I like this gym but the blonde girl at the desk is extremely unwelcoming and makes me feel like a burden whenever I check in. I totally understand not having a good day or not wanting to chat to everyone that comes in, but I honestly started thinking she had an issue with me specifically the way her demeanor is.

Seeing that others have had similar experiences, I really hope management speaks with her because it really puts a damper on things when you smile at someone and they are rude.

My experience in coming here has been a good one thus far. However, I have had two very uncomfortable and unpleasant interactions with a pink haired caucasian woman, we'll call her P.
I don't know if she's a racist or if she's just a poor front desk receptionist. Either way, You don't want that to be the first face you meet when you go to the gym.
A lot of people struggle to go to the gym. So, when you finally do make it there you don't need this scrunched up unhappy, I don't know their pronouns, person greeting you. I almost gave one star. But that was simply based on the interaction with scrunch face.
Every other staff member I've interacted with has been pleasant and welcoming. I'll definitely keep going! One frog will not ruin the show 😝

Owner, I highly recommend hiring friendly people to serve at your front desk, and providing your guests with an overview of your rules. Used your gym as a guest today. Craig, working the front desk, never smiled, nodded, said hello, good morning, and appeared “put out” when helping me register. Also interrupting my routine to tell me bags were required in a locker, which is fine…I’m not a rule breaker. However, Craig doesn’t know how to deal with people. He comes off mad, rude, and defensive.

The female employee with blonde hair was extremely rude when I signed in. The check in scanner wasn't up on the desk so I waited patiently for her to put it up. She eventually put it up, without greeting me, thanking me for waiting, didnt even look at me, nothing. That's fine. But I scanned in and said thank you.. still didn't look up or say a word. You can hate your life behind that desk all you want, but if you're a client facing employee, have some common decency. It only benefits you in the long run.

So I have silver sneakers, And they are supposed to take that , The older white guy with glasses Told me, I had to purchase a membership, that sounded very sketchy, I called silver sneakers. They told me they’re supposed to take the Free membership. If you have silver sneakers. Don’t buy any membership there.. So why aren’t they excepting the silver sneakers? I used to enjoy coming here as a black card member, but a few of the male staff members are so rude and cold. Very uninviting personalities working behind the counter and they make you feel like you’re bothering them. I can understand if an employee is having a bad day, but this has been consistent. We came in today around 6pm looking for a new gym. Upon arrival, the employee was talking with a lady at the desk and told us he could not give us a tour because he was the only staff member there. He told us to go online to sign up for a membership and returned back to his conversation. But why would we if we couldn't get a tour? He apologized but carried on. My everyday favorite gym. The two main reasons this gym is great are Jason and Jay. These 2 guys are behind the desk every night I come in and they just help me mentally prepare for a great workout. They are always kind and genuine, and prepared to get you pumped. On top of all that, they keep the gym, clean, and create a great atmosphere. This review is more about them than the gym itself, they are the reason I continue to come here.

Usually a great gym I go to when I'm back home but tonight was the exception that ruined it for me. I walked in and scanned in but forgot I only had my membership for Traverse City and a worker told me woah woah woah you can't do that but I'll let you slide today, and I understand he's doing his job I'm fine with that. I’m a PF Black Card member, and despite multiple escalations to the manager, the issue with the staff member with a goatee (forgot the name, may be Craig) remains unresolved. After looking at other reviews, I noticed many others have mentioned the same staff member, so it’s clearly not just me.

He struggles with multitasking, often making members wait. Checking into the gym can take over five minutes, whereas other locations process it in under ten seconds.

Additionally, his demeanor is consistently cold, and I previously experienced behavior that felt discriminatory, which led me to stop visiting this location last year. After returning for a few visits this year, I see that nothing has changed.

Not a great first impression at all. We went in with the intentions of signing up for a membership at this location. The guy with black peppered goatee with a beanie practically blew me and my husband off, telling us to "go sign up through the app."
As my husband was trying to sign up through the app, I went back to the same guy at the front desk with some questions. There was a mother with her younger daughter, from what I can tell, who was voicing her concerns about the daughter's safety. The front desk guy claimed, with zero emotion on his face, "There's nothing I can do about that" and "I am the manager."
Very poor first impression. Since it's our first time only entering without the ability of checking it out or a tour, I'm giving them a 3 star out of 5 but it feels more like less than a 1 star.

DO NOT GO HERE!!! I literally never signed up for a membership. Somehow they charged my credit card for the last six months. They have record of no one stepping foot in the club under my membership. It was never activated or used. EVER. I’m calling the police as they suggested. After they kept my money for the membership that was never used or even like logged onto. They are stealing credit card information and will randomly charge you. And I’m calling channel 4 and anyone else that will hopefully listen. What a scam.

It's good, but the stand up tanning beds are kind of dated. At other locations they have new machines that don't make me look so red after I'm done. At the Rochester location I get burnt, at other newer equipped locations I get a nice tan and not as burnt if I tan at the same time limit.

As a person familiar around a gym, I had my initial reservations about joining PF. It boasts itself as a judgment-free zone for everyone except bodybuilders, but... I read previous reviews of terrible encounters with the staff before deciding to share my own awful experience.

I went into Planet Fitness today to cancel my mom’s membership. She passed away right before Thanksgiving.

I explained to Henry, the manager, that her account had been charged for two months after she had passed and we would like a refund and had the death certificate with me.

Henry looked at me with a blank expression and said “I can’t do that.”

I said, “but her account has been charged even though she’s deceased and I have the certificate with me.”

Henry said “I can’t do that” and walked away. There was absolutely no compassion or kindness. He didn’t express that he was sorry for my loss or sorry that they had loss a member. He just coldly and carelessly walked away.

The front desk worker did tell me he was sorry for my loss, after he saw how inconsiderate his boss was, but the manager Henry left such an awful taste in my mouth.

To treat customers in that way is indicative of not only poor customer service, but poor character.

The rest of my family will be canceling their memberships and I’m encouraging my friends and anyone that reads this to cancel their memberships as well.

Well, I finally decided I need a new gym and for the first time I entered the Planet right by my house to see how it was. It did look absolutely perfect for me. The front desk attendant was there doing something on the computer with another customer and there was no one there other than him. He did not acknowledge my presence until he decided to acknowledge me when I started to look around. How he acknowledged me was the issue. I would have been a lifelong member. I will never set foot in a Planet Fitness ever again.

The new massage chairs were amazing! It is definitely an overall improvement in the way it has been run than my old one in another city years ago. After the massage, I left my phone by accident ,and it was still there an hr later. That's incredible and the location is clearly everything ( West Bloomfield area).

I had a great experience from the first minute of this PF location till the end. The staff was welcoming and they took their time to clean each equipment. I saw multiple of them dusting, and vacuuming during my few hours in there. The showers are clean as well. I have been to many PF locations. This one offers many smiles and a clean facility. I strongly recommend it.

I have been a member of PF for several years, worked out in many locations. I definitely like the gym and the concept. Yet, I recently moved to Bloomfield Hills and I pretty much train daily.
My 3 star review is because 2 main reasons:
1- The gym is not as PF clean as I encountered in other clubs. The men locker room is sometimes muddy and wet.
2- The music is too loud; even when using noice cancellation airpods, I can hear the gym music very clearly and this is very bothering and odd to me.

I hope they take care of that and make sure they meet PF standards.

I’m new to Planet Fitness but so far I love it! It’s clean, friendly and coaching is available. There’s a schedule of classes or you can work out on your own. There’s always someone available to assist you. Check your insurance program to see if you are covered! Otherwise it’s very reasonable and inexpensive.

One of the nicest PF locations I've been too, maybe because it's new, but it's always spotless, employees constantly clean machines and it's extremely spacious.

Changed to 4 stars, great gym just can't believe for something this size they only have one chest fly machine and only one pull-up machine, they're almost always being used

This is by far the worst place I've ever been in in my life..... I just moved around the corner so I was extremely excited there was a Planet Fitness within walking distance of my location so I walk up here this morning they first gave me a hard way to go about my goggles not having protectors on it fair enough.. then when I started my workout I had a very small bag with a few little items in it before I got halfway
through my first workout they messed with me about the bag being on the floor I had water my phone and wipes .. then they come back out and start in on my about my disinfectant wipes... at no point did they give me a break... worst place ever

I really wanted to like this location but the staff is just absolutely horrible. I shouldn’t say the entire staff as a whole because I have had some really pleasant conversation with some staff members but specifically the beef cake in the glasses and the girl with the orange hair are so incredibly rude I couldn’t even believe the audacity to stand at a front desk of any establishment and act that way. I understand that there will be times where employees may not understand or agree with a customer, as someone that works in customer service myself I know there are frustrations in the field. What I also know is that rolling your eyes so far into the back of your head in front of someone expressing a concern, is gross behavior. I also know that making remarks about said customer while the only patient employee (joshua) is diffusing the situation, is also gross behavior. I won’t be returning to this location but I did feel it was important to express what I just experienced. In a place where you’re supposed to feel welcomed, the management needs to be welcoming. End of story.

This is a solid gym for everyone except more serious weight lifters. Plenty of exercise and aerobic machines, with massage chairs and tanning available. Basic amenities like lockers and showers are available as well, and while there are no premium amenities, this is reflected in the price which is far more affordable than gyms that provide more amenities. Biggest drawbacks are that there are no free weight barbells, and the dumbbells max out at only 60 lbs. However, this gym is more than suitable for the average gym-goer or anyone just looking to stay fit or lose a few pounds, and I don't know of any gym that will beat the price.

From what I understand, this is a newer location. The gym is nice but they are very lax at this location. I've been to other locations over my 8 year period of going to Planet Fitness and have been kicked out because I was not wearing gym shoes and for a cut off shirt that was "too open". This location however does not care. You can wear a suit with dress shoes and be fine. I know because I seen a few there dressed like that. You can also wear any type of footwear you want. They also don't enforce phone rules. You know, the ones posted all over the gym on bright yellow signs. I can not tell you how many guys I seen taking video or pictures of females working out without their knowledge. Some days it seems like they are under staffed but then you see they are all "hiding" or having extended conversations with gym goers. Soap is always out in the men's changing room and I've alerted them but nothing seems to change. Definitely needs a staff and management overhaul at this location.

From day 1 I have had nothing but great experiences here. Meeting nice friendly people, staff members are kind, courteous. All the machines are clean and work properly, the entire building including the glass doors are clean. I love coming here for my workout experience.

I've been coming here for a month and the equipment and staff are great. Given that it's anew facility, all the equipment is brand new. Quality of the locker is great and the staff is always friendly. I can't complain at all.

I suggest checking with them by calling to see if they are open rather than driving there to find out they're closed even though the website says so. But that is on me.

Awesome, friendly staff and a really clean and nice space. This opened in June 2021 so it's fairly new and well maintained. Like most gyms it can be pretty busy during peak hours (4-7pm M-F) but not bad if you avoid going at that time. Parking can be a little bit of a hassle seeing as the lot in front isn't that big. Drive slow, lots of people reverse park and there are definitely some blind spots.
