Went in for a Council and left out a hour later feeling like I’m #1 he motivates you from the start to the end. Dennis makes your workout yours everyone’s workout is different each one is created for you and what your needs are or wants and to top it off it’s not just one area of your body that gets a workout it’s the whole body from head to toe. I worked with Dennis to get in shape after being out of the gym for a while and prepare for a hiking trip and had a great experience! Dennis is a great trainer and overall, a great person. I have never done strength training before contacting him and I am glad I did!
I first contacted Dennis over his website form, and we quickly and easily scheduled the initial info session. When I described my goals and what I hoped to get out of the training, Dennis immediately came up with a plan to get us going.
We did training sessions twice a week, and Dennis was not only great at planning out each training session individually to introduce me to the fundamentals of strength training (which was one of my goals), but he also concisely explained why he chose specific workouts and how they work the body. He was also very good at keeping me engaged and quickly figured out what level of intensity keeps me motivated. He is also a no-nonsense, hands-on person, which for me was really great since it made the sessions focused without dragging them out . Every workout was great, and I enjoyed them thoroughly!
On top of that, Dennis was also readily available over the phone, and responded to any questions over text messages, he kept an eye on my soreness levels and made sure I did not overexert my body early on.
He also went above and beyond his role as a trainer when I went away for a month, and he planned out sessions that I could do by myself at other gyms. Those were based on the exercises we already covered before.
Training with him was fun, challenging, and effective. I feel better, became stronger, and I feel more comfortable going to a gym on my own. I highly recommend him!

I have been with Dennis for 18 months now. I am an almost 78-year-old senior who felt I needed to have some extra muscle strength. I also wanted to just be able to do ordinary things, like get on the floor, get up after a fall, reach those higher shelves in my cupboard. At the same time I started with Dennis, I discovered I had osteoarthritis in my knees. Dennis worked with me to strengthen the muscles around the knees so that now I have no problems with my knees. And I have decided I wanted to take an extra day because just once a week gave me so many benefits.

Ok, I don’t often feel compelled to leave reviews, but I absolutely had to take a minute and share my experience training with Dennis at Freelance. I’ve been weight training for many years, so I’m reasonably knowledgeable and experienced on the subject, so I wasn’t sure how much value I could receive from personal training, but I was so wrong. The workout that Dennis designed for me was challenging, efficient, effective and FUN! Such a nice change of pace from my mundane routine. Dennis is incredibly knowledgeable, passionate and dedicated to his craft and it shows. He is personable, not preachy or condescending and made the whole experience a really positive one for me. I’m a former active duty Marine and athlete who, after two kids and a long move, found myself in a slump/depression. I first met Dennis when I joined PowerHouse Gym as a member of silver sneakers (fitness health benefit for retired persons) and agreed to a free fitness assessment in 2021. I continued with Dennis with paid sessions and learned critical knowhow that has served me well in my quest for fitness at home. I have been working with Dennis for about 8 months. I had a right TKR in 02/2023 and was looking for a trainer who would help me get healthy and build muscle. Dennis works with you and listens to what you want to achieve; he knows just how far to push to help you get results. I have lost weight and put on muscle and feel great. Had the opportunity to train with Dennis and was I impressed! Walking into a clean environment and good music was just icing to the cake…. Literally had the whole gym to myself didn’t have to wait for anything. He put together a custom full body workout that targeted just about everything while adding cardio to keep my heart rate up. I have worked with Dennis for about three years now. I started with the goal of becoming proficient in the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT). I was able to pass but I struggled mentally and physically with higher weights, reps, and the test in general. Dennis took the time to learn about the test is detail, going through the test himself to see what was needed, and then applied what he learned to fit me and my needs. When time came to take it, I exceeded both of our expectations because of my newfound strength and confidence. Since then, he has helped me maintain my gains, supported me through some lows, and been a consistent cheerleader for years. I'm 68 years old, and started working with Dennis over a year ago after a stroke damaged my left side. Initial recovery was good, but there were residual issues I struggled with. I was doing machine circuits in the gym and going nowhere on my own, so I sought out a trainer, and we connected.
In the beginning he focused on functional, compound exercises organized into supersets. He has an uncanny knack for assessing exactly what you are capable of. It took time, naturally, but my fitness and stamina improved beyond expectations. Now fully motivated, my interests have turned to bodybuilding, so Dennis adjusted accordingly and helped me set some targets. Whereas one of my initially ambitious goals was to deadlift an unthinkable (for me) 200lbs, I'm now doing multiple sets of 10 at 225lb, and my 1 rep max is 305lbs and climbing. These are measurable results. Dennis is experienced, competent and knowledgeable. More than just a drill instructor, he's a good teacher and coach, you learn from him. I highly recommend Freelance Fitness.

In the beginning of the pandemic, I hurt my knee and started working with Dennis to be able to walk without pain- also couldn’t get into a Dr because of COVID.
