I appreciate that the gym Is peaceful and clean. My prior gym had extremely loud music and workout groups with the leader, screaming over a microphone. You couldn’t hear yourself think! The gym is well stocked with great equipment, and I like the fact that it is divided into areas specific to Specific workout types.

I joined this gym in November. It is super close to home, clean, and has amazing and friendly staff. The people are great and super nice too. I love working out at Retro. I would definitely recommend this gym to anyone in the Rochester area or really anywhere! I feel super comfortable every time and am able to get a great workout in.

A transaction posted to my checking account on 4/9/2025 that was not authorized. This marks the third time my debit card information has been used to make an unauthorized purchase. Each time, I’ve shut down and cancelled the debit card with my bank, got a new one with a fresh number, and gave it to Retro to process monthly dues. Retro Fitness is the only place that this card is used.

It is such a friendly and welcoming environment. I’ve been to other gyms and they lack the warm atmosphere and encouraging vibes Retro has. It’s like a family..and it makes me want to go to their classes and groups. I originally left for a bigger gym with more equipment, but when I didn’t feel the personal vibes there, I returned to Retro and have never had an issue where the equipment I wanted to use was not available. Four stars. Would be 5 starts but every Sunday monitors are switched to Fox News which is highly political and the last thing I want is some gym manager's opinion news foisted on me. I would not like it if it was left wing news. Would just like to work out . I bring it up each week. A nice staff member will change it, and will say that they will tell management. But the next week, same thing. Other than that love the gym. Hope someone will actually see to it that it stops.

If the staff are as good in person as they are on the phone, I have no doubt this is an amazing club to work out at! I called with a few questions about personal training packages, and both team members I spoke with were very friendly and outgoing. Never joined this gym, but they assumed the memberships of another local gym that closed. They gave me so much trouble trying to cancel despite me telling them that my contract did not have a right of assignment. I asked for proof that it did, which they could not provide. They finally stopped billing me after this dispute, but refused to refund the months they had billed. Very dishonest way to do business.

The gym has all the equipment you will ever need (that is what is better than Plant fitness that does not have free weights). However, I am surprised how poor this location is when it comes to cleanliness - the bathroom trash is almost always overflowing, there is dust on equipment across the facility, equipment is jammed together. The preacher curl machine is placed right besides a huge pillar, I have often hit my elbow while getting off that machine. Nevertheless, its a convenient location, but I want to get in and out of it as soon as I can.

It is an average Gym at BEST! Does it have the equipment / amenities yes, but not kept clean and squeezed into the facility. Music is very loud and at time plays profanity. Small Minority of members are nice, but the place is overrun by teens / young ‘entitled’ adults and are rude on equipment usage etc… However, there is no governed policy on vaping as many patrons are vaping and pumping!! In addition, the management practices ‘shady’ charging policy. They over charge many times and don’t reimburse right away / or take too long to reimburse to never and state ‘corporate will be in touch’! I have stopped going here, changed Credit Cards as they continued to charge and did not provide a safe clean environment to work out in or a facility one enjoys coming too.

This gym has a great location, good equipment/classes available, and friendly employees. The downsides? Shady business practices. I found out that for the past year and a half they have been charging my credit card $10 more per month extra for a membership with the same characteristics as everyone else, resulting in over $200 in overages paid to them for absolutely nothing- no extra bells and whistles- just hey thanks for the extra cash. When I addressed this with the company I was told that they would fix my membership going forward and give me one month free. I find it appalling that they would not credit my account the $200 in overages I am owed. I hope their other customers can learn from this breach of trust- you really have to watch out here. Such a shame!

Fine establishment with exceptional and professional staff. I am not a morning person by any means but joined and pushed myself to come here each day before the sun came up. The staff was so kind and truly brightened my day especially the manager Jim and David! I was ALWAYS greeted with a smile and hello even at the crack of dawn in the middle of winter. After my workouts, I’d get a delicious smoothie and always left feeling like I was starting the day with a little more pep in my step. I am longer a member due to geographical changes only but would highly recommend to anyone in need of a great gym in the area with a friendly and supportive environment. Thank you for everything!!

The facilities are great, the people are friendly, Retro is taking a responsible approach to Covid19 (didn't have to ask to not get charged while the governor's order was in place closing them. They did it automatically.) The smoothy bar is great. I haven't tried the personal trainers yet, but other people seem to like them. Once I get myself back to my baseline fitness after being locked down for months I'll probably hire one.

I tried to join the club back in late December. A young, blond girl worked behind the counter on a Sunday & she was rude & disrespectful. My husband & I wanted to join because we live 7 minutes away. I went in to cancel my membership, not for anything they've done or changed, I'm just a human, and a lazy one, so I hadn't been in over a year. I also realized that I had just been hit with their annual maintenance fee, literally yesterday. Well I went in with my tail between my legs, and they were willing to refund the charge on account of my complete lack of gym usage...not proud of that, but they didn't have to give that back, and I very much appreciated that they were willing to. I really like this gym! I don't use a lot of the equipment, so I can't speak about all of that, but the entire gym is always super clean and the staff is always friendly and helpful. Plus, they offered a student membership during the summer that only lasted the summer months. If you're not using the gym for the whole year, it's nice not having to pay a million cancelation and commitment fees like at other gyms in the area.
