I love this location. The staff is amazing and the facility is always clean. One thing that I wish it had is a sauna. I recently went to crunch fitness with my daughter and they have a sauna in the locker room. That will be a great addition, so maybe one day. It’s a very nice, clean gym. The staff couldn’t be any better - they’re all fantastic. My big problem with this gym is that some of the members sit on the machines seemingly to scroll on their phones, with no consideration at all for others who might want to work out too. This past Saturday I waited for half an hour to get on one of the ab crunchers. Each of them had a person settled in, reading their phones. I finally gave up and decided to return Sunday morning - but once again on Sunday, each machine had a phone scroller, oblivious to the fact that others may want to use the machine. And it’s not just the ab crunchers. Any machine that has a seat seems to be fair game. I think this is terribly unfair to members who want to complete their workouts in a reasonable amount of time because perhaps they have to get back to work or pick up kids, etc. There is a bench phone scrollers could sit on or they could sit on one of the many stationary bikes and read their phones for half an hour. I really think more of an effort needs to be made to remind people to be considerate in this regard. The little signs aren’t doing it.

I've been to a lot of gyms and Planet Fitness'. This gym is my favorite so far. Everyone is pretty chill and easy going. Nice mix of people. Not many creeps if any. Good service and services. Doesn't feel like your in an underground bunker like other PF locations. Good natural lighting. Updated most of their equipment a few weeks ago too.

This is a good place but I’m disappointed that after closing to get all new machines, at least 2 of the brand new machines are not working. I prefer to do the full body circuit as I used to do the 30 minute machines that were replaced. There just isn’t enough machines during busy times now.

This oak park gym is one of the largest I'm told. Clean, bright with their signature purple color. lots of different types of weights, weight machines,treadmills,fstair climbers and 24 hours 5 days and open on 7am on weekends. The Black PF card gives you access to massage, tanning beds and other machines. Well-maintained and clean. lots of treadmills,ellipticals and large parking lot

However, the classes offered are very disruptive to a routine if you are not participating. I am often asked to relocate or forced to cut a workout short due to the scheduled classes. Entire rooms will shut down to accommodate a class with 3 participants. Only one room has a sign with class times but everything else appears to be random. It’s very inconvenient if you are trying plan a workout.

This is my home planet fitness, I live in oak park. I travel to other PF’s in the surrounding area just to get a change of scenery. Mic specifically and his team are a fantastic team. Some of the people who lift here are nasty but the team that runs the place is incredible. Always clean, spray bottles full, paper towel full, bathroom clean as best as can be (some guests are absolutely disgusting and confuse home bathroom and public bathroom) that’s not the teams fault. The team has been welcoming for the last 2 years visiting with friendly convos when I walk in and leave. Trashes are empty and there’s a clean organized vibe that can be attributed directly to Mic and his team. I can’t say the same for surrounding PF’s but this one is top tier. Only problems ive had are directly correlated to the community, not the workers or facility.

I live in Asia and stay on holiday every summer in Oak Park, subsequently I join this location two years and in July, three years.
I read about the locker room issue and it's a no win situation for Planet Fitness ( A Judgement free zone").
People today are much different than when I was a youth...and I feel terrible for the staff because they are caught in the middle...
I can say 100% that the staff at the Oak Park Michigan location are extremely friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately, it's next to impossible to please everyone in today's society....but I believe biological men shower in male( xy chromosome facilities)..and feel bad for ladies ( my opinion).
I would hate to be an architect designing newly built high schools( because of the # of bathrooms, safe spaces....).
I think Planet Fitness( Oak Park branch) is a great place to exercise, central location, very reasonable rates, friendly staff.....and look forward to working out again this July...and bring key chains for employees!

What a shame that I am typing this terrible review for the public.

I returned to Michigan again this week.

During around 15 June, I received email messages from Planet fitness about special rates/promotion until 26 June 2024.
Knowing 100% that I would be local, I attempted to join via internet.

Mistake #1..I was unable to join because I received a message, "invalid email address "...although I am responding to Planet Fitness 4x weekly emails...trying with VPN also tried to call Oak Park branch via Skype...and message " we don't accept blocked calls".

Mistake #2...Sending emails to Planet Fitness ( no telephone #), always received a " thank you for your message...someone will reply to you " 3x...still waiting.

Mistake #3...walking into the location...speaking with the location manager...and assured that I would hear back soon...because he was going to speak to the area manager....3 days ago.

I will assuredly keep you updated... and I loved Planet Fitness...always applauding staff....unfortunately not anymore.

I'm joining the Oak Park location mainly because the Desk Rep (African American Male) was so welcoming and gave me a brief tour. I only had time to check out the Massage Chair area and Bikes. He didn't try to make me take a complete tour like they did at the Redford location. The Oak Park site has better lighting too. As a Silver Sneaker member, I felt I would be safe and secure there. Not all PF locations are equal. I learned this having toured 3 sites in my area. I can't wait to start my 2x Week Self Directed Fitness Program at Oak Park to maintain the gains I made in my medical PT Treatment.
