I regularly frequent give Planet Fitness around Detroit. This is my favorite facility for working out. It has great equipment, lots of Smith machines, and doesn't feel cramped. However, if your planning on using the showers on the men's locker room, you might want to reconsider. Every time I've used it, there are tiny flies in the showers, indicating something going on with the drains. I mentioned this to the desk once and they said they would check into it. Last time I needed to shower, the back two showers smelled distinctly of sewage. I moved to the first one because I had no other choice but I do so I can now to plan to make it home to shower when I come here now.

I was in sunday between 2 pm and 4 pm Nov 16h. The lady that set my tanning bed didn't ask me how long I wanted before she automatically set it to 12 minutes. Im irish and pale. 12 minutes is way too long. She told me afterwards that I should have told her before.. ummm.. no. She should have asked before!!!!. Just looking at me i can't take more than 5 minutes. This is a serious safety issue and I should have been asked!!! I have always been asked forehand. Why didn't she just ask???? Rude and dismissive. Can't even turn the bed off early.. I TRIED!!. FIRE HER AND HIRE SOMEONE ELSE THAT CAN ACTUALLY DO THEIR JOB!!. This is a serious safety issue!

I love this planet fitness! I drive past another location to come to this one. It is always clean, the staff is extra friendly and always working their tails off! It seems like Steve the trainer does not take a day off and always has a class going. The actual space is large and there is an adequate amount of equipment. I wish I knew more of the front staff names to shout out because they seriously are always working so hard!

The stars are for some of the staff and the fact that it's clean. Unfortunately, this location has a really long turn around time to fix machines that are not in service. The biggest issue for me, though, is that there is no air circulation in the free weight or TRX/stretching areas. The only two fans are right above the cardio machines which is a good place for them, but its way too hot. According to staff the air is on the level it's supposed to be on, but I'm not sure if they realize that with 50+ people working out heavily, it's really hot in there and therefore quite smelly on really hot days. Whatever the air is on, it needs to be at least 3 degrees lower than it is. Unfortunately I have had to cut workouts early or not go at all because of the heat and stagnant air.

As a licensed journeyman carpenter with extensive travel experience across various states, I have recently become aware of a limitation associated with the Black Card membership. Specifically, the membership restricts access to a maximum of ten visits per location, excluding one's designated home gym.

This location has provided the worst customer service I’ve experienced at any Planet Fitness and the weirdest. For example, during one visit, I noticed someone pacing near my shower stall. When I opened the curtain, I saw him watching me shower? When confronted, he claimed he was looking for his phone and tried to hand me a pair of boxers he believed were mine—while he was also unclothed. I immediately reported the incident to an employee at the front desk named Jason.
Jason then claims that was his friend and that he was just looking for his phone. I said, "I witnessed something else, and who looked for their phone naked at a public gym?"

A week later, Jason brought up the incident again unprompted and showed me a photo of feces in a shower, which I found extremely inappropriate and unprofessional. I was very unpleased.

"Jason consistently initiates unsolicited conversations with me each time I visit, which has made me increasingly uncomfortable. "Last night, Jason exhibited a disrespectful attitude toward me when I was unfamiliar with the policies for 10 visiting a non-home gym.

I've had a Pf membership. Over a decade, I will be canceling, I'm never coming back. Might report this to corporate.

I had an extremely disappointing experience at this Planet Fitness location on Thursday, March 20th, at 11:00 AM. The staff member at the front desk, Jake, displayed a complete lack of customer service and professionalism. From the moment I walked in, he was condescending and unhelpful.

When I attempted to check in with my Black Card membership (which I’ve had for over two years), I was informed that my account showed as overdue due to my previously stolen card being canceled. I was unaware of this issue and was ready to update my payment method immediately. Instead of calmly explaining the situation or informing me that I could still work out that day, Jake chose to make snarky remarks about how I had “let it lapse” and warned me in an unnecessarily rude manner that my membership would be canceled after a week of non-payment.

Thankfully, another staff member stepped in and reassured me and my mother that we could proceed with our workout and handle the issue later—something Jake failed to mention. However, the damage was already done, as his unprofessional attitude left us frustrated throughout our entire visit. To make matters worse, as we were leaving, he continued making condescending remarks.

This experience was enough for me to decide I won’t be returning to this location. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and addresses Jake’s behavior. No paying customer should have to deal with this level of rudeness.

I guess you don’t care about getting new members. Woman Employee with red hair and glasses at 5:45 pm had a bad attitude. I asked to take a tour and then sign up for the black card. She acted like I was bothering her and directed me to the guest sign in with a link sent to my phone make a PF account and to complete the steps. I was going through the steps process when it asked for payment information. I went back over to her and said that I got to the one step asking for payment information and that I’d like to take a tour and fill it out after. She paused and said “oh, so you didn’t complete it then” in a snotty way, and then she said that she wasn’t trained to give a tour and would have to ask someone else.

At this point I really didn’t want to spend my money in here. The staff at the desk were chatting it up with gym members, but I was treated like I was not welcome when I was expressing interest and about to spend money. All of the employees gave me an attitude. It wasn’t worth it to me so I told her and the other employee she’d gotten that I had to get going as I had somewhere else to be.

I do not know why I was treated like a bother for wanting to take a quick walk-around when I was going give my money to your business, especially since I was going to get the black card as well. I assume the gym environment and equipment reflects the treatment I got from staff, so I’ll go elsewhere. 👎

Great gym—clean space, friendly staff, and excellent equipment. However, they weren't upfront about the Black Card membership perks. They highlight the benefits but don’t clearly mention that the massage chair is only available once per guest. I got the membership expecting my guests to enjoy it too, but after a few visits, they stopped my guest, saying it's a one-time use only. So keep that in mind and mention this thing to your customers while they sign up.

I’ve been coming to this gym for a few months with my boyfriend and I will no longer be returning here. My boyfriend went to use the tanning one day and when he got all undress and oiled up they never started the tanning. He then had to get dressed and stand at the front desk for 15 minuets because no was there. When someone finally showed up at the desk he then explained the whole situation and they didn’t care. At this point he didn’t want to tan. He came back the next week to then find out they banned him. Banning someone for calling someone out for not doing their job is not right. They also don’t ever have any of there paper towel machines filled up on the gym floor. So half the time I can’t ever wipe down my machine I just used. Employees here don’t do their job. I don’t recommend planet fitness

There is never any paper towel to clean the machine. All the employees want to do is stroll on their phone. There is usually no female working, so the women’s locker room is usually trashy. Been coming here almost every day for like 3 months now. They just upgraded the equipment but the staffing makes the experience so terrible. Slow on cleaning anything, soap and paper towel often empty, constant awful smells. What set me over the edge to review today was telling the front desk about the worst spoiled milk smell ever taking up a quarter of the space in the back, then being ignored, and then when I repeated myself two more times was just dismissed away. Literally it’s the employee-base that’s making this location such a terrible experience lately.

Absolutely loving my experience so far! Attentive, friendly staff, they keep things clean and paper towels filled. It’s a large, clean facility and I feel totally comfortable there. Nobody’s filming themselves which is something I was worried about. I can’t even express how awesome the hydro massage and massage chairs are! It’s a great reward after a nice workout. This is a very good planet fitness location. You can tell it used to be something very large like a grocery store. I have been a member of this planet fitness for over ten years. I moved to a new apartment since I first joined but this location is still 1-1/2 miles from my work and approximately 4 to 4-1/2 mi from my apartment. I don't know that its worth switching locations. I just have the basic membership, not the black card that lets you go to any location. Sometimes a machine is broken or the men's bathroom needs servicing but its not bad enough to avoid the place. Originally I joined so I could continue jogging, using the treadmills, when it is too cold or snowy or icy to jog outside, because I had an episode when I hurt my knee and the doctor figured out that I had Chondromalacia patella from my knee ligaments or muscles atrophying from not jogging in the winter. The trainer named Brian is super nice and let me borrow some exercise bands and showed me some brief exercises. There is no jogging track but I do ok with the treadmills.

One of the male employees asked out my girlfriend a couple months ago. She told him no. Since than he has tried to always be near her telling her what she can’t do and coming up with fake policies that Planet Fitness does not have. She was in the process of changing her shoes in one of the workout areas and the same employee told her it was against policy and she had to leave. There is zero help with my situation from the "GM" and they are playing the ignore game thinking I will just go away from the issues at hand and that I will just stop pursuing the correct answers that need to be made. Im sure they have no problem answering calls about people joining and getting their money but when they have to do the right thing and it may cost them a little money to take care of a customer they avoid it at all cost. This is by far my favorite PF location. The massage chairs are definitely the best. I'm giving 4 stars, only because you NEED TO change the bulbs on the tanners. I'm fair-skinned and can easily do the entire time, three times a week without getting any darker. It's barely a tan!!

Compared to other PF clubs this one is not up to par. Smith machine has been making a rickety sound for a month now and the front desk lady tells me they oiled it and the oil needs to dry for it to work- uh, no, that’s not how oil works- but she just kept repeating herself like I’m the dumb one. Also, always out of paper towel (told the front desk and I definitely was nothing them) and pads for barbells are always old and falling off. All 5 adjustable benches in the free weight section are ripped. None of the little extras will be found here like ankle straps for the cable machines. Been a black card member for years but I’ll drive a little farther for more for my money.

The general manager here “Dee” is extremely rude and has combative customer service, My sister (18 ) who has a black card and has registered my other sister (14) as her guest, They were told that a parent has to sign a waiver once and show proof they are the parent by bringing a birth certificate only once, in order for the 18yo to bring the 14yo and workout together. They have both have been going with no issues but Dee interrupted their workout and started ARGUING with them that a parent has to accompany the 14yo at all times. While this may be true, To our and their knowledge we were told it was ok when opening the membership and hadn’t had any issues until today. Instead of calmly explaining the situation and offering other solutions, Dee began to laugh in my sibling faces while shaking his big head repeating “its just policy”. No apologies for the miscommunication when they opened up the membership, or any type of courtesy. Of course my sister (18yo) gets frustrated when she is trying to explain she was told different and he began to laugh in her face causing her to get angry. She asked to cancel the membership for the attitude and miscommunication and he just goes “GLADLY I will cancel your membership” as if it was her fault for the miscommunication. Turns out the 14yo can even workout by herself if she signs up for the summer program, Which he did not offer or present anytime, He only presented a terrible demeanor towards them and painted them out to be the bad guys. My sister along with other family members who go to this location told me that he usually has a rude presence towards them. As a GENERAL MANAGER, You should be trying to come up with solutions, Not problems. We will no longer be returning to this location and do not recommend anyone go here as they have history of lying to you just to open a membership and then switch thing around after.

Adam a associate there seems to think that it’s okay to racially profile if you are a person of color and you decide you want to work out here scanning in isn’t enough he demands to see your ID And doesn’t let you work out until you show him I’ve never have this happen I was extremely uncomfortable and scared of his hostile behavior will not be going here ever again

It's mediocre at best, they lack certain machines that a vital and only have a small number of import stuff such as a bench press machine and a squat rack which they only have 1 of each.

I am not happy with this place... I set up for automatic withdrawals to come out of my account every month on the 17th. However, my payment was subtracted from my account on the 16th. This is exactly what happen several years ago before I left Planet Fitness. It started with one day and went on to up to three days prior. Yesterday, I spoke with Dee who said that he was the district manager and would look into the situation and call me back yesterday, but he never did. He also told me to waste my time to come in and prove to him that the payment was removed. I am looking for a new membership as soon as I get off of this post!!!

If I could rate 0 stars I would. I went in and signed up. Lady at the counter told me when I come in next they would need to take my picture I said ok. I go into today and the guy at the counter said I had to have my ID so I couldn't workout unless I brought it in. I was not told this. Very upset. Horrible customer service even from the "General Manager". The correct way to deal with this should have asked me to verify information on my account and ask me to bring it in next time. So I canceled my membership and my husband did as well bc we want to work out together. On top of that when my husband was there 2 weeks ago there was no toliet paper in the men's bathroom when he asked at the desk they said they are working on getting some in.
