I met with Dr. Jon yesterday for the InBody body scan and it was a great experience. It took about 60 seconds, didn’t involve any bloodwork, and the Jon reviewed the results immediately.
I was able to ask questions and I learned a lot. It wasn’t single layer answers about just weight or just diet - Dr. Jon is coming from a wholistic approach that involves everything. The conversation naturally involved everything from parenting to gardening to community. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next.

It's normal to struggle in many ways on most days. That makes those who are both willing & able to help & encourage me to struggle toward what's good instead of what's not beyond valuable to me. If you're struggling with food & movement or even discerning what your struggles are, Jon's both kind & competent, which is a rare combination these days. I'm nothing but glad our paths crossed. He's a GOOD guide.

I am a 40 year old male who has had a long health journey. I highly recommend Jon. I had knee problems for 4 years at which point my traditional doctor told me that I needed either surgery or injections into my knee. I couldn't run or crouch at all. Even standing was painful for long amounts of time. My knee would lock up because of the pain and it would be hard getting in and out of my car.
I chose to give Jon and his Physical Therapy practice a try. One of the best decisions of my life regarding my health. Not only did Jon help coach me and inspire me through the daily stretches and follow ups. His accountability was super helpful. He would routinely follow up with me. Although it was hard work, it was worth saving tons of medical bills and the long recovery of surgery, that who knows if it would have fixed it anyways. Several of my friends who chose surgery, still can't play ball anymore.
But following his leading, I was able to get back to doing what I love to do. Run and play basketball again with my son! Pain Free! I'm so grateful for his affordable, flexible services.
Highly... Highly recommend!

Standing on the shoulders of the others who posted positive experiences with Dr Jon, I attest to the same. A recent shoulder injury brought me to him at his new location on Stadium Drive. Dr. Jon utilized modern research and his clinical experience to diagnose and move towards a solution. The fitness app, following my appointment, is very accessible and allows me to integrate exercises into my daily routine. I could not be more satisfied with my experience and recommend all the physically infirm to pursue his restorative science & art.

When I had debilitating pain running down my leg, Dr. Jon diagnosed the problem and prescribed exercises that helped relieve that pain and strengthened my body. He was very personable and I found it refreshing to see a health care provider that actually demonstrated faith, family, and freedom values.

Jon is nothing short of a miracle worker! I injured my shoulder stacking tables and chairs last October and put off getting it checked out for several months thinking it would heal on its own. It didn’t. Then I started physical therapy with Jon. In only six sessions with him, I went from not being able to push the car door open with my left arm or pull a sweater on over my head to near 100% mobility in my shoulder. I’m so thankful that physical therapy was the answer instead of surgery. I highly, highly recommend going to see Jon from Strength and Shield!

I coached the Kalamazoo Cougars girls varsity soccer this year and Dr. Jon showed my team a strength and conditioning routine as well as some preventative movements specifically for soccer. We had minimal injuries this season and I truly believe it was because of what we learned from Dr. Jon!!

Dr. Jon Strefling has helped me recover from two separate injuries over the past couple of years. The first was a foot/ankle injury that had left me unable to walk for three months. After being referred to Dr. Jon by my chiropractor, I was immediately impressed by his genuine cheerfulness and kindness, by his extensive knowledge and expertise in his field, and by his truly excellent ability to both listen and teach. He directed me in exercises that gradually brought back my normal stride, and was forthright about the length of time it would take for my injury to fully heal. It was a bad injury and a long road, and he was full of encouragement along the way.
In my recent difficulties with a herniated disc, his evaluation of my symptoms was thorough and precise and the exercise regimen he provided was quickly and profoundly helpful in moving me forward to attain mobility again.
In addition to his skill as a physical therapist, Dr. Jon's accessibility is exceptional. His willingness to function as a mobile PT and come to my home has been a tremendous blessing since I have a houseful of children. And as a self-paying family with no insurance, his reasonable pricing is what made it possible for me to receive physical therapy at all.
Two other notable characteristics of his approach are his genuine care for the patient and his firm commitment to living upright before God. He is not out to milk a client dry, but rather to equip the person with the tools needed to achieve their goals and move forward as independently as possible. Dr. Jon is honest and he is trustworthy. His intent is to be a catalyst for help and healing, and he gives generously from his store of skill and experience to make healing and progress happen quickly and efficiently for his patients.

I’ve had horrible feet/leg/hip pain for the last few years. Before going to Dr. Jon, I spent thousands of dollars out of pocket on tests and appointments with no diagnosis or relief for the pain. After seeing Dr. Jon one time he gave me a number of ideas he was going to work through and gave me exercises to start immediately. Within a day, many of my pains disappeared or were greatly reduced. Additionally I was able to spend more time talking with Dr. Jon in that first appointment than I had been able to talk to all my other doctors through Bronson combined over the last few years. It was great that Dr. Jon was able to spend the time I needed to work through my issues and not feel rushed. He offers on-time appointments, no moving from waiting room to waiting room and was able to get the time I needed with a Dr. to efficiently sort through my issues. One appointment with Jon sorted through my issues far more than dozens of appointments elsewhere. Can’t say how happy I am and will continue to use Strength & Shield in the future.

I met with Dr. Jon to discuss a running-related injury. He saw me quickly following contact and this is the best PT appointment I’ve ever had (and I’ve been to a few PTs)! He helped to diagnose my problem, provided exercises, and an estimated timeline for recovery. Jon spent time explaining the injury and prevention, and answered all my questions. I spent a full hour at the clinic. I did not need a referral and was able to pay with my HSA. Highly recommend!

Jon is amazing, a true professional! I injured my back and was trying to manage on my own, but knew I needed help. I felt overwhelmed and scared for my future as I couldn’t work. Jon came and simplified the whole process, gave me hope and an easy plan to follow. I really felt his care and concern for me as a patient, reassuring me throughout the whole process. He was so personable and approachable, I’ve never experienced that with any other PT services! Jon was extremely knowledgeable and confident in his skills, which in turn, made me feel confident! He used lots of visuals and videos to help me understand my diagnosis and the home exercise program was easy to manage and follow!
S&S mobile PT is such an awesome and unique concept, it is so convenient to not have to leave my house and still receive quality PT. That is something I value as I have a small child and it’s not easy to arrange childcare to go out to therapy. Jon was so fun, including my family in the education and encouraging them to be a part of my healing! My 3 year old loved him! I could not recommend Jon and S&S mobile PT more!

Excellent care and service in so many ways: quick to reply, kind and compassionate while he listened to what was going on, asked great questions to pinpoint the cause and then followed up to see how I was doing. Basically, everything you want a healthcare provider to be and do! Highly recommend Strength & Shield Mobile PT!
