The new staff at this location seem unprofessional and unapproachable. They spend more time on their phones than acknowledging customers, and they don’t even make eye contact. I really wish PF would make a specific area for people to use the mats. It’s like maze to figure out where you can stretch out without someone walking by your head, using weights by you, putting a bench in the walkway, using ropes when you’re trying to chill and stretch. One attendant even said oh just find a spot. When I said there isn’t a comfortable area he just shrugged his shoulders. The 30 min room could be rearranged easily or rearranging the other machines that don’t care if people are laying on the floor trying to stretch out. Grand Haven has it set up nicer. Yeah.

I'm not going to lie I am homeless living in my car. I use the gym to shower. I decided to go in black card lounge to sit for a bit. I accidentally fell asleep once got a warning. The person that is on duty is more worried about me being asleep then she is her job. I get it, it's a business but you don't have to be so nasty. I didn't do anything to her. I am also fat, not sure if that was the issue. She definitely treated me like trash. I am working two jobs to get out of my car.

I've been coming to this Planet Fitness regularly for well over three years. I mostly use the strength machines and weights in the afternoon or evening.

The staff are pleasant, the location is clean. The cleaning stations are kept stocked and the machines are in good repair.

A little while back they increased the number of Smith machines and dumbbells (plus benches) by 50%, which made a welcome improvement to their availability. I also take it as a good sign that the staff and management are paying attention to what's popular, and are willing to invest in improving the experience of the members. They've also recently updated some cardio machines (which I'm sure others appreciate), and added a few new forms of plate-loaded strength machines (which I appreciate).

Yesterday evening after 1am the two ladies at the front desk felt the need to call the police for no reason at all. They also seemed extremely judgemental. If we pay for a membership the gym is 24 hours. I like to come late because there aren't as many people. 4 cops were there and then they were sitting in the parking lot for over an hour. If I pay for a membership and it's a 24 hour gym. I should be able to be on my phone or in my car if I'd like without being harassed by Police. If these new hires feel the need to make everyone else uncomfortable for no reason find a new job or don't work late hours. They didn't talk to anyone that I saw, so why are you calling the police and having them sit in the parking lot to harass us? Then when I'm leaving they're both standing inside the black card member area. They don't tell us have a nice night or anything. Why would I ever want to go back to this gym if the time I like to go there's these workers who call the Police to harass us for no reason. It's a public 24 hour lot and no one was doing anything wrong I saw. If we're paying members what's the issue? I don't wanna feel like I might be harassed by Police at the time I like to go in. If they're going to alienate members, call the police, and judge people, they have no business working here and need to find another job. I've been a member here for over 10 years. I've never once seen anyone call the police. It's because it's two girls working late at night and they'd rather stand around with no one in the gym and call the cops on our members for nothing. Lastly why are the Ann Arbor cops worried about a public 24 hour lot ? No one's doing anything illegal and they shouldn't of even responded to a call like that with 4 officers? They have nothing to do and they need to stop harassing people if they're not breaking any laws. Same goes with the ladies at the front. I also could clearly hear them making negative comments about me as well out loud. I would never go to this gym late night again unless both these employees are terminated. I'm paying for a membership I don't need to be judged or harassed. They're working at PF I'm sure making close to minimum how do they have room to judge anyone? Terrible and unnecessary. Worst customer service ever at any Planet Fitness. I'd like a response and both these employees to be terminated. I'm not comfortable going to my home gym anymore or apparently I can't be on my phone in my car or the two girls at night gonna call the police to harass us.

Some really needs to do something about the showers not draining. It’s unsanitary and disgusting to shower standing in water that is backed up from the drain drains. I think that the ellipticals in this establishment have extra resistance build in as I struggled to do 8, while I do 10 to 15 at my home planet fitness. However, the calorie burn was substantially more than typical. The equipment was well maintained and clean. Parking unfortunately is limited.

Horrible customer service and management! I went in person to cancel my membership (another annoying aspect of planet fitness they make you go in person to cancel) in April 2024 because I was graduating in May and moving out of Ann Arbor. I have been getting charged for the past 4 months since I moved out of Ann Arbor! The front desk told me he cancelled it when I went in-and I took his word for it. Then I called the manager when I realized and he claims “how do we know you actually came in”. The people working the front desk absolutely don’t know how to run their jobs and can’t seem to do anything correctly. On top of that management is not considerate at all and also part of the problem. So glad I moved and don’t have to deal with an incompetent gym anymore.

Immediately after being in this pf for about 30 minutes I regretted changing my home gym from the one on washtenaw to this one. There's no welcome when you walk in, the 1 employee who wasn't there didn't smile once you could tell he didn't want to be there. He kept looking me up and down which is whatever until I went to the leg press which is located directly in front of the desk area, yea there's a wall there but it needs to be taller because this creep kept staring in my direction for 10 min and didn't move. I used about 4 machines and there's dirt and dust all over the bottom of every peice of equipment. The floor in that particular area at the time was always clearly unswept and dirty.
At washtenaw there's always 2 or more employees walking around cleaning and stocking and actually doing work and making everyone feel welcome. I'm really not sure how this place is getting the good reviews that it does. I've been to a few planet fitness over the last year or so and I've never experienced such rude and weird vibes from employees

I didn't know when I joined that training sessions are free with membership and it was super easy to try them out. NO HOT SHOWERS. I have been a loyal customer of this location for over 8 years. During the last few months, it has been extremely frustrating to come here to work out , and not be able to count on having hot water to wash up afterward. They had a new remodel done at the end of 2023, and since then the hot water has been spotty, especially at NON-PEAK times. Management doesn't seem to care, and will rarely post a sign warning patrons. This issue has been going on for months, and despite having plumbers come out, it has not been resolved.
I would like to note though, that the staff is friendly and the workout areas are kept impeccably clean. It's unfortunate that the locker room situation cancels out every good aspect of this location.

I've been to several platness fitness locations and this is by far the most welcoming PF location I've been to. Both with other patrons and employees. COURTNEY specifically was the sweetest, from the moment we came in the door to the moment we left, she had the most welcoming smile on her face and was patient in walking my mom through the guest check in link. They shut down for moths to make the place less user friendly. They got rid of half the lockers and to make up for it they made them half the size so now you have to use two if your bring a bag and a coat. Now half the locker room is just empty. I was a member of PF for over a year, I lived in a van so it was very convenient. I went to the Ann Arbor location ONE time and had made it my “home location” before traveling on. I left the country October 18, 2023 and attempted to cancel my membership on the phone. I was instructed to snail mail request for cancellation to a different location in Michigan since the Ann Arbor location was closed for renovations, which I did. I also removed my banking info from my account and linked a cashapp account.
Ann Arbor tried several times to charge my cashapp account without success. Yesterday they went into my payment history and STOLE my banking information and CHARGED me. I haven’t been to ANY PF since October 17th and find it incredibly ridiculous that they charged me without services rendered after I canceled in multiple ways. I will be calling headquarters and whatever corporate entity I can find. This is absolute THEFT. The owners of this business are thieves, but the manager I spoke to today was kind, understanding, and incredibly helpful. This is not a reflection of the staff of PF, just the owners.

Don't worry, they didn't fix the shower drains so you can still stand in two inches of your dirty shower water. If two people are using the showers, you can stand in your neighbors dirty shower water as well. Disgusting.

Updating this review since they completed their remodel but very little has changed. This is still most poorly maintained Planet Fitness I've ever been to. It is close to my work but I frequently go out of my way to the Ypsilanti location because it is so much nicer. If it were my home club I wouldn't have a membership.
I've been going to the Ann Arbor location for a few times a month since the beginning of the year and it is consistently in bad shape.

They have some sort of issue with their shower drains and water pools in two of their three shower changing stalls. You'd have thought they would have fixed this during their recent re-model but they did not. I was still standing in two inches of water in the shower and the water sloshed out all over the locker room.

They've had ripped padding on an arm curl machine for a month, a broken door for a week, and every time I come in at least one or two things are broken (bottle filling station, shower head missing, equipment broken.

If it were only one or two things occasionally I would be understanding but there is a clear and consistent lack of care on the part of the staff at this location. It is a shame that a terrible location like this might be the only exposure to the Planet Fitness brand because all of the other dozen or so gyms in the chain I've visited have been absolutely fine.

It was an OKAY gym while I was going there. People kept to themselves for the most part and they had all the equipment I needed. The hot water in the showers was inconsistent and would sometimes be broken when I went in (granted this was pre-COVID). I wish they would notify via email or something so people wouldn't stop there before work and then have to decide if they were going to go work sweaty, brave the cold or pass on their workout when they were already there.

My big issue with Planet Fitness is the drama to leave. It doesn't make sense that you can decide to change and transfer your membership online but not cancel. Their online justification for this is that each location is a franchise so the cancelation policy varies from location to location.
I moved and didn't think to go to the location in person to cancel in advance. We don't have any planet fitness here so I hoped that I could cancel online or call. Unfortunately, they do not allow you to call either and you must cancel in person or "write a handwritten letter." This letter will not even be recieved by the Stadium Planet Fitness because they are closed and so it will be processed by locations in the surrounding cities.

This practice is such a blatent way of trapping people into unwanted memberships and prolonging people from being able to leave.

This place is good, the facilities are nice and staffs are friendly. But when I was going to move for my job, I walked in to the gym and ask the staff to cancel my membership. I specifically said I will be moving out of Ann Arbor completely. But they just paused my membership for a month and it's charging me again. Now that I am not in Ann Arbor, there is a whole cumbersome mailing process that I need to do to ask them to cancel it for me. It's super annoying. I am not sure if this is done on purpose to add more cancellation difficulties to make you not to want to change your gym or is it just a mistake.

My quest in life is not to go into every single planet fitness in the nation however this is number 91 for me. I do a lot of traveling because of public speaking. This has got to be one of my top five favorite locations. My first time here and I am so impressed with the city of Ann Arbor as well as this gym which is immaculately clean with fantastic up to date modern equipment that sadly some of the other planet fitnesses are letting her to the wayside. The hospitality and the greeting and the conversation I had with Debbie and Joe was inspiring. These are great team members; I have always said that the greeting when you walk into any planet fitness or any other business is what will set the tone for your experience the rest of the duration that you are there. I take my half off to Debbie and Joe and the owner of this particular location. Keep up the Great work. Congratulations on all your success and may much more lie ahead for each of you. Thank you.
(P.S. on my second visit I had the pleasure to meet Bri, Jeremiah and Jason. It's always good to explore new planet fitnesses as the equipment varies from gym to gym. I think that the ellipticals in this establishment have extra resistance build in as I struggled to do 8, while I do 10 to 15 at my home planet fitness. However, the calorie burn was substantially more than typical. The equipment was well maintained and clean. Parking unfortunately is limited.

Rude staff, dismissive when I was overcharged. They will charge you AFTER you quit the gym, do nothing about it, then spam your inbox asking you to come back

Sometimes irty Toilets are dirty here! And there is in- between disinfecting/cleaning There is accessible parking but doors are not very disability- friendly.They might slap back on you and turn you down

The facility is a great place to work out. Did t like that to end your membership, you can’t go to any gym. My daughter moved to another city, but she had to drive back to the gym she signed up at in order to cancel. That is a little up-surd to me.

Im honestly very pleased with this specific establishment. I was apprehensive about joining Planet Fitness due to negative experiences with a different location in the past, but decided to give it a shot here just over four months ago. I typically come during early morning hours and have found that I really enjoy it. The staff are always kind, I always notice the staff cleaning the machines, the bathrooms are generally in good condition, and the community seems inviting. I have been pleasantly surprised by my experience here and would recommend this gym to anyone in the A2 area.

I’ve been coming to Planet Fitness for a while now and I have to say since Debbie hired on, the women’s locker room is always amazingly clean! Debbie works super hard, never seems to stand still for even a second, and she always greets me with a smile and encouraging words for my workout. Love her! …truly, all staff is awesome at this gym. Everyone greets you with a smile and tries to meet your needs in the best way possible. Equipment is mostly clean and members of this gym are easy to workout with too. Highly recommend!

i love going here! i go every morning, monday through friday. dani is always there to greet me and she keeps the woman’s locker room so clean, it’s nice seeing a friendly face every morning on my way in and out of the gym:)

Probably the worst gym in the area. The staff is unbelievable rude they always look and act like they don’t want to be there. And they have no problem having you sit and wait at the counter for them to check their phones (not to mention they don’t look like they should be working at a gym) They don’t clean they’re machines after use. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Worst planet fitness in the Ann Arbor area you’re better off going to ypsi - scratch that Crunch fitness or LA fitness. Better quality workers and equipment.

Typical Planet Fitness. Management is unwilling to listen to concerns or asks to support their members. Although only $10/month for the lowest membership, there are other gyms in the area with better equipment and staff to support the members. I would not recommend this location.

Update: Shawn reached out as an attempt to remedy my review. After mentioning that I had previously sent an email he said that he did not receive, he was more concerned with losing a member over addressing the management issue at this location.

Conclusion? If I could give a lower review I would.

not a bad place to workout at. i enjoy doing my workouts here. only thing is that on google and the pf app it says that this location is open 24/7 when it’s not. it’s weird especially since on google it says the business updated it’s hours a week ago but it hasn’t been open 24/7 since April. here are the hours:

I felt judged every single time I entered this location... I even had an Indian/Middle Eastern girl harass me to sign in a second time and show her because she was being lazy one day and hanging out with coworkers in the back...
I really don't appreciate evil eyes and harsh treatment from almost every single employee here...
There was only one worker who didn't make me feel uncomfortable, a young girl with a crew cut and a genuine smile for everyone who walked in the door... The rest of the crew needs to drop their judgement before stepping in the doors... I won't be returning to this location for awhile and highly suggest against anyone else

The equipment is outdated and squeaky. But it's a good deal, however I told him I was leaving town they continue to charge me, and then when I tried to cancel it they said that they needed to certified letter from me because I wasn't anywhere near another planet fitness. So the deal is okay but you got to kind of watch them like a hawk.

A few months ago I posted a review about the unfortunate lack of cleaning in the restroom areas at this location. Well I was gone for a month and when I came back things were different. When this location opened back up following the covid shut-down, I called to cancel my membership due to not being comfortable in the gym for health reasons and also moving over an hour away. They told me I needed to send a letter. Since late 2020, I have sent multiple physical letters to cancel my membership and when I've called to ask why I've continued to be charged, I've been told it will be canceled but still, for the past year and a half, I have been charged every month. I'm not angry, just disappointed that I've been paying every month for a membership I do not use and have tried to cancel and when I talk to staff that answers the phone, I am brushed off. I liked this gym a lot when I went there consistently prior to covid, though.
