I had my crocs on that had the back strap around my heel. The staff said I couldn’t use the facility because the crocs could “slip off my feet”. I find this reasoning silly with the back strap around my heel. Even if my crocs slipped off my feet (which has never happened) I can simply put them back on. I just came after my work shift and was looking forward to a good workout and even took my preworkout.

Honestly came in to take a peak at the gym to recommend for a few clients of mines and wasn’t even allowed in because I had existing memberships at other planet fitness’s who’s balance were not up to date. I’ve been to several planet fitness and this has NEVER been the case, I informed him that I just wanted to look inside the building as a few of my clients are in the nearby area and being a personal trainer they trust my judgment. He very nastily said there’s nothing I can do about that and asked me to leave. I asked him how about you just show me around then, that’s the harm in a short walk, he proceeded to inform me that I cannot tour the gym, a simple tour. Quite honestly the most unwelcome I’ve ever felt in a facility. Never seen this dude in my life, but apparently he has something against in shape people who want to better their lives. Sucks for him and his hair. I will be reaching out to the owner personally that the athletic director of Wayne County’s Sports and Rec. department simply couldn’t step foot in a place where I thought it was a judgment free zone. Ha what a joke! I mean it is planet fitness, I guess I should have expected this type of treatment.

A tragic waste of a beautiful space and some equipment to the classic planet fitness farce.

This is not a gym - it is a performative stage for people who aspire to the appearance of fitness while luxuriating in the comfort of a “judgement free” room of fitness furniture.

Boils down to two major issues:

1. Impossible to use limited equipment due to amateur, oblivious customers who utterly waste the equipment.

Smith machines built for heavy lifts like squat, bench, incline are used for buffoons doing pelvic thrusts in brief breaks of social media use.

Further, adjustable benches are constantly being occupied by people using them as a cute bench for holding their cell phone and water.

And of course no adult free weights for fear of making their diabetic clients feel bad.

2. Disingenuous, ironic, and maddening Planet Fitness “judgement free” environment, which claims moral high ground while explicitly criticizing people who actually work out.

Lay around on equipment for an hour and judge people who work out hard? Perfect for PF.

This planet fitness is ultimately like all the rest, a collection of fitness furniture for those that resent fitness.

The crowd meeting is inaccurate. I was there yesterday at 1/15 between 4-6. The crowd meter had 2 stars out of 10 filled yet every tredmill, stair climber, every free weight bench (5) , all 3 smith machines and every other machine was occupied. The good is that it’s a Planet Fitness inside the vaunted Pistons Fitness Center. The bad is that only street (metered) parking is available, and that multiple machines here are starting to show their age. Fixing up the machines would move it to a 4, getting free parking would move it up to a 5.

Woman behind The desk ignored me for a prolonged period of time. She took many customers while pretending I wasn't there. I simply wanted to let her know at the hydro bed wasn't coming on. This happened on 9-14-2024 around 12:40pm. I'm from out of town so I definitely wasn't welcome in this gym.

Short commute from my home. Downtown. Crazy You gotta pay to park smhhh . Friendly front desk staff. Its Always clean. Butttt... they should of thought it out when putting certain equipment in. This is the smallest gym i been too. Theres no place to actually work out on your own. If it is, its a person Right next to you! No space. Its a very tight gym. More equipment no one barely uses. Only like 5 staircases, 100 ellipticals, no one ever on there, 3 weight benches, 2 sets of mirrors . You really pay for what you get. I'm definitely canceling and goin back to LAF!

The location is perfect, but the experience here is incredibly disappointing due to the rude staff. It's frustrating that in a city where we need more gym options, this Planet Fitness allows such unprofessional behavior. Planet Fitness promotes itself as a judgment-free zone, but the staff here clearly missed the memo. On several occasions, I've overheard some of the most offensive, sexist, and racist jokes coming from the front desk. I transferred my account from Grand Blanc to Detroit because I had to live at Detroit for a month.
And when I wanted to transfer back to Grand Blanc, they said I had to wait for 90 days to transfer back.
So when I called them, they said I had to come in person to cancel my membership.
When I pointed out that I remembered that I can cancel by writing when I signed up. Then, they said “oh yeah actually you can cancel with phone”.

Great atmosphere, very welcoming and knowledgeable staff, the environment is clean and inviting. Their facility is completely A.D.A. compliant. They even have handicapped accessible showers. All of these are very important to a person like me who uses an electric wheelchair for mobility with the particular medical diagnoses I have. They also have some of the same equipment that you might find in a high-end sports rehabilitation facility. I highly recommend this particular Planet Fitness location.

I've been to over 100 PF clubs, and I rate them all from 3 to 5 based on size and quantity/variety of equipment. This is a 3-star gym. It was nice, but on the smaller size. It lacks a lot of the equipment that the 4 and 5-star gyms have, and it only has one of most weight machines, whereas the bigger gyms have two.

It was maybe close to a 4-star, but the biggest negative was that they inexplicably chose to get the worst cardio machines. The better gyms all have Life Fitness, which are far superior to these terrible Matrix.

Just joined and I love it. I'm glad I picked this location because from what I heard other locations are horrible. This one doesn't have a smell, it's clean when I went in the morning no one was on the machines, people were quiet, and it was various things to watch on the many tv's, in the evening tho it was more crowded but still enough machines. The staff was very helpful. I would say bring a lock for the locker. At this location, you get a lot for the price including a trainer for 30 minutes and various 30-minute classes. Definitely, top tier and I'm looking forward to my journey with Trainer Kelly.

It’s a very nice gym! I wish though that they’d arrange a parking agreement for the guests though to get free parking in the building’s garage. I felt the signs were misleading and parked in the garage thinking it’d be validated in the gym, but left having to pay $15 after just over an hour in the gym. If you drive, your other close option is to pay to park on the street.

3/2/23 Update: They have removed the Planet Fitness signs from the parking garage signs. Paid street parking or bike/walk is the best way to get here.

Clean! I don’t feel grossed out to touch or to set my belongings down like I did at LA Fitness (Allen Park). I am getting what I am paying for at waaay better rate. The music is on point. Never heard Tame Impala at the gym before so that was nice. My first workout there fell on my arms and abs day but warmed up on the standup bike for 10mins which I always did at LA Fitness but THIS machine at PLANET FITNESS was better calibrated or something (and waaaayyy cleaner) because I had to tone down from my usual level 15 to level 7 and still never made to my usual mph. It was the best warm up in a long time.
I’m just in awe of how clean they keep things. Every 30mins the staff wiped down the equipment with many sign saying to do so before and after use which is 💯
Very happy with this change.
Parking wasn’t hard. I was expecting to walk a couple of block because it’s the new year when folks are on their resolution to get healthier I thought it’d be packed and it was 6:30pm right after work peak gym time but naw parked right out front w more spots available.

if i could give zero stars i would, when i went here before going to Edawrds no.8 for a goth night, i tried using the treadmill but there was a man on it before me, he was dripping in sweat and probably other things, once he got off, it was all over the treadmill, and i almost slipped, it also STINKED of b.o, and it would be understandable for a gym, but this was TOO far, i almost passed out as i was walking in, it was HORRID. the man on the tredmill, his name is mike and he was visiting from Saskatchewan (photo attached, real cutie if you ask me), he said in the heaviest canadian accent i has heard in my live, and my gigimimisusu LIVES in canada, "nice rack babe (sounded like bebe because of accent) wanna go for a drink at eddies" as i was already going there, i said sure, we went and had a lovley time!

Please be sure you see this comment if you are rooting for Detroit Pistons. What a joke. It states that this is the official gym for Detroit Pistons. However, the manager and the stuffs there won't let you watch Pistons game while doing cardios.

We communicated with the manager there and all stuffs for switching one TV's channel to Pistons game, but they said based on the policy, we are not allowed to switch channel. The thing is we are not asking for any unpopular channel but official sports channel. Previously, there are several channels for pistons game. After communicating with the manager, the only one channel for Pistons is gone.

If it is a game day, simply don't go to this gym, and stay home watching. Fortunately, the manager told us they had free wifi, and she said you could watch Pistons' game via your phone. Yay!!! That might be her best service and attitude towards customers since they might be worry about you doing 2 hours cardios while watching Pistons game.

Beside this, this gym has pretty much all other PF gyms' equipment, but it is much smaller than other pf gyms.

No free parking unless it is Sunday or after 10 pm.

Thus, you need to add streaming fees if you are Pistons fans and parking fees if you are not HFHS employees.
