This my seventh year with Derek, he has been my nutritionist, strength coach and fitness mobility coach. As a chubby endurance athlete, Derek has always provided safe, reasonable and self challenging advice, exercises and proper lifting techniques. I’ve been going to Strive Fitness over the summer and absolutely love it! The classes are small, which makes it feel almost like a private training session. The workouts are challenging and the trainers give great personal attention to form and motivation. I always leave feeling stronger and more energized. I joined Strive about a month ago and I have been so happy with the decision. The coaches are friendly and helpful with making sure you are using proper form. The entire community has been welcoming and encouraging. I have been encouraged to challenge myself to do things I didn’t think I could do and seeing that I am capable of doing more than I thought has really helped boost my confidence. I also really like the schedule. There are multiple classes in the morning and evening and it makes it easy for me to make sure I can get a great workout in and not miss out with my schedule that changes all the time.

A few months ago I was barely 4 months post c-section with my second baby in two years. I really wasn't feeling my fittest so I made the decision to join Strive as a way to help myself recover from two pregnancies and to give myself a rounded sense of identity outside of motherhood. I've definitely been rewarded to see the scale go down but even more, I feel stronger and have more energy to take care of my family and myself.
The workouts are challenging enough to push your limits. Depending on your fitness level there are always progressions and alternatives available. The trainers are very attentive to make sure you're getting the most out of each exercise and are not risking injury. Sometimes, I zone out during an explanation or I just forget what we are doing and Derek never hesitates to give more instruction as needed.
Lastly, I would just like to comment on the community aspect. I feel this especially as a stay at home parent but even when I was working, I felt like a lot of people are starved for a sense of belonging or community. I'm not especially good at making friends and I still don't even know most of the people here by name. However, I can say that everyone is supportive and friendly. It feels good to hit the gym after a grueling day and you ask someone leaving the gym "How are you?" And they say "Better now that I got my workout in!" And you know that'll be you next. Or when were all doing the same exercise together and cheering eachother on (or maybe sometimes commiserating). Strive also hosts group and community events that strengthen that sense of interconnection.
Strive has definitely been a benefit to my health - mentally and physically - and I would recommend it to anyone.

I have been a member of Strive for a little over 2 years now, and I can't imagine where I would be without it. I've struggled to find a successful way to lose weight and get more fit for years now, and it wasn't until I started at Strive that I really started to see results. I was looking for personal training, but without the huge price tag, and Strive was the perfect fit. The group classes are focused, and the coaches know exactly how to help you reach whatever goals you set for yourself. I started doing 1-on-1 nutrition with a coach as well, and have been amazed at the change in myself. But, the thing that sets Strive apart from everything else, for me, is the coaches. To put it simply, they care. They give me encouragement to try new things and push myself harder, guidance with nutrition and exercises to meet my goals, and support when I stumble or hit a wall. I also gained friends in the gym who cheer me on and make each class fun. I could not rave more about the supportive environment that Derek and Mary have created!

The team is amazing and very supportive. When I started there , I was struggling with my fitness due to a medical condition. Derek created an individual plan for me until I could build up strength. They push you just the right amount. They are always monitoring each person to make sure you are doing the exercises correctly. It’s like having your own personal trainer without paying the crazy fees. I definitely recommend you join this fitness center if you are looking for a supportive environment to build up your strength and get healthier.

I've been at Strive for just over 2 months now and it is the best training facility ever! Coach Derek and Coach Mary are the absolute best! They both are very positive, are able to keep you on track and push you to do the best you can do each and every time you are there! I was referred to join Strive Fitness two months ago and am so ecstatic that I gave it a go! I’m currently down 25 pounds and extremely excited to continue my fitness journey with Strive! The owner and trainers are so welcoming and truly supportive of every individual that walks in those doors. I was hesitant at first being the last time I was in the gym was back in 2020 when Covid shut everything down but this was the BEST decision I made for my health! I know if I joined a regular gym I would be walking around in circles thinking of what I should do next whereas I go to Strive Fitness and we get right into it plus making sure my form is correct as well! I joined Strive Fitness in Feb 2023 and I love it! The trainers (Derek, Hayle and Mary) are very involved with my plan and goals and check in on me regularly. I have been going to Strive for almost 2 months and I absolutely LOVE IT!
Derek, Mary and Halye are all motivating, encouraging and able to modify a workout or exercise if you need it to be more or less challenging. The group workouts are high intensity and all the other members I’ve met have been very friendly and supportive.
This is a phenomenal atmosphere, great music : ) and close to home!
There is no way I could ever push myself or come up with all the different exercises they create. Thank you for being such an outstanding company and brand!!!!

LOVE Strive Fitness ! I have had gym memberships but never really got a great workout by myself. I came across Strive Fitness about 3 months ago and it is exactly what I have been looking for.
Love the atmosphere ! The trainers are awesome; they really pay attention and challenge you when they know you should be doing heavier weights and they tell you if you are not doing something correctly.
They also offer nutrition coaching which is a great way to reach your goals !
Everyone that I have come across really motivates and cheers each other on!.

Why do it alone? Gyms failed me because they didn't care. I had no accountability. No direction. Strive put me on a path to be healthier. In four months I am down 25 lbs. Great place to get yourself back to where you want to be. Derek is a fantastic people person and motivator. Mary and Hayley too are exceptional at keeping things both fun and interesting while getting the most out of you. The biggest thing though may be the " fit family ". I have been going to Strive for about a month now. The workout classes and trainers are amazing. When you join, you’re assigned an accountability coach who discusses your goals with you and checks in on your progress toward them. For the workout classes, the trainers are always so flexible and provide accommodations when needed to make sure everyone is getting in a good workout regardless of their workout experience/ability or their health. I was very nervous when I joined because I had never done classes like this and a lot of the exercises were new to me. The trainers work with you every single class to ensure your form is correct and that you’re doing the workouts correctly. They encourage you to give your all and push you to achieve your goals! Nothing but good things to say!

I was introduced to this gym through a social media promotion and I thought I would just try it out for a couple weeks but I quickly became a fan!! The exercise formats fit a wide range of fitness levels. Joined the Strive family back in January and so glad that I did. Unlike the several traditional gyms I've belonged too over the years I'm seeing results. All the coaches (Derek, Hayle and Mary) are all awesome and make sure to keep you moving towards your goal! Hayle has been my nutrition coach and makes sure to assist in keeping my nutrition goals on target!!! All members are all very friendly and help push / encourage each other during classes. Strive member of almost 2 months. The structure and content of the classes is exactly what I was looking for. The smaller class size and functional training pushes me to work harder then I would independently exercising. I feel so lucky to have found Strive gym 8 months ago. I was exhausted from working midnight shifts in healthcare through a pandemic. I didn’t feel good about myself and wanted a change. It’s hard to ask for help but I knew I could not do it alone. I remember my first workout at Strive thinking “I do not belong here” but that quickly changed. The staff at Strive are knowledgeable, encouraging, and understanding. Everyone who works out there is so friendly. We are literally one team! Since I’ve been at Strive, my health and life have changed for the better. I am stronger and more confident. I have learned that consistency is key. I've been going to STRIVE now for nearly a year and this has been the best choice for me. While I've paid for gym memberships before, I have never made as much use out of the gym nor have had as much progress as I have with STRIVE. Derek, Hayle and Mary are fantastic coaches that give you enough push, motivation and information to help push yourself and continue on. They truly want to help you make progress with your goals and are more than willing to adjust the program based on injuries and the like. I had been struggling to regain strength, balance and lose weight after my second bout with cancer, then I found Strive. Derek, Mary and Hayle have been great, as have all the others there working threw their own struggles. Everyone is very supportive and friendly. I Started at STRIVE 3 months ago and to be honest I was scared to go but I knew I needed a change. I spent years lowering my calories and being on a diet that eventually didn't work for me anymore and left me exhausted and feeling like I was never getting anywhere. Fast forward to 3 months ago when I started working with Derek on my nutrition, it has helped me see that what i was working was doing more harm then good. I spent most of my first workout at STRIVE scared and feeling out of place, Hayle helped me break out of that and I enjoy going every week and I cant imagine not doing several workouts there a week. This Place is truly a family, Derek, Hayle and Mary all make sure the workouts are amazing and make everyone feel like family. This family helps each other and encourages each other when they see someone struggling. I have never seen anything like this!! About 6 weeks or so into me starting I was put in the hospital for emergency surgery...I was just getting to know people and I felt devastated that I had to halt working out for a little bit, but so many people reached out to me to see if I was ok and needed anything as well as sent me flowers! I have never felt more missed or loved or welcomed by a community like I have at STRIVE. I am constantly being pushed in my workouts to get stronger as well as working on my relationship with food and nutrition!! - Thanks Derek, Hayle and Mary for all you do for this community

It was almost a year from the first time I reached out to when I actually made it to my first workout. I wish I hadn’t waited so long. I was really nervous about being judged, which in hindsight is ridiculous. The coaches are all awesome- always offering an alternative if someone is unable to do an exercise. They’re so encouraging. And then there’s the other members. Everyone is super nice and uplifting. There’s no judgment and no competition, everyone wants everyone to succeed. I’ve worked out at a lot of places and this one is my favorite by far. If you’re hesitating, don’t. Try it out and you’ll see how awesome it is.

My experience so far has been excellent. There are multiple programs geared to your specific goals – for me, it was to lose my dad bod that I gained without children while also packing on some muscle for the babes. I have been at Strive for about six weeks now, and I am glad I found this place! Derek is knowledgeable and professional on all levels. The one-on-one nutrition coaching is the exact amount of accountability I needed to make the changes I needed to make.
The Gym is clean and full of great equipment, and the members are welcoming and supportive. It can be challenging to start a workout program and even more challenging to start at a new gym. Derek and the people at Strive make this transition much easier. Seriously, stop looking for a place to go... this is the one!

I love everything about this place! I was extremely nervous to join, but the trainers are easy to talk to. They push you to where you want to be and they are super involved to help you achieve your success. They have built such an amazing community and welcome everyone equally. Communication and scheduling is also really easy. I love that every day is different so it is not the same old boring workouts. I joined Strive a few months ago to change up my workout routine. I was looking for something to build muscle in addition to my cardio/HIIT focused workouts. I would highly recommend Strive to anyone looking for a program that is not the same thing day in and day out. Strive keeps the training fresh and something you look forward to as opposed to something you dread doing on certain days. Coach Derek and Cameron are the best in town! I like the individual approach they give realizing that fitness and a healthy lifestyle are not one size fits all. They are big on accountability, check-in, and education giving you the tools you need to be successful. Strive is a great place for me to get my full workout ! I have done all sorts of classes, exercise videos, and gyms and I would never imagined that I would be weight training. It really is a full body workout with cardio within a 55 minute window. The exercises are switched up so that your body doesn’t get use to the same old routine and keeps me from getting bored easily. I love the one on one attention for me to get to my goals and the family comradely from all the members. The nutrition counseling has helped me stay on the right track while Strive provides encouragement from it’s staff at each visit.

Ever since my successful double knee R & R in 2014 I've visited plenty of facilities boxes & gyms.
Of the mere dozen Id try a free drop in or a 101.
Some were great some were so-so and some were beast mode extreme.
So I found strive without trying
2 friends had FB check-ins, at a place I'd never heard of how could that be.
( well it was previously located in a non- descript concrete building on Utica rd.)
So I reached out to Derek via the Strive website
He answered my multiple questions with genuine sincerity plus he promised reasonable modifications for my
Knees
And torn rotator cuff.
But he was in the midst of a move from Sterling Hts to Clinton Twp.
Long story short we eventually hooked up after numerous texts and phone calls and had a meet and greet.
He was everything I had hoped for in a coach and a leader.
The new 4000 square foot facility seemed very practical and worthy of my time and money.
So I signed up!
That was 11 days ago now with 7 classes under my belt I can honestly say
I've been pushed
I've been challenged
I've been motivated by Derek Cameron & others in class to push past my "wuss limitations" & strive for

My practical day to day movements have improved as I've become more flexible.
I've worked harder at a higher level in 45 minutes than ever before at the Purple gym.

If I can learn the routines and 38 different daily workouts so far and complete them then so can you.

You won’t get bored at Strive because every day is a new workout routine. Cam and Derek have worked with me to modify exercises to protect my previous injured knee and ankle joints without having to sacrifice still getting a challenging workout. SO glad I stumbled upon Strive when looking for a new gym, as it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for! After years of working out and having an “okay diet” I was seriously lacking motivation to exercise and eat well. Not only will Strive push you physically, but you will also learn a TON about nutrition. I’ve only been at Strive for a couple of weeks and honestly feel like it was one of the best decisions I’ve made...I mean I actually look forward to waking up at 5am to work out because I know I’ll have to push myself. I think Derek’s commitment to educating his clients about nutrition and the motivating atmosphere is what sets this gym apart from others. I had been working out regularly for a couple years when a friend suggested I try Strive. The workouts are mixed up with some days focusing more on strength and others focusing more on cardio / endurance. All have been top-notch and difficult – with the ability to scale according to your own personal needs. Derek was great at helping modify a few movements when I came in with a minor injury. He's currently working closely with me to help tweak my nutrition so I can move closer towards my goals. My former gym membership offered me the ability to go to several facilities in the area, but I’ve never come across a more encouraging group of fellow members. The motto here is “better together”. And it truly is.

My daughter Kylie was introduced to Derek during her club volleyball season at least 3 years ago. It was then, that she began Strength and Conditioning training under his guidance. He takes great care in developing individual training plans for his athletes. Not only does he help these athletes to achieve their goals, but he guides them as to how to do it safely as to prevent injuries.
When Derek started his business (in a small church auxiliary room), I joined his fitness class with the hopes of getting healthier and dropping some weight. Over time, I have had my setbacks, but Derek has always encouraged not only me, but all of his clients to celebrate their progress regardless of how long it may take. During the time I have been attending Strive Fitness classes, he has grown his business from being in that small church room to having his own building! My fitness journey at Strive started on a fluke. In October 2017 I attended a charity boot camp style workout. I thought to myself “Pssshhh it’s for charity. They are not gonna make us really workout.” Well, I was wrong. We truly worked out!
I instantly became hooked! The workouts are no joke. They are tough both physically and mentally. That’s not to say that you can’t do it. You can do anything you set your mind to.
I love everyone at Strive. The trainers are welcoming, motivating, and caring. They care about your physical and mental needs. I personally have a knee injury which means I have to modify some of the moments. The trainers at Strive are great with coming up with ways to modify.

This is the perfect place to workout. No where else can you go to receive the individual attention that you will get at Strive. I have been working out here for about 5 months. I came because I knew I would get lost, confused and discouraged at a big box work out joint. I have received nothing but encouragement and more muscle here. I have been a part of the Strive Fitness family for a little over a year now and I can honestly say it's the best decision I have made for myself. Not only do we work out and get stronger physically but mentally as well. Everyone at Strive works together by supporting and encouraging each other. When you have bad days there are always people ready to cheer you up. We were all strangers when we met but now we're a family. A while back I learned that I had rupture discs and bone spurs, which resulted in surgery on both my back and neck. The surgery I was ready for, the recovery I was not. Following surgery I was dealing with a lot of pain and was bed ridden for about 6 weeks. Once I was up and on the mend Derek approached me about coming to work out with him. I was quite surprised when he brought it up because he had known about my surgery and everything that I had gone through. I was leery at first and concerned about just how much I could do. Derek was confident that he could put together a personalized plan for me.
I decided it was time to give it a try. It's been 3 months since I started working with Derek. I started off slowly with some restrictions. Derek modifies anything needed to keep me moving and progressing. He keeps the workouts interesting and challenging. I have started following his nutritional plan as well. So far I have dropped 20 lbs. and 7 inches. My cholesterol has dropped 37 points and my triglycerides 78 points. I am 55 years old and feel better and stronger than I have in years. I would highly recommend Strive Fitness and Derek to any one at any age.

Strive Fitness & Performance is a real gym with real people. People who support & encourage each other. People who are truly interested in improving their physical & nutritional well being.
Derek is just as committed to teaching good nutrition as he is to making sure you are doing the exercises properly.
We just finished a 6 week transformation challenge & with some hard work & support from Derek & my gym partners I was able to lose 14 pounds & 15 inches!!!

It may not show right now but I have been working out on and off for 22 years, Being 30 years old and divorced was my first motivation - went from flabby 140 (what I would do to be that weight now lol) to fit 120. Over the years I have fallen off the wagon more times than I would like to remember, usually gaining more than I lost.
Fast forward, this time was especially hard to get back into the swing of things, I'm sure it has a lot to do with age and all the fun things that come with that. Then I found a Facebook post for Strive Fitness and Performance and thought why not fill out the questionnaire and see where this goes. Shortly after I received a phone call from the owner, Derek Ledwidge, we spoke for 30+ minutes, he took the time to get to know me and to explain his program – I was very impressed and decided to join.
Derek takes the time to explain and show the proper way of every movement that we will be doing that day also keeps a close watch on each of us that our form is correct. Well I am happy to have lost 5" in the first 3 weeks, I have the attendance part down, showing up every day! Now to start with the food logs and meal prep – Derek is hands on when it comes to explaining the benefits of eating healthy eating and how to accomplish this life style change. So the next three weeks should show greater results - that is my goal.
I have saved the best for last – the people that I have met are so accepting and supportive, not one minute have I felt uncomfortable, the FitFam and Derek make me want to go every single day - With that being said, I am very happy to be part of the Strive Fitness and Performance family now and I think this is a perfect fit for me!
