This location is honestly the worst. It’s small, lacks amenities, and I’ve never encountered more stuck-up staff. It’s no surprise they struggle to retain members. Club Studio is not only cheaper but significantly better. The front desk staff there actually greet you despite being much busier (basically they perform their job), and even the “membership advisors” are friendlier. The only people who were consistently pleasant at Equinox were the maintenance staff, who I want to highlight as incredibly kind and hardworking.
Meanwhile, the front desk team, especially the light-skinned guy, rarely said hello or goodbye because they were too absorbed in their phones. The membership advisors, particularly the short girl, walk right past you like you’re invisible and act inconvenienced if you ask them anything. The only one who ever spoke to me was the black advisor. They definitely don’t need an entire section of desks for people who seem to do nothing but sit around.
Beyond the rude staff, the facility itself is disappointing. As others have said, there’s no sauna. The class selection is weak, and some instructors aren’t great. The gym is tiny compared to other locations and to nearby “luxury” gyms. Much of the equipment is outdated or doesn’t even work.
At the very least, if they want to keep or attract members, they need to add a second floor, replace the rude front desk team, build a sauna, offer more styles of classes, and most importantly lose the ego.
I should not feel like I’m intruding just by showing up to work out at a gym I pay a premium for, nor should I be blatantly ignored by staff. You work at a gym, one many of you probably couldn’t afford to join, so please get over yourselves.

My husband and I have been members at Equinox for a few months, but we will be leaving for a crucial reason. The gym is VERY cold in the winter, often resulting in injuries and poor workout performance. Unfortunately, management has not done anything about it despite many members feeling this way. Temp should be at least 70 degrees. Highly recommend Lifetime or Club Studio who already do this and don't try to skimp on the heat bill.

There is absolutely no logical reason to pay such a high membership fee here. The gym itself is small, crowded, and feels very limited in equipment. Free-weight racks are few and packed tightly, and overall the setup feels basic and amateur. Honestly, it’s like a “luxury-renovated Planet Fitness” 😅. The only impressive part is the locker rooms — clean, modern, and stylish — but that should never be the main highlight. For this price, the training floor and equipment should be the priority, and this location simply doesn’t deliver.

I honestly cannot understand how a gym that calls itself luxury and charges over $200 a month does not have a sauna. A sauna is not an optional extra, it is a basic standard feature that should be included in every serious fitness center. Countless other gyms that charge far less all provide saunas as part of the membership. For Equinox to skip this is unacceptable and feels like cutting corners at the expense of their members.
What makes it worse is that they have multiple offices set up just for signing up new members, yet they could not prioritize something as important as a sauna. That tells you everything about their focus. They are more interested in selling you the image of luxury than actually delivering it.
For the price, you would expect top-tier wellness amenities across the board, but the reality is a stripped-down version of what they advertise. Equinox Bloomfield Hills looks polished from the outside, but once you are inside, you realize it is style over substance. If you are paying top dollar, you should never have to wonder if your gym has the basics. This location does not deliver, and the lack of a sauna makes it feel misleading, overpriced, and disappointing.

Love this gym! It’s actually the only Equinox in all of Michigan, and you can definitely feel the upscale vibe as soon as you walk in. The space is super clean, modern, and well-organized.
The locker rooms feel like a spa—think steam rooms, nice showers, and all the little touches that make a difference. The café inside is also a great perk—perfect for grabbing a smoothie or healthy bite after a workout.
If you're looking for a gym that goes beyond just equipment and really focuses on the whole experience, this is it.

Equinox is hands down the best gym I’ve been to. The equipment is always top-notch and well-maintained, but what really sets it apart is the atmosphere—it’s clean, never feels overcrowded, and the staff keeps everything running smoothly. The sauna and cold plunge are a huge plus, making recovery just as much of a priority as training. It’s not the cheapest option out there, but if you actually use the amenities, it’s worth every penny.

Unfortunately, this is the gym where my prescription glasses were stolen. My prescription glasses, worth approximately 800 USD, were stolen while I was going to and from the toilet - exactly 2 minutes. Even more interesting, no one paid attention. I just received ridiculous comments like "Are you sure? Maybe it's somewhere else." Unfortunately, I don't want to go anymore. The management's only concern is new membership

I recently moved to the area and was looking for more of a luxury gym similarly to what I used to have. I made an appointment for a tour several days ago online at 1:30 PM and arrived at that time. The front desk girl let me know that my membership specialist was busy with another client, and I happily waited for about 20 minutes.
After those 20 minutes, I went back up to the desk to check in and see if there was a status update, only to be told that the membership specialist responsible for giving me a tour had left. Not a great first impression.
I appreciate the team making something work and arranging for someone else to give me a tour 30 minutes after my scheduled time, but for the monthly price tag, I expected a bit more attentive customer service. Additionally, I didn’t receive any of the follow-up information I was told I would receive after my visit.
I was very much so looking forward to joining, but unsure now. Hoping it was just an off day.

This gym is a great option depending on what you’re looking for. It has great equipment, there are a ton of classes to choose from, it’s clean and has pretty good hours. The Equinox brand definitely appeals to a younger crowd (18-40) and has a great aesthetic. The yoga studio is beautiful and the mats/blocks/towels/bolsters are by Manduka, which as a regular yoga practitioner I can say is the best brand out there. The pool, hot tub and cold plunge are also very nice. I was recently sitting in the hot tub and thought “wow.. it’s so tranquil in here.. I wonder why.” And then I remembered that children aren’t allowed, which I realize isn’t a plus for everyone, but for me it’s a huge selling point. Above all I think the best thing about this gym is the staff, everyone is so friendly and knowledgeable. Especially Bernadette! She is my go to whenever I have questions about memberships/classes/gym offerings and events. Bernadette is so kind and was able to answer all of my questions about the gym, she wasn’t pushy when it came to signing up and even got me a discounted rate by looking up my employer. Highly recommended. Thanks again Bernadette!

Been working out at lifetime in Bloomfield for years, I looked online and realized they had cold plunge which is really what drove me to look into joining. I love lifetime, but I’d give up a better gym for a cold plunge. I made an appointment online TUESDAY, for Saturday at 9:30 AM to meet with a membership specialist. Checked in 5 Minutes early, front desk guy checked me in and said “ someone will be out with you shortly”. I sat in the lobby for 20 minutes… I went up to him and asked him if my membership guest services person would be out to meet me soon. He replies “on sorry - I forgot, let me call now”. I proceeded to wait around for another five minutes before I eventually just told him I was no longer interested. Horrible impression for a monthly tag of $220. I have been to a planet fitness with more attentive employees. I wouldn’t join this gym if it was free. With that being said, this “gym” more of a status symbol than a real gym. It was jammed packed And I could see people sitting on weight machines texting or gossiping. If you want to join a real gym for fitness, Lifetime is it. If you want a place with free smoothie samples and Lululemon store in the lobby, Equinox is for you.

I am so unimpressed with the company. The gym is beautiful, and the classes are fantastic. The instructors are great and have good programming. HOWEVER, the amount of marketing and sales they push is beyond obnoxious. I have received countless texts and emails at all hours about coming to my 'free assessment,' which I explained that I was not interested in attending when I signed up months ago. The messages still won't stop despite my telling several people to stop them.
When I reached out to the club manager to give positive feedback about a particular class and instructor and ask if it could be added to an evening schedule, not only was my email not acknowledged, but they did not pass along the kudos or feedback to the instructor. All they have contacted me about is pushing their business or increasing the money they get out of me each month through selling me personal training. When I actually had something to say, I was ignored.
I cannot wait until my contract is up.

When I first joined, I was impressed with how clean the locker room was. Now I’m disappointed. The locker rooms are not as clean, especially the toilet areas. Also, the treadmills have old wipes and garbage in the cup holders. For the price of membership and the fact that I was sold on the gym’s cleaning standards, I wish they would go back to the high quality of cleanliness as when I first joined.

I asked the price and was told I have to call back when a member adviser is available I said just give me a range and the employee does not even know a price range to his own gym. Owner needs to learn to train employees and to have a better system in place. At this point I will never know the price because I lost interest before knowing anything about the gym lol

Five stars! And why not? This is truly the best facility I have ever been to for exercise and wellness. This gym checks off so many boxes for me: floor space, equipment availability, friendly staff, cleanliness, hours of operation, and options for recovery and rehab, such as balance boards, various bands, a cold plunge that seats four, a dedicated stretching area, and massage tables, in addition to the masseuse in the spa.
Try not to think of it as just another gym with a high price. Instead, consider it as an investment in removing roadblocks from your path to achieving great workouts and overall fitness goals. The large number of staff onsite helps make the facility what it is by eliminating those roadblocks. I believe this is the biggest difference between Equinox and other gyms. The staff are incredibly helpful and supportive, from the front of the house to the back. The equipment is always in great shape, and if there is an issue, it is repaired quickly (usually the same day, in my experience).
I believe Equinox is the best public gym in Michigan. I have also visited two Equinox locations in Illinois, which were nice but not as nice as Equinox Bloomfield Hills. I highly encourage you to take a tour and form your own opinion. I took two tours about two years apart before I made the commitment to join. And when you take that tour, don't base your decision solely on cost; ask yourself if this is the place that will help you achieve your fitness goals.

Pros: The classes are fun and the instructors are amazing. The personal training is top notch. The treadmills are great and absolutely loved the treadmill class options! Enjoyed shopping in the store but wish they updated the clothing on a more regular basis. I loved the steam room and products available for when you have to get ready at the gym. I love the scented chilled towels- such a nice touch! Cons: The personal training is extremely expensive on top of the already expensive membership. They cannot get a juice/smoothie business to stay there so you don't have that option like you do at Lifetime or Powerhouse, there is not enough equipment even considering how dead it is. They constantly increase prices- so much so, I could no longer go :(. The steam room was always missing the eucalyptus (sometimes it was avail- which was also a nice touch!). I think if they lowered the prices due to the lack of equipment, no infrared sauna option, no cafe, etc... I would have stayed.

This is a good gym if you don't need one with extended hours. I was a member for 2 ½ years, and I used the club for one-to-one training and pilates sessions. Both of the people I worked with were very good. The best way to use the gym is to also take advantage of the many classes that are covered under the monthly fee. They have lots of great instructors. The problem arises when you try to leave the gym. They have a policy that they will not refund money for unused training/pilates sessions unless you have a medical reason for the leave. I would avoid getting the package training deals unless you are sure you are staying.
They don't always repair things promptly in the gym. They have good playlists for the music, and I personally think the eucalyptus towels are worth it.

If you like a gym that closes at 9 pm Mo- Th, 8 pm on Fri, and 5 pm on weekends….where the shower heads haven’t been cleaned in nearly a year, where maintenance staff are all rude school-aged ”adults” except 1-2 of them, where the gym starts closing 30 min before actual close, where they spray chemical cleaners in showers next to yours while you’re using it, then this may be the one for you! Oh and if you try to share your joy with management, they absolutely do not care, which feels nice! Same with corporate. 0/10 would pass. Only plus is it’s basically empty majority of the time, which should have been my first clue 🙄

With the hefty price comes some exclusivity. Equinox is the elite country club of gyms. I enjoy the salt water pool, the unlimited classes and the steam room. I mean who needs a dry sauna when you have a steam room! Lastly, Gabby is phenomenal and I love her boxing class. Oh, I can forget Linda and her wonderful yoga class. My only complaint is the unused cafe space. I really wish we had a smoothie bar or some sort of healthy dining option.

I had the pleasure of visiting here for the first time the other day. Derryck was very helpful in assisting me with potentially setting up a membership. It’s a very luxurious atmosphere, plenty of marble, a very private pool, hot tub area, modern machines, etc. I do however wish they’d have an outdoor pool area for the summer at least to outweigh the benefits of their competitors, and reopen their lounge area which is unfortunately closed. Not to mention their hours are a little odd, they close very early. I am happy that I was able to experience it though.

$250 for a single membership and only open until 5pm on weekends!? No thanks.Their sales team has called me relentlessly after telling them to lose my number. Only way I would be interested is if they turned into a 24hr gym. Initially my wife suggested I look into Equinox as a possible solution to facilitate some of our fitness goals. Having gotten an overview of Equinox from their website we visited the club. It was a laughable experience. We were met with the usual out of the box sale banter and even as we explained our needs and our potential concerns we were met with phrases like “will you be working out by yourself or with a trainer” Really? For $195 per month we were faced with no better than $10 per month sales scripts. What a joke.
Learn to think outside the box if you want people to join your box. Educate the front desk staff on options and get some innovative people. Also basic business answer your phones and return messages. Enough said.

This is the hands-down the cleanest, well-maintained gym I have ever stepped foot inside with the most courteous and professional staff I have ever met.
Everything about it is top notch--from the pristine locker rooms with clean showers, designer bath and body products, all the fresh towels you need (including cold eucalyptus infused towels to cool off with after breaking a sweat), all sorts of high-end fitness classes, state-of-the-art workout equipment, beautiful pool, hot tub, and steam rooms. Every single member of the staff would address me by name and greet me with a smile. They are out of this world amazing! I would look forward to attending a yoga or barre class a few times a week after work and then go relax in the hot tub or sauna.
That being said, we were almost certain that loyal guests would have been offered a reduced rate down from the $320 for two people a month when the gyms were able to reopen again. I called to ask about this and was told flat-out by a gentleman that it was still the same rate.
There is no point paying $320 for a gym membership when everything that was part of the draw of going there was taken away. You have to sing up in advance to save a spot to workout now and all of the after-work time slots are always already taken. My boyfriend and I both work so we cannot make it in the middle of the day. No more hot tub, pool, steam room, towels, so you might as well sign up at one of the other gyms in the area. We have decided to freeze our memberships for the foreseeable future.

If you don’t look like this from your gym, it’s cause you aren’t at this one. Cleanest most professional well lit and maintained gym you’ll ever experience.

Comparing this club to lifetime Bloomfield. Unless you are only at equinox for the classes. I don’t see why you would pick this club over lifetime Bloomfield. Lifetime has the same upscale luxury experience, but it’s bigger and has a hot tub, both dry/wet sauna inside the men’s locker room. It’s amazing how a luxury gym doesn’t see the need for a dry sauna. With all that said it’s still a nice gym for the right person.

This place lives up to the hype of being one of the best gym brands in its class today. I had a guest pass and tried the place out recently and was impressed with the findings. The gym is probably the cleanest place I have ever visited. The staff are all friendly and welcoming. They have a large variety of food and drinks as well as apparel for sale on one end of the gym. They are multiple private rooms for classes and working out. The bathrooms are aesthetically pleasing to the eye, and probably this is the only gym I would ever consider showering in. The issues I have is with the price for a membership and personally I require heavy bags to workout so I was surprised there weren’t any there. I think there should be special pricing for college students or a wellness program so more people can join. That being said, beautiful place and if you have not checked it out I would recommend trying it out at least.

I love the gym, but it is a little pricey. The staff keeps the gym clean and are nice. I like that the classes are included with membership. I wish there were more locations and that they had a dry sauna. I will be checking out the spa in the future.

Great luxury health club. I was a member in NYC so I was super excited when I moved back knowing this location was opening. This location is very similar to Brookfield Place in lower Manhattan in regards to the layout.

I joined this athletic club when it opened and it’s consistently great. The staff is energetic and friendly. The instructors are motivating and obviously happy to be there. There is a wide range of classes running from dusk til dawn. The facility itself is always clean and stocked. If a class is full, join the waitlist..most of the time, ppl cancel and your slot opens up 👍🏼

You need to compare this club t9 the Beverly Hills Club....the BHC has a stronger legacy and it’s 6 stars. The club is truly a club where friends work out as well as socialize. Great kids club and lots of tennis. This club is a more accurate comparison than to life time. Check out the rates too. I got bombarded with equinox playing the money wheel with loads of selling emails with artificial deadlines. If you want class at the world class level visit the DAC. I ignore clubs that use spam to sell. Anything new is nice but BHC has proven itself over the last 30 years...manny have been members that long as well at a fraction of the dues of Equinox. Wait to you see the dues increase. No question it’s new but still missing what’s important.
Again check out the BHC unless you are hung up on travel. It’s a destination club. Beat Equinox will take this down once they see it

This gym is a lot different from the standard equinox but still offers everything that other locations have. The locker rooms are great and very clean and have all the amenities you would need. Comparing this place to Lifetime Bloomfield I would say the only better part about it is the locker rooms and the classes that they offer. If you are only joining to workout and not to take advantage of the classes I wouldn’t recommend joining. Lifetime is definitely a lot nicer and bigger than this gym, but the classes they offer don’t compare to them such as the Yoga class they have.

One of the nicest gyms I've been to. The staff is very friendly, maintenance does a great job, and all of the equipment is top of the line. What more could you really ask for?

Not a single BMW for sale. Couldn't even take the one in the parking lot for a test drive. Great treadmills, though.
