I visited while in town from Alabama. I joined the cardio tennis class and had individual lessons as well. I had a blast!! The facility is super clean, everyone is so friendly and helpful, and the group I played tennis with was wonderful. I’ll definitely be returning!

It would have been nice to know that you closed the roads to get into the health club. I've added my name to the text notification 3 times and had no idea how to navigate my way here this morning.

Out of the 6 basketball rims maybe 2… are actually level. Been at the facility 15yrs and it is simply getting worse and worse. For 114$ per month id like the equipment to be usable.

Used to be the best facility in the county by a mile…

Everything is great, however I wish they'd have an additional pool that is for free swim only. Every time I attempt to take my kids to the pools, there is only a small section to swim in the MIDDLE of the pool due to private lessons and classes.
A lot of amenities, however it can get busy in the evenings and its not clear when the basketball courts will be open for free play due to classes and volleyball.
One downside is they have A LOT of outside classes/camps going on, reserving of the kid gym, and private lessons. My two kids and I were kicked out of the children's gym by one of their trainers one evening because the entire gym was rented for a private lesson with 2 kids. I later complained and was told it wasn't rented at that time.
Locker rooms are a little outdated as far as aesthetic and decor when compared to a gym like Lifetime, but generally always clean, aside from a giant blood stain that was on one of the shower curtains in the family lockers.
Teens hang out at the weight machines often on their phones.
Tennis court area in the summer time is beyond hot, you can overheat in there easily. Need to install ceiling fans and/or up the AC in summer, I don’t look forward to exercising in the summer here.
I love the virtual room that you can reserve for a more private fitness environment.
The cafe has really tasty wraps, heaping salads, and entrees of the day are satisfying.
Could use some expansion over all - otherwise fine experience.
If there was a Lifetime fitness closer, I would switch in a heartbeat.

I have been a member for 15 years. It’s time to address the men’s locker room. Fix and update. Also owner responds to the 5 star reviews. I own multiple businesses. I respond more to the bad reviews. Look at all the reviews, they are all the same. Fix and update. And respond to your loyal members. Management needs to be addressed.

For approximately a year now I’ve been trying to get staff to address the terrible condition in the men’s bathroom They have holes in the Rugs. They have worn out ceramic in the urinals and the most annoying thing for the last year is they cannot get rid of these small drain flies that fly around your head while you’re in a 3 x 3‘ shower enclosure.
The tennis area has not had heat for the last two months now
Unfortunately, this place is really starting to go downhill

The problem here seems to be management. Problems with the pool area since at least August. This morning the venting system wasn’t working and hadn’t been working since the night before. An employee told me that management knew about this. Improper ventilation is a problem for members and employees. No MOD until 6 either. Was told he was the only of two “state licensed” person that could close the pool. Pool area is poorly managed. Lifeguards are left having to explain things that they have no control over. Poor temp, bad chemical levels, smell, improper ventilation, dirty pools. I’m aware that I’m just one member and they don’t care if one person leaves but I want this to get better. This place has been better. I’m trying to have patience.

Don’t waste your time and money if you have a job and plan to use the pool. Personal trainers don’t do nights and weekends and now they have blocked off all lanes of the pool on Tuesday and Thursday evenings for some outside club to come in and use the pool. I learned this after checking the schedule that says they are only supposed to be there from 5-5:30 in 2-4 lanes and after I added my husband to my account so he could help me with my lap swimming. Now I’m stuck for 9 more months or have to pay a $299 cancellation fee for a membership at a gym that does not work for me. If you are employed and work a 9-5 and want to use the pool, do not come here.

I attended ascension Genesys for a swim aerobics/aqua therapy class. This was suggested to me after i shattered my left leg at the trampoline park. i absolutely loved the class! The pool was warm and the class instructor was wonderful! I miss it very much. But there were a few things...

So we are no longer allowed to just attend the class. We have to have a monthly membership now which i can't commit to living about 40 minutes away. I would totally understand if they raised the cost of the class but requiring a membership for people to come once a week for 1 hour is crazy.

I did notice they need another pool. I wouldn't pay that much for a monthly membership where i can't go swim around leisurely and enjoy myself. I think the cost is far too high for what they offer, at least it is for someone like me who can only exercise in the water.

Many things are good about this club, and I have been a member for most of the last 25 years, but getting someone to return a call is not possible . I was amazed even membership message is: we will return your call in 24-48 hours! I asked about sabbatical and it must be done one way. Not an easy way but one that’s hard. I asked for a confirmation call. Nothing. An event earlier has met with total gaslighting. I tipped an instructor for his exceptional instruction….in a sealed envelope. The envelope came up missing and no return call or email. Who is managing the store?

Consistently on Top 100 Health Clubs in the U.S. lists Genesys is the highest quality gym in the area. They have a large facility with basketball courts, pool area, tennis, pickleball, and or course plenty of weights/workout equipment. They have one of the only cold plunge's in the area, which is my favorite part of the experience.

Signed my daughter and I up for parent and tot swim.
The parking is awful so you will have to carry your wet haired baby to the car in the cold.
There’s also only 4 changing rooms for the entire family area. For a child who can’t stand on her own, and being a single mom … it is just not something we can do. I only attended one class due to the major inconveniences.
The actual class itself is fun for them! The chlorine in the pool will burn your eyes from being so strong

This is a nice club. It has alot of different things you can do. However, if you want to use the weight room between 4:00pm and 7:30pm, during the week, the weight room does not have enough space or equipment to a accomodate the number of members using it. In addition, 80% of the members that are using it during that time are teenagers that are socializing and working out in groups of 3 to 4. So if you need to use a piece of equipment they are using, you could be waiting a long time. Makes for a frustrating workout. Also, the Cafe doesn't have good food like they did prior to Covid. Hoping to see improvements.

Just because COVID happened 3 years ago doesn’t mean you can never close at 10 PM ever again. Nothing is making this place close at 9, yet they still do. Also, showers and locker rooms are open until 9:30, but you can’t use the gym until 9:30. Even back before COVID this rule didn’t make sense. As long as everyone is out at closing time, why does it matter if I’m showering or playing pickleball for the extra 30 minutes? Benefits are that it’s a great facility, tennis courts are free with a membership, and there’s pretty much something to do for everyone. However, I have had a lot of problems at this place within the 11 years I’ve been a member, some of my own doing, some definitely not of my own doing. Most of that is in the past, and now my biggest gripe is the hours. Close at 10 again and I’ll change my review. No excuse anymore.

I was a member for the last 2-3 years. It was a very frustrating process. I was regularly over billed. I paid a fee up front because I did not know they had a special promotion and the staff took the fee from me. I had to make a special trip during business hours to have the special promotion applied to my account. The office people reminded me I could cancel anytime and they would charge me the regular start up fee. It seemed like they were daring me, but I needed the facility in winter so I could be active when weather is cold. I enjoy tennis and it is how I stay active. Sadly the club does not understand how vital they are to the community enough to be fair with members.

During Covid I did not feel comfortable using the facility and did not after covid because they changed their hours and it did not fit my schedule. I was still paying them to freeze my account, but they would only do it for so many months before they put me back to active. I did not contact them soon enough so they put me back to active for a month before I could get my account back on freeze. They would not hear that I did not plan on using the facility since I liked to use the facility late evenings. I was trying to determine if I could work with the new schedule since I primarily use the facility during the winter for Tennis.

The end of my membership happened when my auto billing did not go through and I did not make my freeze payment 2 months and the active month. I was not using the facility and put off taking care of the bill.

They indicated they sent me a final bill which they may have, but I did not recall getting it. I told them I would pay the balance and wanted to keep the membership, but they had sent me over to a collection agency already (that is how I found out my membership was cancelled). They charged me the $299 cancellation fee on top of my current bill of $249 and now the collection agency added on a fee and I owe $660. So my bill more than doubled.

If you are looking for an indoor tennis facility Davison has a better setup with more leagues and a great guy running it. Save yourself the hassle of being over-billed (hard to catch when you auto pay), unforgiving staff who are cold and not responsive. This is a facility with no idea about how to treat tennis players and maybe other members.

I see where they have responded to other complaints, but not to this one. It shows me they just don’t get it.

I went to this gym for two years. Staff was always friendly and helpful. Unfortunately due to covid closures and high membership prices I had to move gyms. Yesterday I went back into a gym I had previously loved to ask a few questions. Instead of answering my questions the two women in the membership office just kept repeating their covid policies to me. After rephrasing and repeating myself multiple times and by then the blonde lady is talking about the hospital's policies (meanwhile, I'm asking about membership) I gave up and left without any of my questions answered. Both women were incredibly rude acting as if they didn't have the time to be bothered. Guess I will be sticking with my new gym when the state opens back up. I would recommend employing staff that knows about membership in the membership office-not just covid.

I would never recommend this facility to anyone. The gym is really nice however I have not used my membership since Covid broke out. I have had 2 very close members of mine family pass away due to covid. My mother being one and she lived with me and paid half the bills. Now I'm struggling to help my sons that have lost their jobs due to covid. They are not being considerate at all only satying I'm not going to argue with you. I'm not trying to argue I'm trying to get someone to listen and maybe if you dropped your prices right now to help maybe then people could keep their membership but it just to high for me at this time. So I get told they will send me to collections when I tried to explain the situation. Do not buy a expensive membership from this facility because they do not care once you can not pay no more they just want money. Unfortunately I was not thinking about a gym membership while I lost my mother and sister and am severely depressed because now I'm a mother to my sisters kids and can not afford a gym membership when I'm trying to take care of 7 children and have no help. To be told we are all suffering wow ok.

I used to love this gym a lot. And I mean a lot! I still do. But their new employees are pretty rude, constantly getting put on hold when I call and usually I have a very simple question to ask that normally would take almost only a minimum of 2 seconds to answer. Instead they’d rather place me on hold for 5 minutes for a general question to be answered. May not be inconvenient for them but it is for me when I am in a hurry and trying to figure something out. Now they are losing money because I wanted to come buy a gym bag, but I was unsure if they had any. Unfortunately for them I won’t come and waste my time and buy a gym bag since I have to be placed on hold by Natalie every single time I call. Still love the gym itself but the new employees I could go without.

We opened our family membership there at the very end of December last year. We have six kids and pay a pretty large membership fee compared to other gyms. We really enjoyed going there for 2 months until COVID happened.

I called to cancel our membership today as we A.) are not comfortable going to a place where we may potentially be at more risk for exposure to COVID (especially considering that a majority of the clients are staff at the HOSPITAL it is a part of) and we also don't want to potentially expose anyone, as we have had COVID in our own household and the households of my ex husband AND my fiancees ex-wife. I have 2 children with disabilities who are also more susceptible to contracting. We have lost wages, had to take time off of work, had additional medical bills and B.) Had to move and no longer live in the area.

When I spoke to Lorraine in their membership office and let her know the situation and what we would like, she informed me that if I wanted to cancel it was going to be a $300 cancellation fee and that our contract was for 12 months and since COVID, the membership that was initially supposed to end in December would be extended another FIVE MONTHS. This is BEYOND ridiculous. She was also quite rude, not compassionate and was snotty in a matter of fact tone. They abide by their "contract" but can amend it and extend it however they see fit?! I am so upset right now that they would even WANT us to come back there KNOWING that we have had COVID in our house and potentially expose other patrons there. We are not only trying to protect ourselves but also protect others! We should be able to end our contract due to this reason ALONG with the fact that we had to move out of the area. I appalled by the ZERO compassion or concern for their membership and I'm also appalled by their lack of goodwill in unprecedented times. If I would have known that a global pandemic was looming when I signed us up, I most definitely would not have done it...but NO ONE expected it to happen and everyone has dealt with the situation in a different way and has been affected differently and clearly the management at Ascension Genesys doesn't care and is only concerned about gouging people with fees and extending contracts beyond their timeframe.

*Edit - I was just contacted by Lorraine again and they said they would not charge the cancellation fee. She was completely rude and basically made it out like I was threatening to bring COVID into the building, which I did not. I told her prior that I couldn't believe they would WANT patrons to come in who had it in their homes. I'm glad they are not charging the fee but still disgusted that it came to this and that I was treated so rudely and unprofessionally. Still don't recommend.

This is the only club I am associated with since my return to Michigan, over 15 years ago! Love the club! Love the classes & people! I frequent the Kaiser spin classes. This particular morning, before Covid-19 I was in the class where they announce the bikes sales to take place but didn’t know when. I expressed an interest in purchasing a bike. I faithfully attend the classes. Harry was in Miami just before Covid-19 when the announcement was made.
I went to the “closed” gym and was told ALL the bikes were sold.
It’s very disappointing that I expressed an interest to Maranda, I would like to purchase a bike. I wasn’t given any consideration to get a bike; how did that happen?
I FELT that I should have been given that opportunity to purchase a bike. This is very disappointing to me and my husband does not know how this happened.

Caleb Hite deserves a raise. I've never seen someone bring such passion to folding towels.
I love getting my pump on there. With a clean, folded towel waiting for me after thanks to Mr. Hite.

Genesys Athletic Club is a very clean facility with very friendly staff. They have personal trainers that push you while encouraging you. It is a great gym filled with any kind of workout equipment that you could imagine.

An awesome gym! Always clean, most of the staff bends over backwards to make you feel welcome. The gym is busy but you can still find equipment to use, unlike other gyms I have been to that you have to wait just to get on anything. I find it to be a bit expensive for me but if you have to money it is well worth it. I also have a hard time with my work schedule making it to some of the classes. The classes are great though.
