As far as Planet Fitnesses, this place is pretty clean and the hours are decent.

Biggest complaint with this location is the recent remodeling that they did. While I appreciate all the new Cardio equipment, a lot of the actual machines for lifting weights are out-dated and need to be changed out IMMEDIATELY! I travel a lot and have been to a lot of different PF locations, most of which have more updated lifting machines with the automatic counters and timers, which are VERY helpful for working out. These would be an excellent update now that all the Cardio equipment is swapped.

For the size/volume of business that they do compared to other PF locations, there is no excuse for not having state-of-the-art/updated equipment in Rochester Hills, MI!

I drive a truck and travel around the country so I am at Planet Fitness at least three times a week in a different city. This was one of the nicest ones I've been to they have the new cryo bed which was really nice and the staff were extremely helpful next time I'm in the Detroit area I will be back

Planet fitness is great. I used to go to the Utica location, but I moved to the Rochester location because a change in living situation. They are literally everywhere so if you are going somewhere on the other side of town running errands and want to work out afterwards, you can almost guarantee that there is a location nearby. The gym is organized to be a no brainer. In my location the Upper body machines are first then core then lower. There are diagrams on each machine showing how to use them and what muscle group they work. I talked to a trainer that was on the floor and asked questions about using each machine. They are so easy to use with comman sense. I love that planate fitness is for average people that want to be fit. There are lots of other machines that I won't talk about. I will never go back to my $130/month gym.

Planet Fitness (Rochester Hills, MI) is extremely fortunate to have Ryan Maddock as a Personal and Group Fitness Instructor. Ryan's positive attitude and encouragement were extremely evident.  In small group classes, Ryan gave members ways to modify their exercises if they had a physical limitation or pervious injury. At the beginning of class Ryan gave a great overview of the session. Ryan explained the benefits of each exercise, demonstrated the proper form and stressed the importance of training safely! During one-on-one training, Ryan listened with intent to understand my goals and he tailored my workout. His classes, both group and individual, were the perfect mixture of fun, hard work and satisfaction!

Went in and the front desk girl with glasses had to scan my pf black card 3 times before it registered. Not a big deal. But each time and attitude. Not once was I greeted. Was not liking the fact I was their. Then she asked the gm to help me because she clearly couldn't. The gm asked me if i was the one swearing at her days before. First off no. And second who ever was swearing at her she most likely had it coming. You say it's a judgment free zone. How can that be if staff has and attitude with the clients and they don't feel welcome. And apologies don't need to come from the person in charge of answering the reviews. It needs to come from the staff and management of the facility and location of which you signed up at. Not asking for any hand outs or free anything. Just to hold your peers accountable when they are in the wrong.

I had the greatest experience working out at this club! I lived in Rochester Hills for a few months, and this gym was the highlight of my stay. I couldn’t be happier with the atmosphere, cleanliness, friendly staff, and the overall decency of the members. On top of that, the membership rates were very affordable.
I’m truly happy and satisfied with my choice, and I highly recommend this gym to anyone looking for a great place to work out!

The staff at the front desk at the Rochester hills Michigan location are horrible!! Daniel who I’ve had check me in a few times, never once said hi how are you? Not even a smile, not a single word. He just looks like he hates his life and very miserable. The girl who checked me in today was just the same. No smiles when you walk in, it makes you feel like you’re a bother when they have to scan your phone. Shame on all of them at the front desk, they need to clean house and get employees who want to work or talk to your staff and tell them to be more polite and put in effort. It sounds like this will be every time I come in and I’ll have to go to another location. Management, DO BETTER!

I love this gym! I have been a member since they opened in 2014. Charlene (manager) & Brandon (assistant manager) keep the gym running smoothly. Really wish there was a rock wall or a pool! But hey, this place is great even without. Everyone here is very respectful, wears plenty of deodorant and makes sure to follow the rules. In my ten years here, I've never heard the Link Alarm once, because I've never seen them ned to use it! The weights are heavy and the treadmills are sweaty, just like it always should always be

This is to the owner. I have already asked management about heavier dumbells and they said you wont because it will cost you more for insurance. So is that it? Other locations seem to do just fine offering dumbells up to 75 lbs.

I’ve been a black member of PF for almost 5 years. I don’t know what it is- but almost every single employee at the Rochester location seems to be trained on how to be rude and unwelcoming. They don’t even look at you when you come in & scan your card. Sometimes they just leave the scanner out, even if they are standing there (but are probably busy chatting with their coworker).
They don’t respond to my hello or good month. And they completely ignore you on the way out. I’ve been to many other locations, and all employees always greet you in and wish you a good day out. This location is literally the only exception I’ve seen to that.
Unless it’s just me and they have a problem with how I look? (Which would make this review even worse).

I have been going to the lake Orion planet, fitness location for the past year until a couple months ago I decided to try to Rochester location since it's closer to my house ! I’ve been using this gym a couple years and go about 3-4x week. The staff is so friendly (shout out to the manager Bill) the building and equipment is maintained and clean and there is just a great vibe and atmosphere. This place is great but I really don’t like every time I go there for my 30 minutes work out somebody is working out there not following the circuit at all. The only reason why I got my membership in this place it’s because of that 30 min circuit.

Is it very difficult to hang a BIG advertisement to say that space is only for those of us who really follow the circuit?
It’s important to be clear this issue is not only for Rochester location. That happen to me no matter what location I go. Really annoying.

There is a blonde manager who is the reason I won't be going to this gym ever again. I had to listen to her bark orders at the poor guy just trying to do his job + customers who she went out of her way to address. NOT A WELCOMING ATMOSPHERE. What's the kicker? Everytime I have been to this location, there is always an issue, from cleanliness to staff selectively enacting policies amongst patrons. I've never experienced a franchise so poorly run with no cohesive standards. Today was a new low in making me feel so physically uncomfortable I left immediately after being scolded I had been on the premises for two minutes in total. Definitely not returning, this location has been given a multitude of chances to course correct. Zero out of ten stars.

Updated: after the last review, the weight machines have been completely replaced, along with a lot of the staff. The new staff along with the guys that have been there for a long time are friendly and even remember your name when you're there regularly. They're good with cleaning and seem to always have at least one person walking around and cleaning. Individuals still don't clean their machines, so just clean before and after use.
Could use a few more weight machines or free weight benches but overall its A LOT better.

I've been going to this Planet Fitness for about 7 years. I've never been to a gym that has been kept up as well as this one! ALWAYS very clean and the equipment is kept in good working order. The manager, Bill, is truly THE BEST! Very cordial and he works his rear end off keeping the place in tip-top shape. I've been to other PF's and they aren't kept as nice as this one. I've been going to here for more than a year right now.
It has all the machines and free-weights that you need for your workout. Plus they have renewed almost all the machines + the addition of the TRX & pull-up bars.

Pd: would be nice to have a bench or support to be able to use the new pull-up bar with the bands, right now is impossible if you are short

The staff are very kind and helpful/attentive and make you feel important/valued especially Bill. Love Bill and all his staff!! Super clean facility and am always seeing staff clean as well as other members after using equipment. Spacious and well kept. Love the amenities and vibes. Have been recommending to family and friends. Really impressed by my experience so far (plus great cost for black card). Unlimited gym, tanning, hydromassage, chair massage, red light therapy and more for like $24!

Best gym in town, I use to be a member at Crunch but left due to weights being left around by other members and never seeing anything getting cleaned by any member or worker. At Planet Fitness the members here are a lot nicer, I always see a lot of them cleaner their own stuff after use and seeing the employees clean as well often. Weights are always racked up and the gym is large and has a lot to offer so I'm never standing around waiting for a person to finish to be able to use a machine I wanted. I'm a black card member and pay $25 a month which is less than I was paying at Crunch Fitness.

Here are the pro's and cons. Pro, it is a very good sized Gym. Pro. The staff is friendly and helpful. Pro, great prices for joining a Gym. Pro. It is very close to me. You can take classes of your choice, that works around your schedule. Con, when I signed up. I had a bit of trouble hearing the front desk clerk. No biggie. I love the app. You can track your fitness activity, and see the improvement in your fitness.

This is one of the worst plant fitnesses in the area. It has nice and clean equipment but I would suggest not speaking to the manager. She was rude and unhelpful. I had an issue with my bill and the manager told me “well I could cancel you right now”. I’ve never been threaten to not give my money to a business. They really don’t care here.

Just started going to this facility a couple of months ago. Very spacious and not too crowded. Well cleaned and kept up. Only downfall is an employee by the name of Bill. I thought it was just a one time thing with him being rude to customers, but that is not the case. I have witnessed on numerous occasions his lack of respect for others. To them directly and when he thinks no one can hear him. Very unprofessional in his demeanor and in my opinion, shouldn't be allowed to work with the public seeing that he doesn't seem to have retained any people skills growing up. I will definitely be finding myself another Planet Fitness location to work out at.
