David Matthew Studios is a wonderful place for dancers to learn and grow. My daughter has been dancing with the studio for two years and and looks forward to more. David and Christen are both professional but keep things fun, too. My daughter's confidence has bloomed and she looks forward to her classes. She is shy but has made many new friends in her classes and as a member of the studio's competition team. As a parent I appreciate the cleanliness of the studio, easy sign ups and the studio's clear communcation with their dance families.

My daughter has been dancing for 3 years now. We started at DMS 2 years ago and she absolutely loves it here. She fees comfortable in classes and loves her teacher Ms Christen. She has learned more in the last 2 years than her previous studio. The teachers are professional, slightly strict but in the same way a school teacher has to be in order to direct their classroom, and extremely knowledgeable in their craft! They care about their students well being and creating a relationship with them that lasts beyond dancing. For as long as my daughter wants to dance we will be at DMS!

My daughter has been dancing at this studio for 3 years and has loved every moment. The teachers are professional yet know how to allow the girls to enjoy and grow in their dance skills. Christen’s classes have always been a favorite of ours, however this year my daughter took a couple of classes with David. She appreciates his seriousness with technique and loves his sense of humor! Highly recommend DMS. The time he takes to make sure each of his students get correct direction is amazing. Also the fact that parents are able to fully view their children while in class is greatly appreciated. As a parent it is really helpful to see how my child is progressing throughout the year. David and all his staff are so welcoming and extremely helpful.
My daughter just finished another year here. She had David as her instructor for both of her classes and I was amazed with his guidance and patience. We love coming to class and are looking to join their summer classes.

Appreciate how the instructors are kind and accommodating. It is an inclusive environment in which students feel inspired to explore the art of dance. As a mom I enjoy that the studio is set up so that parents can watch the dancers thru the glass windows. My daughter has really enjoyed her many classes at David Matthew’s Studio. The instructors are kind , yet strict , teaching important skills . My daughter has made good friends and has had fun while receiving serious instruction . Her skills in dance have really improved over the last season . I love the glass walls for the studio classes . Parents can always watch any class they want to . The owner , David , is personable and gets to know his students and their parents .

My daughter is in her third year of dance at David Matthew Studios. I can tell you that David and Christen are great teachers and that your child will get a top-notch dance education if you choose to go here. However, what makes this place so special is how supported my daughter feels from her teachers, her peers, and senior students—you can’t put a price tag on that. David has really taken into account my daughter’s temperament and found ways to encourage her that work for her. My daughter has found a love of dance here along with amazing friendships—she can’t imagine dancing anywhere but at David Matthew Studios!

This is a wonderful dance studio and a gem in Grand Rapids! The instruction my daughter has received has allowed her to improve in so many ways and further her love of dance. I pulled my daughter from this studio after a year. While the dance education is good, the environment leaves much to be desired. Mr David is critical, condescending, demeaning and rude, making this a less than ideal environment. If you want a positive dance environment for your child, this is not it.

I came across DMS last summer when my son, 6 years old, enrolled into hip hop. He loved it SO much he asked to keep going! His coach, Erica, and her helper, Maren, make dance fun and enjoyable for all ages! My daughter, 9 years old, enrolled into ballet for the first time last fall after being intrigued from watching the talented ballet dancers while waiting for her brother to get out of class. Her coach, David, gives her the confidence in exceeding her own expectations by helping her perfect her turns, flexibility, footwork, timing, and much, MUCH more. I’d recommend this studio to anyone and give them more than 5 stars if I could! My kiddo’s are beyond excited to pursue the art of telling a story through movement all thanks to the DMS staff!

This is a serious dance school which focuses on discipline and technique and we love that its a smaller size for individualized attention. We have the best choreographers and teachers! My daughter has been taking dance lessons since the age of 5 but has only worked with David for almost 2 years. She never hesitated to follow him to his new Studio. The instruction is top notch and demanding but the atmosphere is very caring and caters to girls who want to make dance the focus of their extra-curricular activities. In addition to David, she loves working with Christen, a contemporary dynamo, and Coppelia, who makes ballet technique class joyful. She also enjoys the variety of guest instructors who spice up the repertoire. As a parent, I appreciate the lovely studio, thoughtful communication from the entire staff and supportive environment.
