I canceled my membership and my fiancee because they were charging me three times in one month one was a yearly fee that I hadn't even been there a month yet. And yesterday they took it upon there selves to steal money out of my account. When I called them they bull face lied and said there is nothing we can do for you..... No you meant there is nothing you WILL do for me. You can look in the computer and see we haven't been there from that date and refund me my money. You are choosing not to. And from what I see I'm not the only one you have done this to. I've seen so many more people on these comments that have experienced the same thing. Thieves! Double charged me my first month and never corrected it. Canceled my membership and they charged me not one but two fees after that, plus 2 late fees totaling $104. When I spoke to the manager to correct it, she told me she wasn't going to reverse it. I was then told if I tried to complain about it that it wouldn't matter because it comes back to the manager (her) anyways. The staff at planet fitness can do whatever they want and it's okay because there's no repercussions for them apparently. Invest in local gyms, they care about their customers

I used to love this gym but recently the staff are completely rude most of the time. The paper towels throughout the gym & soap dispensers in the bathrooms are usually empty while the garbage is overflowing. Plus they start "closing" their locker rooms over 2 hours before the gym actually closes. Time to find a new gym.

Take advantage of a teenagers money and scam them. I opened an account for myself and put my son on the account because he was under 16 months ago. When I cancelled my account a few months later, nobody said anything about him being under a different account and that I had to cancel his as well. So he wasn’t able to use the gym due to the cancellation, however, when he turned 16 and opened a membership under just him, they made him pay $50 for a past due amount. Even though I cancelled “our” membership, they were still billing for his. I will NEVER use that place again. Their “deals” they have and then scam a teenager. No such thing as customer service other than “I’m sorry”.

Great gym 🤌🏼 new home spot. I’ve came at 3am, noon, and 10pm. I’ve never had a problem getting to my sets at any time, never too crowded. The staff is always cleaning. The equipment is kept in good shape, real welcoming. The community that comes here is awesome too, I’ve went over and asked for tips in the middle of a lift from someone I don’t know and it’s been a good interaction everytime. Lifters of all levels. 👍🏼

Great gym that is open 24 hrs on certain days. Gym is located in the Birchwood Mall. I went to work out on Monday from 9:15 pm to 11:15 pm. When we walked to our car a Sheriff was there waiting for us. Mall Security called the police thinking our car was abandoned and there is no overnight parking allowed at this Mall. Wait, we were at Planet Fitness for 2 hours and Mall Security called the police on us. Planet Fitness Management should have a chat with Mall Security to avoid harassment of there customers. Good thing they didn't tow our car away!

Today was my first day at the gym and the staff was not helpful at all. They told me they put my time on there so I went in the room and they never told me how to start the bed when I got in the room, which is what I'm used to doing. So I'm waiting in the room looking for a button, get dressed to go ask the staff how do I start it the only thing they say is it kicks on by itself. So I go back in, get undressed, another 5 mi used goes by - no tanner starred still. So I get dressed again and go out there , they never set the timer apparently. So now I'm sitting in the room undressed again writing this bad review from my experience on my first day while I'm waiting for the 5 minute timer. Not a good first day

Planet Fitness: A Judgmental Disappointment

My recent experience at Planet Fitness' Birchwood Mall location was nothing short of appalling. From the moment I stepped inside, I was met with an atmosphere of condescension and disdain. The staff, rather than being welcoming and helpful, seemed to exude an air of superiority, as if they were somehow better than the patrons they were supposed to be serving.

This feeling of judgment was only exacerbated by the gym's refusal to accept US legal currency. Despite being located in the United States, Planet Fitness insisted on payment in the form of their own proprietary currency, a system that felt both exclusionary and exploitative.

But the most disturbing aspect of my experience was the lack of concern shown for my wife's safety. After Being at the guy for a few months she is leaving. Her disconfet for "creapy" men that attend is of the upmost consern to me. This blatant disregard for her well-being left us feeling both unsafe and undervalued. Even after all this I did try to go back in there and buy a pair of tanning bed glasses. I was told with no curant member ship they will not sale them to me. I do under stand that, al thow I dont agree with that business model. The problem was the extreshing from the staff menber as I wasnt good enought to buy from them. I guess my money isnt green to them.

In conclusion, Planet Fitness' Birchwood Mall location is a place where judgment, exclusivity, and a disregard for safety reign supreme. I urge anyone considering this gym to look elsewhere.

I know Planet Fitness has an image that's very meme-able. "Judgment Free" and the sense that most of the people there have absolutely no clue what they are doing in regard to fitness, this image is correct, and I am among those who know nothing about fitness or any of that stuff. I started working out at the crispy weight of 315 pounds, I had a plain shirt and gym shorts, and I only did treadmill. Today, I celebrated my 100th check-in and have lost 30 pounds, I obviously still have a long road to go, but the reason I am writing this review is because planet fitness is truly the everypersons gym. Everyone in there is at a different level, yet they are all trying to figure out ways that they can better themselves. Yes, it's a chain gym. Yes, it's commercialized. However, that's what I love about it. weirdly enough, it breaks everything down to the simplest form, and as a know nothing, out-of-shape plebian, I like that.

The chain owners a joke, when it comes to her employees trying to fight their members because they're in the way of their cleaning at night in an empty gym, then kicks you out. As long as she collects money, She does not take any complaints seriously. The manager there told me that you need a chance to correct the employees behavior. When's that going to happen, on the next lawsuit when he puts his hands on somebody? For $5 more, go to cutting edge. Guess that's what you get from minimum wage employees.

Perfect place to go! Ive been going for 8 months and ive had a good experience with all of the workers, theyre very polite and even talk with their customers, while still putting the rules in place. Getting a membership was super easy and for the price i would never complain abt going here, 10$ for access to all the main machinery is a delight. Ive made good gains going here and ive never once had a bad experience besides the ACTUAL people that go here sometimes. Other than that i love this place!!

The fact that they change the hours what feels like every other month without any forewarning is very discouraging to me trying to maintain a routine here. Combined with the fact that they removed the most important cardio portion of the 30 minute circuit has made my quick, hour long routine both inaccessible and impossible to achieve. What once was a welcoming, encouraging place to get a quick workout in to regulate emotional dysfunction has easily become the biggest source of my emotional dysfunction. I am greatly reconsidering my membership here, sad to say.

This place is very judgmental. You are not allowed to wear anything with sleeves shorter than a t-shirt or you will be asked to leave in front of other guests. They also have an alarm that goes off if they think you're working too hard and they will then call you a lunkhead and again make you leave the gym as though you have done something harmful. I used to like this gym a lot. I cancelled my membership when COVID-19 started, because the branch was temporarilly closed, OR SO I THOUGHT. Apparently this whole time they have been charging me, that's 3 years no visits, no emails that I can find about my membership, no calls, nothing. The guy who answered the phone 3 years ago when I tried to cancel must not have understood what I meant when I wanted to cancel and because of that I'm out $500. Yes it's also my fault for not noticing I was being charged, but I was locked out of my online banking on my phone. When the staff member realized what happened they simply did not care or even attempt to rectify the situation or help in any way. I understand there's not a lot she could've done but I just feel taken advantage of.

These guys close whenever they want, no warning. Some days at 7, some days at 11. I cut my day short today to come in to make sure I had enough time to use the tanning booth, but they closed that early, too. I understand the uncertain times, COVID, etc. and the implications in regards to hours of operation and schedule changes. But put a sign up front or something. Maybe send a courtesy text. When they’re not twiddling their thumbs at the desk, the staff is confrontational. I called today asking what time they closed, and was then interrogated by the staff member on the phone, asking me what my name was, if and for how long I was a member, etc. Why? Why do you need to know all that? Are you expecting a break-in or something? Absolutely 180 degrees different from my home PF in West Bloomfield, MI. Maybe they could send some of their guys here for some training, or perhaps this place could benefit from a visit from corporate? I am so angry right now with how many times these people have done me wrong here. I feel generous giving 2 stars, to be honest.

This is not the Planet Fitness that I usually go to, thankfully, or I seriously would consider cancelling my membership. I went there Sunday morning with my adult daughter (who has her own membership) and brought my 15 year old son with me as my guest. I was told I had to provide ID with proof of age for him or he couldn't come in and also had to have the App on my phone. A birth certificate was mentioned acceptable. As I don't carry around his birth certificate, we were trying to find a solution. We were met with nothing but rudeness and very much felt like we were not wanted there. My daughter and son were the ones who were able to download the app, get a proof of age online, etc.. through their own brainstorming and with absolutely NO help from the employees. Next, a second encounter with another rude staff member when I went to sign up to tan who wouldn't allow me to even sign up without "physically seeing" my eye protection. I understand policies...but was so taken back by their rude behavior I even called them out on it. I explained how rude they were, unhelpful, and not once smiled the entire time. I told them I had never been met with poorer customer service and how unwelcomed they made us feel. The response was a sarcastic "sorry you feel that way." There was one young man at the counter who was genuinely much nicer and friendly...the other two....need a LOT of training...or a new position.. I also was told one was the manager... unbelievable!

We live a hour away, we got to this location at 5am. The employees were very rude. We did not have the app on our phone. They proceeded to pretty much tell us unless we had the app we could not come in. Now keep in mind we were here last weekend and the guy looked us up with a phone number, smiled and said have a nice day! The two girls this morning. Pretty much would rather stand there instead of putting in a little effort.

Visiting from out of town and my lock didn’t fit the lockers so I kept my bag next to me for an hour while I did cardio, staff was monitoring the floor the whole time as usual. I proceeded to continue on to 2 different machines with no problem then I moved to the stretch/ab area I was approached and told I couldn’t have my bag next to me and that I had to 1) stop everything, change my shoes and go take it to my car or 2) purchase a new lock. Not a single sign was posted about this, nor were they willing to keep it behind the desk while I finished my last exercise.
