I would like to kindly request a change in the closing time for our Planet Fitness branch on Wednesdays. Currently, the 10:00 p.m. closing time is causing inconvenience to many of our friends and fellow members, several of whom have unfortunately stopped coming due to this limitation.
We sincerely ask that you consider extending the hours to match the rest of the week — ideally from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. This change would greatly benefit members with varying schedules and help retain our community.

I brought my wife to the gym for the first time. Wanted to show her around and was ready to get her a Black Gold membership if she liked the place. While I was trying out one of the massage chairs, she got curious and sat in my spot just to see how it works.
Almost instantly, a staff member rushed over and, in the most disrespectful tone, told her to get up. I’ve been to gyms in over 80 locations , and I’ve never seen worse conflict handling from a service employee. There must have been a hundred ways to handle the situation calmly and respectfully — but he chose the most confrontational, inappropriate approach possible.
Well done! That staffer just cost you two potential long-term clients. Give that man a raise — he’s really working hard against your business!

There is mold all over there air shafts and a large fan circulating the mitoxin all over the gym. as someone who has battled mold poisoning for several years mold is not something you want to mess with it’s fat soluble, and it’ll cause you to lose your mind and your hair. The facility is clean and the staff are really helpful. The massage beds are fantastic and the tanning beds do not burn. One thing I like is the vibrating red light therapy that they have for the Black memberships. I often see people miss using the 30-minute circuit HITT room, and I like to use it. It smells good and the bathroom mirrors are always clean.

Pretty great gym. Staff is friendly and professional. I have never had a problem with any other members looking at me or getting in my face. The lunk alarm has never gone off lol.
Not the gym to go to if you want the cleanest locker room / shower area. Bring. Shower shoes. That goes for any gym but especially any planet fitness.
Beyond that, the machines are in good condition. All the water fountains work. The lockers are never completely full, you'll always be able to find a large on. Massage chairs and hydro beds are generally available, you have to ask and scan your phone as well as sign in to get one. There is adequate cleaning solution and paper towels to clean your machine before and after you use it, as well as for the beds and massage chairs.

Stadium drive planet fitness sucks. The showers slanting to the drain hurt my back. The planet fitness here on south westnedge is fairly clean. Kylea and Lisa are super friendly and understanding. They are always attentive and doing their job. I've often seen the staff at Stadium drive just talking to people just to chat while I was trying to buy drinks (they leave the cooler unlocked and I probably could walked off without paying). But South Westnedge staff are always ready to help you get a beverage from a locked cooler.

really wanted to get back into the gym and start that journey with one of my used to be favorite locations but sadly the hours are actually horrible for 3rd shifters and completely going against what made the gym great for many :/ basically forcing anyone who wants 24/7 access HAS to pay $28 a month for a black card just to drive to another location that is 24 hours like stadium. Causing members to spend more in gas and time in a drive which will deter them further from going to the gym... Gyms are supposed to be making the environment and process inviting and accessible... oh well... I guess it's time to try a new gym. Does anyone have any suggestions for an actual 24HR gym in the portage area?

Note: I typically go early mornings for context.
Morning staff is consistent on friendly customer service (hi/bye) and cleaning during the week. This includes making sure that the paper towel dispensers have, ya know, paper. Garbage emptied. This has not been my experience on other shifts @ this location. A lot of staff @ front desk talking/on phone, no one even greeting you. I have been a member almost 10 years.
The biggest gripe with the gym @ present it staff not pushing those who tie up machines off of them. If you are spending more time on your phone/chatting, than actually working out, you need to be pushed off the machines and hopefully out of your membership.
You are at the gym for a reason. Leave your phone in the locker!

I always enjoy working out a Planet Fitness. My obe compliant is that the crowd meter on the app doesn't seem to be very accurate. When I went yesterday, there were only 3 of 10 bars filled, however, most of the weight machines were in use and close to half of the treadmills were being used.

Facilities are clean and well kept. The staff are friendly and helpful. I often go at night when there are not many people around, and I can easily get access to all the equipment I want to use without waiting. I have been going here for 2 weeks now and have no complaints so far. It is also a very good value for the money, especially when the deals are on.

It’s got all the good parts of a Planet Fitness (good equipment package, low cost, amenities) but terribly managed.
I’m sure the workers are all nice people. Just not trained.
After my second time joint this club, just canceled again. I’d rather workout at home than sit and watch people wait for equipment that thoughtless senseless members hog without management addressing it.
You’d think pointing out the problem in real time would help. Nope. Not if the employees are unwilling or afraid to address it. Easier to let all the others stand in line waiting. Sad.
As a former gym manager myself, I can tell you the only way it’ll change is if all the other members who tell me they hate it let management know. It’s uncomfortable I know but these gyms are supposed to be for the majority of members. Not the few bad ones who can ruin it for everyone else.

I go into the Portage PF and a little kid name Alex told me that I owed $60! I paused my membership and he’s telling me that it was suspended. How can I owe $60 if there’s no contract as they advertise?
It’s a new year and I’ve been running everyday since December 28th. It’s raining now and I’m going to have to run in it!

I was visiting the Portage area and signed up for Planet Fitness so I could travel around the US and still have a gym to use. I canceled my membership in October (at another location) and got confirmation that I was no longer an active Planet Fitness member. I then proceeded to get charged for the next 2 months. When I called to inquire further, the Portage location told me that I could not get a refund for the last 2 months of billing (even though I received confirmation of the cancellation) because I had canceled at a different location. I was unaware that the memberships needed to be cancelled at the branch it was opened at, and the staff never informed me of this important detail.

Nov 20th - I went in to cancel my membership in person, for the second time (see below). I told the clerk I wished to have proof in writing of the cancellation. I signed the appropriate digital document. She printed off the cancellation, and, low and behold, it did Not cancel the membership…. She had to return to her computer, correctly cancel the membership, reprocess, and print it.
As stated below, read other reviews with similar stories regarding non-cancellation.
This is Portage PF’s error.
Correction to below - After cancelling a second time, I now remember signing their electronic pad at the March cancellation.
Original:
I canceled my membership in person in March, the exact day I started a new gym membership. The person I dealt with at this location said I “was all set”. I forgot about it. I was reviewing my charge bills recently and they never took me off auto pay. I called and spoke with regular staff who told me, “You didn’t cancel”. I asked them to review my records and they could see that I had been attending regularly and then I have zero visits since late February.
I spoke with a manager and he repeated the same information - “You didn’t cancel” was again the response. I had to have “proof”. Proof does not exist, as the PF employee didn’t give me proof. There are no email notifications that your card is being charged. I asked the revolving manager, “Why would I lie to you about all of this? How could I make this up? I can show you the paperwork from the new gym backing up my story. You can see that I didn’t visit since February, after being a regular visitor.” He said he didn’t think I was lying, but “that’s the policy”.”You didn’t cancel” He cannot do anything about it. So - he acknowledges that common sense indicates I did indeed cancel, but he still will not refund my money because of what the “screen” says and “policies”.
When I asked if I could speak with the owner, he said they are a subsidiary of Morgan Stanley and there was no one else to talk to. He said I would mot be getting my money back because, again, that’s “policy”.
If you need to cancel, get it in writing as well as on video that you have done so. No one is capable of common sense and cannot look beyond policies and “what the screen says”.
Please read numerous other reviews that have very similar stories regarding cancellation.
You can judge for yourself as to whether or not it’s intentional.
The reasons I left were:
The entire place smelled like pot.
There used to be employees regularly cleaning and replenishing paper towels, etc. The last year or two = rare, at different times of the day.
There’s 4-5 employees consistently standing around at the front talking to each other and doing absolutely nothing. They have automatic check-in from your phone app. What in the world to they need 4-5 employees standing there for? They would sometimes take the scanner, hold it up, and scan your phone. Oh, so helpful…

I love Planet Fitness, however there's two things I don't like. I don't like the fact that you have to have no open toed shoes,even in the Hydro Massage bed. The other thing is. The 3rd shift workers aren't very friendly. Other than that I love this place,because I love all the machines and the no slamming weights rule. I do like being able to go in whenever I want. I went also to the Stadium location in the afternoon. They were very friendly in my opinion. So I would of gave 5 stars however the friendliness factor overnight and the open toed shoes makes it a 4. I have Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome. Flip flops are way more comfortable for me. The YMCA allowed me to wear Flip flops. 😎

I would like to give zero stars. The lack of respect for customers time and space. The lack of information about policies, and the way the staff went about letting me know of this policy that I am breaking since day 1. There is no equipment available, apparently they keep some behind the counter and you are supposed to ask for it. I didn't know that, I spent a bunch of money on Amazon for ankle straps, bar bell foam and other items that I used to carry on a bag, almost 5 days a week, I didn't skip a week, for 6 months. Now in the middle of my workout I had staff come to me, to tell me I could NOT have this bag there with me, I was not aware of the policy, I was not aware the equipment was available behind the counter, and they came to me without a solution, they didn't offer a solution, they just cornered me in the middle of my workout instead of approaching me when I come in or when I'm leaving, in a respectful way. Or realized how is she supposed to know she cant have her equipment bag with her if there are no signs if no one ever mentioned anything. How are we supposed to know we can ask for equipment at the counter? Why are you not taking care of your customers instead you choose a borderline harassment way of approaching this policy, making your customer feel unsafe, cornered, I felt like I was doing something wrong when that was not my intention, and it was completely unnecessarily. They lost 2 memberships today, mine and my gym friend that was baffled with the situation and agreed this gym was no longer a safe place for us to come. Along with several regulars that watched the whole thing, and were also baffled at staff and the way they handled this. And I want to clarify the issue was not the policy, I respect that. But it was the lack of information to your customer along with the lack of respect for my time and space and my sacred time that is the only time I'm not working or being a mom, is my work out time and to disrupt that in such a disrespectful way was unacceptable. Also, they did that on the day, that everyone gets charged for the membership - coincidence?
- Just want to update after management contacted me they are still not taking responsibility for what happened as far as, how the lack of information is available to customer to know of these policies as well as, they blamed previous staff for not applying these policies explaining why i didnt knew about them and now they are saying the new staff is still learning the policies and all I can get from these "justifications" is that you guys don't know how to train your employees. Your staff is not trained on how to talk to and approach their customers and how to imply policies, and trust me, management to management, an untrained employee - not saying a bad employee - an untrained one, can ruin a customer experience. So hopefully you guys learn from this and not think I am being too sensitive because my experience this morning was the worst I have ever had at any place of business, by far. And I have never on all my years and experience in the customer service business would have and have had treated a customer the way I was treated today.

Came from out of town and used this location for two days at different times of the day. Both times I got a good workout in and was impressed by the size of this location, the tall ceiling really opens it up. Didn’t see any machines down and the locker room was clean. Benches were usually busy but it wasn’t a lack of them, just high demand. Can’t speak for management or the like but it was a good gym when in the area.

I've tried to cancel membership numerous times, the associates inside are not able to cancel meetings or in refusal and it's becoming ridiculous at this point, I've came in August 15th 2023 with a written claim to cancel and now I call back today to speak to Hannah at your local portage facility with alot of arrogance in her voice and condescending remarks saying nothing is in the system where I tried to cancel. This establishment has not been professional and I demand results.

Great place to workout! I love this location as all the equipment is nice, newer, and clean! Management is great, especially Grace and Sean. The staff is always friendly and welcoming.

Kids who stand and talk and the management refuses to do anything about it. Doesn’t seem very fair to the paying customers. I’d highly recommend not joining here if you’re considering it. Trash is full, no paper towel yet the staff stand behind the counter screwing around. Quite a shame. Gym has a lot of potential

Would appear that their trainer Cindy I believe she said her name was is on a power trip. Literally in the middle of a workout when she comes and interrupts myself and others working out nearby to tell us we need to be rotating machines. I understand but I was on a second set with absolutely no one waiting. She then moves on and starts correcting others in another area. Let people workout, that’s what we are paying to do. We are all adults, we don’t need to be micromanaged. This used to be my home base gym, glad I switched to another location that doesn’t have staff that harasses the members.

10 months later, they have new machines but at any hour staff could still care less about anything. Huffy bros are stomping around and dropping weights. Would not recommend going here if you're a female. Eyes are going to be on you the entire time and the staff won't take action for anything. Worst location I've been to in the nation.

Really hope there's cameras in the parking lot. I was walking to the car and saw someone messing with my Camaro. About to break the window. Until they saw me walking up. I looked online and there's been multiple car break inns at planet fitness parking lots. Because people leave there wallets in cars. Please get cameras in your parking lots.

Overall a great facility compared to other gyms in the area. Between guests and workers, it's the cleanest gym I've been inands the equipment works great. And if you're sore there's multiple massage chairs and beds.

They say you need to go in to cancel your membership. Good luck! 2X of going in and they're still billing me, denying me access, but taking my money! The guy on the phone said I won't make you come in again, but regional won't give you your money back. I actually tried to sign in was told I hadn't paid even though they'd charged my account. I was told my card didn't go through so my account was canceled, after I had canceled my account and was charged. Then was charged again!
