It’s so clean and I always feel welcomed here. I don’t feel judged and everyone is super friendly. This location is probably the best location I’ve been to and I’ve been to the Woodhaven one and Southgate one and those are the worse. Southgate was horrible because of multiple reasons but this ain’t about them. Thank you Monroe planet fitness for getting me back into shape. The equipment is easy to use too and super new so it’s not difficult to figure out.

Came to Monroe on a trip, & the Crunch here ain’t open 24 hours like the ones in Florida. But this Planet Fitness was. When the rest of the family wanted to sit around all night, I’d sneak over here. 1hr cardio then hit all the workout stations for another hour.

I have no complaints with the company or location in Monroe Michigan as a whole. But did try to call the complaint line and use the website info to air my concern but they are conveniently not available, maybe this will catch more attention anyway. I do resent a male employee walking into the bathroom whether to clean or train, without any verbal warning as to who is in the stalls. A sign was posted at the entrance advising a cleaner coming in, but of course if you are IN THE STALL all you see when you come out is a man standing there not announcing himself. When I pointed this out he just chuckled and said, yeah.

A few years ago I had a membership and I was going through some tough times. I went in and tried to cancel my membership after my sister passed and they said that they couldn't cancel it because my latest payment didn't go through. I received the $25 fee, but it was a late fee. I asked if they could reverse that since I was trying to process my sister's passing and they told me to call the customer service line. I had to dig to find it and when I finally did, it wasn't very helpful as it only referred me to "contact my local gym". So I went back in and I let them know what happened and that I hadn't made any progress and the young girl told me "you could always cancel your card on file so you don't get charged anymore". So I did. I cancelled my card and went through the major inconvenience, just to find out that years later now that I'm done grieving and ready to lose my depression weight, that I owe the gym $200! What!? After I was instructed to just cancel my card and that would work. So I signed up for a new account and went in today to be embarrassed and told that I cannot enter until I pay $200.

Mind you, the gym was very quiet and very few people were there.

That really hurts my feelings. Especially to have an employee tell me that this same situation happened to him before he worked there.

I just wanted to lose some weight and feel better after the awful past few years. I will not try to return and I don't want you to tell me "please contact our manager to get assistance with this" because all she said was "we have to collect a debt before we can let you enter." So now I'm leaving a review since I tried everything. The number, coming in, speaking to a manager. Nothing worked. I followed the instructions of an employee and cancelled my card to find out that it kept my balance going. Thanks.

This Planet Fitness is pretty great. It has all the machines that I like to use, including the stretch cage. It has the "good" massage chairs. Not the coin ones. It also has the Cryo bed!!! I love this when im sore from the day before. Staff are friendly. Never too crowded.

I have black card membership. I drive 30 min out of my way a couple times a weekly. One why am I being asked to fill out information on a tablet you should already have. And then I was asked for glasses I HAVE NEVER BEEN ASKED to physically see the glasses. And then wanted to charge Me $6 to purchase a pair. Why do we pay for a BLACK CARD membership and you don't even provide the glasses you MANDATE supposedly. Any other tanning place PROVIDES you with the glasses and a towel and you return it. Planet fitness is a huge joke and will be going elsewhere. Shouldn't even get one star

I have a black card membership and the app on my phone to check in so why am I forced to fill out all of my information on a tablet each time I walk in?

It's inconvenient and impersonal.

I got the black card just so that I can use the massage chairs, but I'm forced to fill out my information on a sheet of paper each time I want to use them. Why?

It's intrusive and impractical.

Now I'm told that if I want to cancel my membership that I need to write a letter and buy an envelope with a stamp and send it in like it's 1991 all over again.

Why force me to download the app then if I need to do all of these other things?

I will go to another gym.

I tried to cancel my membership after they cut their hours and they did not cancel it. I went back in today after a few months and they tried to make me pay a $140 balance for the 3 missed months and late fees. The manager said that the employee should have made me sign a cancellation agreement and they never did, so they wouldn't cancel unless I brought the account current. The manager refused to cancel my membership today in person until I made her print the contract and show me why they wouldn't cancel. Once we reviewed the contract she caved and canceled the membership finally and said I still won't be able to use the gym unless I pay the balance due between when I told them to cancel the first time and today when they finally canceled.

The YMCA is the same price per year as the black card membership with badged access 24/7 and they're opening Crunch fitness just down the road soon, do yourself a favor and use one of those.

This gym is by far the best gym I've ever been to. It's small and quiet, the staff there is phenomenal! Koran is by far the best trainer I've ever had, he knows his stuff and is very easy to talk to and get along with! I highly recommend this gym to anyone especially beginners and people just getting back into working out.

Really starting to hate your atmosphere judgement free zone for who your alarm for strong ppl says different then hiring security who doesn't just drive around and observe no they stalk innocent bystanders I feel sorry for when security is needed but they are more worried if a scooter or a motorcycle can park in certain places that have no signs posted..id let em tow my property and create a big problem you guys really are starting to turn me off

The new hours are horrible. On this night they closed at 10pm and I was literally washing my hands in the bathroom and right at 10pm while washing my hands the lights were shut off in the building. They never even cleared the bathrooms to make sure everyone was out. Who does this?? The staff were so eager to get out of the building they didn’t even think to make sure everyone was out of the building. If you close at 10, I will workout until 10. You have to give your members time to get out of the building before shutting the lights off.
When I signed up for this membership they were open 24 hours and that was the biggest reason for choosing this facility due to my schedule. Time to look for a new gym that stays open 24 hours and cares about their members.

I feel good going in to workout without judgement. As a disabled woman in my early 50s the judgement free feeling is important. I love the rowing machine, the ab machines, hip abductors, glute machine, and the hydro chairs really make it worth the black card membership as does the tanning booth. The staff is always helpful, welcoming and very friendly. The only thing I wish they'd get is a thermal pool but I don't think the location would support that :-(

Edit: I think I reviewed too soon. The staff there today told my husband that the hydro chair was down (again!! It was just fixed Tuesday) so he had to use a bed (he has bad back). Yet when we were done with our massage, there was a woman using the chair they claimed was down.... The girl at counter claimed they had to unplug it and restart.... Yet no one came back there to do so during our 10 minute massage... I really feel the Thursday staff is showing favoritism or discrimination... Something . Heck when I was standing in line to complain about it they took a person who came up after me first, like I was invisible ??? The guys on Monday and Tuesday were awesome, but this bunch of young girls working today (Thursday) not so awesome! We both pay for this black card, we should be able to use whichever massage bed we want, just like everyone else!

Giving four stars mainly for the staff. They’re wonderful and always helpful and work diligently to keep it clean. I do wish the owner would fix the body enhancement machine but, besides that I have limited things I’d change. They will ask for your bank account info when signing up which is a bit intrusive. However, another local gym charged a friend of mine $200 to cancel her membership and when I contacted them about their $10 gym membership fee it was a three year commitment which is insane. Their transparency here is much better and ethical than their competitors. **cough cough free weights would be clutch.

My only issue with this gym is there is only one Nustep machine. Sometimes I can't even use it since it is always in use..why not bring in more and eliminate a couple of the elliptical machines. I was there this morning and it was a little busy and not a one of them was being used. It probably won't happen but I am sure there are others that would appreciate a few more as well.

I’m sharing this review so that hopefully the owner(s) can implement some really great ideas from other locations! I used to be a Westland location gal, then Livonia when I moved, and then Plymouth when they built the new location downtown a couple years ago. I recently moved to Carleton and this is now my closest location. Personally, I am a tanner and a tanner only p-fit user. Occasionally you’ll catch me on a treadmill and a few other machines. That being said, the tanning here is not as up to par as it could be. The beds are really old and the symbols on the buttons are all peeled and scratched and you can’t tell which buttons are which. Moving on to the room itself, there is no garbage, mirrors, or shelves like all of the other locations have. My issue with those three things is that you have to carry your paper towel out and back into the gym to throw it away after, there’s nowhere to set items or water bottles down, and you can’t see what you look like once you’re done to make sure you’re not looking like a fool. Lastly, the tanning bed sign up process is the most confusing thing I have seen. I’m including photos to show how my last location did it, but at my other locations there was no specific time slot sign up or specific bed sign up. When you walked up to the counter, there was only one sign up sheet, and you told them the level bed you wanted and how long, and then they told you what room you would be in and they gave you the velcro room # card to put on the door to show it was in use, and then you brought it back up to the counter when you were done. There was also no “closed for cleaning” times like this location has. They just cleaned the rooms when people weren’t in them. Overall though, this location is really nice. It’s clean, big, and organized. The staff are very friendly. Hopefully they can use a few of the ideas here to try and improve the tanning experience.

Standard Planet fitness, and a good alternative for a local gym. I would suggest a Black Card and working out closer to work while allowing this to be a location for occasional working out. The equipment is often taken, but if it's the second or third location in your Black Card's locations than I'd say it a good option.

I travel and have signed up with the black card! Which means I pay more for my membership! I walk into this facility Sunday 6/25 and the lady at the desk around noon tells me that because my membership didn’t originate at their location I needed to provide them with my personal information to “release their liability!”WTF?” Thats BS! Because I wanted to work out i blew it off, however when i left i was Very upset! In 2 years and working out in 28 states this is the first time i have ever had this happen!! I've been going to this gym for about 3 months now. In the beginning, the staff was comprised of a lot of younger people who would play around with each other and do more talking with one another than the guests. Now, though, it's gotten a bit better. I do choose very particular times to go to avoid the intimidating crowd and actually be able to use certain machines and areas.
