I asked a colleague at work that was in great physical condition (even at an "advanced" age) if he could share with me his best workout exercise, and he answered β¦ itβs the one that you keep doing.
Well, after 3+ years of joining OTF at the Main Street address in Ann Arbor β¦ I think I have found my answer. OTF is more than a gym β as all the coaches are truly coaches. I appreciate their attentiveness on technique, motivation throughout the exercises, and approachability for advice on building a healthier lifestyle.
Although we cycle through treadmill, rowing, and weightlifting β the routines at each station are different between classes enabling muscle confusion and prevents them from becoming pedestrian.
The data speaks for itself β as through OTF I have been able to reduce my blood pressure and eliminate the need for medication to control my cholesterol levels.
It is also helpful that when I am traveling on business or on vacation, my OTF membership affords me the opportunity to attend any facility without paying an additional fee. Also, since the layout is the same across all OTF facilities, I am familiar with how to use the equipment and the exercises directed by the coaches at these other facilities.

OTF has become more than just a workout- itβs become a community! I cannot recommend OTF enough and especially the studio on Main Street Ann Arbor.
I always struggled to do workouts at the gym that challenged me and the coaches at OTF push me each day to do better- I have never been much of a runner and now itβs my favorite part of the workout! The staff at OTF Main St are incredible and make you feel at home- they go above and beyond and I look forward to seeing them. Iβve found a great group of friends through OTF :) I Cannot recommend OTF enough- itβs been truly life changing!

Look. This is easily the hardest 60 minutes of my day, and yet itβs the best 60 minutes of my day. Do I often question my life choices while working out here? Absolutely. Most of my adult life I played soccer to stay healthy/active but the injuries kept piling up and six years ago I realized I needed a new way to exercise. OTF was the answer and I just finished 1,000 classes. Great coaches, awesome front desk team (shout out John), challenging workouts in a friendly and supporting environment. OrangeTheory Fitness is an amazing, results-driven workout! The high-energy interval training, expert and friendly coaching, and heart rate tracking keep you motivated and challenged. The workouts are always fresh, and way more fun than just a gym workout. Itβs the only workout that I have been successful with my whole life. I love being under the orange lights and being challenged every month with benchmarks and signature workouts. The staff is so amazing and really try to get to know every member. Trying a class style workout can be intimidating, but no one should be intimidated or nervous to try OTF. They should just give it a try even at any level. Itβs the best gym around.

I've never been great at sticking with an exercise program, and this studio has somehow kept me coming back for nearly 10 years! It's not just a gym, it's a community and even a family. I can't say enough good things about Orangetheory Ann Arbor! I love that the only part of my workout I need to think about is when to go - they take care of the rest.
I also love the welcoming atmosphere where people of all shapes, sizes, ages, and athletic abilities come together without judgment. I love that after the workouts the coaches at this gym encourage hydration, recovery, and refueling.
The benchmark and signature workouts scheduled throughout the year are fantastic for tracking progress and pushing myself to improve. It's all about competing against my own past performance, which is super motivating.
For those who love data, the live data and post-workout reports are great (but you can ignore if you're not into numbers). I genuinely look forward to each workout session. Highly recommend this gym to anyone looking to focus on overall health in a positive, inclusive environment!

I absolutely love OTF (it has changed my life) and in particular, this studio. The coaches are all so supportive and challenge me every single class. They encourage me to push harder than I think I can at just the right time, when I'm ready to let up. The classes are never boring, and always seem to go by super quick. Updated: It is with great sadness that I have reduced my review from 5 to 3 due to things having changed a bit in the last 6 months. I didnβt want to do this because there are still many good people there who still bring joy, but the owners seem to not want to even hear feedback from their customers. I've been to 3 different OTFs over the years and this has been by far the best, all coaches are pretty good and so are the staff. In particular, the guy who was behind the desk morning of Sat 9/21 was the sweetest. I wasn't in my best mood to get his name unfortunately but I had to suddenly leave 20min after the start of the session, I was feeling unwell. And he followed me to the parking lot to make sure I was okay. He didn't have to, it was so nice of him to offer help.

Joined about 2 months ago and Iβm loving it!! Initially bought an unlimited membership at a discount. As I thought, at the age of 72 I listened to my body and realized 2 classes a week are great for me. Itβs all about the enthusiasm that the instructors bring to the class which I find amazing. I am very happy with my decision to go to Orangetheory. The workouts are super challenging and I feel like I really achieve fitness goals in the way the workouts are structured. It never feels boring because it's different every time. It's fun switching between different "stations" with the treadmill, rower, and floor exercises with weights - my favorite are the 3G workouts. I love that I don't have to think at all about what I should be doing because the coaches guide us the whole time. It's a total brain reset when I'm feeling super stressed. I love how organized the workouts are and the great variety. I don't think I've done the same workout twice since I joined in August. All the coaches have been fantastic. The cost is no more than a typical gym membership and well worth the investment in improved health and mental well being.

Jane and Joclyn were incredible at the front desk, explaining how everything worked and helping me get oriented, and then my first two classes with Alicia were *fantastic* workouts - very impressed with how workouts were run, and the individual attention from given to help on proper form. The instant feedback on heartrate zones is unlike any other workout I've tried, in the best way. Really looking forward to meeting other instructors and more of the community - such a positive space :D

I love this place. I have a hard time getting motivated on my own, so I always need group classes to really push myself. I will say the memberships are a bit pricey, but the classes are excellent and never exactly the same, the coaches give great instruction, and the atmosphere is fun. I think it's 100% worth it π

I absolutely can not say enough good things about Orange Theory and more specifically, the Ann Arbor Main St. location. On my first class (which was free!) I was warmly greeted by the front desk, they set me up with a heart rate monitor and then lead me into the room to introduce me to the coach. The coach(Kiran- sheβs super awesome btw) then set me up at my first station and explained what I should expect from the workout. Holy smokes- the workout was AMAZING!!!! Being out of the loop for over a year I was a little nervous to get back into a class to be honest. Not once did I feel left out or like I didnβt have guidance during the workout. She also explained all my stats afterwards so I understood what I was looking at on the board.
Iβve been a member for a couple months now and am still loving it every single time. My energy levels are up on a daily basis, I can see the change that I was looking for and feel like this is a great place for anyone who is brand new to working out, looking to switch up their routine or anyone in between! Itβs all very scalable which is also great. Community, cleanliness, staff, quality of workout- 12/10 across the board. Thanks for giving me a little pep in my step again after a year of being βoffβ.

I attended a class with Kiran Janjua and had the best experience! Wow. When she told me she was going to start leading her own classes at OT, I knew I had to check it out. In the past, I've been nervous about trainers being aware of my knee issues and continuing to push me into awkward lunges that ultimately leave me in pain for weeks at a time. I was honest with Kiran about my granny knees and the fact that I hadn't worked out in an embarrassingly long time. She was just wonderful! She let me choose a space in class where I felt comfortable since it was my first time being in a gym since the start of the pandemic. She checked on me after I started each rotation to make sure I was using the correct form for my knees, and her smile kept me moving! I can honestly say that one hour with Kiran gave me so much confidence, and I look forward to checking out more of her classes in the future. Although my budget doesn't allow me to become a steady member, I hope to pop in from time to time to listen to Kiran's epic playlists and get the workout of a lifetime. I love OFT! It challenges me every time I go in for my workout - about 3-4x/ week allows me to try to improve myself with every run/row/weights/floor exercises we take on for that day. The trainers are very knowledgeable, well versed and motivating/encouraging for the entire hour, which allows us as members to get the most out of the workout as we can. OTF and the staff are taking every step possible to keep their members safe. They are enforcing masks, disinfecting during & after each class while keeping everyone 6ft apart. They are offering a diversified class schedule adapting to the members and what they are requesting. They are consistently checking in and keeping an open line of communication. I just went to my first class at Orange Theory. This was an excellent experience. I definitely plan on going again this week and develop a habit of getting into better shape.
I was orginally a little skeptical. I'm not a 'gym' person. I hate running, being around other people, and having a hard time breathing. It's just overall uncomfortable. I much prefer my bed. With snacks. But I was willing to give it a try. Glad I did.
OTF changed my mind!
Right when I walked in, my name was written in a nice little welcome message right on the front desk. How sweet! Andrew and Aaron introduced themselves. They were so friendly (and stupidly handsome.) They walked me through the spiel, chit chatted a little, and filled out my paperwork. Although nervous, I wasn't actively thinking of excuses to run out the door so much.
Alicia was the instructor. There was a loooot to learn the first time around and I felt a little lost but she checked in on me occasionally and I was at least confident I wasn't the only one struggling. There were people of all ages around and it wasn't hard to catch on.
I definitely got a good work out. It was very endurance-focused. Something I am definitely uncomfortable doing, so therefore, was much needed. We were encouraged to go at our own challenge, being mindful of our safety but also determined enough to push a little bit longer. The interval designs made it possible to accomplish short goals and monitor our progress. The balance of structure and individualism is perfect. And I feel AWESOME.
I will definitely be returning. Again and again.

I just joined a few weeks ago and absolutely love it. I have 0% athletic ability, truly a toddler is more agile than I am, but all of the coaches have been so nice and welcoming. I am not a runner, in fact I basically dry-heave walking up a flight of stairs, but even in the past few weeks Iβve been able to up my base pace and run further than I have in years (I mean I have pretty low standards but still). I especially like OT because I feel like Iβm focusing on all parts of my body. I donβt know how to lift weights or anything at all, but the coaches do a great job making sure youβre doing so correctly and safely and give you modifications to tone it down a bit if needed. Iβve also been to a few studios because of travel and like the staff in AA much better than at the other studios. They seem more encouraging and excited to be there. They ask people about their lives and know things about their families, itβs a nice community. Sure itβs expensive, but itβs truly the only work-out Iβve done where I actually feel like I pushed myself when I leave. As someone who hasnβt worked out regularly in years (or like ever really, letβs be honest) I look forward to going everyday. 11 out of 10 would recommend! ππ

This is a great place to mix up your workout and challenge yourself. Every day is different, but with some cardio and free weight staples. The music is bumpin and the environment is high energy. You make an appointment for class and it helps because you have to be there at a certain time. Makes it harder to procrastinate. My only suggestion is more showers, lots of us go to work after class and only 2 showers. Great people, great workout, great way to keep it interesting.

If you're in Ann Arbor, I highly recommend the OT on Plymouth Rd over this one. I've been to 8 different OT locations in 5 different states, have always been very satisfied, and have never felt crowded by the set up, except at this location (visiting on a business trip). The rowers were so close together that getting in and out was difficult and the people next to me and I kept bumping elbows. Also, apparently this location does a lot of "team" workouts which is difficult when you aren't familiar with the other people in the class and fitness levels aren't matched well, so I didn't get the great workout I'm used to at OT.

I love that every day's workout is different. I don't have to plan anything other than my schedule - show up after work and get my butt kicked, no workout planning required! The instructors are awesome and the environment is friendly. The facility is clean, the machines are new (replaced every 3 years, need it or not), and the location is convenient.

The workout is fast-paced and varied. It's always challenging, but never impossible. And it's actually quite fun. I love all the different combinations the crew puts together to keep it interesting and unpredictable. And speaking of the crew, at my gym on South Main in Ann Arbor, the crew makes the entire experience very special. The personal attention one gets, the warm greetings, and the encouragement to push past your self-imposed boundaries -- all of it is sincere and keeps you coming back. Plus, sometimes the 80s/90s music they play reminds me of when I was young and skinny, so it puts me in that headspace and gets me moving "back" toward the good old days! Love it.

I like the equipment, particularly the rowers as a central piece to the workouts in this gym. The staff are very helpful and motivating. I lift weights at home but this is something both me and my wife can do together and it's really more approachable and less boring for her than the workouts that I do. The cues from the instructors on form are very helpful.

I have never felt more welcome at a gym or fitness center than I do at OTF-Ann Arbor. The staff makes an effort to know every person who walks through the doors and goes out of their way to ensure you have the best experience possible. I've found more than just fitness at OTF, I've found a community. I've also tested my fitness limits and accomplished personal goals that I believed were so far-fetched. OTF has the best instructors that aren't afraid to challenge me to push my limits. They get to know you and what you are capable of and challenge you to get better. The workouts can be tailored to any fitness level but as a former D1 athlete I really believe this is the best workout you can get. I love to push my limits and I feel challenged every single class. The trainers - they have good energy and keep me motivated. Christie, Greg, Meredith, Alicia and Seana at Main Street are fantastic! They also all help accommodate my various injuries by helping me identify appropriate modifications. The continuously changing workouts and challenges make it motivating and fun to come back. I have gotten faster and stronger since I joined OTF. I like the community that OTF AA has fostered. The front desk staff helps with this. They are all great even when I show up at 4:40 am for a 5:00 am class they greet me with a smile. I highly recommend for people at all levels from new to working out to seasoned athletes.

The workouts are challenging but doable if you push yourself. The coaches are great and push you right when you need it. The playlists help, and the heart rate monitor allows me to monitor my efforts in real time and let me know when I need to up my game. I've been a member for 10 months now, going consistently twice a week, sometimes more. I've never been healthier.
