The "crowd meter" is useless. If it shows only 2 bars, and the lifting area is already beyond capacity. They have too many arobic machines while while people are waiting to use the resistance area. Someone from managment needs to take 2 minutes and observe what people actualy use and need more of.

They were allowing a staff member and their significant other to have "relations" in the black card spa. The "couple" had been caught multiple times, but continued this gross behavior, and even when management had been contacted with this information 3 separate times, they neglected to do anything about this. The worker eventually quit, but neither of the couple were banned from the gym as they should have been. They failed to keep our children and everyone in the gym safe during this time, so we will no longer be back.

It's probably one of the better planet fitnesses in the area. That's comparing the two in Taylor, the two in Dearborn and the one in Southfield. It has newer equipment, a pretty good layout with newer functions, and clean. And the staff is friendly and members seem content. What else do you need in a gym?

Really don’t love the renovation. Less ab and leg machines leaves me walking around watching and waiting for someone to get off. Not everyone knows how to or wants to use racks. Been trying to get used to it but just feels less inclusive than before. If you’re someone who relies on machines, make sure you tour the gym first.

So far so great! We have really enjoyed the gym here! People are so friendly and helpful. Especially Mary at the Southgate location!! Mary helped my son out one day in a very mins way. She also is very knowledgeable in talking with her!! She gave me some wonderful tips and tricks on ice baths!! Overall Mary is kind and has and awesome personality!!!

Terrible customer service. Rude managers, billing police is a scam. I cancelled my membership due to a billing issue and being incorrectly charged a late fee. They still charged my card after without my consent and refused to refund me the $15 late fee. I would not recommend. They do not know how to treat their customers. Go anywhere but here.

Terrible customer service. I updated my payment method and it didn’t go through on their end, so they charged me a $15 late fee. Went into this location and tried to explain what happened. I told the manager when I updated my payment method and he ultimately told me I was lying. He stated that billing had been trying to reach me since June 17th and it was the 22nd. I let him know that I only got one text stating that it didn’t go through and that was on the 22nd. I let him see the messages I had received and the most recent one being from June 22nd. He then looked me in my face and said “Well it is really easy to delete text messages”. Cancelled my membership and will never be back. Would not recommend.

I have been going to this location for years but they just did some improvements and took away some machines that alot of people used to use including myself. They also took away all the space for us individuals that workout on the yoga mats so now we have to find a space in the corner somewhere or next to a machine. I will be canceling my membership.

I recently visited this location and was not allowed to workout because of the cut-off shirt I was wearing. I had visited this location the week prior with the same shirt and did not encounter any issues. The manager explained that this location is franchised and not a corporate location and that their policy differed. She told me I should try the location in Taylor since it did not fall under her zone, which I did and had no problems. On the plus side, the staff was very polite, particularly the gentleman. They also have equipment that I’ve not seen at any other location including plate loaded machines and a new half rack area.

They got rid of at least four machines that I use three times a week. The new ones have way less range of motion so you can’t even get a full pump and are all at an angle so you’re not even lifting the entire weight. None of these new machines are meant for people over 6 feet tall. I’ve been going to this gym for Nine years now, and I think I might go somewhere else.

Unfortunately the latest “improvements” to the gym will force me to look elsewhere for a place to workout. They got rid of at least 5 machines I used to love and the “new” ones that replaced them force an awkward posture and offer less extension. I’m not sure who asked for the latest changes but they definitely did not improve the gym. There are less ab machines, less upper body machines, and less leg machines. I wouldn’t of minded if they rearranged the space and added some new stuff but they got rid of a lot of great machines (why didn’t they just put them against the East wall where there is now a ton of empty space?) and replaced them with “new and improved” equipment which nowadays means it is worse, apparently.

I’ve been going here for 5 years, I would love to give this place a 5 star cause it helped me get in great shape, but it’s gone downhill and it will get even more so in the future.

There’s not enough free weights (dumbbells and isolation equipment) and there’s barely any machines that target deltoids or lower back.

The $1 down promotion gives a ton of people who don’t respect the gym to come around and do whatever they please and the gym staff does nothing at all.

It used to be empty at 1-4am and now we get a bunch of kids that sit on dumbbells on their phones, so seriously this gym is only good for its 24/7 in the area. All the other gyms in this area are quite the same, rude ignorant people walking around like they own the place and the gym staff get paid minimum wages to say hi and bye. These gyms will always be low quality due to your lack of compensation to the staff and no training, i used to work as a gym staff and this is exactly how it goes, you’ll see a new employee staff every week due to their turnover rate cause their management is weak.

The gentleman that works nights / morning 4am is never to be found in waited for 20 minutes by the desk to use the hydro bed and tanning 2 days in a row and once last week. When I asked other staff they said that he's always doing it. I get one hour a morning to work out and use the hydro bed so when I have to wait that long to find out the guy was working out or in the shower it's BS. Other then this one guy the gym is great and clean.

Mary is the best, she gives the best tours of the black lounge area. Though we cannot use some of the features the lounge beds are the best. My fiance and I have been working on building our confidence. I hit 300 lbs this year and it was a big wake up call. From any female worker or male worker the staff does a great job and keeping things handled.. The blond girl at the front desk is great. The tall black women is very friendly and spunky. A guy with glasses more on the afternoon shift is also great. Sorry idk everyone names but planet fitness should do something to recognize this location. Also maybe a scale in the black lounge area possibly?

I think overall planet fitness is a great gym option with great amenities, but the only reason that I did not choose this gym is because they offer many tanning types except for sunless tanning.
Some people cannot use tanning beds due to illness or just because they want to help preserve their skin without the extra UV rays but still would like to have a radiant glow! I do know that planet planet fitness offers sunless tanning at other locations outside of the state of Michigan and hoping that they will bring it here! I spoke with Mary at the Southgate store and she was very helpful and very knowledgeable.

Even though I couldn't get a job there. The people there are always nice. The facilities stay moderately to somewhat clean more sold in other gyms.But jim's if I had to rate cleanliness I'd give it a seven out of 10 I'm just a perfectionist though so Don't take my word for it. Other thanot, it's always a comfortable environment. I've never witnessed any negativity up front or outright walking into the door.

The equipment in good shape. the staff is extremely friendly and helpful, very clean and it’s well maintained, there’s plenty of parking out front, all the amenities of an typical PF gym, although like most there is an over abundance of treadmills and elliptical and I do wish there were more upper body machines, seated chest press, overhead lat pulls, etc. but all in all it’s a good facility the 30 minute circuit area is located towards The back of the gym Which helps the beginner be a little bit more confident.

The cleanliness was impressive and how they require the wiping down after each use of equipment is appreciated. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable and Brett was our group trainer, tonight...he was AMAZING! He didn't make me feel pressured to work out, or guilty nor embarrassed, but rather, he opened up about some of his past challenges and how he's since overcome them. I reflected about my 2 hour work out, while enjoying the fabulous jet bed and massage chair before leaving. I feel "good" about my day/about myself!
