We love Goldfish! Huge shout out and appreciation for lifeguard Zack! Our 3 year old leaned too far while sitting on the side of the pool during class and fell in. Zack instantly jumped in and scooped him up without missing a beat. His quick reaction time kept our son safe and unfazed; he set him right back on the side of the pool and class continued. I credit his swiftness and calm response to our son not being fearful after the incident. I’ve always noticed that the lifeguards are constantly scanning the water and making eye contact with the kids throughout their lesson so they seem to be fully aware of where the kids are at all times. We took baby classes; took a break and are now in Junior 2. Our son has zero fear of the water and has gained so much confidence in the pool. At 3.5 years old he can doggy paddle, kick well, float on his back and climb out of the pool. He’s now working on increasing his distance and getting his arms out further to pull the water. All of the instructors and lifeguards are wonderful!

Both of our girls have had class with Miss Ella (Junior 1 and Mini 3) and loved their time with her. Our younger also had Miss Avery for Mini 2 and really enjoyed her time with her as well. She still enjoys getting to say hi to Miss Avery walking by on the way to her new class. I just recently signed my youngest daughter up for swim lessons here. My oldest went here as well. There are many things I love about this swim school. The pool water is warm, the "waiting area" is big and comfortable to watch your kids swim, and the instructors really seem to work well with all kids. The only thing I wish was different was the swim lesson time, it's only 30 mins but your child isn't swimming those 30 mins. There are usually 2-3 other kids during that time, too. So the instructors take 1 kid at a time up and down the lanes practicing. I would say active swimming for my daughter was around 10 mins. Still would highly recommend.

Terrible experience and would recommend any other swim company but this one because of its lack of diversity and inclusion. Saw my friend's child with special needs turned away and told that he wasn't allowed to come back because of two minor rule breaking instances. Basically he touched one of the toys before the instructor told him he could and stood up one time when he wasn't supposed to... there was no grace given or second chances, only a "you aren't allowed back". Awful way to uplift the special needs community. So if your son or daughter needs a little more patience or guidance, this swim school is definitely not for your family. My children do not have special needs but who would ever want to support a company like this? Not me. Never.

FYI they make it super easy to just sign up online. But to cancel? Nope. To cancel I have to go in and fill out a form, and then I'm still on the hook for another 30 days. It was "in the agreement that I signed". Great, thanks. We were planning to just cancel for the summer and come back in the fall but we won't be back. And to be honest, I think it's overpriced for what it is. The kids get a turn swimming with the instructor at most 10 times per session, if that. That half hour is over in no time because part of it is spent walking them in, then getting situated in the pool which includes some talking, then there's the "swim time", then a short recap, and then they're done.

Some kids love this, my three year old did not. She made it through about three classes and her reaction got progressively worse each time, reaching fear and panic in the last class.

Months later and I’ve had to work hard to persuade her to go to a pool with me. She wouldn’t let go of my hand while swimming with her puddle jumper or go underwater. This is a kid who, while wearing her puddle jumper, used to jump in and swim happily by herself. I’m sure she’ll get her confidence back, but it’s going be to take some time.

Not saying it’s a bad school, just saying that it’s not a fit for all kids and parents should be aware. I personally was a little underwhelmed by the format of the classes and the teacher, but to each his own. I will say that when my girl clearly hated it, the staff let us quit without the typical months notice, so that was appreciated. The place seemed clean. The staff was friendly.

Open swim is a nice to offer the community but Goldfish does a poor job running it. It is so overcrowded lately. I don't feel that it is safe for children to swim with the number of people allowed in. I lost count of how many times I was hit in the head by a foam floating cut out or the canoe. How can the lifeguards watch everybody with large foam floating toys obstructing their view? Little children are not required to wear life jackets here which makes things even more scary. What also bothered me were the number of people taking pictures with no one stopping them. I never gave my permission for strangers to take pictures of my children in bathing suits!

Why not extend the 1 hour open swim to 3 hours so they don't have 100 people coming at once. Or offer more sessions of open swim. It's not worth the $10 a person. I'm actually shocked at what's allowed; It's a huge liability for them.

My daughter had started out essentially not knowing how to swim at all to now begging to swim all the time. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and caring. They gently push to advance my child at her pace. There is strong encouragement at all levels. My daughter loves this swim school. She's 9 months and has been going since 6 months and she's already learned so much :) never once has she cried due to the teachers, lesson, or pool itself. They make it very comfortable for Littles. I've also seen other kids cry (older kids afraid of the water) and the instructors do their best to comfort them. They also shock the pool a whole day If any accidents happen which takes the guess work out of whether its a safe day to go or not. only thing I would change Is more opportunities for open swims and maybe not cutting lessons short by 5 minutes, but the tight schedule is good for structure

We've been taking lessons here since my daughter was 5 months old and it's been great. They have a very friendly and helpful staff and great swim instructors too. When my daughter's progress stalled, the staff and teachers really worked with her to find the teaching method that clicked and helped her to start progressing again. The all-year round, weekly lessons make it an easy way to keep her swimming skills fresh, and the family swim timeslots give us something fun to do all year long when the weather is bad outside. They also sell swimming suits, towels and goggles, so if you forget your swim bag, no worries! They also sell a small selection of drinks and snacks to help when the kiddos are hungry after their swim lesson.

I just watched my five year old son nearly drown during the first two minutes of his first jump start lesson today. He has taken lessons here before but not since last summer. He was alone on the ledge while his teacher, Miss Grace, attended to other students. He either slipped or willingly went off the edge, but he doesn’t yet know how to swim. The lifeguard, Eli, did not notice. The 22 year old supervisor, Cole, was also on the pool deck, but did not notice. None of the other teachers noticed. My son struggled and was absolutely under water. When I noticed, I ran from my seat and jumped in the water to save him myself. This is unacceptable and I urge every parent that is considering this Goldfish location to go elsewhere. For anyone who ignores this warning, please, please watch your own child at all times.

Hands down the BEST lessons we have ever done. I think my kids learn twice as fast here compared to doing swim lessons at the Rec center. The instructors are very personalized for each lesson and the kids progress quickly. I highly recommend this place. Not to mention having a warm pool that no one complains about is amazing too .

We started at Goldfish when my son was 4 months old and couldn't have asked for a better experience! Not only has he developed a love for the water but he has also learned about how to swim safely! We have had amazing teachers that he is excited to see every week!

Even during the scarier times of Covid - I have always felt like the facility was clean and the faculty was respectful of our space! And the change rooms & restrooms are always well taken care of! I recommend swim classes to all of my friends & will continue to do so!

Was supposed to get my kids signed up for swim lessons Here. Spoke with Addison she was very rude and had no understanding of the situation that was going on. Had a family member set up an account for me and they wanted to charge my card and my relatives the pools were not very clean and it made no sense for me to return my kids here. I hope the owner reads this message and sees what kind of employees he has working here was really looking forward to try to work something out with them regardless of the pool situation.

My child has learned to be such a confident swimmer. I am so happy to see his confidence be it a pool or lake. He is not afraid when he is in able to touch the bottom! Goldfish Clarkston has a great staff and environment! I always recommend to my friends, family and others starting their kids at Goldfish, not just for the education, but the life skilled the kids will achieve.

We’ve been taking our 11 month baby to Goldfish in Clarkston since he was 5 months old, and we are AMAZED at the progress he’s made in the past 6 months. The basic safety/survival skills that they teach SO well, gives me peace of mind that my baby will know what to do in an emergency situation. I would definitely recommend signing your kids up for these potentially life saving lessons!

Goldfish Swim School - Clarkston has been such an important part of my kids life. Not only have they have learned water safety skills and how to swim but they have also gained so much confidence! You can’t put a price on safety. Swimming is a skill every child should learn and excel at- if not for leisure / sport, at least for safety. Bonus- the kids LOVE it! Warm water , fun times and smiling faces! Gold fish is great!
