I would’ve gave this location 5 stars with the exception of one of the coaches. I think he maybe in management or part owner. He’s never friendly to me and avoids any contact and never acknowledges me during workouts. I thought he didn’t know my name so I said hello to him today when he was standing right next to me. He looked at me with distain and said Hi as if he didn’t want to speak. Not sure what his problem is but the other coaches are super nice. I’ve traveled nationwide and never encountered rude coaches except for him

My experience has been awesome so far. Now, I must admit I am a beginner, and the class is fast-moving. But the instructor allows you to move at your own pace while directing you. I'm so excited glad that i signed up!

Everything is good about this center. No complaints about the classes or coaches.

Giving 1 star only to bring to attention of Orange theory management team that it is a bummer that Friday evening classes have been cancelled.
It is inconvenient to take morning and afternoon classes on a working weekday. The evening after work hour classes were convenient. Requesting to start the evening classes again at the Farmington studio.

I never worked out at any gym prior to joining in 2021 so I couldn’t honestly compare OTF to anything. But, it checks all of my boxes. I don’t need intimidating equipment, with the setups we have we get the workout in efficiently. Beyond the templates and specialty workouts, I appreciate: the coaching, the shared space, the community of regulars, the time slots, the rules, the science, the technology, the variety. It’s realistic but challenging. You have options and mods. The app gives you most everything you need. And, the Farmington Hills location has no drama. It’s exactly as you expect and would want it to be. Welcoming. Additionally, I value the diversity in the studio. Mainly, all body types are represented which is comforting. No complaints here.

I love many things about OTF Farmington’s workouts: the coaches are gently encouraging, very welcoming and have a great wealth of knowledge. Also, I love that I get a great workout in an hour- incorporating cardio and weights. AND- maybe most of all- I love my team. There is a large group of people who I now say, β€œSee you tomorrow!” to at the end of a workout.

I like that OTF challenges and pushes me mentally and physically every single workout. I love that there’s no two same workout, they’re always different. Instructors are very kind, knowledgeable, and passionate about what they do and care about the progress of their members. Wearing the heart rate monitor helps me to focus on myself and understand that my best and fat burning zone is different than everyone else’s. It makes it feel individualized and specific to me. I now have my two sisters going to OTF along with my best friend. Seriously worth the investment! -Sept 2022
β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”
Orange Theory Fitness has honestly changed my life. When I originally joined a few years back, I was just looking to move my body and maybe lose some weight. What I’ve gained over the years is a community, confidence, strength, and a new mindset in regards to exercise. The coaches genuinely care about the members and encourage us to be better with each workout. I tell everyone about Orange Theory Fitness! -June 2023

I cannot express how grateful I am to have chosen Orangetheory Fitness for my fitness journey. Over the past 18 months, I have attended more than 320 classes, and I am extremely satisfied with the results and the support I received, especially during my recovery from surgery and other medical procedures.

One of the standout aspects of Orangetheory Fitness is the supportive and knowledgeable staff and coaches. From the moment I walked through the doors, they made me feel welcome and ensured that I was comfortable throughout my fitness journey. They were always available to answer any questions I had and provided me with modifications when needed during my recovery period. Their expertise and guidance were invaluable in helping me navigate my fitness routine while taking my medical condition into consideration.

The variety of workouts offered at Orangetheory Fitness is another factor that has kept me motivated and engaged. Each class is carefully designed to challenge different muscle groups and incorporate cardiovascular exercises. The combination of cardio, strength, and endurance training in each session has helped me achieve remarkable progress in my overall fitness levels. I feel stronger, more energized, and more confident in my abilities.

One of the unique aspects of Orangetheory Fitness that I truly appreciate is the use of heart rate monitors and the concept of the "orange zone." This feature has not only helped me track my progress but has also provided me with real-time feedback on my effort and intensity during the workouts. It's an effective way to ensure that I'm pushing myself to my full potential while still being mindful of my body's limitations during the recovery phase.

Additionally, the positive and motivating atmosphere at Orangetheory Fitness is contagious. Working out alongside other like-minded individuals who are striving for their own fitness goals has been incredibly inspiring. The instructors create a supportive environment where everyone feels encouraged to push themselves and celebrate their achievements.

I love it! The fact that I look forward to getting out of bed at 5:30am is huge! I am NOT a morning person. I love the energy, the loud music, and the dim lights. I don’t get bored. It keeps my interest that we move stations every 20 minutes or so, sometimes sooner. I don’t think I’ve ever looked forward to a workout before I started going to Orange Theory. I’m so happy I found this place!

I am not a person who loves to workout, unless it's at OTF. I have tried working out at gyms by myself, i have tried personal training, and I have tried other group fitness classes. This is by far my favorite. The classes are different each time and they have benchmarks throughout the year so you can see how you improve and push yourself. Their trainers are great at what they do and make the class so much fun.

The coaches and staff at this location are amazing! I love the energy of the classes and the fact that I don’t have to do anything else except show up. I’m so glad I took the jump to join.

One suggestion I have is if it would be possible to have an β€œopen gym” setting or something similar. Paying a good price for unlimited, it would be nice to be able to come in between the morning and afternoon classes to use the equipment rather than getting another gym membership.

I truly recommend OTF to anyone considering it. Going from not working out at all to WANTING to go 5-6x a week, over time, has seriously changed my life (not even trying to sound clichΓ©!)

I really enjoyed the classes as its a great supplement for my fitness goals. It also gives me the challenge that I need in fitness as well. Unfortunately, I wasn't happy with certain staff members. I received an email to reply to the email to book my 2nd free class but never got a follow through. So I called to arranged it on the phone after I waited a few days. The lady offered me a complimentary body scan and said she would put it in my file to set it up as long as I showed up 10 minutes early. I showed up 15 minutes and didn't get it. No big deal I'll just workout and bring it up later. After the class was over, the gentleman working the desk was busy attending other members. I didn't want to just interrupt him by handing a sweaty heart monitor to him because of the "germs" so I waited. As I waited, I locked it in one of the lockers and showered and hopefully he will be less busy. I finish showering, he was still busy with multiple people at the front desk. The thing that irked me was that when I was showering, he had time to leave a voicemail on my phone telling me that I had the heart rate monitor and to come back to return it. I never left! I was showering. And I was waiting for you to be less busy but that wasn't the case. I was hoping to purchase a 10 class package after my class but I was turned off. I just placed the monitor on the desk in front of him and walked out upset. I will not come back here again. I will take my business elsewhere.

Terrible OTF location and like all the franchises owned in MI by Scott, run terribly. Have had a membership at OTF for years. They had the audacity to tell me that I couldn’t bring a guest to try it out, because my guests don’t sign up at a high enough rate or don’t want to sit around after a workout for their pushy sales pitch when, if they liked it, they could just join via the app etc. God-forbid someone try out one class. There’s nothing to discuss after, it’s pretty self-explanatory. If someone likes it, they’ll join. If not, no big deal. Also, very gossipy instructors at this location.

We ended up leaving this gym because of the customer service/employees getting away with being obnoxious on a treadmill while we talked quietly and were scolded/and the ginormous risk for injury. I originally liked the concept of OTF but it's just not customizable or safe. The cost per month seemed worth it but not if you are going to hurt yourself each time you come in. There is 1 trainer for 30 something people, they obviously cannot be watching your form at all times. I am a RN, and even I started to feel a lot of stress on my back. I had never weight lifted before so it was essential I had proper form to not injure myself. Luckily I quit before it got bad, however, I watched so many older folks working at the weights with horrible back and leg mechanics- just waiting for disaster to happen. OTF is now just about everywhere so it's very pro-profit with customer service hitting the bottom. When we quit the manager simply said they would talk to the employee who was inappropriately chatting it up with the trainer, but they could do nothing for our membership cancellation fees. Eventually the regional manager reached out and refunded us, the only good thing to come of this. Since then, it seems like 2 different managers have reached out to bring me back (the turnover for managers doesn't seem to be a good sign). If you are looking for a safe custom workout I would suggest looking for groupons for personal trainers. This ensures you will reach your custom goals and be safe. Yes, they are more expensive than even OTFs "highest" monthly plan, but it's probably more worth it in the long wrong to save yourself from injury.

I really loved the orange theory trial class but I am so disappointed with the pricing options. Two classes a week at $99.00 a month is simply not enough. That gives you 8 classes for a month. I wish it was three classes a week. That would feel more reasonable. Especially since many doctors recommend that the average person works out at least three times a week. The one class a week option isn't worth it, from an exercise perspective because that's not enough to achieve weight loss. The only other option is going as much as you want but that's $159.00 a month, which is out of my price range. I am still debating if I will join. I want to join because the classes are awesome and I think they would really help me with my weight loss goals but I wish they offered more affordable pricing or had three classes as the minimum with the medium range package. It's just hard for families on a budget who want to get in shape. I also heard that you have to pay an extra fee for the heart monitor that they don't disclose up front. So I am not sure how much that would cost on top of the membership. It's discouraging because this is really a fantastic workout method and the classes get you excited about working out and reaching your fitness/weightloss goals, but the price is really expensive. In their defense, from a business perspective all their equipment is premium quality and looks expensive. Literally, the best treadmill I have ever power walked/ran on and their rowing machines are awesome.

As a beginner I felt that this concept would be a bit too advanced for me. However, the group concept may just be the Catalyst I needed to push my engagement further. I enjoyed the variety in the workout. I also enjoyed that monitor so I could adjust my engagement accordingly.

There were times in the workout that I thought I would vomit! However after a day of soreness I am ready to go back! I liked the feeling I got after leaving. The staff at Farmington Hills was amazing. Chris was very encouraging and the front desk staff went out of their way to make certain I felt welcomed

The workout is demanding but manageable according to your fitness level. The trainer is efficient and supportive. The overall experience is fun but challenging

I like that the trainer is right there guiding you throughout the workout and the workout changes to prevent boredom.

I started out really liking my time here, but as I started going more I was disappointed and had progressively worse experiences.

Pros:
Clean facility
Workouts are usually good

HR training is motivating (however see below)

Cons:
-It is EXPENSIVE. For not having the option to go whenever you want (you have to sign up for set hour-long workouts) or ANY extras (the ONLY thing you get is the hour workout) included it is very expensive.

-On top of paying $100-$160/month you have to purchase your own proprietary heart rate monitor that you can ONLY use during your orange theory class for $100. This requirement was not disclosed when I signed up. This to me is the WORST part about this whole thing since I already have a fit bit that not only tracks my heart rate, but steps and gives me notifications as well. The whole point of this "style" of workout is to see your name on the screen and know where you are. That option is ONLY available if you buy their band which is a horrible value compared to literally ANY other activity trackers/smart watches on the market. Oh also you CANNOT RETURN their band period. This is simply inexcusable in my mind.

-You have NO say or options in your workout. Want to focus on strength? Too bad its endurance day. The workouts are not disclosed when signing up for them. Maybe put them in the app (hey theres a good idea)? They have a lot of equipment that will just sit which is really sad if you enjoy using say the TRX bands or ab dollies, because it could be 2 weeks before you see them again.

-If you do not cancel 8 hours before your workout you are still charged. So when I was planning on going after work and something changed on my lunch break? Still getting charged for a workout kinda stings. It does not matter if the work out was full or not, nor does the reason matter. Again, this in my opinion does not seem "customer friendly" for a premium price. Also even if you buy the "unlimited" package they charge you in addition to the monthly fee.

-Don't use all your workouts in a month? You lose them, no roll over, no refunds no sympathy. Again not really customer friendly IMO.

-The app is a little buggy and makes you log in EVERY SINGLE TIME you sign up for a workout. This is a minor annoyance compared to the rest, but again for a premium price I don't expect to have to worry about this.

-When I was then told I cannot talk to my fiance quietly during my workout I had finally had enough (after witnessing staff talking and flirting during their workouts with no repercussions) and brought my many concerns up to the manager. Well honestly I would have gotten the same results had I talked to a stranger who was walking by on the street. For every concern the manager had a counter point and offered no apologies (she did offer to talk to her staff but did not apologize because talking to anyone is discouraged during a workout). I had not originally intended on canceling my membership until this point in the conversation. I have NEVER paid a premium and gotten 0 customer service in return. After arguing with us over all of our concerns she said that she really couldn't do anything about any of it and was sorry to see us go as she got our cancelations forms ready for us. To say that it was not quite sincere would be an understatement.

Like I said, I started off recommending this place to others ( I no longer will) so it is quite sad to see it become progressively worse. As well as the workouts moving further and further away from my goals (again you have NO say in this). I have never paid a premium price and had 0 flexibility in return. If you don't mind not having a say and throwing away over $100+ a month then this gym is perfect for you.

One final point, they sell this with a "personal trainer" with every workout. That is also sadly not true and I feel portrays almost a criminal picture in the sales pitch. You are LUCKY if you receive more than 3 minutes of personal guidance throughout an hour workout. From my 10+ workouts I have never received more than 5 total minutes of "coaching".

It's diverse! There is never a workout where we do the exact same thing as the last class! It's an all around workout. The fact we see our heart rate throughout the class is a personal competition with ourselves to get in the right zone when needed. The staff is great, and the coaches are wonderful! I love it. I would recommend orange theory fitness to anyone!

It gives me that feeling of accountability and that i have to keep going. I look around at the rest of the class and think if they can do it so can I. Don't give up on yourself just because you feel tired. Keep going and as always I see the results faster with this gym than I did when i did it alone.
