult to switch over to this one. The General Manager showed patience, understanding, and walked me step by step through the process of how to get things worked out. In a time period where you get attitude for asking questions, this staff from GM to Manager to the rest of the Employees has always been refreshing in deviating from that poor demeanor. If you’re looking for a Crunch that’s well kept up with professional staff and personality to go to, I highly recommend the Crunch at Farmington Hills.

Clean, well-run gym with a crew that actually cares.
Alex, the manager, runs the place like a pro. He is always on top of keeping the equipment in good shape and making sure everything’s organized. He’s approachable and genuinely helpful if you need anything. Big shout-out to Jennie at the front desk too. She is friendly and welcoming, which makes walking in a lot easier so early in the morning. Crunch Farmington Hills is exactly what you want in a gym; clean, well-equipped, and staffed by people who care.

It pulled my back so good I swear I heard my ancestors clapping. 👏🏽 My booty? Got stretched like it signed up for overtime. 🍑 My legs? They was out here doing splits I ain’t practiced since middle school PE. 🧘🏽‍♀️

Great high energy gym. People are nice. Coaches are supportive. Couple things to note...the floor in the group fitness area always (...and I mean always) looks like it is never cleaned. At a 9AM fitness class, I should not be seeing dirt, hair and particles on the floors. I swear the same pieces of hair has been resting in the corners of this floor for the past several weeks...and I'm not making this up. The mats always look filthy. As much as I enjoy the classes, I always have to take a deep breathe when some of the exercises require getting close to the floor or on the mat; let alone having my face close to the floor. Yuk! I always take the liberty of wiping everything I've touched when I'm done but that's if/when wipes are available. When I've asked to speak with a manager, one is never around or always busy. I have never witnessed a manager walking around the gym - at least not while I'm there.

This needs to be said. I’ve been a member at Crunch for nearly 5 years, and the decline under the new management has been embarrassing. The equipment is constantly broken or falling apart, dumbbell racks are busted, and nothing ever seems to get fixed. Cleanliness is at an all-time low bathrooms are disgusting, some showers don’t even work, and lockers are filthy with things like Zyns stuck to the walls. It feels like nobody is maintaining or taking pride in this gym anymore.

Management is the problem. Either they don’t care or they’re completely incompetent. Something needs to change… new leadership, real accountability, and actual upkeep. If things don’t improve within the next month or two, I’m gone, and from talking with other members, I know a lot of people feel the same way. This used to be a solid gym, but right now it’s a joke. Do better.

They pretend to be friendly, but pressure people into contracts and continue to charge them after they quit. They also pretend like they don’t have the ability to work with people and come up with amicable solutions to minor problems, thus defrauding customers out of every dollar they can. I would be very cautious before trusting this particular gym. Additionally, its a very crowded gym with a definite gym bro vibe. The classes and many fees are exorbitant and the perks of a pro membership seemed to be exaggerated with broken equipment and false promises. Overall disappointed.

I will award one point back to the new manager who reached out and worked with me to remove fees for nonsense the last guy put us through. This location was obviously problematic.

Hello crunch Farmington , I have called couple of times to Farmington hills no one picking my calls and when I raised the complaint in online it says you have to go in person I’m in Texas I can’t go in person, what’s the reason why can’t you cancel my subscription with out telling me you charged 59.99 which is unfair , at the time of joined they didn’t tell me any annual membership but I see now they are charging like hell worst service no one is there to take calls, when I raised complaint online no one is getting back to me , one of the worst service I have ever seen today they again charged me 30$ membership after several emails I have sent regarding cancellation

This gym is terrible and they will repeatedly charge you multple times for the same thing and then when you bring it up to them, they will tell you "there's nothing they can do because it's the company policy." I was overcharged multiple times- I paid in club for my monthly dues even after I specifically told the girl in the front that I already made the payment in-app, I had to change my payment info, and the email showed that it was processing in a couple days. I showed her the email and everything. She still gonna say they couldn't let me in the gym because my payment wasn't showing up on her side even though I literally showed her the email from the gym confirming the payment?? I asked her am I going to be double charged. She says of course not, once they see you paid in-club, your other payment would be canceled. Two days later, they took the payment anyway so I double-paid. When I called, everyone gave me the run around and kept telling me there was nothing they could do because of "company policy," and they don't know why she said or did that. Then, I called my bank to dispute the double charge and after my bank disputed the charge, they charged me AGAIN with a $20 LATE FEE making it my third payment in a single month. If you go to the gym here, be prepared for them to reach into your account whenever they want and add on fees, double charge you, not give you your money back. If you don't want to deal with that, I'd recommend going somewhere else or finding other alternatives than this because it is absolutely ridiculous.

On my first day, I noticed several hidden charges, and the staff continuously pushes to sign up for a personal trainer and premium membership. Guests must present their ID every time they enter, when you come with peak plus members which they never mentioned . The gym is always crowded, and many cardio and workout machines are broken and have not been repaired.

Recently management changed and the gym has become so bad. There’s never toilet paper in the bathrooms, the toilets are always dirty, they don’t have the AC on a sufficient level even in the middle of July. It’s going to fall out of favor very soon, been coming here for the last 4 years and theres a very clear and obvious shift with change in management. Theres absolutely no upkeep anymore.

I’ve been a member at Crunch for over 3 years, and this has been a disappointing experience. I recently moved to Indiana, where there are no Crunch locations nearby. I asked to cancel my membership politely, but they were unhelpful and continued charging me both annual and monthly fees. I even offered to show proof of my relocation through hotel reservations, but they refused to acknowledge it.

What’s worse — they never informed me when my membership term ended and just kept billing me under a “month-to-month” excuse. This feels like a scam, and it’s extremely frustrating for loyal members like me.

Do yourself a favor and read every detail before signing anything. Crunch might look appealing at first, but in the end, it’s a waste of time and money. Very disappointed.

I’ve had the most excellent results from working with a personal Erin Lenard. After trying everything on the market and seeing many different professionals from acupuncturist to yoga and Chiropractic, Erin successfully got me out of chronic pain when an old injury flared up. I do not take drugs to solve my pain problems, and have invested with every tool in the market costing +$$ 2,000. Erin addressed my areas of weakness in the first week of our evaluations and designed a program to build strength in the muscles surrounding “the injury”. Her professionalism and approach has done wonders for my injury and my stamina. I am so grateful we did this without months of work but within weeks!! Thanks so much for showing up for me it’s been amazing to go from chronic pain to easy movement in the same day! I feel so grateful to you and Crunch Fitness!!

Be Cautious of Hidden and Unexpected Charges

I had a very disappointing experience with Crunch Fitness in Farmington Hills. When I first signed up, I paid a $30 processing fee, which I was fine with. However, things went downhill quickly.

Just 20 days after enrolling, I had to move out of state and went in to cancel my membership. That’s when the unexpected and frankly unreasonable charges started. I was told I needed to pay an additional $59.99 annual fee, even though I had only been a member for less than a month. This made absolutely no sense.

I contacted customer service, but the representative I spoke with was rude and unhelpful. Despite the poor interaction, I decided to go ahead and pay the annual fee just to cancel and move on. But when I went in to cancel in person, they tried to charge me another $77, claiming it was for the upcoming month—even though I was canceling before the next billing cycle had even started!

I calmly explained that I was already being charged $60 for a year I wasn’t going to use, and that charging me for an extra month on top of that was completely unreasonable. Only after I pushed back firmly did they remove that additional charge.

In total, I ended up paying $44 + $60 = $104 for barely one month of membership. I feel like this was a complete waste of money and honestly felt like I was being scammed.

I would strongly caution anyone considering this location to read the fine print and be prepared for unexpected fees if your plans change. This experience has left a very negative impression, and I will not be recommending Crunch to anyone.

I only came here once pretty recently, and that was on a day pass. The representative I spoke with on the phone was nice, and I went the following morning to do my workout; however, the girl working the morning I went was not very friendly. Her customer service, while not the worst, wasn't great either. Whomever I spoke with over the phone sounded very welcoming and hospitable, but I got a totally different customer service interaction when I went in person.

Putting that aside, I guess I went at a time that wasn't very busy. So it was nice in that sense. I got my full workout done, so I have no complaints about that. The gym itself was relatively clean, and I wasn't frantically searching for one piece of equipment, as everything seemed to be where it needed to be.

The gym itself (from my personal experience): 5 stars.
Customer service: 3 stars. I had to dock two because of the in-person service I received.

Canceling membership is a big headache in crunch, no proper procedure, it is different from person to person. They say they go by rules, but while enrolling they will convince you that it can be canceled anytime, which is not true. Farmington hills center is not maintained well and most of the group (including HIIT) classes available in other centers are NOT available here. Machines are poorly maintained and there is a big crowd in the Squat stations and it is very difficult to get machines. Farmington hills center is poorly maintained.

Unexpected charges even after closing my account. I signed up for a one-year membership from March 2024 to March 2025. In August 2024, I decided to cancel and paid the full remaining balance through March 2025. I received confirmation that my account would remain active until the end of March 2025 and then be closed.

However, in March 2025, I noticed an unexpected charge of $80. When I contacted customer support, they admitted it was a mistake due to improper account closure and issued a refund. A couple of weeks later, I was charged $17.99 again. When I reached out, I got the same response, that the previous agent hadn’t handled the closure correctly and was promised a refund. Now, even after two weeks, I still haven’t received my money back. When I called back to check about the refund representative simply says, "I have no idea." I don’t understand why Crunch is still charging me even after confirming my account was deactivated.

I have been a member of this location for two years. In-all-ways a great experience.
The success of this location is due to the actions of General manager Paul. Paul is visible and approachable. Friendly, we have shared a few laughs.

I terminated my membership at Crunch Fitness on April 10, however, they still charged me for May and June.

When I terminated my membership in April, they told me I wouldn't be charged in May.
When I inquired about the May charge, they told me they would refund the charge and that I wouldn't be charged in June.
They never refunded the May charge.
When I talked to them in June, they insisted that they did refund the May charge, but that the June charge was valid since I cancelled my membership on May 10. (which is not true, I cancelled on April 10)
They also told me I needed to show them a "signed cancellation letter" in order to prove that I had cancelled in April. I never received any such letter.

UPDATE:
A year and a half later, Crunch Fitness sent me this email:

“As of today, your agreement shows a balance of $9.99 with it being 565 days overdue and is now in collections or in the process of being sent to collections.

BUT...

Here's the offer:

Rejoin the Crunch Community with the following requirements and have your entire balance removed at no charge:
Resign with any of our memberships on an installment (minimum 12 month commitment)
Book AND show to a CrunchOne Kickoff
OR
Pay at least half balance of $4.995 and have the account marked as settled”

They have some nerve. I wish I could give them 0 stars.

Crunch farmington has been the place to go for me for years. Staff is always friendly and make you feel like part of the family. They always try to stay on top of cleaning and keeping up with everything even during peak hours. It’s the kind of gym that makes you want to drive out of your way just to be there. Worst club in the locality maintained by unprofessional and greedy staff. Andre, Paul & Devin are club staff but they call themselves as General/Assistant managers without any experience how to treat customers. They don’t clearly mention the anything about the charges that are levied on customers before joining but later when we ask them about the charges that are applied on us they keep saying that they have already mentioned about these charges during signing up.

No matter what we talk to them the whole staff keep on saying just one line “you have signed the agreement and everything was informed to you prior to signing the agreement”

I reached out to them prior to billing cycle to cancel my membership but they did procrastinate their work until the billing date arrived and made me pay the fee(monthly&annually)
Even if had to cancel the membership I had to pay these fee before leaving.

I’d never recommend this club.

Wouldn’t recommend to anyone. Better drive couple miles more, you’ll find a better gym than this one because none is worst than this. This gym has the worst staff. They wouldn’t follow their own terms and conditions. They are trained to mislead and enroll whoever comes in without telling how all the plans work. They are basically trained to cheat customers.

Shady and cold people. They will just talk in a loop and keep their cool until we loose, but still won’t solve our issue. Cleverly stole my $200 within 2 weeks. They are skilled at this. They should be ashamed to do this over and over. Staff should know that they are getting paid to mislead customers and that’s hard earned money of people.

They didn’t mention about any 45 days thing.

Assistant manager pretends as general manager and general manager is not at work all the time. When you meet general manager, he is a veteran at misleading customers. They wouldn’t cancel my membership in the end and kept my money.

Paul, the GM is friendly until you need his help. YOU CAN NOT CANCEL IN THE APP, OR ONLINE. This location does so poorly in sales, they need to see you face to face in order to cancel so they can play the “retention” game. That’s what an employee told me. I filled out the online cancellation form but they called and told me they can’t honor it over the phone because they want a signature. They say I have to come in or mail a letter. I told them I could do neither as we were on a cruise ship at the time for 30 days. I asked if there was a way to do it digitally. It was not. I come back after the trip and the bill has accumulated to over 150 dollars. I tell them I need to cancel (as well as gave the backstory) but now they say the bills is too high. They want the full 150 payment, then they’ll cancel. I told him that’s ludicrous. Paul then became extremely rude and said verbatim, “I dunno what you want me to say. Let it go to collections after 3 months, then.” I asked him why he didn’t say this on the phone, and he said because it’s in your agreement. There were a multitude of ways my situation could have been assisted. They could have also placed my account on hold while I was gone which Paul apologized for not mentioning at the time.
Don’t sign up here. They’re only money hungry. Thanks to Crunch, POWERHOUSE has a new client!!! It’s much better people over there! GO TO POWERHOUSE !!!

I’ve been at this gym for five years and it’s totally amazing. It’s so spacious and I love the equipment. All the co-workers are fantastic! Noelle is my favorite. She’s awesome. Her smile is just as bright as the morning sun! 10 thumbs up. I definitely recommend!

Terrible experience. I signed up a year ago hoping for a month to month agreement as I saw advertised. The employee who signed me up didn’t explain anything about a year contract to me, but apparently that’s what I was signed up for. I used my other gym membership more so I came in a couple months later to cancel. I was told I cannot cancel until the year had been up. (I also signed up for $10 a month which later increased to $13 a month). 1 year later (on the day they told me my membership would end) I am charged $80 for another annual fee. I talked to several employees about a refund as none of this was communicated to me and was denied. It also seems as though this second annual fee is completely unavoidable as you can’t cancel until a year later and are charged on the day you are actually able to cancel. Awful communication and awful customer service. Will never sign up for a crunch again.

Hey there! I just had an awful experience with the staff, as I went in during August of 2023 to cancel my membership. Unfortunately, it seems that there was no documentation of the cancellation of the membership even with the signature I provided in person. I was told that I needed to pay for the rest of the billing cycle, but reached out more recently to question why I I was getting billed, I was informed I had an active membership that was never cancelled. They also refused a refund, and as an out of state college student are requiring a letter or that I cancel in person. Paul over the phone was nice with discussing the cancellation policy, but the business itself is awful and predatory. 0/10 would not recommend

Side note update: forgot to add that I was later informed that in some cases when a member attempts to cancel a membership while paused, it doesn't always go through or save that there was an attempted cancellation, hence why there was likely no documentation. Even with this information no refund was offered.

if we ask for Anything they simply say we don’t do refunds…before registering for Crunch please go through all the one star comments & some day you will face that situation…

Super shady gym!! They took $390 from me. This place doesn't care about you or your well being, you're just a dollar sign. I sustained an injury and could not come to the gym. I had been working with a personal trainer for almost year. I stayed in touch with the trainer about my condition, I wasn't charged for three weeks and then boom, I started getting charged again. I had PAID for sessions before my injury, apparently after the three month contract it turns into monthly. Being you don't get billed monthly I thought I got charged every time I booked my sessions which was bi-weekly. I asked for a refund for my PAID unused sessions and all I got was "we don't give refunds for that". Really?! No service was rendered and I can't get a refund?? I read over the contract, nothing on there says they don't refund for UNUSED sessions. Funny thing is you can only cancel the training contract and gym membership in person...so if you died, they'd still charge you!! What a wonderful company. No one responds to any emails at the facility. I emailed the address given in others reviews and no answer.

They switched from paper towels to anti bacterial wipes. How do you wipe up sweat with something wet? Plus I get enough toxins in my life. I won't be touching these things. I coming to improve my health.
Use to be a good temp. But really hot since Christmas which means more sweat on the machines. Nice if it was 67F again. Everyone is working out.

Great gym for working out. Please do not hire personal trainers. They have a very complicated contract with a thing called “pause”. If you think you are ending your training, and you say good bye to your trainer, the can pause your account and you thing you are done, then after the pause, they will start charging every two weeks. The only way to stop the charges is to go to the gym you signed up with, request a cancel contract form, fill it out, get it signed, keep a copy for your records. And watch your bank account. They got me for $960 before I figured out that ABC is their training billing arm. We were out of the country and it took us a while to figure out who was charging us. Ugh

Sucks. Not for the serious trainer. I knew this going in , so thankfully i signed up for the $17.99 a month deal so i can cancel anytime without penalty (so they say, we will see). It doesn’t matter when you go , you will never get the equipment you need (example, One smith machine , and its angled which is stupid to begin with ) Three cable crossovers , but always taken. If you are lucky , one side might be open , sometimes on a couple stations, but these kids have no gym ettiquete and won’t move to another station when they only need one side , and they don’t know what letting someone work in means. But they do have hundreds of pieces of cardio , many never being used. So that’s a huge waste of money and space. To put it in perspective , it’s Planet Fitness with some weights, and caters to kids who think they are monsters (140 pound monsters) and old people who are cardio kings and queens. Skip this place.

It’s been this way since they opened. Hey James , Hey Adam. The place is packed , the money is pouring in , how about adding a few smith machines. Vertical smith machines. And maybe a few more movable benches ??? Every bench is bolted down except one , so if you need that one bench and the one smith , forget it.

Who maintains the equipment ? Hasn’t anyone noticed you put the wrong pulley system on one side of the center cable crossover station??? It makes the two pulleys way off center , rendering it useless. The cable drags and is dangerous , will cause premature wear and breakage. Most likely the cause of the broken cable in one of the reviews below.

And turn the fan down. i get that it is supposed to move the heat back down , but it’s too powerful, so it causes a nasty cold breeze. You need to bundle up on that half of the gym.

Pluses ? Olympic bars with thin grip. A decent number of squat racks and rubber plates.
