Cancelled my membership and will not rejoin because the gym needs plate trees or racks. They literally do not have any in the whole gym, which leads to rude patrons stealing plates from machines, even if you’re currently using them. No one even asks if they can grab a plate from your machine; they just take it without permission. The only bright spot is the women’s-only area and they keep it pretty clean.

The worst gym in Michigan, they will sign you up for a year minimum and will not let you cancel, it costs $1 to start and $200 to cancel, VERY UNTRUSTWORTHY and money driven. I’ve never used their facility and they refused to let me cancel my membership, had to close my entire bank account to get not get charged, DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM! MESSAGE ME AND I WILL GET YOU A DISCOUNTED PRICE AT LIFETIME. Terrible facilities, staff, small chairs, lack of equipment, I’m not sure how this gym is still around. DO NOT JOIN!

Making rookie mistakes
-the gym is open 24/7 however they decide to mop the entire gym and spray chemicals in all the saunas and steam rooms during peak times. Morning time and evening time you can’t walk a foot without sliding or running into a wet floor sign or able to relax in the sauna without inhaling chemicals. Why don’t they clean the gym once during the late night ? Can’t even look in the mirror during peak times in the locker room because the janitor feels obligated to hose it down 4 times a day.

-only gym I been to that has snatch bars for bench bars. I tried to fill out a survey but they have taken no corrective action. None of the bars at powerhouse northville are for actual benching they rotate in your hands meant for Olympic snatch weight.

-if you get locked out your locker at most times they just give you the iPad to open lockers meaning anyone can rob you, I wouldn’t take any personal belongings in here.

- the dumbbells only go up to 125 pounds even though they have to e powerhouse brand, which should be a lot higher now we are capped at such a low weigh compared to other powerhouses.

This location is clean, spacious, well-lit, inviting and well maintained. I like the open spaces where I can craft my own workouts, or stick to machines and never have to wait. This is a great location to continue my health and workout journey!

I’m really disappointed with the overall experience at this gym. From the start, the communication from the staff has been poor. We were not clearly informed about all the details of the membership when we signed up. The biggest issue came when we decided to cancel our membership. Without warning, they had already charged us the yearly fee again, even though we were planning to stop. When we asked if we could return later in the same year without paying the fee again, we were told that after 70 days we’d have to pay the yearly fee again. That makes no sense – how is it a “yearly” fee if it doesn’t actually cover the year?

This lack of transparency and confusing policies made us feel taken advantage of. For that reason, I don’t recommend Powerhouse Gym. There are other gyms with better communication, clearer pricing, and fairer policies.

I had a very disappointing experience at Powerhouse in Northville. I was at the front desk asking a few questions, as I had just purchased a membership the day before. I was responded to in a passive aggressive tone, as if these questions weren’t important enough for their time. Her name was Julia, she had a very unsettling demeanor and even walked away while I was still talking. This is extremely upsetting considering how excited I was for my new gym membership. This experience made the situation unnecessarily uncomfortable. Front desk staff should be approachable and willing to answer questions, not condescending. Unfortunate to say I will not be returning to this location.

Great gym BUT, the last couple months it has been beyond crowded any time after work. They continue to run new member promos when there are already too many people a lot of the time. Many times every single bench is taken and they have a ton. Clips for barbells, foam pads, ect have been MIA lately, not put back, or not replaced. Culture has really gone down hill too. Weights not reracked, cable attachments left all over the floor. Used to be so much better and worth the extra money to come here but now it’s just like any other commercial gym.

First off, I want to say the gym is amazing the staff are great and the overall environment is solid. However, I really need to bring up the ongoing issue with the STEAM ROOM, One of the main reasons I signed up for this gym was specifically for the STEAm ROOM, but it’s been really unreliable. Some days it only runs for about 10 minutes, sometimes not at all, and it seems to break down frequently. It’s frustrating, especially for those of us who rely on it as part of our wellness routine. This is a busy gym with a solid membership base surely there’s room in the budget to properly fix and maintain the steam room. It’s a small expense that would make a big difference to a lot of members.
PLEASE take this seriously a consistent and functional steam room would really bring the gym experience to the next level. I will reconsider this review and my membership if there will be results, thanks

I’m sure the gym is great. But we were in town for 2 days and just wanted to hit the weights for an hour and get out. They said a day pass was $30. That’s ridiculous. A day pass should be $10 or $20 at the most. Girl at the counter wasn’t very friendly about it either.

Honestly, this is a phenomenal gym great amenities, and very clean. However, I give this a one star rating because of the number of issues that I encounter every time I visit. Account isn’t set up properly and I have to wait to talk to somebody and usually in the evenings they’re just trying to sell me something rather than to actually help me. I’ve started to believe that the team is intentionally creating issues in order to try to upsell me which has become frustrating and which is why I will not be returning to the gym.

It’s always clean and the atmosphere is so pleasing. My favorite class is Les mills shapes with Stephanie and Saturday’s small group training with DJ !

Tanning beds could use a refresh on the bulbs more often but everything else always works great !

I enjoy this gym, as someone who is 5ish years into weight lifting. They have an abundance of machines and lots of room for free weights and multiple squat racks - my main attraction to this gym is how much equipment they have! Their locker rooms/bathrooms are ALWAYS clean, and i constantly see employees dusting/cleaning while im there. employees are always helpful and very kind.

My ONLY gripe (and reason for not giving 5 stars) is the equipment being all over the place. While i totally understand its the members of the gym who never put their equipment back, it is very frustrating to not be able to find the kettle bells you need/not be able to use the free weight section with out picking up after someone else. BUT their employees do their best to clean up as fast as they can, all while being kind to their members. truthfully this is a really great gym. everyones complaints about the sauna and steam room are over exaggerated.

I just feel like we’re overpaying by about $50 a month, plus there’s an extra $20. On top of that women steam room, it almost never works. When we ask the front desk, they always say it will be repaired immediately, but in a month, it worked for maybe just one day. It honestly feels like they’re doing this intentionally to save on power bills.
