This gym is the worst location I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to a lot. Their equipment is so outdated even after the “upgrades” that they charged all their members for. Their bar cushions might as well be a roll of toilet paper because it does not do anything for you. I’ve kindly asked multiple times for the staff to ask the manager to order the 2” thick bar cushions for months now. Every single other location has those cushions. The velcro doesn’t even stick to itself anymore. They don’t have a laying hamstring curl machine. Ankle/wrist attachment for the cable machines doesn’t work either. Absolutely no stick left on velcro. The workers were rude when I tried to share my concerns even after sharing being injured from their equipment. No injury form was even offered to be filed. Their advice was to just “buy my own attachments and bring those in” which is against planet fitness rules. Told her that was against the rules and I’ve gotten told I couldn’t use my own equipment in the past and she said “it’s fine I do it all the time”. Absolutely useless. Wouldn’t give me a manger name or number to call to ask them myself. Said she would leave a note. Doubt it.

I was enjoying my leg day when one of the assistant managers, Madalyn racially profiled my friend and I. She told us we can’t all 4 be using the same machine at the same time because it’s against the rules. However on my way out I noticed she let three guys key in as they came in to work out together. When I asked how that was allowed given that there is not much difference between a group of 3 vs 4 she stated she was just following orders. What a wonderful message to send to your customers, I come there to work out not put up with petty grievances.

I enjoy visiting this gym for a variety of reasons. However, I must write a review just to say that the gym is always clean and well maintained, which is quite refreshing! There are two employees who seem to go above and beyond. Merina is the most pleasant person in the place, and she is always working hard, cleaning, tending to the front desk, emptying garbage and wiping down countertops. Sean is a master of the vacuum and is meticulous about the cleanliness of all of the equipment, as well as the floor. These two employees are great assets for Planet and they should be recognized for the exceptional jobs they do!

This planet fitness location is wonderful. All of the front desk staff are extremely friendly and nice. Ivy especially is super sweet and helpful. The building is very clean as are the bathrooms and locker rooms. I have no complaints. Machines seem to be older but they are kept in great condition. Love this wonderful location.

This place has gone down hill since Nick became manager. Addressing concerns comes with conflict. Not only does he make his employees feel extremely uncomfortable, many employees have quit. This also makes the customers very stressed and unhappy. Working with district and corporate has been most unhelpful. Due to the continuous policies they won’t address & Mngmt sporadic, impulsive and aggressive over micro managing behavior. It’s just uncomfortable to work out there!
I urge the local community to cancel their memberships!

Today I went to Planet Fitness and I struggle a lot with social anxiety, and I went up to the front desk and I Spoke to Merina and she made me feel really comfortable and helped me through my anxiety to work out, and that meant a lot to me, especially because I’ve had horrible experiences at that same location in the past, and she was absolutely great, and I wholeheartedly appreciated how she helped me because not many people would go out of their way to do that.

I'm a new Planet Fitness member. I've recently visited 3 Planet Fitness locations in my area. I have to say that all 3 were exceptionally clean and well working equipment! Staff members have all been friendly and helpful. I'm mostly using the center circuit 30-minute workout just to get acclimated and back in the groove of working out. With that in mind, I found the Chesterfield location to have newer equipment but very busy. The Mt. Clemens' location was good because there seems to be less traffic. The Shelby location is good too, with medium traffic. I'm happy with the whole operation and plan to continue being a Black Card member bc I love the massage chairs and hydro chairs. The Black Card membership also allows me to bring a guest every day! This feature helps me stay motivated since I'm a beginner.

Very reasonable monthly rates, a wide variety of exercise machines and a knowledgeable, friendly staff are some of the reasons for its popularity. A contract is not required, so it's not difficult to discontinue membership.
Most locations have a similar layout and machines, and include a 30-minute Express Circuit, a full-body workout that combines strength and cardio exercises in a circuit format. Numerous treadmills, ellipticals, and similar cardio machines are available, with televisions on many channels to view. (Bring earbuds with minijack connectors.) There are also some free weights and cable machines.
The locker rooms and showers at this location are very clean and pleasant.

I continually get asked about money that I (owe) from 2 years ago!!! Everytime I walk in they ask me about it like dude that was two years ago, why would you let me pay for a new membership and validate my membership without asking for the money that I owed first? I would have never got the membership had I known they continued to run my bill up the last time I had a membership even after I stopped coming tot he gym for months they continued to bill me afterwards smh,… EDIT UPDATE, I called the planet fitness to talk to the management to make a payment plan and they just loved to assume that I got payed weekly and were trying to tell me how I was going to pay it whilst I was trying to suggest to pay 10 bucks a month untill the hundred bucks was going to be payed but it seems like they wouldn’t even let me make a suggestion, they were basically what sounded like they were telling me was I had to pay it in 2 or 3 payments, and I just told the management over the phone that I’m willing to pay 50 percent of it now and the rest of it when I get it, and remember before this they kept telling me that if I don’t pay the bill I won’t be able to come in any more, and as I was trying to figure a payment plan out with management and they go ahead and add on “ or u can just cancel your membership and you won’t have to pay” well I guess I’m going to cancel my member ship and not pay now! God bless! You should really reconsider hiring rude management, I promise you they will turn customers from your establishment! God bless!

While I can only speak from personal experiences, I have been completely satisfied with my Planet fitness home club, located at 23mi and Vandyke. I've only been to one other one, but I definitely preferred this one. Somehow they each had a very different vibe. I can say that the employees at my home club have always been helpful and friendly, I also see them out frequently cleaning the gym and locker rooms. So overall the equipment and areas are well maintained and sanitary. I only go to the gym 2x a week, but I enjoy their varied workout options, as well as their massage chairs. I did sign up for their blackcard program to enjoy the extra perks and bring guests. Overall I've be enjoying my experience with them.

At this location, I’ve been a victim of racism, while attending this facility on vacation. Kasey, at the front desk, informed her staff to tell me that I can no longer attend this facility. Prior to Kasey clocking in this morning, I was allowed to come in as a guest with someone, who has the black card membership. I will NEVER step foot in another Planet Fitness and I will cancel my current membership at my location, because if these are the type of people you all hire to represent your franchise, I will not be apart of it. And not to mention, she follows me around this facility and find reasons to say anything to me. This is unacceptable.

After attending this facility for the past 2 weeks, Kasey has shown on multiple occasions that she doesn’t want me in this gym.

I will be taking this further. You guys have lost a member for a lifetime. Good riddance!

Had been a PF member for over 3 years. I arrived at this club expecting to be able to work out as usual, but the man at the desk denied me entry because of my shoes, despite them meeting the policy of not being open toed shoes or sandals. I'll be canceling my membership as soon as I'm able to return to my home club, and I advise nobody to get a membership here as they will deny you entry for completely arbitrary reasons.

The gym is clean. I saw a piece of dust moving around and within like a minute of me noticing while working out, it was picked up. Always see someone dusting, vacuuming, or refilling. I wish there were more Stairmaster's but all of the members are nice and most of the staff say hello and goodbye which is nice and welcoming.

I got my id and debit card stolen aug 3, between 5:20 pm and 6:40 pm along with multiple other women. To the lady who stole from women’s locker room and then went to meijers in Fraser mi and spent thousands of dollars, you are on camera at both places and there is an active investigation on you. Multiple police reports are on you. You have been seen, won’t be long until the police get your name. Hahah you really think you’re gunna get away with this…. Don’t worry. You will be caught. How pathetic can you be.. I hope this was worth the serious trouble you will be in with the law..

Had a membership for about a year here, finally decided to bring my girlfriend with me so she could try out the gym for herself. Asked for a complementary pass offered by every Planet Fitness I've ever been to and got turned down at the door. We left, drove to another club where we were welcomed immediately. Transferred my membership there and I won't be coming back.

Oh and by the by, she loved the gym and signed up for a membership. Just a shame we had to go somewhere more courteous.

By far the best Planet Fitness Club I have ever been to. I am a Black Card member, travel frequently, and have visited numerous PF clubs across the country. The Utica, MI club is always clean, has a great staff, and the equipment is well maintained. Much (most) of the credit goes to the club's General Manager, Sean Wesley. Sean has been at this club for as long as I can remember (I became a member shortly after the club opened). As a former Personal Trainer and gym manager, I can truly appreciate the dedication and hard work Sean puts in to keep his club in tip-top shape. Kudos to Sean and the entire staff at PF Utica.

I posted the above review a few years ago and it still applies to this day. Additionally the recently upgraded Black Card Spa is amazing, but what really separates this location from other Planet Fitness locations (and other gyms for that matter) is the staff. In particular Tiffany, Leah, and Anthony. They always greet you by name with a smile on their face and are polite, courteous, and professional at all times.

Shaun the General Manager here is great! Friendly staff and super clean gym. Always willing to help and you cant beat planet fitnesses prices. Plus if your lucky enough to have this be your home club, they just upgraded their black card spa area with wellness pod, great tanning and gravity massage chairs. There literally is only a couple Planet fitnesses like this in the world. A+ recommend! This gym however will not suit you if your training for powerlifting or Olympic lifting, they don't have the equipment for that kind of weight training. If your looking to build a nice body or just general health and wellness at a beyond reasonable price and TAN, this is the place to go.

Don't go to this location, On 2 separate occasions they over charged me for their own mistake and oversight, then u have to wait 10 days to get your money back...How can a simple gym overcharge their clients? The only thing they offered was a single 1 month free? So yall mistakenly over charge me 40.00 twice and only offer a 1 month (9.99 value) for yalls mistake? Yea guys trust me just go to L.A. fitness or Anytime fitness so they won't take advantage of u!

I was interested in switching to this planet fitness location; making this my new home gym. The only reason I decided not to pull the trigger on this is due to the fact that now this location has decreased its hours only operating 24/5.
And of course the five days of the week they elected to keep open 24 hours are the days that most people
(including myself) are preoccupied with their jobs and children. I have everything I need at home for my normal lifting routine. And I was interested in expanding my routine and adding more cardio into the mix. This Planet fitness would have been ideal for me to do this.
I wish this locations management/ owners would have reached out to current members to get a consensus of what days would be the most accommodating to the majority of their clienteles schedules.
I believe if they put some thought into which days would be the most inclusive days to stay open 24 hours; they would arrive at the same conclusion as myself and all other one star reviewers.
Two of the days that should be included
in the 24/5 schedule should be SATURDAY AND SUNDAY.

I believe If this locations staff is willing to reconsider and try doing this on a trial basis; this move would appease the majority of people complaining about the change in hours.
At worst we would all be aware that this location is in tune with what people are asking for and it would go along way proving that this location values its members that choose to call this Location home.
(Update) the staff is interested in making there customers happy and are willing to address and possibly make changes if there is a lot of support from their current customers.
