Great variety of free weights, weight machines, and cardio room. Access to pool, hot tub, sauna, and tanning for $40 a month. Very nice staff.

I had a very disappointing experience at this fitness center. I drove over 40 minutes to get there with my kids, only to be denied entry by the front desk employee because my children are under 16. What makes it worse is that I clearly saw other kids around the same age already inside the pool and fitness area.
The front desk staff was extremely rude and unprofessional, and the whole situation was handled poorly. I would not recommend dealing with them at all. Very frustrating and unfair experience.

Nasty pool area, rude staff and members, people scroll on their phone or eat protein bars while sitting at a machine for 10+ minutes

We joined recently. Despite some reviews. I love the small, private feel. I hate going to huge gyms, like LTF. It's overwhelming there. The only thing that bothers me here is, a lot of people sit on the machines and doom scroll on their phones. It's not just a minute or two for rest, it's 10 or 20 minutes with no movement. I get it, they paid their membership fees, but we did as well. To workout, and get away from scrolling. I wish the staff actually checked in on the rooms and reminded members to keep moving or step aside until they are ready to stay moving again.

i went to this place with my cousins to go swimming and the moment i got inside we kept getting dirty looks, and followed by workers around the pool, the floors inside the pool cut all of our feet up and there were bugs floating around the pool.

I went to go swimming, and there was bugs at the bottom of the pool, there was a whole bunch of old men staring at me the whole time and acting weird, it was overall a horrible experience and the whole time it said no smoking all over and there was people vaping, it smells horrible and the whole entire place stinks. It looks good online then the pool in person looks so much smaller different.

Gym staff was nice, but equipment is old and fading, Their cardio room is small and sweaty feeling it also has a sketchy looking ceiling, this is suppose to be a gym but they don’t have 1 weight scale in the place which I thought was very odd. Their tanning booths are also very weak. I won’t return until everything has been updated

Pretty good for a haunted gym. My step son saw the man in red but I was soaking my foot in the hot tub and couldn’t be bothered.

I love this place. Every time my Dearborn pool is closed, I can count on short term membership with the Forum Gym. The showers are great and the staff members are so kind. I always read the positive messages written on the white board as I leave and it brightens my day.
Thank you all!

If you’re searching for a gym with all the essentials and a dash of old-school charm, this local spot is the place to be. It has everything you need: a pool, hot tub, dry sauna, steam room, cardio equipment, free weights, and machines. While it may look a bit dated, that’s part of its appeal. It’s always clean, the equipment may not be cutting-edge, but it all works perfectly, and you can definitely build muscle here.

What makes this gym truly special is that it’s a mom-and-pop operation that’s been going strong for decades. The owners are friendly and hands-on, and the personal touch here is something you won’t find at the big franchises. It really deserves to have twice as many clients as it has now.

But here’s the thingβ€”there’s been talk that it might go up for sale and close as a gym. That would be a huge loss for the community. If you live in Westland, Garden City, or Dearborn Heights, this should be your go-to gym. It offers everything the big chains do but with a better vibe, more personality, and unbeatable prices. Let’s rally together and keep this local gem aliveβ€”maybe we can save it!

Great local gym! Everyone is so friendly. It's definitely a gym for those offended by traditional gyms. We've been visiting for over 20 years. The gym could use a little updating, but it's got everything you need to get a great workout and feel safe & welcomed while doing so. Both of my kids took private/group swim lessons here and we loved Don. My son especially did very well with him.

I signed my 10-year-old neurodivergent son up for swim lessons with staff Micheal. When first signing up for lessons, I was told they only have two entrances to the pool area which are through the men's locker room or the women's locker room.
I was told that he could use either one. To be certain, I asked if I could take him to the women's locker room because he was unable to go into the men's locker room unsupervised and I was told yes.
I was able to do that for a few weeks without issue. The front staff saw when we checked in and walked into the ladies locker room.
Suddenly the swim instructor Don directly informs my son that he can no longer use the women's locker room. At that time, I told Don that my child was not able to use a men's locker room unsupervised because he needed to shower after swim lessons because we don't go straight home. He then told me he would be more than happy to walk my son into the men's locker room and make sure he did what he needed to do. Again, I let him know I was not comfortable with that either.
I was then told by Don that my son could walk through the men's locker room to get to the pool area and then change in the family room which is just a small room with a door and has no showers or lockers. I reiterated that he needs to wash off after being in a chlorinated pool because we don't go straight home. I offered to bring his documentation showing his impairments, which Don declined.
I took my concerns back to the front desk and once again was told there were no issues with me taking him to the women's locker room as long as we were being careful and mindful. I proceeded to bring him and followed the front desk's instructions.
On 4/23/24, we show up at lessons, he changed in the women's locker room and we were standing in the pool area waiting for class to start. Don climbed out of the pool walked past me put his hands on my son's shoulders and proceeded to usher him toward the men's locker room while telling me he was going to show him through the men's locker room because he couldn't go back in the women's locker room. I told him that I was not comfortable with my son being in the men's locker room unsupervised! I was then told he couldn't return to swim lessons.
I find it alarming that Don was so persistent and insistent that my neurodivergent child used the male's locker room with his supervision even though we thoroughly expressed our discontent. Don even dared to say that he was more qualified to suggest that I give my child independence to go into the male's locker room unsupervised by a parent although I thoroughly expressed that he was not mentally mature enough and my extreme discomfort with my son taking a shower while accompanied by him and unsupervised by his parent. I also found it biased that he informed me that the facility couldn't accommodate my son's special needs only after insistently trying to get him to use the male's locker room. That should have been expressed to me when signing up and all of this could have been prevented.
Many other children used the female locker room including male children.
Given the circumstances, we kept in mind that it was still a place where the privacy of females should be respected. We developed a routine that ensured we didn't infringe upon anyone's rights to safety or privacy. I made sure I stayed directly with my child the entire time he was in the locker room to monitor his every action.
Not only did we have to deal with the locker room issue, but my son cut his foot open in their pool on 3/19/24 which required a visit to urgent care and resulted in 3 stitches and derma bond.
I'm not looking to take my son back to this facility due to the instructor's actions. What I am looking for is accountability and action so this doesn't happen to someone else child. This was a disheartening and traumatizing experience for my son and me as a parent of a special needs child.
The front staff (Holly) submitted a report and or a request for the owners to reach out to us on 4/23/24. It's been 48 hours and no contact has been made.

I've been a member for a year or so now and I love the place! As others have commented, there are a few cosmetic things that are less than perfect (although I'm seeing some of that getting addressed, which is awesome!)

But the things that matter to me are the very best things about Forum: a pool that is always warm, a friendly, welcoming staff, open lap swim (every other pool I've had membership to in the past has had set lap times--at Forum you can come in and swim laps any time you want to!)

I haven't used the weight room, but it _looks_ nice as I pass by on my way into locker rooms (which, again, may not be perfect, but they're always clean).

I’ve been going here almost a year now. I like that it’s not as crowded as most gyms, it’s the only thing that keeps me coming back.
I am disappointed in the facility upkeep. Seems as though no back is being put back into the building. The same stall has been out of order. The same wall has been bare, exposed drywall mud. There is water damage everywhere throughout the building. The cardio room has been missing the same ceiling tiles. The women’s sauna doesn’t really get hot.

I like that there’s not a bunch of teenagers running around like most gyms, it’s quiet and calm. The rooms are separated which I like a lot. The pool area is open an big. Old and vintage but nothing is wrong with that! It’s out dated for being a gym, but I don’t mind that. Some people may think it could use some updating but doesn’t bother me one bit I’m there to workout. I’ve been going to forum for 3-4 years. Never had anything to complain about. I think the workers are all nice. The manager or owner is very cool. I tell a lot of my friends to join this gym. I prefer this gym out of all the gyms I tried.

Kinda dirty, pool needs cleaning. Lots of dust everywhere. I like it because it's affordable and not crowded at all.

*edited- "efforts" doesn't = clean..
the pool area, saunas and locker rooms have the same stuff on the floors for over a week and are in desperate need of frequent deep cleaning and sanitizing on a regular basis.
I have had several infections caused by being at this gym. 1 was a staph infection in the groin area from the sauna, another was swimmers ear infection that was horrible for over a week. That response from owner was even more disgusting with how dismissive it sounds. I'll be going somewhere else, that is hopefully a lot cleaner and will listen to members feedback instead of attacking it.

I am a new member here. While I do enjoy using the facility, especially the pool area and water classes. I am quite bothered by the amount of men who are using these same facilities in their underwear. It makes me very uncomfortable. I have seen others complain but it falls on deaf ears. Also on numerous occasions I have seen children in this same area for swim lessons while this is going on. Is there no rule for proper pool attire? If there is, why isn’t it being enforced?

I've been going to this gym for a while. I like how quiet it is, but I also wish more people came so that the gym could make more money and actually properly fix things. It's a little run down. But the sauna, steam room, pool and large hot tub make it worth it. The people there are nice, good community. Gym equipment is a little old but it works so πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

This place may be old but it's got everything you could ask for in a gym. Machines, free weights, cardio, studio space, a lap pool and a hot tub! The rates are more than reasonable and the hours are great too. Plus it's not crowded with wannabe influences only there to take selfies. Plus the staff is super friendly which really helps. I really am glad I started going here

Overall this gym is OK at best, and will get the job done if you are looking to get some exercise in with a more quiet environment.
The staff are very friendly and always greet you when you arrive. They always do a great a job.
As for the issues it mostly has to do with the building itself.
A number of the men's lockers are rusted, damaged, and in desperate need of repair or replacement.
The cardio room has a small amount of air movement, a number of the drop ceilings are missing, and there is water damage on the wall. Also I noticed one of the air vents in the cardio room was stuffed full of paper?
But overall the gym is fine if you just to get some exercise in.

Would be an amazing idea if you made this gym 24/7 for a slight small upcharge all you would have to do is make our cards read RFID and put an rfid reader on the outside doors and only unlock when each membership card has been entered. If a person brings someone at night without the permission than the camera would catch them and an employee would give them a warning that only paid members can use the 24/7 service also, i wouldnt mind working for you guys to make this happen!

This doesnt bother me but I was also upset when it was closed on easter. when hours showed open and no signs showed to be closed on easter on the building.

Forum Fitness Center and it’s great staff/trainers have been and still is my health and well being way of a new perspective on how to keep myself motivated to get and stay healthy. By participating in the aqua classes, body sculpting, hip hop, and ActiveTrax, I am more aware of how much work and dedication it takes to go from 212 lbs to my current weight of 166. Although mindset and healthy eating are also are key factors in my weight loss it always helps to go to a fitness center to keep me motivated. The other fitness center members are so encouraging and friendly as well as being supportive. Stop by Forum Fitness Center and try it out, you will be glad you did.

Ok, so the two main reasons I stopped coming here were due to my own personal issues, just keep that in mind for this review.

I went here for the summer pre-covid. For the most part, I really enjoyed it. I didn't mind that it was an older place, and mostly went for the pool and to walk the track. Even though there was a sign posted, no one under a certain age allowed (I think it was 16) there were almost always minors in the pool. Which would be fine if they were swimming, but most times they were playing and splashing. I am here to swim laps, not have to deal with kids playing. And it's not that they were unattended, their parents were always in the hot tub chatting.

The second was that after a time, the personal trainer found me and talked me into taking a training session with him, which was fine, but he failed to tell me it was a group activity, which left me uncomfortable. Then I find out that after the short session all I got was a piece of paper telling me what to do... which wouldn't be terrible but the activities on the paper were always different than the machines he taught us to use during g his session. So I felt kind of..of... idk, dropped.

But like I said, those were my issues. Things might have changed it's been 2 years. For what it was, a slightly older gym with a decent sized pool, it wasn't a bad place.

Except there was a man in the hot tub clearly making love to the jet, really leaning into it, and leering at the women in the pool, made me hella uncomfortable. Maybe the staff should set up a camera for this so if something happens there is evidence. Just use the sprayer attachment in the handicap shower like a normal person dude.

The forum has great workout classes and it has everything a gym ever want right under one roof. I had a choice out of 3 gyms to join and the forum came out on top.

With great benefits as a member plus free guest ,paying a low fee for membership and any class. If your looking for a gym to join well you have found it here. The Forum

Zero judgement! A fun and energetic atmosphere in the classes and when you are in your zone, no one is pressuring you to get a higher membership. Plus, there’s a pool (and large hot tub)!!! Where else can you get classes, yoga, weights, personalized training, tanning, sauna/sweat room time AND a pool (they offer swim lessons too!) at their family oriented pricing?! That’s right, nowhere but The Forum. Highly recommend for the beginner all the way up to pro cards. They also have karate classes for all ages and belts.

I train and compete in Ironman and Ironman 70.3 Races throughout North America. I find that the Forum provides great amenities for my training needs. The large pool, indoor track (and treadmills), and cycling options allow me to train all year round, regardless of the weather outside. Heck, they even allowed me to setup my Bike and Trainer in one of their training rooms so that I could do an indoor tri this past fall.

They're very un-proffesional, have arrogant staff plus a show off owner who's pregidous, they treat members who have been at this gym for years not welcome. They have a very dirty gym that is un organized, with very dirty pools that are probably not even fit to be open. I personally would not recommend this gym to anybody and if I could give a zero star rate I would

They allowed men to shove you in the pool and scream at two women swimming and working out to music in the pool. They took the man's side and asked us to move. They condone assault and rude child behavior.

The equipment is clean and spaced out within a reasonable amount of space. No high pressure sales. The pool smells over chlorinated though, and a woman had her 9 to 11 year old son in the dressing room. The shower stalls have see through coatings. I'd prefer the saunas were unisex. I've not tried the tanning equipment yet. But overall, a comfortable place to exercise.

I enjoy Forum Fitness very much. I go two sometimes three days a week using the pool, jacuzzi, showers and steam room. I would request management exterminate because I have seen spiders, ants, and centipedes. I bring a small bottle of spray and continue to enjoy my spa experience. Otherwise, for what I was looking for to continue water therapy recovery from an auto accident, I would give them five stars!

Bad customer service. Quoted incorrect price. Given completely different information over the phone. Price was double in person when I arrived. Wasted my time. Very frustrated. Quoted 39$ for a package that was "month to month cancel anytime". After I arrived I was told I had to pay for "first and last month" i never heard of a month to month where you pay your "last month" up front. When I tried telling the man that he NEVER told me about a "last month" fee over the phone he responded by telling me that he told me that. Which this was a 3 way call when I initially called I had 2 other people interested in going listening and never was anything other than the 39$ brought up. Anyways he went on to say the "first and last month" waived the 99$ fee!!! What! What! Another fee that was NEVER mentioned over the phone. I grabbed my money and debit card and left. I don't know how many other unmentioned "fees" I avoided by just walking away instead of bothering to argue about the quoted price I was given over the phone. Just a waste of my time. Feel like I was lied to just so they could get me in the door to try upselling me more stuff. I also called and double checked the "39$" price TWICE before going up there. Not a single person mentioned any other fees to me at all. Talked to 3 people total before going up there as I had never worked out before and had many questions. But as soon as I pulled my debit card out all anyone could talk about was these fees. Just extremely disappointed as my family went here when I was growing up and never had issues.

I absolutely love this place. I just started about 2 weeks ago, and I am so glad I didn't go to any other gym. I signed up for the Value Membership, which is $39 a month and it's a great deal for what you get. I love the variety of fitness classes, and the instructors are super friendly. Staff has been very friendly and helpful, and the locker rooms, showers, and pool are clean. Doesn't feel crowded either!

I signed my daughter up for the patent tot swim class. we have been going for 4 sessions now, since about April 2014. The instructor, Don, is great with the kids. he is patient, knowledgeable, and good with the kids. The class has helped my daughter with ease in the water and equipped her with water survival skills. The two things I don't like: there is no open swim times for me and my daughter to practice out side of class time, and the front help wasn't very friendly until my face became familiar.
