Why can't they invent a swimming bathtub as a treadmill? Fitness 19 is the best.

It's fine to get in a good workout but last time I went the place smelled like puke. And some of the customers has a lingering oder that was pretty rank as well. I don't think I'll be returning bc I have a very sensitive sense of smell and I just can't take it.

The new management team is fantastic. Integrity is hard to find in today's business environment, so when you run across it, it is much appreciated. the old owners closed their commerce twp gym about a year ago. 2 weeks before they closed they renewed my yearly membership. upon learning the gym was closed in commerce twp, I contacted the old management team. They said they would refund the membership, but never did. I attempted to get my refund for over 10 months. My last contact I reached the new management team, explained my situation and they refunded my payment the next day. Thank you Brian and the new owners. If the W. Bloomfield gym was in my area (I live in White Lake), I would join this gym without hesitation.

The new manager Bryan is clearly trying to turn this place around! After months of battling and getting no where with old management he reached out to me! And all issues were resolved in a matter of minutes!

I was a Fitness 19 member for 5 years but I never really liked the West Bloomfield location because it's incredibly small, exercise machines often don't work, television screens are nearly unwatchable, and most people are not friendly (except trainer Bill who is a terrific person.) I agree with the other posters that Fitness 19 is shameless about getting every penny from you once you quit your membership. I would NOT recommend joining the West Bloomfield Fitness 19 because it's not a good place to exercise and the Fitness 19 agreement isn't customer friendly.

There's two other important negative aspects to this gym. First, there is no national customer service oversight for Fitness 19. It's a franchise business giving individual owners total power of their membership contracts. Therefore, they don't have to worry about negative customer feedback to a national chain and the client has no recourse for gym problems. Second, the West Bloomfield location was previously connected to the Commerce location and they were absolutely unscrupulous in closing the Commerce, MI location without notifying anyone of the impending closure. In fact, I saw them actively recruiting new members just days before they knew the location would be closing! They never posted a sign notifying people of the closure. Make no mistake, the West Bloomfield location will close sometime in the near future and they will be following the same shameless approach as before, getting every last dollar they can at your expense.

Good gym. Bad business. I canceled my membership due to moving. The process was super simple I couldn't believe it. They said I would have one more payment which should be auto withdrawn from my account just like all the previous ones. Two months later I get a letter from them saying my accounts is past due with numourous late fees. I called them and they said my account # declined the payment. This is BS because I have never once had a problem with my account. I use it almost everyday. I called them and they tried it again and it went through no problem. How convenient for them.

I have been a member since 2015. Great atmosphere! Love to walk on treadmill. I would like to know more about how to use the other equipment. But my overall experience is a great one!!!!

I've been going here nearly 3 years and never had a negative experience. The staff are friendly and helpful. People of all types and builds work out here; it's definitely a judgment free zone!

I've been going to this gym for 3+ years now and have always had a good experience. The manager Danny is super nice and will do as much as he can to work with you. The rest of the staff is also super nice and helpful with whatever. Even the trainers will help with simple stuff as long as they are not with clients. The gym has all the equipment necessary and the price is on point.

The gym is small and cramped with a bunch of old people who obviously wouldn't like upbeat techno music but that's all they play. Not only that but there is a trainer named Laurel there who thinks she owns the gym and her self entitlement has led me to walk out during a workout.

Edit: not only that, but my girlfriend has complained over five times about old men staring at her private parts while working out, with nothing being done about it.

Average gym. I cancelled my membership, and continued to get billed for months later. Same thing happened to my sister last year. Get all your paperwork and confirmations -- don't trust the staff.

Been going to the place for years, didn't expect this.

Friendly staff, but equipment is old, so could use an upgrade. It's super cheap, so if you just want basic gym (treadmill, elliptical, weight) it's worth the cost.

As others have stated - canceling your membership is problematic, and not a good experience.

While I lived in Michigan, this gym served its purpose. It's no frills, everyone who works there is pretty nice. Was kept pretty clean. You've got your typical Oakland County meatheads that frequent the place (you know who I'm talk about) but on the whole not a bad place.

I cancelled in person the last week I was in the state. Months later I noticed the monthly withdrawal on my bank account was still going strong. When I called to inquire about it, the rep was friendly and naturally defended her employees against any wrongdoing. That's where my gripe comes into play - it's certainly a possibility that someone on your staff screwed up. I'd been a member in good standing for years, and I didn't enjoy the blame for this being piled on me. I understand that you're a small business and trying not lose money, but show a little empathy for your members.

The copy of the form I signed has likely been lost. So I've had to go through my bank to stop any further payments to them. It's not likely I'll get a refund for those six months I've been gone, and I've been told that they'll be charging me another month's membership fee, and because I've put a stop payment on their authorization, late fees - which will eventually go into collection.

With a little empathy and thought to working with one of your members, you could have avoided a poor review, and souring what was otherwise a positive experience. I'll make sure those in my network still in the area know what they're getting themselves into by signing up here. Just unfortunate.

If I was reviewing just the gym and its facilities, it would get 3 stars. Basic equipment, not in a great condition but manageable. Smells sweaty and bad as soon as you enter and no locker room. But for $19 a month, it serves its purpose as a basic gym.

The reason it gets one star and not 3 is the customer service. I had to cancel my membership because I was moving out of town. I remembered from the contract that it has to be in writing and they charge for one more month. So I sent them an email on the 16th saying I would like to cancel. Received no reply for a couple of weeks. So, I called them the night before I had to leave to confirm. These are the reasons I am pissed off enough to bother leaving a review:

1) The person who answered the phone said they didnt receive my email. Without even asking for my name or email id or membership number!! Looks like he has psychic powers
2) Then he said they didnt read my email-which i know for a fact that is a lie. Because I have an automatic tracking app and so I had proof that HE WAS LYING TO MY FACE.
3) Apparently, an email is not "written" notice. Which is fine, but how was I supposed to know that if they don't even bother replying? It seemed like they were trying to scam me and charge fee for the coming months as well.
4) I cancelled on the 16th and the membership was paid on the 15th. So I assumed that would be the last payment. But no, since I was 12 hours late in sending my email, I am charged for a whole new month.
5) I asked to speak to the supervisor and was never transferred
6) Last, I asked him that how do I send a written notice if I am out of town? After he refused to take my email as a written notice, I said I would come in and sign. Then he very rudely started questioning "but you just said you were out of town" over and over again. What was he trying to do? Accuse me of lying, so that I don't talk about his cheating and lying that I had proof about?

In any case, if you can go to any other location, even if it is farther, please do. If you can join any other gym please do. Or if nothing else, just go running outside in the cold. Anything is better than this place that treats its customers with zero respect and lies to them and scams them.

I originally joined Fitness 19 at their Commerce location about a year and a half ago to train for the Tough Mudder event in 2013. I wanted an affordable gym that would have everything that I would need in terms of strength training, conditioning, and cardio for a novice like myself. Let me just say that not only did the facility and its staff meet my expectations with their friendliness and attentiveness, but the gym provided me with everything that I needed to excel at the competition. Ever since then I’ve been able to make it a habit to workout every single day, and it’s genuinely a pleasure going there knowing it will be a welcoming environment where I can focus on improving myself.

I've really enjoyed going to this gym for the past year or so. The facility is clean and friendly. I enjoy seeing some people I know, and it's encouraging to see all of the progress they've made. And since working out there it has helped me feel better and stay focused on losing weight.

Been to LA Fitness/LifeTime Fitness/Planet Fitness & Powerhouse. Fitness 19 West Bloomfield has hands down the friendliest staff and best atmosphere.

They take care of their members!
