Spectacular event at Lake Forest Golf Club! We held our 50th Pioneer High reunion and welcomed over 150 guests! I served as the Venue Chair and worked closely with Karen (Edman), event planner. It was fantastic working closely with Karen and Gilda (Johnson) the owner. Karen always gave prompt responses (email and phone) for my questions and requests. It was wonderful to learn Karen is also a Pioneer grad and served on her 50th class reunion. She was very knowledgeable, helpful and offered excellent advice throughout the planning period. we booked our date two years in advance and appreciated the "insurance" of the refundable deposit. Everyone loved the space--bar area, buffet, table layout and patio--we used every inch of it! The food was delicious and really fed our hungry crowd from appetizers to dessert. We were thrilled Lake Forest allowed our own purchased cake to complement the desserts we ordered. The rent and food and beverage minimum were generous and allowed our committee to book this beautiful space. This is our second successful event at Lake Forest and we look forward to our next big event!

Planned a work dinner for 65 ppl at Lake Forest Golf Club. From working with Karen, my event planner, the chef who made AMAZING food (I highly recommend the strolling stations), to Matt who helped us with whatever we needed that night, and the amazing servers Flynn and Jill (iykyk) the experience was spot on.
We had the most beautiful night. The doors from the banquet room fully open to the portion of the deck we had under a pergola. There are couches, blankets and fire tables out there.

I really enjoy golfing at Lake Forest, it’s a wonderful course and a great place to introduce friends too. The greens are well maintained and they have been making improvements to the course throughout the seasons. The back nine is slightly more challenging, which keeps it fun!

In addition to being a great golf experience, the clubhouse and restaurant is lovely! The staff in the club house is very attentive and kind, I’m always impressed by the food which definitely goes above and beyond the typical golf course menu. The outdoor patio is HUGE with open air covered pergola area and nice electric fire pits, it has made this one of my favorite places to golf then dine or lounge for drinks!

They also get bonus points for having insane sunsets. Definitely recommend!

One of the best courses to play a round with friends and family! The back 9 can be challenging greens which makes it all the more fun! Very well maintained and ran throughout the season. Also, the staff is so welcoming and kind, and the new patio is great!

Love grabbing a drink after at the Ellsworth and having their yummy potato salad! They even offer guests sherpa blankets to sit around the fire pits on cool nice, such nice little details throughout that makes it a wonderful experience from golfing to post golfing!

I play golf here several times a week for a reason. It's a beautiful piece of land, the course is in good shape and getting even better. It's challenging and fun, and the deck, lawn, food/bev, frequent live music, & sunsets can cap off a day perfectly. The leagues are full and have longevity. People keep returning for golf and/or to dine/special events/etc. That may mean more than any individual review.

It's not yet perfect, but I'm proud to call Lake Forest my home course.

Can’t speak to the restaurant or cornhole stadium, but golf course is horribly overpriced. Weekday sr rate $48 for an average mediocre public course layout.

Bunkers were muddy, not raked or groomed. Tee boxes are not level. Cart paths are a mess. Greens were OK.

Parking lot is a crumbling disaster.

None ofthe repairs they have talked about have been implemented.

First time writing the review while having the membership for more than 10 years. I think that the course needs to repair bunkers. Sands in the bunkers in almost every hole is so hard like concrete. If you swing hard, the sand will bounce your club like you hitting the concrete and would most likely to hit a home run ball (most likely to lose your ball in many holes). Even, I am really afraid to hurt myself when i hit the ball on sand in almost every bunker in every hole. Bunker condition is as bad as the very inexpensive public course in Ann Arbor. Bunkers in this course has been like this for multiple years making me feel to conclude the membership. Anyways, if you are the course manager who is reading this review, pls repair the sand... pls.... and pls... I thought this course was challenging (good) and very well maintained for many years....the green condition is still good but bunkers is extremely bad.... we are not only play on green... again, i am really afraid of hurting myself when i hit the ball on sand.

We had my daughter’s wedding shower at Lake Forest. Everything was wonderful! The staff was so helpful and nice! The food was great and fresh! We had a mimosa bar with several types of juices and fresh fruits which everyone enjoyed! Thank you Gilda and Karen for making our event so special!!

I give two stars because price… this course is not worth their rates… at most its a $50 course the cart paths are garbage of one hole they redesigned a year ago isn't even finished… the tee boxes are garbage and not even level for half the holes. Save your money… its obviously overrated on its reviews… now the people who work there are very nice and good people and most fairways are well kept… but still not worth the price.

The best hospitality i’ve ever experienced from any course in SE Michigan. Misbooked my tee time and gave the courtesy of still squeezing us in. Starter Tim was on top of it all and made sure everything ran smooth. Course was in immaculate condition greens ran fast and true. We went for the Christmas brunch and absolutely loved it. Amazing atmosphere, food, and drinks. Shawn was a great host/server and was very personable. There was even a crafts table my 2 year old loved. 10/10 experience and I hope there will be more events like this over the different seasons! Let me start by saying I rarely ever complain about something, with my bootcamp background I’ve learned to shutup & take it. But today I felt like it was an obligation to leave a review for the sake of anyone else in the community for the future. Everyone that golfs here is just rude/snobby & the staff is horrendous. It’s sad because the owner was a sweetheart & she tried her best to resolve the conflict but her workers want to constantly seem like they run the show & are so hungry for some power. I was ready to just pack up & leave I didn’t even care about the $160 golf fee because it means nothing to me but my girlfriend insisted I go up & get a refund.

T-Time was 12:44 I was assigned to hole 1, when we got started we carted over there & I sat & waited for 2 gentlemen to finish off hole 1 in my golf cart for about 15 or so minutes, they completed & carried on, as soon as I took my first swing 7 minutes into our game a man I think by the name of Bob came along guns hot in his golf cart, parked right in front of my face & told me to “step it up, I can’t have you holding up the other golfers, get a move on” & as soon as I was trying to explain to him we were patiently waiting for other players he zoomed away & punched it, which was absolutely ridiculous & highly disrespectful, no customer at any establishment should be treated that way. A few other snobby kids from the area came up to me & told me I need to “be done with each whole in under 10 minutes” as if I don’t know what I’m doing, this was about 10 minutes into my hole & then another ranger came along & before he could even say anything I looked him in the face & said you know what little guy, me & my lady were just leaving.

SAVE YOUR MONEY, PAY THE EXTRA $30-40+ & GO ELSE WHERE.

I’ve been working a lot this summer so golf’s been kind of scarce. So I carved out a little time to memorialize my father who passed away 25 years ago today with a round at a very nice course near where I work. (The driving range was the last thing we did together) I got online and found a very affordable rate and showed up toward the end of the night and Nate and Jody as rangers could not have been more kind and friendly when I explained to them why I kind of felt like playing by myself. They were very accommodating and even gave me tips for the course.
I don’t want you forget Colin in the pro shop who was a lifesaver with some sport tape for my ailing left wrist. This could’ve been just Insignificant visit but this is what customer service is all about. They took time to find out WHY I was there and the story meant a lot to them and we had great conversation. That touch made the entire visit all the more enjoyable! Great course, greens were beautiful. I played pretty well and I will absolutely be back. Thanks to those 3 particular individuals but everyone else that I saw during my visit was more than gracious. Thank you again!

P.S. Those membership rates are looking pretty enticing. 2025?

Rude And Condescending Starter

This morning, my wife and I had to experience a very rude starter named Charlie I believe. Since we were only playing 9 holes, we inquired about the possibility to start at #1 instead of #10 and his snapped at us in a very disrespectful way as if we were bothering him by playing at this course.
This was a repeat incident from a while ago where this same guy displayed a similar nasty attitude when I drove the cart to the end of the cart path to be close to my car in the parking lot. He barked at me from the top of his lungs “where the HELL are you going”.
It is obvious this individual lacks the civility to be a greeter and make customers feel welcome and want to come back.
There are plenty of other golf courses in the Ann Arbor area where Starters are pleasant and courteous and won’t ruin your day.
If the manager of this establishment cares about knowing the details of this incident he or she are welcome to reply with their contact information and I will be happy to inform them.

We had our daughter's HS graduation party at Lake Forest and it was great. The food was wonderful (especially the sautéed peppers and onions). Our guests had plenty of room to be inside as well as they had access to the patio. Highly recommend Lake Forest for any event that may be in your future.

They got rid of all chicken breast options except a chicken wrap in favor of burgers. Really cut the menu down. Also when you try to order a "cheaper“ league beer on the course like all day ipa, they are out and charge you 5 for a grapefruit all day ipa which comes from the same variety box- but charge a premium. I feel like they nickel and dime. Where we used to play, it was $2 a Can on leagues. At 5 for a 12 oz can in a $15/15 pack this is getting stupidly rediculous. Also, add sand to the traps. They removed all the trees from #8 which actually kept the golfers on 18 tee safe so you are shelling them, and it actually slows down play now because it is like a par 3 - everyone is going for it. Cutting down a 100 year old oak that protected the green for what reason?? These are all management decisions. Waitstaff is great.

I recently hosted my wedding in Lake Forest golf club, and I must say, it exceeded all expectations. Gilda and Amy, our hosts, were incredibly personable and ensured that our big day went off without a hitch. They went above and beyond to tailor the experience to our desires. The highlight of our day was undoubtedly the ride around the course in six golf carts provided. As for the food, our guests are still talking about the prime ribs and salmon, along with every other dish served. The venue itself was breathtaking, and the team's support ensured that our wedding vision became a reality. Their coordination with other vendors was flawless, alleviating any stress on my part.

I wholeheartedly recommend this venue for any event or celebration. In fact, my husband and I are already planning to revisit on our anniversary. While the cost may be higher, the experience is truly worth it. Every staff member surpassed our expectations, making our special day truly unforgettable.

When I first arrived, the employees in the pro shop were extremely rude and condescending. Me, and my three buddies, who all are at the Golfer’s, were scolded severely for showing up one minute before the tee time. On top of this, they explained to us that it will be a slow round as if we were children. This turned out to be very true as we waited almost 10 minutes on every tee box. Course was in decent condition, but the jam, packed tee she made the round miserable. Ann Arbor has some great golf, but I am disappointed to say that I will never be returning to this course again.

Very nice course ! Went out there to visit family and played there and the course was in beautiful shape. Very nice facility as well they have a nice very nice driving range with all grass tees, two putting greens one at the begging of hole 1 next to the club house then the other next to the driving range, and also they have a sand bunker practice area. The staff was very nice especially the starter George very nice guy he even wiped our clubs down at the end of our round. Overall great experience and an awesome layout of the course, the greens where's pure it felt like I was putting on a PGA course. Would definitely recommend to anybody and I will 100% be coming back when I'm in Michigan again.

My wife and I golf quite frequently at Lake Forest and greatly appreciate the work that Gilda  and her entire staff have done to enhance the grounds, the golfers, the restaurant, as well as the newly renovated clubhouse/deck. We cannot be more pleased with the relationship that we have built with many at the Club.
Oh yes, and by the way …the course and practice facilities are second to none. “Scotland-style links” on the front 9 and the beautifully wooded serene views of the back 9.

She invited me back and I felt encouraged that this was a one time mistake. Once I’m able to enjoy a round of golf I’m hoping I can leave a 5 star review.

Honestly what a horrible experience. I arrived around 6:40pm for my 7:20 tee time. I wanted to sit at the bar and enjoy a drink and something to eat before heading out. The bartender made me get up and walk around to where the machine was to run my card instead of allowing me to sit and enjoy my overpriced drink. I then went to check in for my tee time and was told I wouldn’t be able to golf it because it would be too late. They have league times that would get in the way of me finishing before dark. When I booked online there were numerous tee times available around the same time. If you know in advance of these league times maybe you should remove tee times that won’t allow people to actually golf. The gentleman at the counter was rude and didn’t even issue my refund. He said he had things to do and would process it later, he walked away while talking on the phone. Definitely not returning. The worst experience at a golf course I’ve ever had

Called and was quoted one price git there and it was higher. Course has a nice layout but you have to be 3or under hcdp to have a chance at a good score. Definitely a course for the extremely good golfers. Not for the average golfer

We held two family events here over the past 2 years and have been very happy. Buffet dinner for 30-40 people, dancing, and everyone had such a fun time. We got great feedback from our guests. The staff was very helpful with all kinds of details and made the evening go smoothly. We will be back again when we have another event to plan.

$45 to play a round and only one guy running the clubhouse. Didn't want to wait 45 minutes for a soda so I played the round without anything to drink. Hire staff that can function and service your guest.

The greens were a disaster today. I love this place and have been playing it several times per year for a long time. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because i know they'll get it together soon. Be ready for some 3 putts!

This course is in Ann Arbor but is on the outskirts and is a little gem. The course was in great shape and the greens were fast. I look forward to playing there again!

Course is challenging, but not so challenging that you become frustrated. Well maintained even with ongoing rearrangement of holes. All the staff I interacted with were super nice and very courteous. I plan on playing the course again.

If you beat the leagues of the first tee it's a fun, pretty easy course with a few unique holes. Beer and liqueur is fairly over priced and food options are decent. Overall good course for the weekend warrior.

Great way to spend a Friday night. With all our rain the course was in great shape. Staff was friendly and we enjoyed a burger from the grill and the US Open after our round. Think I will repeat this soon.

Perfect place to have a outing. We had our Skilled Trades outing here last week and we were blown away at how nice the course played. The food was unbelievable steak and chicken done perfect. The staff here will go out of their way to help you with your outing. I would like to thank Jenny and Brad for helping with the golf and Gilda and team for the outstanding food service. I hope we come back next year...Thanks Lake Forest.
