What a fun experience! I did a drop in mixed aerial (hoop and silks) class Sunday 9/21/25 with Katie and she was wonderful! It was my first time ever and she was extremely patient! These classes are very physically demanding which I wasn’t expecting but everyone was so nice and took lots of time and care with me being inexperienced! I will be back this week and once I’m more comfy I’ll be taking a full 8 weeks! Highly recommend!

My three daughters have been taking Aerial classes with Sarah for a little over 2 years now. They have learned so much from the FlyHouse Aerial syllabus, and love learning new things. The staff leads the classes with kindness, empowerment and patience, and they make EVERYONE feels included and able to try new things. The staff also takes very good care of how their apparatuses are used, handled, creating a sense of respect for the sport. I have to brag on Sarah in particular for going above and beyond to not only go at each of my kids' own pace, but for getting to know them deeply enough in the first place to sense when they need a little encouragement to do that hard thing, or when to let them take their time getting the courage. Hosted a carnival for my memory care residents and collaborated with Detroit Circus due to needing a clown. Micha was wonderful to communicate with. She sent a female clown, Iris, who made balloon animals and did face painting. Iris was absolutely lovely to work with and was so kind to our residents. They had a blast watching her make balloon animals. Definitely will be reaching out to collaborate with again in the future!

A couple years ago my daughter expressed interest in learning the art of silks. I had no idea where to turn to, I reached out on social media, and a friend let me know she had been taking classes at the Detroit fly house. I immediately jumped online and enrolled my daughter in her very first class. She was nervous but excited. From the very first class, she was met with a positive uplifting instructor. Everybody there treated her very nice. She was younger, so I was afraid how she would do around a class full of adult adults. I received nothing but high remarks regarding the staff from My Daughter. And the staff seemed to care for her as well!

Unfortunately, she occurred an injury from a different sport, so we did have to take some time off, and she has been begging to go back to the fly house because that is how much she has loved it. I’m so excited to see her start back up this weekend! We love the fly house and all of the staff. From the owner to the instructors, they really are phenomenal. I look forward to seeing her growth with this company. I would recommend it all day. 10/10

10! 10 years ago i found that little jewel in Detroit. Since day one I loved the Detroit Flyhouse. I ran away with the circus and never regret it. No one judges you there, not about age, not about body type and not about your abilities. Wonderful teacher make you fly and go out proud of yourself, every time a lesson is over. And you decide how fare you grow, you even can become a performer if you want. And back to the 10 years I'm a student and preform since 8 years in showcases 2 times a year.
Oh if you saw one of theses shows I'm that old (58) oversized lady. 🥰🎪🎪🎪🎪🥰 And I plan on 10 more years.

I took a mixed aerial workshop with my friend this past summer, and we had an awesome time. The instructors were very hands on, and talked us through the movements. I came in with absolutely no aerial background and was able to walk away feeling like I learned something. I actually enjoyed myself enough at the workshop that I signed up for one of the 8 week mixed aerial courses. Started this past week -- the class was much larger than the workshop I dropped into, but there was enough staff facilitating that I still felt I was getting a good amount of instruction. Micha has also been very communicative and quickly helped me schedule a make-up class the same day I emailed her about missing one of the 8 week classes. I'm looking forward to developing my aerial skills here -- would definitely recommend!!

Fantastic people and a great way to grow both physically and mentally. Jay - choreo instructor has been amazing! I took his class despite having it after a 12h shift at work with an hour drive to get there… He’s that great! I’ve also taken a lot of classes both private and with a group and all the instructors have been outstanding. Of note, I started here before I had kids and now my 12 year old daughter is also taking 2 classes here weekly. Definitely a great place to unwind and meet beautiful and amazing people! I love going to Baileys Friday Flexibility class. She is so nice, and if a stretch doesn’t work for you, she always knows an alternative. She also will let you know if you’re doing a stretch incorrectly, so you don’t get hurt, and you get the most out of it. This class is one of the highlights of my week and I strongly recommend trying it.

I can't begin to explain how much I love the Flyhouse. I started taking aerial classes in January 2022 and never looked back. The instructors are amazing here, and really emphasize that circus is for every body - no matter your previous experience or level of strength. I've learned so much about movement and gained a ton of strength from my aerial classes. Plus the environment is so welcoming and encouraging; if you're unsure or nervous about a skill, the coaches will guide you thru it or help you adapt it.

I've convinced so many of my friends to try aerial classes and they've all fallen in love. The Flyhouse is such a special place.

I moved across the country in 2024 but anytime I'm back in Detroit, I try to schedule a drop in class at the Flyhouse. It feels like my aerial home.

I was looking for a new location to do aerial after I moved to royal oak and would definitely recommend Detroit fly house. They have a large variety of class types. The series classes are a good deal also, unfortunately my work schedule doesn’t always allow for me to do that but they’re very accommodating with drop-ins as well. The teachers are very skilled and teach based on the individuals level of skill it seems. It’s also just a fun great work out if you’re looking for something more unique than the gym. The location is easy to get to right off the highway and there’s always parking.

Whether you are a native Michigander, or a visiting aerialist like me, Detroit Fly House is a wonderful place to learn, grow, and take to the air! They offer long term classes, and allow drop ins for classes that have the room for them, as well as private lessons. I’ve dropped in on a lot of classes here while visiting my family in the area, and all of them have been great. The space is lovely, and the people are even more lovely! If you’ve never done aerials, I think you’ll find this a very welcoming space to give them a shot! I didn’t start doing aerials until my 30s, so please don’t ever think it’s too late to learn! From someone who has never before done anything aerials: this is THE place.

The coaches are awesome!!! They provide encouragement and positive feedback with moves and sequences. When I’ve made mistakes they've communicated what went wrong in a constructive way that only makes me want to try again to improve. Improper vs proper forms are highlighted, and why those are important for safety. I never feel self-conscious asking questions or for clarification. Different ways to mount, dismount, and move through sets are demonstrated inclusively for all ability levels and all bodies.

The studio space is aesthetically fun and the atmosphere is always super welcoming and open. I could not have asked for a better place to start, and I can’t wait to be in more classes. Every session is fun and the coaches are friendly & personable. All the words of praise for this beautiful, wonderful, amazing space and the people who make it all possible.

They adapt to every level; as an experienced artist, they provided challenges, but also were able to scale back when I took class with my family who it was their first time. The best aerial school in the area! I've attended nearly two years focusing on flying pole, and am so grateful for this school, as well as for Laura (she's amazing!!), the flying pole coach! I've recently began taking flexibility class as well with Bailey, and she's been wonderful! No matter what class you take with whoever as the coach, you're sure to leave happier than when you got there - and likely with a piece of a new art / skill! 10 / 10, every time!

Detroit Flyhouse is safe, professional, and so much fun. I have been going to classes for 2 years and I always have the best time. The instructors meet you wherever your skill level is and help you build from there. The studio itself has free parking infront of it and is super easy to get to. It’s super cute and colorful with high ceilings. If you’re looking for a place to exercise and escape from life for a bit this is definitely the place to go.

We love the Detroit Flyhouse! I was looking for an activity where my child could build strength and flexibility without constant pounding on her body. This has been amazing and she is super committed. The best part of the year for us is when my little one is empowered to choreograph and stage her own aerial performance and perform it in a large theatre. I have watched adults and children come in for the first time and leave with a sense of accomplishment and excitement that seems to be addictive. I would recommend this experience to anyone.

I took my first flying pole class with Laura during the pandemic. Since that time I have gained strength and confidence. Flying pole classes have offered the opportunity to learn a fun, unique beautiful apparatus but also to meet amazing people in a nonjudgmental, safe and welcoming atmosphere. We love the Flyhouse!! My daughter has been going here since September 2021 and has truly found her passion. I had a wonderful first class at Detroit Flyhouse and I can hardly wait to return next week! Before registering for my beginner aerial series, the business owner, Micha, was responsive and supportive in regards to all of my questions. Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by staff members and I immediately felt welcome and comfortable. The aerial coaches seem to be incredibly competent, kind, talented and enthusiastic and I am so glad I've stepped into such a great community to learn, progress and play! I enjoyed my first session and Jay, my instructor, helped me feel safe and confident in trying lots of fun new things on the tippy lyra and the silk hammock. Purchasing a class series is one of the best gifts I've ever given myself and I'm excited to build my confidence and skill set in this awsome art form. Our coaches Laura & Sarah were so welcoming and supportive, making sure we were all comfortable and encouraged to try new things with aerial hammock. I cannot recommend this place enough! This place is the best! I love going to circus classes here. They are amazing at tailoring lessons to people who have been doing aerials for years and people who are trying circus out for the first time. This place is a hidden gem! Every single instructor I have worked with has been fantastic. I always feel safe trying new things.

We tried out the youth circus for the first time today for our twin 7-year-olds. They are into gymnastics, and have always been interested in the circus. The coaches at the Flyhouse were super welcoming and the class was fun and light while still teaching a lot of great aerial skills. 1 year ago I had the first contact with these wonderful, warm, car taking and crazy fun people. Non off these teachers judge you on what you are able to do. They don't care if you are able to get into a perfect split, but for sure they celebrate every little success with you. Here you can say stop and no one tells you, that you have to. Becoming able to run away with the circus or just meet new friends and Familie member, during learning to move your body in a cool way. Here you are right.

My wife and I have been taking classes here for years - aerial, acro, and others. It is an amazing place to learn how to do amazing things.

Instructors are all professional performers. Safety is a huge priority, which can sometimes slow the class down when compared to other places, but then again after years of classes, no injuries, and when hanging 10' off the ground, safety is important. Classes sell out very quickly. Drop-ins for classes are often available and highly recommended to get a sense of what's to come before committing for a full series. Private lessons are also a great way to get some experience or build on what you're learning in class.

Aerial (silks, trapeze, lyra, etc.) will be painful the first few times you do it! Just like any other intensive activity you try out, it requires body adjustment and you're going to have bruises, aches, and pains in unfamiliar places. But also just like any other intensive activity your body will adjust quickly.

Tons of fun, and a real feeling of accomplishment, growth, and development as you get stronger, more confident, and more skilled.

I've been attending Acro and Aerial Acrobatics courses at the Detroit Flyhouse for over a year now, and I can honestly say that I'm now in the best shape of my life. I feel better and more confident than I ever have before, and I feel more rewarded by life in general due to the positive changes in my outlook that come along with better health,and in turn, physical and mental well-being. Aerial can require nerves of steel, or a simple need to just get your feet off the ground. It is up to you.

Experiences may vary, but I went from being a very nonathletic person to one who takes pride in a physical pursuit for its value in exercise and how much it has changed my thinking about what I can and cannot do for the positive. If you are new to acroyoga, aerial training, or other circus arts, this is the best place I can think of to start.

I was a regular at another aerial studio spending >$80/wk and signed up for a workshop over 2 weeks away at Flyhouse to try it out. Literally the day after I signed up, I found out I had to get surgery that could not wait, and the doctor told me not to do physical activities for a period of time that included the date of the workshop. I emailed them that day to cancel the workshop I had just booked, explaining about finding out about the surgery, and received a reply that the workshop was completely non-refundable. Businesses make exceptions to their own policies all the time for specific cases... I would have accepted a class credit, and they could have resold my spot in the workshop. They would have potentially kept me as a regular client and not lost any money or gotten this bad review. I don't support people who do business this way.
