I can’t recommend this gym enough for anyone in the 55-80 age range looking to stay active, healthy, and confident in their fitness journey. The owner, who is also the trainer, truly understands the needs of older adults and creates a welcoming, supportive environment where you never feel out of place.
Al is outstanding. He takes the time to learn about your history, strengths and limitations. Every workout includes modifications that make exercises both safe and effective, so you always feel challenged but never overwhelmed. Whether it’s adjusting movements for joint comfort, focusing on balance, or building strength at a pace that works for you, he tailors everything to your individual needs.
What I appreciate most is that the emphasis isn’t just on exercise, but on long-term wellness, independence and confidence.

I’ve been training with Al for nearly 20 years! I initially sought a trainer that could help by showing me alterations to avoid the cycle of injury/rest, injury/rest, and haven’t left. He’s a very knowledgeable trainer and will be there to correct form and push you to be your best! The environment in the gym is incomparable. The inspiration and camaraderie the more intimate gym provides is something you’ll never find at a big box gym! I call it my gym family, and it truly feels that way! HTS is a great place to workout! I have been at this gym for around 2 years now. Al is a wealth of knowledge for any type exercise you want to do. He helps with modifications if you can’t quite do an exercise, but will also push you to more advanced movements if he thinks you are taking it “too easy”. I highly recommend!

Best decision I ever made during COVID! I always went to a bigger box gym before I met Al and decided to give HTS a try. HTS has changed my life. Al is not only a dedicated trainer but he is also a wealth of knowledge when it comes to exercise and nutrition. He will help you find the results you are looking for (as long as you're willing to put in the hard work)! Before attending HTS, I've worked out for a couple of years at a gym on my own and was what I thought to be pretty in shape but was never able to tone up. After just a couple of months working with Al, I noticed a huge difference. His workouts are challenging yet rewarding and every day is something different which makes it fun. I started training at HTS 4 years ago, never worked out at a gym before, but my husband convinced me to try it. It was a great experience. The workouts were challenging and I got great support from Al when I was clueless on what I was doing (and that was often!). He helped me each step of the way. Sue’s coaching on proper nutrition was a game changer. Her classes on eating properly were very helpful. I quickly learned, it is all part of the package – eating well and exercise. The clients there quickly become friends and family to me. There are many laughs at every workout. I lost weight and became much stronger than I have ever been.
Then life changed and we moved to Kansas, I lost my way, gained weight and could not figure out how to get back to where I was. Traveling for my job was a new normal for me. I talked to Al and he came up with a remote training plan for me! I could not be happier! He sends me workouts, we chat almost every day. Food goals is a daily reminder for me. He helps me when I am struggling and pushes me even though he is hundreds of miles away. When I am back in Michigan, I train with my old friends at the gym. I am almost to my goal and it wouldn’t have happened without Al’s support.

Since starting 3 weeks ago (4 mo postpartum) I am down 2 inches all over! (3 in some areas!) al, Alyx, and Terri are absolutely amazing! They tailor the workouts to my needs/goals and to accommodate my occasionally bum knee. It’s a great place to come and full of amazing and inspiring people! When I first started training with Health Targeted Solutions I could barely walk. I had herniated L5 and S1. I had a 30% chance surgery would work. The pain was mind-numbing and rendering me unable to function normally. A friend recommended Al Stockwell and Health Targeted Solutions. Al tailored my workouts to help build a solid foundation to support my spine. I worked out for 2 weeks, had one epidural shot and went back to training with Al. In 30 days when I went back for my 2nd epidural shot they said I was so improved that I did not need it. Over the following few months we continued to work on form and consistency.
Sue at HTS educated and coached me on proper nutrition and daily diet requirements. Soon after everything begin to change. I was dropping the weight, I had TONS of energy and confidence and one day I realized that pain was not a part of my daily life. I did not even think about it anymore!

HTS takes all of the guesswork out of your workout. Each workout is prepared for you, listing the number of reps and rounds. Plus, the trainers are there to answer any questions and show proper technique.

I have been going to HTS for almost a year now, and I can’t believe what a difference that year has made. I went in thinking this was going to be just another run of the mill gym membership, but now I know that it is so much more than that. I used to get winded just going on walks with my husband and dog, but now I’m running over a mile at a time and working on going farther every day. This is not just a gym, it’s a place where you can feel safe from ridicule if you are overweight, out of shape, or sweat excessively like I do. Everyone here has been so supportive of my journey so far, and they give me the motivation to not only go to the gym, but enjoy it immensely as well. Al, Terri, Alyx and Jessica are amazing trainers who work with you to show you what workouts to do, how to do them to make sure you are doing them correctly, and they tell you how many times to do them. I’ve had at least 5 or 6 gym memberships in my day, but I always ended up paying for them and quitting after a few months. I didn’t know what I was doing and had no accountability if I didn’t want to go. At HTS there are “no excuses” as the sign above the door says, they make sure you reach your goals.
