No warning when club closes. No in app notification, no text, no email. Just feels deeply inconsiderate. I had to drive all the way there just to discover that they had shut down. I could have planned to workout earlier or elsewhere if they had put the minimum amount of effort into notifying their members.

Edit update Nov. 2025: Was considering restarting my membership recently to have an option for late night workouts but they have drastically shortened their hours, making them drastically less accessible for people with non-standard work schedules.

I’m 55 years old, and I like to keep to myself and focus on my workouts. I frequent the gym between 7pm and close. This gym has been perfect for that. The members are kind, and the staff is genuinely welcoming.
Kyee is one of my favorites, always smiling, always saying hello and goodnight, and always making you feel welcomed. I’m moving a couple hours away and won’t be able to come here anymore. So I wanted to make sure to put in a review for those of you that are interested in this gym.
The equipment is always clean, I constantly see the staff wiping things down, and the bathrooms are well-maintained. The crowd meter stays pretty low at the times I go, which I love. There’s also a peaceful upstairs loft for walking, bicycling, or using the elliptical. You must pay parking, but after 7 PM it’s free.
Highly recommend this gym. I’m really going to miss it.

I travel a lot for business and I use a lot of different Planet Fitness locations. This is by far the cleanest and well-maintained Planet Fitness that I've been to. The staff really seems to be on their game. I would give five stars except for the fact that I can't figure out how to politely ask people to get off the machines because they're sitting there on their phones!

Planet fitness is a pretty good gym to work out at. However, my buddy used to have a membership and canceled it. They never canceled it in the system and they say he owes over 300$ and can't even come as my guest. He wanted to restart a new membership. This happened to my other friend as well. You guys should really not do these bad business practices.

Ran inside for less than 5 minutes, remembered we have to pay for parking, and found I already had a ticket. Not even 5 minutes. Screw this greedy disgusting city and this location is a LOSS because of it.

Honestly, the idiot-controlled music is such a turn off. Parking situation is a mess (city of GR). Otherwise, this location is usually very clean and well kept.

I am a member of planet fitness and I usually go to PF every night. Kai is usually the one working the front desk. He is very professional and takes great pride in his work. He remembers guest names and the amenities they like to use right down to the time and machine they want to use. Kai has a a great attitude and a hell of a work ethic. The amount of ppl he encounters each day is probably astounding and he still carries himself with excellence. I believe when someone works as hard as he does to make members feel welcome they deserve to be recognized.

The planet Fitness on Market in GR is definitely one of the nicer PF's. Very clean. I'm taking one star off though on account of many of the treadmills being off balance (they shake when you run) and another star off for lack of reasonable accessibility. The front door needs a button to open so people with disabilities don't have to struggle.

Nice. But parking is atrocious. If you find a spot during the day you have to pay and/or walk a block. With Founders Brewery kiddie corner, good luck doing any better on nights and weekends.

There’s a parking ramp but it’s residential. It’s ridiculous enough, I drive further out just to not chance having to circle the block for 10 mins.

This PF is beautiful with an amazing locker rooms and new equipment. However, the staff should know how to work the hydro massage beds. They literally do nothing but sit on their phones so to not be able to run a simple computer 🖥️ blew my mind. Left disappointed as I was traveling and needed that massage. It’s also surprisingly 24/7 FORREAL!

Just got $20 ticket for parking in abandoned building parking lot across the street from the gym. I think i go back to 28th st location next week when it reopens. I wish this location was open 24/7. There are many Friday and Saturday late nights that I would love to go here to workout. But other than that, this location and layout is great. I have never had an issue here. Everything is clean and every employee that I have encountered here is courteous and professional. The Zero Gravity massage chairs are incredible.

I gave 5 stars because I have no complaints other than the business not being open throughout the night on the weekends.

My favorite Planet Fitness in GR. As for parking, apparently, a few of the other reviewers have never been to a PF in cities like Philly. It makes the parking around this facility look like grandma's driveway.👵 It has a super progressive and accepting atmosphere along with friendly staff who keep it uber clean. This is the only PF in GR that is similar to big-city ones. My favorite things about it are the way they have their battle ropes set up and the fact you can look at the city while you work out in most areas. So much better than having to stare at a wall 🧱 like other dungeons I've pounded plates in. Also, I have never seen the trainer or other gym goers "starring people down," but the gun show is always open 💪

Many people complain about the parking and the cost of parking but in bigger cities parking can be upward of $50/hr. (Chicago) Nice facility and convenient for downtown living. The hours are better than most of the PF in the Grand Rapids area. There are other locations so if this PF doesn’t meet your needs there are many to choose from!

I've been coming here since it opened and have never seen so much as a piece of paper towel in the floor. Super clean. The staff are all friendly and there're tons of machines with a separate level devoted to cardio.

People aren't lying about the parking, but there are no lots for the place to even lease. Plus, there are plenty of other locations with parking lots, if it's that big of a problem.

Can get a bit busy during peak times, but if you go at the right times, even the fly machine is open.

Like others are posting, there is NO parking. It's all metered parking, so your paying around an extra $2 per visit, unless you want a ticket. This is a bit ridiculous seeing as though every other location has its own lot. How this was even allowed is beyond me.

Quit using the toilet-paper-quality stuff in the paper towel dispensers too. So cheap.

One more than one star because MOST of the employees are friendly. The "trainer" in the yellow shirt stares down anyone bigger than him (most of us).

Was very excited for this gym to open since it was so close to home. After a tour, can't deny it's a nice facility but the free weight section was so small and all the weight/smith machines were crammed around it. With the current pandemic is just didn't feel safe for people interested in weights.

Update: Due to necessity, I've been going to this gym for about three months now. It's usually not busy enough, even during peak times, for the small free weight section to affect my workout. Also, way less lunks then other gyms. Adding a star for these.

There is a big waste of space with all the cardio machines that not many use, like all the ellipticals along the front window. Also, they are always vaccumming at peak time, and right under machines that people are workout out at, very annoying. Still leaving a star off for these.

Parking is terrible, which downgrades the entire gym. Only 60 lb dumbbells. Other Planet fitnesses have 75 lb.

The layout is nice, could use more mirrors. The dumbbell area is a bit small. All equipment appears to be new.

Showers are nice but should be cleaned more often. Changing rooms and showers. Locker room is pretty big.

This PF is the closest to me but the parking is awful. No parking lot and only curbside parking, on only one side of the building. Be prepared to walking up to 10 minutes to get to the gym.

I don't feel comfortable using either of the locker rooms, but I was told I had to either leave my stuff (coat included) in my car or in the locker room.
