The people are professional and friendly all the time. The issue is when you go in to use black card services at 6am and nothing is working again. You have wasted your time and money. This is not a one time thing. It has been going on for at least 2 years. I go to this location because it happens to be the closest one. I would have spent the same amount of time to go to Hartland, Fenton, Howell or some place else. To bad management does not address the problem. Not one to call out the negative but this problem needs to be fixed.

Everything was good at this location until you had a new female manager. This lady thinks she’s a sheriff and wants to talk to people over the phone then blatantly lie as well about an occurrence that happen at your gym. For the other employee already apologized for her actions but then this new lady on the phone wants to say it never happen. Lady the women literally apologized for her actions now your saying they never happen which is it? 😂🤝 been going to this club for years and now i have been asked to leave during my workout because of jeans (gym) safe . Because it doesn’t fit company policy? What happen to judgement free center? What if I can’t make time to stop before/after work to grab gym clothes. The lady needs to be spoken to on how to properly talk/handle her position. Or someone new needs to take lead

I've just returned to this gym after six years away. It has improved noticeably in that time. The machines are in better condition and in some cases are improved models. There are more of the popular cardio machines now (like stair climbers). The gym, Black Card area, locker room, and restroom are much cleaner. The music volume is much lower, almost inaudible (thank you!).

I'm actually seeing staff wipe down machines. That NEVER happened six years ago. And so far, the staff has been friendly and helpful.

My only knocks are that parking can get a little tough at times. And not an issue with the gym or staff, but the members: I see many more people that just can't be bothered to wipe down their equipment when they're finished.

This is absolute insanity! I have been a paying customer at Planet Fitness for 8 years at least! I have brought new members in, I stuck around when I had to wear a mask, I wipe my stuff off, I wear clothes that cover and I am very friendly. Apparently my account got suspended and now cancelled because I don't always show my eye wear when I tan(even though I go get it out of my bag when they ask), I get a water bottle out of the cooler and the guy that works there says, you are all good, I will put it on your account, I hug employees that are my friends, and that I go in areas that I am not allowed, even though it would be for a minute to ask my friends something. This all got me cancelled! No warning...no nothing. The manager that was previously there was super nice and I never had a problem. All of a sudden a different manager comes in and this happens. She has been out to get me the whole time. Probably because people like me. I have been had creepy guys say nasty things to me, seen people not wipe their stuff down, seen employees fall asleep while working...and some how I am the problem.

Okay, here’s the deal- I’ve been coming here for over a year. If you set aside the fact that it’s often a social hub for older men to talk politics and comment on women’s bodies, the staff has generally been really nice.
Today, after my workout, I went to use the red light therapy. I signed in, was given the go ahead to head back, and started getting set up, only to find the machine wasn’t working. When I came back out, the staff member told me they had shut it off because I didn’t have access. Rather than stopping me before I went back or knocking on the door to let me know, they just let me try to figure out on my own why the machine wasn’t working. I don’t understand why they couldn’t have simply stopped me from walking back in the first place. If you have time to stop it, you have time to tell me before I have to change and try to make it work.

Also, months ago I worked with staff to make sure my account was aligned with my husband’s, so this access issue shouldn’t even be happening. Clearly communication is an issue. Even if the new manager views how my membership was set up as wrong (which I did with staff there). The way today was handled was unprofessional and in poor taste.

I’m an incoming college freshman coming here on a summer pass, and it’s nice to see staff here that are my age that encourage and foster a positive environment for younger or more inexperienced people. However, when I came in recently, I encountered an employee named Christina that really set me off. Incredibly rude to me and my friend when we checked in, which really threw me off for the duration of my lift. She generally just seemed like she wanted everyone to leave, as she was very annoyed and rude in her speech and her body language. Maybe she was having a bad day, but I’ve had other peers warn me about her behavior. Do better.

I typically go in the mornings, and the young gentlemen on staff are always super friendly, welcoming, and helpful. They really set a great tone for my day. But I went in the evening recently, and Christina was working. I’ve never felt more unwelcome at a gym in my life. She barely acknowledged me, talked to another employee about personal drama right in front of me while I was waiting for help, gave me this weird passive/aggressive energy any time I passed the front desk. The way she treated me honestly made me wonder if she had some kind of personal problem with me. honestly made me want to walk right back out. She brings the whole vibe down. Not what I’ve come to expect from Planet Fitness. It’s a gym, not high school. Really disappointing when the rest of the staff has been nothing but kind.

Worst planet fitness I’ve ever been too! I’ve lived in 5 states and multiple cities in Michigan and this gym has the most rules that you can’t even used your black card membership. They also now made a rule you have to have eye wear even when you aren’t using the tanning bed… if you want to use the red light therapy now you have to pay $6 for eye wear for that too! If you want nickeled and dimed to use anything and pay more for the black card membership then you might as well go to a better gym!

I’ve been going here for a while but wanted to warn about good and bad aspects. And I wish I could give a 5 star review just for certain aspects. This is a mixed review, but overall good.

I went here for years no problem. Didn’t love the managers bcuz they were always stand off ish but it was fine. But then I Had an issue with my membership a while ago and woman (who I think was the manager) named Christina was very rude and hard to deal with. I was so frustrated so told her I would come back another day to cancel my membership completely. I came back like a month later and talked with another young woman at the counter. She helped me figure out my membership problem and did some quick problem solving to help me out. Bcuz of her I chose not to cancel my membership. I believe her name is Allyssa. She is the friendliest face at the club and so kind and helpful. She will always greet people and talk to them. Other employees are usually quiet or on their phones so I like when she is there instead. If you have a question try to talk to her because she is kinder and empaethetic and will listen more and help better. Christina was generally very rude and defensive about everything. I would not recommend speaking with her.

Alyssa (good employee mentioned above) also make sure the club is clean. She is the only person I ever see cleaning the women’s locker room and the gym area. Which is great for her but bad for the rest of the employees cuz they don’t do much. I wish they could all clean more often! It’s gross to see mud and grass and hair lying around all the time. They have been better lately but idk it not consistent

Another good thing about the club is the machines. They have the newer matrix models. And a lot of stair masters and newer tread mills. Also the biggest amount of dumbbells and benches I have seen at any planet fitness.

This gym is also very busy. Between 4-8 the gym is packed. Especailly lately with high school kids for the summer thing. It’s ok but annoying. I rly avoid going at that time. Weekends are very slow hours tho so I recommend going then.

Their tanning beds are inconsistent. Like some are always broken or taken. It’s annoying bcuz I never know if I can do what my membership pays for. If U wanna tan here call ahead before you go in

Overall in the time I have been here I like the gym. I would recommend it. It’s getting better and hopefully they will hold onto good employees like Allyssa and get new ones to replace Christina and other managers. For an affordable yet serious gym membership U should go to this location and get the black card. So worth it 💯👍 Just beware that U do get gets you pay for so this isn’t like sum luxury gym. It’s nice tho

Its a dope places. This perfect for a person that has knowledge of basic calisthenics and weight lifting. Machine are cool too. I like that old school workout tho. No pain no gain. I only go to this PF, because it's close to home. But, seriously considering making the drive to another club in Howell. Reason being...this club is so dirty. I've never seen anyone cleaning in the women's locker room, there are drain flies and the sinks smell like when they're dirty and bacteria is present. Same with the one and only drinkng fountain. I take extra water from home because I'm concerned about drinking the water from the fountain. Has the filter ever been changed? It smelled bad a few weeks ago and I mentioned it to the guy at the desk on the way out. Also, what's in those spray bottles...is it a broad spectrum disinfectant? The room in the middle where the KBs are had a bug rock along the wall for weeks, so you know they're not cleaning the floors. I hope this club improves, as it's convenient, but not if it doesn't clean up its act. Literally!

- Severely lacks adequate floor space. They recently added significantly more smith machines and moved their free weights into the stretching area. You often can’t find space on the floor. This is a major concern for me and potentially a deal breaker. I’m still deciding if this facility still meets my needs.

A few machines need some WD40 and could use some more variety in ab machines, like the ones they look away. Water fountain needs new filter and has never been replaced, which is really gross.

My response to the owner my opinion still hasn’t changed your staff is rude and unprofessional. The only one worth keeping is Mike. (OG Review-) I was charged a 10 dollar late fee for no reason I have funds in my account. I talked to the ladies at the front desk one Christina and the other one I didn’t get her name. They told me it was not there problem and there was nothing I could do about it except come in person Tomorrow morning when I’m at work and talk to a manager (No customer support #). They told me I could either workout or leave when I was being patient and calm. This is an honest interaction I had and it rings true for almost every time I’ve been in, the staff is unfriendly and they don’t clean throughout the day overall the equipment is outdated and the black card amenities such as the massage chairs are cheap ones that barley recline vs the novi or canton location. This one is a 3/10 and planet fitness should re-evaluate their standards.

After breaking both of my legs in an accident, I called PF Brighton, MI to cancel or suspend my membership. They said I had to cancel in person, but since I was bedridden, they would make an exception. I checked the app and it appeared I had been cancelled. 16 months later I discover they never cancelled me and have been charging me $22/mo all this time. The Manager will not return my calls even though I have been extremely kind and patient. The desk guy said the Manager will not refund me! I showed them pics of me in the ambulance/hospital etc. They do not care. Taking $350 from an incapacitated person. SHAMEFUL!!

I went in to the gym to officially CANCEL and asked for the Manager. The Manager did not come to the desk. Later he had the desk guy call to tell me they will not refund any money to me. I asked to speak to Manager yet again. He never called me and I expect he never will. I was sweet, respectful and patient with the guys at the desk, so I don’t understand why the Manager is avoiding me.

They need new stair steppers instead of just “fixing” them, and they need more than 4. It’s not nearly enough for the amount of people that go in there. The weight machines also need to be replaced. some are so off centered and or crooked. The wait time on machines being fixed is also too long. When there is only one other duplicate (sometimes) of each machine it leaves not many options when the gym is busy.

The Brighton location is the only one that has ever charged me $1.00 for the eye sticker protectors for tanning. Alarmed, as this is my home club. I think I’ll change my home club to just for that.

Larger of the pf gyms. Need to relax a bit on rules. I watched an employee tell 4 people in a 5 min period they were breaking the rules from item on the ground to wearing jeans. I get if you're on a machine which the jean could put more wear on them, but doing arms on dumbbells/cables or doing a cross trainer it doesn't hurt a thing. Hoodie on the ground for a single set. Bit much since the items in question were up next to the equipment and not in the middle of walkway. I go to a planet on a regular basis that not a single person has needed to be told something from the staff in the decade I've been going. Actually now that I'm thinking more into it. All 3 of the planets I go to on regular basis never have issue with that. Just dislike people being judged is all. Thanks for reading

Compared to the Milford and Novi (Beck Road) ones, this Planet Fitness is very modern and has plenty of machines for everyone to use.
I often hear that it can get really crowded here, but, that wasn't the case for me. I went with a friend at midnight and there were maybe only about five other people; three of them must have been high school kids though, cuz they were kind of distracting and one of them wasn't even working out with the other two.
Aside from that, this gym is a good place for me to get a midnight workout in.

Unreasonable, onerous cancellation policy for those who've moved away. Beware. Must visit home club in person or send cancellation letter by certified mail. This is an underhanded way to squeeze extra money from customers.
RESPONSE to REPLY: True the methods of cancellation are in the agreement. It's your prerogative to surprise your customers when they're ready to cancel and no longer near the home club. However, it appears you're intentionally making it more difficult than necessary for your customers to cancel in an age of electronic commerce. It leaves a bad taste like we used to have after paying late fees to Blockbuster (remember them? - they're gone) or the local cable provider (also slowly going by the wayside). You get to choose to stiff your customers or to make doing business with you easy.

Well, first thing first; I’ve never seen a brown bat flying around inside a gym before, this was a first for me!

Brown bats are protected species in Michigan and can bite if they feel threatened. Sun is up and this guy is flying around trying to get out. OPEN THE DOORS AND TELL PATRONS TO VACATE THE PREMISES!!!

Not sure why the ladies just stared at it flying around the place, but the managerial decision should’ve been to get everyone out, call a trapper (which they may had, in their defense) and get everyone out to protect both the bat and the patrons.

Didn’t feel like they really understood the severity of the situation. People have phobias to bats and I wouldn’t want to be bitten or guano’d during my workout.

Update 2.0: this place sucks. The workers are nice. They mine as well sell beer and appetizers though. By far the worst planet fitness I've been to. Soo busy, and just a horrible set up.

My daughters first time at the gym went terribly... She came to me crying because of the way the worker treated her. I am absolutely furious. She went in, and she had already paid for the membership and since she is under 18 l had to sign for her, which I did. The worker named Timothy (dark hair, and in his 20s) told her she was not allowed to go in because she had a guest membership and not one that she paid for, my daughter and her friend both showed him proof they they were registered and paid for a membership. They even got a voicemail from Mike, the club manager, saying all they had to do is sign once they came in. Not only was Timothy not letting them into the gym when they very clearly had a membership, he was being rude to a 17 year old girl. Planet fitness is marketed as a friendly place where anyone can work out and they did not prove that today. After all of this he told them to leave. am in complete shock with the way my daughter was treated. Workers should absolutely not treat their
PAYING customers like that.

This place is perfect for anybody looking to improve their life style. Everytime me and my buddies come in here, lyric(an employee i see often) always welcomes us with a smile on his face. He is honestly one of the most welcoming employees i have ever met.

This is my gym of choice. Friendly front desk people, the place seems to be cleaned quite often, and the updates in the locker room are beautiful. Never had an issue.

Decent starter gym, lots of equipment and helpful tips and tricks. Black card was definitely worth it for the massage and tanning beds. I left because the options for personal trainers were lacking.

They changed the white paper towels to brown trash paper towels, they stopped free pizza Wednesdays, and 4 months they have the sa.e machines broken, no repairs scheduled, what happened Planet brokeness?

The staff has horrible customer service. The girls who work the counters aren’t polite by any means and the manager won’t return phone calls. It needs a whole new management and crew running this place. I’ve heard of them canceling members memberships for poor reasons and not allowing others to cancel theirs at all. I wouldn’t recommend joining this club until it is under more caring employees

This gym is huge and they only have FOUR weight racks in the entire place. It doesn’t make sense to have the section where the free weights are be so small and crowded when nobody utilizes the rest of the machines in the gym. There should be less treadmills and more weight racks. Also there’s always people hogging the weight racks and just sitting there talking while other people wait. GET MORE BENCHES/WEIGHT RACKS!!!

I really don't like this Planet Fitness at all. It looks dirty. The staff are not very friendly. The "spa" area have the lights shining bright and the TV blaring and no remote in sight to turn it off. The massage chairs are definitely not as good as the ones in Novi and Milford. The only redeeming thing I can say is they were open today.
Update...tried to tan and the room either has the light on or off no nightlight mode then I asked for 6 minutes and it ran for 1 1/2 minutes also no trash can in the room for the paper towels. Just overall not a good experience at this Planet Fitness. Another issue was that I brought a friend with RA here because she wanted to see how it all worked and maybe give it a try and I thought using the massage chairs would be a great introduction to her and maybe get her talked into becoming a member and one of the staff told us that since she didn't have a membership she couldn't use the spa area and not 20 feet away from the desk there was a big sign that said you could bring guests and they could use the spa. Thanks Team Brighton for a fabulous experience in this gym! Top notch!

The facility is always very clean and well-maintained. There is always someone at the desk to greet me no matter the time of day or night that I go into work out. There’s so many machines I never have to wait to do what I want to do. Highly recommend!

I just moved to brighton and i can not believe the manager Julie’s attitude i had just a few questions about the gym and she was the most rude and obnoxious person i have ever had the displeasure of talking to it made me sick just how INCOMPETENT she was, VERY unprofessional and lazy >:(

Good looking gym with lots of equipment and space. After the tour I decided to sign up for a membership, but they told me they needed my checking account number? Not just a credit card? I’m not sure why this is a requirement. Just seemed weird and I’m not comfortable with that so I guess I won’t be joining. Really one major credit card should suffice. Bummer.

Update: The owners replied that their charging directing from your checking account for the clients convenience? Really? What is convenient to me is using a credit card. This policy of electronic debt from a checking account is needlessly intrusive and restrictive. I didn’t give my mortgage company direct access to my checking, you think I’m giving it to a gym? You just lost a potential member. I can only presume they have this policy to keep people from easily canceling memberships or hoping you “forget” about the fee as it isn’t on your credit card statement. Updating my rating to one star after that poor response.
