I stumbled across the studios Empowered high heel dance class and signed up with the hopes of being in the presence of strong willed women and deepen my self confidence- and that’s exactly what was delivered! From the second I walked in the door I felt welcomed, seen, and supported especially with it being my first time taking a dance class. It was refreshing to be in a place that truly stands for bringing people together through dance and community. Very grateful to have met the owner Jen and all the ladies along the way! I’m looking forward to taking the next class. ❤️

Just wanted to reach out and say thank you for assisting my daughter and her nervousness during the recital today. I know there was a bunch of stuff going on simultaneously and your entire staff was 1000% attentive and ready to rock when they saw that she was nervous. Professionalism at its finest. This just adds to the many reasons why I absolutely love having her at the studio.

As someone who has danced at Over the Top nearly all 20 years it has been operated, I couldn't be more excited or proud to have my own daughter start dancing there this year. Owners, Jen & Ajamu, not only put their everything into their business and students, but are also working so hard to enrich the Alger Heights community. I am thankful for Jen's thirst to always keep learning, which helps her dancers to only get better and for her passion to create a safe place for all people and all age groups at Over the Top.

How do you explain the unexplainable?? Over the top dance academy performance of Disney’s Moana Jr was absolutely terrific, correction terrific doesn’t begin to explain the visual effects, dance choreography, singing and sheer talent displayed today. From the tallest to the smallest performer everyone had a role and the opportunity to showcase talent during the production. My family was mesmerized and my Daughters ages (9,7&7) continuously said “Mom, please sign us up. Please” 😊 Jen, thank you for continuing to reach back into the community for our children. Thank you for allowing the opportunity to be “OVER THE TOP” without limitations! The city of Grand Rapids is blessed to have Mr. & Mrs. Smith! Great Job Jen.

"Miss Jen" and her instructors are the very best at creating a culture and lifestyle focused on love and the pure joy of dance. Being a single dad and having the terrible feeling of constantly fighting to have time with my daughter is completely eliminated after the first Over the Top live performance. Bring your son or daughter to Miss Jen's world, your child will benefit in ways which greatly exceed the dollar cost. Get out to see an Over the Top dance performance !!

This is a great dance academy and Coach Jen Is great with kids. She coaches my son Jacob and he is a better dancer because of her guidance and instructions. Great customer service and all around best dance studio

My daughter has been taking classes at Over The Top for 15 years. She has also been a member of the competition team for 10 years.
She has not only learned dance skills but has gained family/friends for life.
The love the owner, Jen Smith and the teaching staff show to the children is irreplaceable! They really care about each of their students!
