It hasnt been open a year yet and the main exterior doors have been broken twice since I have been going. Some of the paper towel dispensers are broken and have not been replaced. And some of the equipment is starting to see wear, like the material on the seat od one of the leg curl machines. Some of the Tv's are always off, and of course its the ones showing channel 3 local news. The staff dont do anything that I see but stand at the desk greeting people, has to be boring but while your replenishing supplies maybe test the paper towel dispenser. Maybe look at the equipment while your walking around?

This gym is the worst PF in town. And one of the worst I’ve been to, period. Get ready, show up, the parking lot is full. Nowhere to park means no way to work out. The planning behind this place was downright awful. I honestly kind of want a refund because I’ve had so many times where I can’t work out. I’ve wasted my time, I’ve wasted my money. I’ve wasted my energy, I’ve wasted my gas. I’ve never had this issue at any other Planet Fitness, peak time or not. Do something about your parking lot, or get ready to lose a lot of clientele. This place should be twice the size it is.

While our Planet Fitness in Battle Creek, MI was closed five weeks Sept. 22 - Oct. 23, 2025 for remodeling we were given the opportunity to exercise at any of the Planet Fitness Gyms in Kalamazoo, MI. Me and two other gentlemen elected to go to the Planet Fitness on G. Ave. The staff was eager to assist and answer any questions we might have. I found the facility and equipment to be very clean and accommodating. In the five weeks we exercised daily Monday - Friday at the G. Ave., Planet Fitness Club where we met a lot of super great folks who are gym members there. I would like to thank the Planet Fitness staff and gym members for there warm reception of us. I'm also looking forward to visiting once in a while to see how everyone I met is doing. In closing if anyone is thinking about joining a gym I highly recommend the Planet Fitness, G. Ave., Kalamazoo, MI location.

UPDATE 05/24/25: After long anticipating the Kalamazoo North club opening on G Avenue, we were a bit deflated that they built a mini-PF at 20,000 sq ft - - a missed opportunity based on the great crowd it has been drawing. The weightlifting machine selections are limited to one of each type, causing some wait times. They don't have the Hammer Strength machine series or the three new machines that became available nationwide the first of the year. There's potential here and room to expand the equipment selections. I hope the owners do just that as we'd love to give this club the 5 stars it deserves. They aren't quite there yet based on a need to improve and stay on top of cleaning efforts, but we remain hopeful as this is now our new home gym due to its close location to our new home. The staff are consistently friendly which creates a very welcoming atmosphere at this club. Compared to the clubs in the mid-Michigan area, there needs to be more staff commitment to keeping the club cleaner, especially the floors near the walls, in the corners, under the equipment, and in the locker rooms. Dust bunnies and hairballs grow very quickly in these environments which demands staff vigilance with vacuuming and mopping. Members really do notice when staff do a great job, and we appreciate belonging to a club we're proud to show off to our guests and future members.

Overall great gym. Friendly staff, good equipment, ample parking, not super busy like other locations. My only gripe is bathrooms aren't cleaned thoroughly enough. Gunk can be left in showers and changing rooms on ledges / floor for what I've observed up to 1 week. Smears on toilets left overnight. I'm assuming associates may just mop occassionally or quickly and call it good.

Spent years of my training at the gym down the road from this planet fitness… coming here has been a massive upgrade. I love it more than I thought I would! Very clean, non pushy staff, good music, multiples of equipment. Only downside I have is that it tends to be prettttty busy most of the time- but that just means business is going good (so I can’t be mad about that). Just takes some getting used to navigating the busyness.

The only reasons I didn't give five stars are because the shower rooms are always freezing. And after a good workout you don't want a cold room to shower in. Also there are no trainers in the gull road location. Which is suppossed to be part of my membership. Makes me wonder how hard its going to be to get time with one once they do.However the friendly and always smiling, pleasant staff make a huge impact.

Its like a mini planet fitness, way smaller than stadium and portage and less variety. Hours are weird, sometimes they close when I'm off work so I have to go to another PF. The machines are a little more cramped.

They put a lot of work into making it shiny and impressive looking, but really, this is one of the worst PF’s I’ve been to, and I’ve worked out at PF across many states in many cities for several years. It’s way too small. If you come at 5pm when most people do, there are cars lining the entrance road because there are not enough spaces to park in the lot. Yesterday I had to open four lockers to find one that wasn’t stuffed full of someone’s stuff without a lock. Not enough equipment. Honestly it’s just very crowded and makes it unenjoyable. Even checking in at the peak time is hectic, people always crowding the counter. This location should have been at least 2,000 square feet larger with more equipment in this area that is up and coming. It will only continue to get more crowded. It’s really sad that I waited for three years for a PF to open on my side of town and I still want to drive 20 minutes to the other locations in town for a better experience. Those locations are in more densely populated areas and yet not as crowded at peak times as this new, miniature version of a Planet Fitness. Put as much thought into practicality and design as you did in it being attractive looking and this would be a five star PF, but it is seriously lacking in that regard.

Switched this to my main gym before realizing it wasn't 24 hours. A lot of people are busy during daytime hours and those late night early morning hours are essential. Now I have to go back to the cruddy Stadium location. At least they're open 24 hours like any decent gym would be. Very inconvenient.

I was so excited about a 24 hour gym. It's literally why I signed up I love going to the gym at night it's so meditative to me but they're only open late on week days which like... how does that make sense for anyone lmao and I asked a guy who I'm assuming was the manager and he staunchly said "nope these are the hours they're never changing they'll always be this way" which really rubbed me the wrong way cause like... they advertised it's gonna be 24/7 and he could have at least lied and been like "oh yeah hopefully in the future" but it was just a hard no don't bug me about it again lol. Weird people behavior ngl.

It’s a nice facility because it is new, but out of all the PF locations within a 45 minute drive of my house, this is at the bottom of the list.

The parking lot is too small, and there aren’t any lines painted so people park too far apart and if they are busy good luck finding parking.

The men’s locker room is at least half the size of the other locations in the area.

They have the basic list of equipment but none of the newer stuff that most of the other locations have. None of the hammer strength machines, no incline chest press, no converging chest or shoulder presses. No hack squat, supine bench or the new calf raise machines.

For the machines, most of them they only have 1 of each. Leg extension, leg curl, chest press, lat pull down, ab crunch, etc.

They do have 6 smith machine stations, plenty of areas for dumbbells and barbells, and 3 cable machines.

I really wanted to like this location because it’s so close to home, but the Battle Creek, Stadium, and Portage locations are much better.

The schedule is kinda all over the place 24 hours Monday-Wednesday, close at 10pm most nights and 12am on Sundays. The 24 hour access is very convenient for 3rd shifters.

Just found out I’m somehow hundreds of dollars in debt to this gym!? Several other people were having the same issue with massive debts from past memberships while I was there.
Planet fitness already makes its money by selling memberships to people they know won’t use them, apparently they have to rely on predatory billing as well.

I’m waiting to hear back from management, will update this review if they do the right thing.
