Okay so let me preface that not only have I been to innumerable cycling classes and studios in many different cities, I also used to teach indoor cycling classes. I've been on the hunt for a cycling class in the Detroit area that checks all the (high standard) boxes for me, and Amanda's class at Cycle Bar checks them all.
โ
An instructor who matches my energy: I go to cycling class to have a good time and feel alive. Amanda is super high energy, she yells and cheers you on, and most importantly she makes sure i don't feel like a weirdo when I'm yelling and singing and having a great time.
โ
Bomb ass music: I could not ask for a better Playlist! No, the music isn't edited. We are adults. Yes, it's loud. And Yes I love raunchy rap music with hype beats.
โ
Vibe: everyone who works here is super personable and helpful, and generally the vibe of the community is just... good!
โ
Price: i also pay for a gym membership where I lift and do other classes, so I'm not tryna pay for a whole other one. I like that there are lots of options based on how many classes you plan to take. 4/ month is perfect for me, and clocking in at $14 something a class is worth it! Plus if you don't have cycling shoes, they got them there for you. Included in the price.
I am so happy I found this studio and Amanda's class, it's really taking my fitness level where I want it to be, and I have such a fun time doing it. Keep it up, Cycle Bar!

Literally not sure how I have not left a review yet! If you are looking for a place to work out while also being welcomed into a community, look no further - this is your place! Every single instructor is amazing and each workout has so much energy. If you're new to cycling, don't be discouraged because I've seen all the staff and instructors spend time w/ new folks showing how the bike works and all that jazz. I absolutely love working out here!

Studio is little tight with a lot bikes crammed into a small space but it's a great workout with gray instructors and great playlists. I love the way they have leaderboards and races but don't keep them up so no one obsessed over itthe whole class

I've just had my first class and i've never worked out in my life. My first impression was that parking was difficult for me but after speaking to Jamie one of the instructors I found out the church parking lot behind the building is available but not on weekends. There is metered parking in the front and on the left side of the building, Parking on either street is free untill 11am. I did have to park a few blocks away and walk over but I did not mind. Shoes are free to use in this location! I was very surprised and happy with this because it does say rentals on the website. The class itself was enjoyable but like I said I've never worked out in my life so it was difficult but I'm sure it will be easier over time. Jaime was very kind and energetic and encouraging. I didn't get much of a tour because I was late (only because I drove around looking for appropriate parking) I think if you are looking to give this place a try you should and hopefully you will reach your goals.

Nice studio with nice staff! Only complaint would be that they sold me a ride package but did not disclose that I was agreeing to a monthly draft - I never signed anything at all. But the classes are fun and the instructors are welcoming and helpful

Have been trying to chase them via email, calls, texts about a promotion they were running for 3 weeks. Super unorganized location. Iโve had much better service at OH and IL locations. Unfortunately, I was a loyal CB member in the past, but I cannot get any customer support from Royal Oak studio. Losing business over very simple stuff!

Incredible team and location! I've never felt more welcome. Parking is a little interesting. Either I end up in the church lot behind their location or paid street parking in front or along the side street. There are several bikes that are squeaky during class and can be a little distracting. I've gone several times over the last year and I'm not certain when or how maintenance is done. Lisa is inspiring, with her words during class and her focus on her health, and I'm thrilled with her classes. Class sizes vary and aren't consistent, meaning you can judge class size based on attending one week. There are 36 bikes but I've never been to a completely full class. They offer lots of class times and options (pay for a block of rides or just buy a monthly number of rides as a subscription). The people who ride here are so helpful getting you set up for class! That's a compliment to the staff and other riders like you. The class space is tight, so I've had to get used to people being close by. I am learning the places in class that don't work for me to sit (I'm tall) so sitting below the HVAC or speakers means I can't do the arm workouts without modification. I'd love them to do theme rides, such as 90s hip hop, best of 2000, you get the idea. They run promos all the time so there is always a great time to start. Enjoy!

Cyclebar Royal Oak is unmatched. Out of all the spin and cycle studios Iโve been to i keep coming back here. The instructors are incredible and keep you SO motivated. The playlists are absolutely banging and the energy is beautiful. Itโs welcoming and fun and I could go on and on. Somehow every single class is a bit different which keeps it from getting repetitive too. Definitely check it out!!

The team at cycle bar are amazing!!! You couldn't ask for better instructors who not only motivate you to hit your personal goals regularly, but care for each and every member. Throughout the pandemic they worked tirelessly to follow all safety precautions, while making every class enjoyable (even when classes had to be outside in our cold Michigan winters). The royal oak community is lucky to have such an innovate and welcoming group of instructors.

It's such a family feel here. I'm super introverted and right away you feel positive energy that draws you out of your shell. Every workout is a great challenge. I've felt mt confidence grow as my fitness level increases. As an ex high level athlete, I thrive on the challenges given within each class and truly enjoy the queues given by instructors.

Tony & Ellie are hands down some of Detroitโs best cyclebar hosts. They make the experience fun while at the same time making sure we are safe. I will be making a full recommendation to my friends and family to ride the cyclebar specifically Tony & Ellie. Best night ever!

Have never been so motivated to work out in my life, nor have I ever had so much fun working out!! I feel like Iโm just going dancing and then bam I burned a bunch of calories! Jimmy is amazing and got me hooked. He always looks like heโs having a blast up there like a magical spinning DJ. They provide shoes/ear plugs if needed.

Amazing workout and staff. They provide shoes and clean towels for every rider. Music is fun & upbeat. Even if you used to hate cycling, give this place a chance! Not your typical boring cycle class. I always leave feeling encouraged and strong ๐ช๐ผ

Had my first class at the studio today and it was awesome I would definitely recommend this studio, they do have cycle shoes in various sizes you can borrow if not the bikes are compatible with regular tennis shoes or you can bring your own cycle shoes.

I think this is a fake cyclebar franchise. they don't provide shoes and they don't send you an email with your statistics automatically like virtually every other cycle part does. Also their website is not at all usable compared to other cyclebar franchise websites. Not sure what is really going on with this franchise.

TL;DR- You have to try more than one class before deciding if you love it or not.
Had a really great workout at my first CycleBar experience last night. I signed up for back-to-back classes and that actually helped out immensely.
The first class was a little hard to followโ I was late due to work and could only get a bike in the back, so it was a little difficult to understand the instructor; also I didnโt take the time to get my bike adjustments correct, so the first ride was uncomfortable. The instructor seemed enthusiastic and knowledgeable but I just wasnโt able to enjoy the ride due to the two problems listed.
The second classโ I was able to move right up to the the front row, take time adjusting and readjusting my bike until it was comfortable. I could hear the instructor better and had a better feel for the gears. This one was an excellent workout. I cycle a lot, but Lisa V. has a style that challenged my cardio endurance. The only thing I would want changed about the workout: I wish there were two songs with the weights rather than one.
Iโm looking forward to trying another class later this week!

Great energy and intense, varied workouts. I have two bikes, a stationary trainer, gym membership and still come here once or twice a week. Many class times to choose from and great instructors!

Very good spin workouts. But the space is small and the music very loud. Bring earplugs if your ears are sensitive like mine.
