It is easy to get started with lessons, and it is easy to change classes when they move up to the next level. They are constantly working on their swim skills! We've been going here for half a year and it has been absolutely amazing. Our 3.5 year old daughter has progressed much faster than anticipated and LOVES going to swim. The amenities are fantastic and everyone is so nice. Also, they constantly are checking the pool for safety and often have other instructors helping during the class. There is so much one on one time and they truly have thought of so many things to make swimming more fun for kids!

We love going here! Most of the instructors have been great and my kid looks forward to his lesson each week. I debated giving 4 stars because I find it to be a bit expensive. We love Goldfish Birmingham! My daughter first started taking swim lessons here when she was 4yo now she’s in Pro 2 learning breast stroke and butterfly at 6yo. We love the staff and instructors here. They are caring and supportive. We love the summer kick start and they have free events for the kids throughout the year like last Summer they have Ariel the mermaid to swim with the kids. We have had a great experience with goldfish. My 3 kids all enjoy going and they have been so patient with my 1 who has struggled with going under water. You wouldn’t know it now with the consistency and how fun they have made it. So grateful they are learning swim safety and having fun doing it. We started coming back here for group lessons after my son had a negative experience with ISR. I let staff here know of his newfound fear of water and they went (and continue to go) above and beyond helping him feel comfortable and safe in the water again. My issue is for a child to advance to another level the parent has to bring it to their attention. It’s been recommended by the swim instructors that my child be advanced and it still hasn’t happened a month later. I think it’s a money thing now and very sad to keep watching. Makayla got my daughter all signed up for her 4 month class, she was so professional, welcoming, and friendly! She answered all of my questions and was the sweetest. We were on the fence about joining a different place that was closer to our house but Makayla convinced us to try goldfish and I am so glad she did! I've left a review before. But Goldfish Birmingham just keeps going above and beyond and impressing the heck out of me. This time I want to give a huge shout out to Amanda!

She recognized my daughter's abilities and gave her the opportunity to prove herself today, which she did! She has now moved up to another level that will prepare her for joining the team!

Also, the gentleman that worked with Amanda today to improve my daughter's technique was amazing too. I didn't get his name. But he was the only one with medium length blonde hair.

On top of that the entire staff's professionalism and service from the front desk to inside the pool are top notch. And the facility is kept very clean. We feel like we are part of the Goldfish family. And it's a good feeling. Keep up the good work!

My young daughter experienced swimming for the first time and she was very reluctant to continue the classes. Then excellent teacher/ coach AMANDA took the charge and she involved young kid so beautifully and engaged her that within 2 classes my daughter got mingled and started engaging with teacher and other kids.

We just returned to Goldfish Swim School in Birmingham after taking a break last year. We left because my youngest less confident swimmer wasn’t happy. The instructors changed weekly and he was starting over building trust week to week. The jump start clinics drew us back this summer. Both my kids have been loving it. There’s a fresh energy, every employee that I talk to seems interested in my kids progress. We ended up signing up for a second clinic in addition to the weekly classes. I nearly cried as my youngest rang the bell to move up after the first 6 classes. He’s confident, and pushing to swim farther and dive for toys. Thank you to all who helped us this time around, Max, Amanda, Melissa, Maggie, and Avee. Even the front desk (Ruby) floored me when she offered to add a class for the 2nd clinic week so my kids could go at the same time!

My kids have both attended Goldfish Swim School. My daughter started in the baby pool at 6 months old and went consistently all the way through Pro 2. She had some amazing teachers such as Abby and Ruby. She loves to swim and I’m so happy that I can feel comfortable that she is safe because of all she learned through Goldfish. My kid was so nervous when she heard I was putting her in swim lessons. She was excited but afraid of water. The swim instructors helped her get over her fear the very first class. She was even confident enough to put her head underwater on the first lesson!! She was so proud of herself and everyone praised her for her bravery. Her swim instructor, Coach Lawrence, is patient and attentive to all the swimmers in his lane. I have a good impression of Birmingham Goldfish, but my impression is not correct. When we reach the front desk for any concern, they will provide a response, and within hours, they change the response to what they communicated. Even at the next level, employees will not provide trusted responses. If we ask more, they will say Birmingham Goldfish is private. Whatever they say, we have to listen. I am not sure if they are doing charity; as per them, whatever they say, customers have to wait; they are not in a position to take customer requests; and also, I am not sure if that swims lessons like the way they communicate with customers. I am not really interested in giving a rating because a few employees might be good, and I may not get the chance to talk/work with them.

Our family loves Goldfish Swim School! Both our kids have been with Goldfish since toddler age. Our oldest is almost to Swim Force level while our son is playing catch up from missed classes due to Covid lockdown. They have progressed very nicely with different swim styles and technicalities. I would definitely recommend this school and location for child wanting to learn to swim.

I wouldn't dock review stars for these, however I thought I'd provide feedback for consideration:

1. Credit accounts for unavoidable pool closings. I like the makeup policy if we can't make sessions however if the pool is closed (due to PH level or accidents, etc), I'd rather not be charged. Being a long-term customer, it's very easy to see the makeups count get high.
2. Alternate ways to use makeup sessions. Example, 4 makeup classes equals private 1-hour session? Skills session (comment below)?
3. There have been many occasions where I felt my kids knew everything except had issues with ONE requirement that held them back. Would be nice if there was a way/note/skills session to help them with that isolated requirement to advance quicker.

Awful place. Scheduling classes is nearly impossible because they have the laziest hours of any business. They even close down when kids are off from school so scheduling lessons during breaks is also impossible. They take 2 weeks off for Christmas and a week off for the 4th of July. When they do decide to work, classes are so full that kids swim for 5 minutes of a 30 minute class.
I don’t even bother anymore…

Id close my membership except they don’t return phone calls or email messages but are happy to charge the credit card you’re required to keep on file

I love GSS!!! The lady at the front desk sprays down the chairs in between classes, for the parents. They clean the changing rooms and restrooms after every use. The showers allowed for usage are far from each other. Masks are required!! Teachers have face shields in the pools! Dividers are placed in between then students, and floaters are sanitized after a child uses them! A wad full of awesomeness!!! My daughter loves her teacher Mr.Mike! He is very polite to the kids! They have a process that they follow, and it appears as though the instructors are well trained, but the real gem, and reason for us being here is Jill. She is the manager. Your swim instructor Ms. Kelly (I think) is amazing! She is doing a great job with my son and in just over a month he has already learned so much and has gotten much more confident in the water. He went from hating putting his face in the water to now wanting to be a 'master swimmer' as he puts it. The rest of the staff is friendly, good with kids and very welcoming. I really have no complaints. Also, I feel that the COVID safety measures are being appropriately applied and you have created a fun, safe environment.

The precautions taken are thoughtful and impactful. Kendall loves being back at the Goldfish Swim and this has allowed her to have an element of normalcy. She enjoys seeing and interacting with her swim mates and the staff. The flexiglass dividers are very nice and allow the children to see and talk with each other. Thank you!

All the teachers and pool managers are amazing. So many have helped my 2.5 year old transition to going without me- they all obviously care so much, are so patient, and have even comforted me in hard moments.
