Storm Taekwondo is an excellent place for kids to learn and grow in Taekwondo. My children absolutely love coming here! One of the best things about this academy is the flexibility — classes are unlimited, so students can attend up to five days a week and even take two classes per day.

Coach Shane and Coach Megan are incredibly dedicated — they genuinely care about every student and motivate them daily to challenge themselves and keep improving. The school’s main focus is helping kids build the skills and confidence to succeed in sparring tournaments at both state and national levels.

They also have additional accomplished coaches who provide one-on-one attention and help advanced students practice strategies to perform their best in competitions.

STORM HAS REALLY AWAKENED OUR SON! We’re seeing a positive change in his behavior. We’re seeing him do things that we didn’t know he was capable of doing at this stage of his life. HE FOCUSES, LISTENS AND FOLLOWS INSTRUCTIONS. He is able to complete all tasks given by the instructors very well. I was worried he wouldn’t be able to stand still for short moments but he has. My son just turned 3 years old and he has so much energy to burn and at the end of class he is not wore out or exhausted but mellow and leveled. He’s not starting preschool till next year so bringing him to taekwondo has been his schooling in some important areas I feel he needs before I leave him alone in a school setting. We enrolled our son at Storm a little over a month ago because our grandmother just passed in July and after she transitioned we started to notice a change in our son’s behavior. Day by day since he has been attending these taekwondo sessions he has been making positive change. Also the sessions are not too long time wise and they’re affordable. The atmosphere is clean and the energy in the room is right. I love the diversity as well. My son will continue to attend classes because he loves the sessions and the classes are bringing out the best in him. If you’re thinking about enrolling your loved one in karate or taekwondo for whatever reason, Storm Taekwondo will address your needs.

Storm Taekwondo is the BEST place to learn discipline, get humbled, become stronger, and kick ass. I am 19 years old and have always wanted to do taekwondo but my parents never allowed me. I did the free week with Storm and 1 hour in I was getting beat by little 10-12 years old kids. It was surely humbling but also motivating. I knew I was in the right place. One week in, and I felt like I was ready to take on whoever came at me (for real).

I have tried several different taekwondo centers. In Farmington, Northville, Lansing, and Canton. NONE are like Storm.

I am a Full time student at MSU and I live 1.5 hours away. Yet, I still make the drive (total of 3 hours here/back) to come train at STORM because there is no place like them - trust me I have tried. Nobody trains as hard and Nobody cares as much as the people here do.

They dont take BS. If you have a kid that misbehaves, is getting bullied, or just wants to get stronger this is definitely the place to go.

All the coaches/members are USA Team members or World Champions. I train with USA TKWD Team Coaches, World Champions, National Champions, etc. NO OTHER PLACE HAS ALL THIS!!!!

I absolutely love STORM Taekwondo and coach Shane and Megan. I am so glad I finally found a supportive, strong, uplifting TKWD community.

Update: I recently enrolled my 3 year old daughter as well, and she is having a great experience starting training with a group dedicated to younger children, the teachers are very dedicated and adapt so that students achieve learning.

Since we're just getting started, I plan to write another review in a month. I moved my two sons (ages 11 and 13) from their previous martial arts school to Storm Taekwondo. This place offers everything their old school was missing - a spacious facility, welcoming instructors, and excellent focus on both physical conditioning and discipline. We’ve only been here a few weeks but I gotta say I love that they have enough instructors for all the kids and are actually watching them all and helping the ones that need it when they do the move wrong. My son seems to be enjoying it as well. Also everyone here is very professional and very nice. Lots of smiles which is really nice these days. Nothing tops seeing my son learn this art and seeing him in his taekwondo uniform 🩷 it’s the best! I’m hoping we stay here for a long time! It’s crazy to think I wrote a review 1 year ago!
I feel like there’s been some changes in that past year, all three of my kids have had their ups and downs, personally, mentally as well as physically and storm sport taekwondo has been there to support them in all ways. My youngest who is 9 now has really grown from crying a lot in class and struggling to keep up to no longer doing that and growing personally as well as an athlete! My oldest has grown as well and my middle child actually placed silver at Nationals just recently which is a huge accomplishment! The fact that all three kids qualified and got to experience a really big tournament and one of them placed 2nd!
It’s impressive, all three of my kids have certainly learned drive and not giving up and I can’t wait to see where they go in the future!

We absolutely LOVE taekwondo at Storm! My kids are 6 and 3.5 years old and they are learning a lot already and loving it so much. We have so much fun coming here after school. Their schedule works great and the kids get to burn off some energy after school. The owner, coach Shane, is so attentive to not only the students but the parents! He makes sure we are all happy, comfortable, and all questions answered. I love the self discipline and confidence this is teaching my children. It’s a skill they will learn and have forever. Storm Taekwondo is traditional. Ms. Megan she is excellent instructor , strict and accurate. I touched that they did 경례( korean style bow) and 품새 (Pomsae). If you get a black belt, you can get a certificate from 국기원 (Gukgiwon)in Korea. I highly recommend!!!

We did a 6 week trial with our 4 year old who was expressing interest in Taekwondo with Storm Sport. I was super impressed with the facility, coaches, and Shane. They conduct themselves professionally, keep the students busy, and work on building all skills. My daughter didn't want to commit right away due to her greater love for other sports, but if she ever wants to come back in the future we won't go anywhere else! Highly recommend.

I can’t say enough positive things about Coach Shane and Coach Megan! But all the coaches are awesome.
We joined martial arts because my son is highly functioning autistic and was really struggling with self confidence, was getting picked on and bullied at school, then behavior problems started at school as well and not only did being in Taekwondo help give him his confidence but Shane also helped personally with checking in regularly to see how things were going, talking to him and giving goals and positive reinforcement! Huge huge difference and so very important for him. I also have a daughter that struggled with Anxiety, had panic attacks, learning disabilities and was super afraid of specific things like pain, a cut or wound being washed the stinging of it if you had to clean it etc and Taekwondo helped her overcome some of those phobias. Helped her with her anxiety and self confidence as well. She really learned that the biggest challenges she faces is in her head and that all things are possible with the right mind set.
Cant recommend Storm enough!
Self defense is always extremely important but having coaches that REALLY care, that work on personal development and overcoming individuals fears and problems priceless.
