The workers seemed nice, but the gym itself sucks. There are no private showers, so if you want to clean up after a workout you either have to forgo any sense of privacy or just wash your pits with water from the sink. The cardio gym is separate from the weight lifting gym, why? Also all their weight lifting stuff is outdated. There are a lot of creepy men, one of them was stretching in a doorway and catcalled me as I walked past when I was trying to find the cardio gym. I was also informed that there have been a lot of car break-ins in the parking lot.

Just avoid, I'm never coming back to this one.

I have a membership in this place and I canceled it because the supervisors in the pool treat people very badly, even with children. It was a bad experience, even my daughter didn’t want to go there because there is a supervisor in the pool who treats people and children in a bad way. If a child makes a mistake by running or jumping, you should tell him respectfully and not by shouting at him. My daughter started to hate going there and seeing this man with bad manners. The management should fire this bad person. It is one of the worst experiences and you should pay attention to the cleanliness of the place and the employees should be friendly with the children and not shouting.

I love the pool here, and the private family showers. My only complaint is that the pool closes at 7 every night. It doesn't give much of a chance for people who have to work all day to be able to enjoy the pool. Forget weekends unless you want to be up at 7:00 in the morning swim

The staff here is the friendliest of the Lansing branches. The (women’s) locker area is clean. The showers are the hottest with the most pressure of the branches as well. I appreciate the big windows in the pool and spa area, as well as the wide side lanes for pool workouts. There is always upbeat music in the pool area too, which is a nice plus. Shout out to Rosa’s excellent Thursday night aerobics and my fellow classmates!

I was a member for a long time and so were 7 of my friends that I introduced to the Y. Early on it was great. We all enjoyed it but over time things just deteriorated. Staff has become toxic and not really as friendly as it was before. The basketball court and pool times availability is all over the place. The biggest thing is that they began raising prices. The price is just absolutely not worth it at this point. They should be ashamed for charging people so much. So in the end me and all of my friends canceled our memberships and left.

I will share the screen shots of what a nightmare this place is. People swearing on the courts screaming, pool open 2 hours a week for the kids, broken machines, impossible to get a refund. The employees act like it honestly is their last dollar. I have been told multiple things on where my refund checkmis, all lies to where I had to file with the ceo. Avoid oak park ymca it is a shady dump.

Their rules state: "Ages 13+ may join as individuals, however, youth 13–17 must have a parent or legal guardian sign the membership agreement and waiver." I just started working out here and the staff is amazing and super friendly! The only complaint that I have is that the men’s locker room provides more amenities than the women’s. Men’s locker room has a sauna, steam room, fan, and a digital scale. The women’s locker room only has a sauna and an old out dated manual scale that goes 3 pounds either way so it’s hard to track your weight loss/gain. For instance I can weigh myself and it will stay leveled out if I take away or add 3 pounds. It is very difficult to breathe in the women’s locker room because there are no fans and all the humidity from the pool and showers makes me feel like I’m suffocating after working out. If this was my gym, I’d make sure that the amenities are the same in the male and female locker rooms. Everyone pays to be at your establishment, therefore everybody should be able to have equal amenities. If not, maybe the female members should pay less for their memberships.

Their gym is fine enough, but strongly strongly advise against enrolling children in their child care center. Leadership all the way up seems to be pretty flawed at managing a daycare. In October 2018, the child care center abruptly closed, giving their families and staff one day notice. Families were left with no care and staff were left with no jobs. I'm still actively working to get them to refund money they owe me for overcharging for the care after their closure, 2.5 months later. I know their plans are to reopen soon in 2019, but I would not trust my child in their care again, no matter how good their teachers are. The leadership just can't get its act together.

Care was great until 2 months ago.,staff started disappearing, attendance started to slip, new director and assistant started changing how much and when payments were due. Then out of the blue, parents were told facility is shutting down and parents have 24 hour notice. While I saw they were having issues, we were given promises that things were getting better. Now parents are scrambling to find care or lose thier jobs because management couldn't communicate with the parents.

I was originally super impressed with the Oak Park YMCA's day care, but my feelings have recently changed. Over the past month or so, there was change in management that happened overnight without much notice. Additionally, the staff started to change and my wife and I were no longer familiar with who was caring for our child and this was reflected in his daily report. For example, there was inaccurate information regarding his meals which was very nerve-racking due to our son's food allergies.

Yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon, the day care announced that as of Thursday afternoon, the day care would close until maybe early 2019 due to a staffing shortage. To me, this feels very fishy. I've always supported the YMCA and its work, but I'm feeling very differently now. Not only are the parents of children who attended the day care struggling to find another childcare options at very short notice, but the staff is also out of work. All I can say is that I am hurt and disappointed.

Great YMCA location! The workout room is in need of an update, but all of their equipment is in good working order, was clean, and the weight room was decently stocked with a cable machine and a lot of the fundamentals. I will note however, there was only one bench for bench press, most other YMCA's I have been to have at least two or three.
