Used to play here a lot! Like at least weekly, coming from Midland. Loved great rates for women and Seniors on Mondays but never minded the more $80ish rate on weekends. Today new rates are $125 per person. But nothing has changed. Just walked off the course and did NOT play $125 sand traps, did NOT drive on $125 cart paths, did NOT pee in $125 bathrooms. On top of that at least five holes the cart GPS absolutely had the wrong pin, was at least 15-30 yards off, my husband kept asking "what's your watch say? That can't be right.". Pulled out my shooter and my watch and shooter had accurate reads at WAY les! And our cart was right next to our balls! That brings me to "Cart Path Only". Totally get that needs to be a thing, but first we tried to call about tee times, etc. Got sent to a voicemail three times over 25 minutes, at 12:45 pm on a Sunday, voicemail referred to "closed for 2024 season"...... Finally someone answered, we asked SPECIFICALLY about rain related cart path only for the day, because my husband has a new hip! Kid said, "nope, no restrictions today". Well ..... Some four plus cart path only holes later, two being par fives, well...torqued off! We are avid, experienced golfers that have played all over Michigan, have no issues with high green fees, but only when you get what you pay for. $125 a round here is not it. Sorry ya'll. We won't be back.

I've played all over the world and this course is way overpriced for what it is. I've played 30 dollar municipal courses that have greens that are better taken care of. If you are going to act like a week before Memorial Day is prime season then have the course ready. It is really a travesty that course can charge this much for mediocrity.

My only complaint is the proximity carts are allowed towards green. Some were 75 yds. 16 hole you can't drive on fairway until past the creek. Doesn't keep speed of play moving

An amazing course. The course itself is country club quality. Every single hole is interesting, no par 4/5 filler holes winding back and forth next to each other. We had no one in front or behind us so it was a pure journey through the woods.

I had left my wedge behind and someone had turned it in. I called them and they had it and set it aside for me with my name on it.

We had lunch too and it was good. Nothing special but certainly better than your average course and better than fast food.

We have played several courses in the midland area and this one is easily at the top of the list.

Had a great time at The Pohlcat today!!! Started with Kayla in the restaurant and the awesome club sandwich she made us. The range was in great shape, and the grass on the chipping green near the range was as good as the course greens. The course greens and fairways were perfect. The course had a wonderful mixture of hard holes and super cool risk-reward par 4s. Can't wait to play it again.

Called to confirm driving range was indeed open on a sunny afternoon today at 230. Went to desk to pick up balls for range and was informed the range is closed at 240. Desk person said he tried to call me back, no call to me on phone. This has happened more than once. Never buy a range pass here, way too expensive for a very limited time the range is open.

The course is a 4 all day! I'd give the course management staff, starter & ranger, a 2 at best. What's the point of having 10 minute intervals between tee times if you're letting everyone tee whenever they feel. Had a group of 6 trying to swipe my time and the starter was just telling jokes instead of making sure the flow starts off smooth for everyone. Then we were stuck behind a 4 some of old timers that held up everyone behind them and even though the ranger passed by a few times nothing was said to them, but he was quick to day something to the group of 6 behind us. Even though the hold up was in front of them. Really made the day unenjoyable and left us disappointed.

Dan Pohl is a saint! We booked a golf package through a course in the area that i won't name (rhymes with Ducks Fun) that was completely mishandled - our Pohlcat tee time wasn't communicated effectively. When we showed up ready to play Saturday morning, they had no record of our group playing that day. Through the staff's (mostly) calm demeanor, they were able to squeeze in our 24 person outing amidst the 112 person outing already on the course.

Dan's (and his staff's) ability to be creative and calmly handle the situation was more than impressive. With people in town from all over the country - east coast, west coast, south, etc, our outing was saved by the Pohlcat team.

The course was in great shape and we had an awesome time amidst all the chaos!

We booked a 24-person outing through Soaring Eagle this past weekend. Upon arrival on Saturday at PohlCat, we were told that our booking contact at the hotel booked us for Friday (where we no-showed as our confirmation email confirmed our Saturday tee time). Rather than crushing our big golf weekend & saying we could not play, the PohlCat team offered us free cocktails & breakfast to start the morning while they worked through a solution. They were exceptionally welcoming & were able to plug & play to fit us into a round. The course was in great shape & we all had an awesome time. I would recommend this course & staff 10/10. We played a course on Friday in the area that did not even come close to this level of service.

Played 10/25 - the greens are very good this late in the season. A perfect blend of wide fairways & tight tree-lined holes. This track has big teeth. You must be accurate off the tee. So many gorgeous views with the Chippewa River meandering throughout the entire property. It's difficult to question anything being sub-par here, as I fired a 72 and loved every moment of the day

Played there yesterday and geesh the cart being early season opening was filthy inside/outside the key ring to cart had so much rust on it I wouldn’t touch that! A power wash does wonders for a $$ round of 18 holes. And lots of water in sand traps price should reflect what you get not more.

The course was in great shape. The pace of play was good. The only negative was that they told us on the phone that it was $37 and when we got there he said he knew we were told $37 but their was an error on their computer and the price was really $45. That's not a good business practice, in fact I don't even think it is legal to do that.After driving as far as we did to get there and meeting another couple we just paid it and played. So did the people in front of us and behind us. Great golf course so you don't need to bait and switch pricing to get customers. (I just looked at the rates currently posted on their website and it still says $37 for Seniors. ) Following up...I've have called twice to speak with Marissa Dunn. The first time I was told she was not in and would return the call. She did not. I called back a couple weeks later and was told she was on the phone with the accountant and would call me back. I still have not received a call.

Pohlcat served as the 4th course on our Central Michigan golf trip. At $80 for a Saturday afternoon, I felt the price was steep given how lackluster it was relative to Pilgrim's Run, St. Ives, and Tullymore. Heavy rains the night before forced "cart-path only" restrictions, which was understandable... however, I would expect a course that charges $70+ to have better drainage than Pohlcat did. Small ponds formed in the fairways and rough and I had to take relief on several occasions. On the plus side, Pohlcat has generous fairways that allow players to "grip it & rip it" off the tee and holes #16-18 are fun closing holes. There's not a whole lot of elevation change, but as a Chicago native that's generally the norm. Overall, I would give Pohlcat a 7/10. If you're in the area, it's worth playing... but I wouldn't recommend driving out of your way to "Stalk the Cat".

Don’t bother going there. No one is literally home there.

We understand that play can be slow. But when we spoke to all the people like the ranger, several men in the pro shop, they just blow us off. Perhaps because we were women??! We asked not one but two rangers to speak to the guys in front of us who clearly thought it was time to party instead of golf he did nothing. We were well over 50 minutes behind. Not a fun day.

I was in the group with Dr. Patricia Odette the original poster you responded to. We called the ranger, we spoke to a ranger who we saw on one hole and spoke to the young man in the clubhouse so who else would you like us to reach out to?
Our cart displayed that the pace of play was 40-50 minutes behind, but no one came out to deal with the pace of play in front of us. It was far more than just a little "stacked" up as your clubhouse employee called it. Even though we were " just women" we payed full price for a round of golf, and would have Loved to play an enjoyable round.

By far the best service I’ve ever received from a tree or stump grinding service. They came out twice. Knocked out 20 nice sized stumps in no time. Course was in great shape. Grounds crew and pro shop staff were very friendly and inviting. Unfortunately I had a member that was yelling at me to hit on hole 9, he was on 9 teebox. I was 250 out downwind with a 3 wood in hand. He then proceeded to drive by me and told the foursome on the green to let us play through. It only took an hour and 45 minutes to play 9 holes. I would recommend playing pohlcat just beware of jerk members.

My friends and I had a great time golfing. The course was in excellent shape and the people working at the course made us feel very welcomed. This was our third time golfing at the Pohlcat and each time was good. Being from the Cleveland area and this being our third trip to Soaring Eagle we have made the golf course a necessary visit. I went to the driving range here, I think that this is the best range in the Mt. Pleasant area.

Very nice course. I can only give 3 stars because the fairways were very very wet due to the 2" of rain they got day/night before so i didnt get the true playability of the course. Shoes and socks were soaked by 3rd Tee box. The elder crocodile dundee looking worker and the Ranger who loved to drive by you and across your fairway as you tried to play with no regard for you was very annoying as well However the layout, views and greens were very nice. I believe when the course is dry it would demand accuracy.

We have played this course many times and had fun. Last year we played the course and had course maintenance following us on every hole. It got to be a sad joke as they would follow us to the next tee box, fire up leaf blowers while we teed off and the do the same on the next tee box. Spoke to Dan Pohl at the Novi 2019 golf show today about the issue and did not receive any feedback , or any concern about the situation, other than from the new manager who denied I ever spoke to him about the event at the time. Gone downhill management wise. If you like grounds folks, unresponsive management, play this course!
